What cable(s) for audio on hp zr2440w monitor with HP 3005pr port replicator and HP Folio laptop?

I have an HP ZR2440w monitor.
I have an HP Folio laptop.
I have an HP 3005pr port replicator.
I want to use the monitor's built-in speakers.
Question 1) What cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in speakers?
Question 2) Does the monitor have a built-in microphone?
Question 2b) If yes, what cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in microphone?
Thanks!

I understand you have some questions connecting the zr2440w monitor to the Hp 3005pr port replicator.
The back of the replicator should look something like this.
Question 1) What cable do I need to connect the port replicator to the monitor to use the monitor's built-in speakers?
The green headphone jack is how you would connect it to a set of external speakers.  If the monitor has its own speakers, it should have a port to match it.  This is a standard 3.5mm audio jack, so any standard 3.5mm speaker cable should work.  I will note that this monitor didn't list any audio input.  Monitors that have speakers usually have an analog audio input jack.
Question 2) Does the monitor have a built-in microphone?
This guide lists all the features of this monitor starting on page 2.  It doesn't appear to have a microphone.  You could still connect an external microphone to the port replicator's microphone jack.
Let me know if this answered your questions.

As long as it meets the minimum technical specifications, although the more above the minimum you have, the better the experience.

  • What cable/adapter for trv-530 to imac

    4 pin, 6 pin, firewire 400, firewire 600, firewire 800
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..................
I have an old Sony TRV-530 which I used to record some video because I needed a very wide angle lens which I happen to have for the TRV-530. Now how the heck do I get it into iMovie. I kind of came to the conclusion that I need to do this thru firewire but my iMac (21.5 late 2009, 10.7.2) has a different firewire connector than the cable that comes out of the TRV-530. What cable or adapter do I need and where can I get it? A model number would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Joe B

    Hi MeeToo
The Early white Intel iMac's have a Mini-DVI port and you can use either a Mini-DVI to DVI or Mini-DVI to VGA adapter with that display, however the Mini-DVI to DVI adapter and DVI cable is the better connection.

  • What Cable Do I Need To Connect My MacBook With a Cinema Display?

    Hi,
I have got a 23" old HD Cinema Display. It is the one with the transparent plastic around the outside. I have a 13" MacBook, Oct 2008 then discontinued, the one that looks like a MacBook Pro, and I would like to connect the laptop to the display. Which cable would I need to connect the two?
The cable coming off the cinema display has three lines on ten metal dots on the right, and a line, with two dots above and below it, on the left. On the Macbook I have got a mini dvi port.
    Thanks,

The first problem is that the 23 inch display with oval ADC connector has no power supply. You will need something like the Apple DVI-to-ADC converter, which contains the power supply to generate the 28 Volt power at up to 4 Amps needed to run the display. This will convert your display to a DVI display with a power supply "brick" in the cable. These converter/power units are readily available on the used market and have an AC power cord.
If your MacBook is an Aluminum body, it has a Mini DisplayPort. [Older models had a Mini DVI, where the center partition was folded into a C-shape.] Mini DisplayPort can be forced into "Single-Link DVD compatibility mode" with an inexpensive adapter. This solution works for DVI displays up through 1920 wide, beyond which you need the much more expensive Dual-Link converter. {If your had the Mini DVI, that is also a simple adapter.]

  • Any suggestions for what to look for in a good production monitor?

I'm in the market for a production monitor and I'm looking at B&H's online catalogue now. Any tips on what to look for and if anyone has any recommendations or favorites? Thanks.

it would help if you could determine a budget and then shop for models within or slightly above that budget.
basically, some necessary items are switchable aspect ratio, underscan/overscan and then some sort of blue check for proper chroma and phase calibration. some monitors have a gray scale blue check which i think completely blows. it's better to have a monitor with viewable red, blue and green guns as the blue gun is more accurate for calibration than a grayscale blue check feature. also, there are other diagnostic functions that are viewable by using the red or green guns to view color bars.
some other nice features to have are horizontal/vertical delay, sdi inputs, hd-sdi inputs.
it's been mentioned in the last larry jordan newsletter than the crt monitor is going the way of the dinosaur and now sony and panasonic are marketing lcd products only. i think this is a very sad trend. as a freelance video operator/camera shader, i am of the opinion that lcd monitors are horrible; they hurt my eyes and the color rendition isn't as accurate as a crt. leitch is now manufacturing an lcd scope which is just terrible to behold. the black area of the vectorscope is a huge, amorphous blob of white light that shows no signal detail whatsoever.
i don't know what to make of larry's statement as a quick check of the sony business website reveals only bvm crt's in their product lineup, no more pvm series. i haven't looked at the panasonic product catalog yet.
although the sony pvm L5 that shane mentioned is a quality product, to my eyes, i would get an ikegami monitor but you'll find that the superior imaging of the ikegami also has a superior price point.
one last point, don't buy an used monitor from ebay, you don't know where it's been or how it's been treated. give jvc monitors a fair shake as well, not a bad product for the price, no matter what their reputation is.
    good luck.

  • M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 monitors with imac optical digital out

I'm looking to purchase these monitors for my imac or ones very similar to them and was wondering how I go about hooking them up to the imac. I've read that I would have to use a mini-TOSLink cable to use the optical digital out, but how do I go from that to the RCA on the back of the monitors? Do they make a mini-TOSLink cable to RCA cable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, the AV 40 inputs are line-level analog RCA; they 'don't understand' digital audio,
and the conversion requires more than a cable -- you'd need an D-to-A converter.
You could run an analog signal to the monitors with just a cheap miniplug-to-RCA
(analog) adaptor from Radio Shack; but if you want to use the iMac's digital output,
you'll need some sort of external digital-to-analog conversion hardware.
I don't know of any inexpensive stand-alone TOSLINK-to-analog converters, but
there are many USB-to-audio products that would allow you to feed digital audio
from the iMac to the AV 40's -- but through a USB port, rather than TOSLINK.
Search for "USB audio" on amazon.com and/or newegg.com.

  • What is the best way to run dual monitors with a 2011 MBP?

I have a 2011 MBP and i want to run dual 1920x1080 monitors. what is the best way to accomplish this? i also have a PC attached to the monitors with the DVI connection (but would be willing to change this to the analog, if necessary). so i have teh analog and HDMI connections available on the backs of the monitors.
what i would like to do is hook the MBP through the HDMI if possible and then i would just be able to change inputs on the monitors depending in which computer i want to use (PC or MBP).
any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Ok, you either own a MacBook Pro with an Intel Processor, or a PowerBook with a PowerPC Processor.
If your stated speed is correct, then you own a PowerBook, which will not run Windows natively. development & sales for Virtual PC has ceased. The only emulator still around, I think, is iEmulator & is terribly slow on G4s.
Boot Camp does not work on PowerPC Macs.

  • Ipad2-ipod4 cable options for audio/video out

Trying to find the best option for playing music/video from iPad2/ipod touch G4 through my home theater receiver.can I use one cable for both? Receiver does have HDMI inputs/output to tv, but will sound play through to tv or just on surround. Also do any options play audio in 7.1 sound, or at least 5.1?

Sorry you were having issues w/ audio sync. Try bypassing Onkyo system and going directly to TV w/ component cables. Sync issue could be a result of HDMI firmware hand shake problem. Then from TV you can use the optical out to Onkyo system.

  • What cable type for connecting with gigabit port

What kind of lan cable that I should use for connecting with gigabit port from Time Capsule to get the fastest transfer rate. And what is the maximum rate MB/sec that could be?

You can use CAT5 or CAT6.
    max transfer rate is:
Fast Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 100 Mbits/sec (12 MB/sec), while Gigabit Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 1000 Mbits/sec (120 MB/sec). That suggests a double speed advantage of Gigabit Ethernet over USB (60 MB/sec), but neither protocol hits its maximum. In reality, a typical USB connected disk is roughly equal to or lesser than the throughput of a shared drive attached over a Gigabit Ethernet network.
    Over wireless network:
    - 802.11b has a theoretical speed maximum of 11 Mbits/sec with a typical transfer rate of around 4.5 Mbits/sec (0.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11g has a theoretical speed maximum of 54 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 23 Mbits/sec (2.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11n has a theoretical speed maximum of 300 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 74 Mbits/sec (9.25 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.

  • Apple Video Component Cable only for audio

I want to buy an Apple Video Component Cable to use it with an iPhone 3GS and also with an iPod 5G.
The cable will be connected to the TV and to the audio receiver.
I know that this cable is not compatible with the iPod 5G, but in this case I only want to use it to listen to music. Therefore, only audio with iPod 5G, audio/video with iPhone 3GS.
Does anyone know if using this cable, despite the fact that video won't work on iPod 5G, audio will work fine on iPod 5G?
I'd like to know that before I buy it.
    Thanks!
    Andrés

    I'll answer my self.
Yes, it does play music on the iPod 5th gen.

  • What is maximum output audio power in european iPhones with limited sound volume?

Hello all! I need to figure out what is maximum audio frequency power (or voltage on earphones connector) deliveres european versions of iPhones to earphone jack. Maybe I can switch volume limit ON and measure it on american version?
    Thank you!

    Gabi759,
The output on the Audigy 2 ZS is Line Level. We no longer use amplification on the card as that can cause distortion and an overall loss of audio quality. You may want to look at either replacing your speakers (as few sound cards have amplification) or get a preamp for them to power them.
