This would indicate your trying to install a version for the Mac which require the Intel processor. (MacBook)

I always update to your newest Firefox configuration and did so when I was asked to upgrade to "Firefox 4" for the Mac. When I tried to access my account I receive the above message. I dumped the upgrade which wiped my Mac clean of all my bookmarks and again downloaded Firefox 4 but with the same result. Tried to switch to Safari but this too was unsatisfactory. I'm guessing I need to return to a previous Firefox upgrade and never again try and upgrade. How do I do this?

You can't open the application iPhoto.app because it is not supported on this type of Mac.
I just used migration assistant to bring all my data over from my old Macbook to my new iMac. Then I deleted the admin user which was created automatically when I first booted up the iMac. All worked well, except for iPhoto which niow gives me this message. Annoying because I upgraded to the iMac for the big screen to work with my photos.
Any ideas folks?

Can't seem to find this posted anywhere else. My iCal won't run and has that circle / slash icon overlay. By the modification dates etc. it looks like the lat update killed it.

Received invitation to download Firefox version 4 for Mac this morning and did so (regretably losing 3.16 version) because now the new version 4 won't open. I just keep getting the error message "You can't open the application "Firefox.app" because it is not supported by this architecture." I'm using the latest Mac OS 10.5.8. The processor is 1.8 GHz Power PC G5.

Yesterday when I opened the Chess on my macbook pro, It kept popping up the alert"You can‘t open the applicaion"Game center" because it is not supported on this type of mac." Then I tried to open my game center on my mac, it can be opened but it blocked when I logged in . After I entered my user name and password it direct me to an blank page and then redirected back to the login page again.
I want to know how can I dismiss the alter and make the Game center work. Thanks.Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.gamecenter.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Lion and later cannot run old PPC applications. Upgrade ImageBrowser or find a replacement for it.

I just download mountain lion to my mac, now microsoft office suite doesn't work....it says 'you can't open the application 'microsoft word' because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What does this mean and what do I have to do to fix it?? HELP!!
Install Snow Leopard on another boot partition, or upgrade Microsoft Office to a newer version, or use any number of better alternatives. Some of them are free.

In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft. -

Use Numbers, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, Microsoft Office 2008 or newer, Google Docs, or similar tools to open the files.

Rosetta is not included Lion, if you are not familiar with Rosetta it was an application included in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard that allowed PPC based apps to run on Intel based machines. That was over 5 years ago so it's time to move on. As has been suggested you can read those documents in Pages which is available on the App Store. Pages is part of the iWorks suite that replaced AppleWorks years ago. Currently iWorks is on iWorks 09 , and includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You can find each on the App store.
