Error code 9006 is related to the computer's security software settings, 39 is not listed inResolve iOS update and restore errors try turning the security/anti-virus software off if you are using something like that. Then you may need to restore via the recovery mode since that is what the graphic of a USB wire connecting to iTunes means, it has already entered recovery mode...see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 for instructions on recovery mode restoring.

Up to you whether you want to get it serviced. If you don't, I'd suggest putting on a screen protector to help hold the screen together and try to prevent further damage. It's likely that it will eventually fail at some point, but you could get lucky and have it continue to work for quite some time.

I had the exact same thing happen ... for the second time. I'm done renting movies on Apple TV that I cannot watch, and don't get my money back. I have a strong Internet connection, and about 10 minutes into a movie and it stops and says that the movie will be ready to view in 55 hours. Rediculous ... and frustrating. I don't know how to fix this, and I disagee with the other person responding to you who said it was your network. What to do with phoney iTunes gift cert Zip File? (After I opened it)

I foolishly opened the Zip file that came along with an email claiming to be an iTunes gift certificate (iT6561.zip).
I trashed the attachment, and emptied the trash. when I recognized my mistake. But, because i opened it first, I'm worried the next time I open iTunes, my iTunes account information will be stolen.
How do I get rid of the, now unzipped file that is lurking around in my system? (A spotlight search doesn't locate it). How do protect my iTunes account info next ime I open iTunes?

The tunes that are on the desk top - will they play in iTunes without moving them OR do you get the (!)?
The thing to be aware of it that the iTunes Library and the iTunes Music Library.xml are what keeps track things for iTunes and other apps. These files by default are in HD>user>User Account>Music>iTunes. If they get moved then iTunes will create 2 new files and all you old info is gone.
If you are getting the you can try to put the tunes that are on the desktop back into the iTunes Music folder and see if iTunes will find them again.
If not, then you need to add those tunes that are on the desktop - but not in library. Once ALL the tunes are in one place then you should be able to delete the extras.
Don't delete the purchased tunes without having a backup of those tunes. iTMS is clear about the download policy. It is a one time download.

Does the original library file still exist on the computer? Hopefully when creating the new library it was done in a seperate folder as I do not believe iTunes allows for two library files in the same location.

If iTunes is confused about what media should or should not be on the device, or has messed up the artwork, take these steps:
Backup the device.
Restore as a new device.
Restore from the earlier backup.
In general it is better to use playlists rather than checkboxes to control what does and does not get synced to your device. Checkboxes also prevent regular tract-to-track playback. If you use checkboxes to exclude a particular album from the device you would have to check the boxes again if you wanted to listen to it, or individually start the playback of each track.
