What driver and DataSource for EJB transactional semantics?

Hi people.
Joe Weinstein clarified a point that should be much clearer in the online docs:
"If you want EJB transactional semantics, you must use a TxDataSource."
I'm not clear about the relationship between TxDataSource and XA-drivers. I want
transactional EJB semantics.
So I must use TxDataSource.
Must I use XA-enabled drivers too?
What drivers can I use for Oracle?
Thanks, Alex

Hi Alexander,
You need to use XA driver in case you need truly distributed
transactions (spanning multiple databases instances).
Otherwise you could use non-XA driver with TxDataSource.
weblogic will simulate XA behavior. It will work for single
db instance.

  • What is the datasource for 9.3.1? Does OLEDB supports ODBC

    Plz some one let me know
    what is the datasource for hyperion 9.3.1
    and does OLE DB supports ODBC
    In hyperion 11 the datasource is through ODBC.
    thanks

    Hi,
    The datasource in 9.3 / 11 is stored in the planning system database tables
    In 9.3 it is set up through the configuration utility, in 11 it is done directly through planning web.
    The datasource holds the connection details to the planning repositories and the essbase application.
    The datasource connects to the planning repository through JDBC and to essbase using a JAVA API.
    Ok?
    Cheers

  • Can i use time capsule for external h drive and also for time machine?

    Can i use time capsule for external h drive and also for time machine?

    Hello, vascocaco.
    If I understand correctly, you're wondering if you can use your Time Capsule's internal hard disk both for Time Machine backups and as an ordinary drive. Is this your question?
    You can, but Time Machine backups may take longer.
    To do it, you should partition your Time Capsule's hard disk to create one volume for the backups and one for other files.

  • "Datasource" or "Tx Datasource" for Local Transactions

    I am wondering whether I should use a "Normal DataSource" or "Transactional DataSource"
    Object in my EJB deployment.
    According to the docs, Tx Datasources are needed only for distributed transactions.
    For local transactions Datasource is recommended. I need only local transactions
    and
    initially used a non-transactional datasource.
    The problem I came across is that WL6.1 doesn't set the ISOLATION LEVEL as specified
    in the deployment descriptors when a normal Datasource object is used.
    When I switch to Tx Datasource - isolation is set properly.
    Has anyone encountered this and is it a bug or am I not understanding the
    documentation correctly.
    Thanks, Samuel Kounev

    and combine LO DS with AP/AR and GL through infoset or mutiprovider...
    You need to look for these KPIs in different datasources...and then link them.

  • Portal, BW and Datasources for users

    Hello,
    Our current system toplogy looks like this:
    We have a Portal and BW (NW04s) which share one Java Application Server.
    Since the main work is creating BW reports and presenting them at the portal, the users are being created at the BW System, the roles are being built over there and everything is exported to the portal. The Application Server is not an ABAP one but since the users created in BW and transported to the portal they are considering as an ABAP Datasource. This means that the main feed of the portal are users created on the BW.
    What we would like to do is change the main feed of the portal to our Active Directory server which will handle user creation/deletion/modification. This means that the portal and the BW will no longer share the same Datasource and my questions are:
    1. Is our current work procedure correct?
    2. How can we reflect this change to the BW as well, so it will "know" the new toplogy? Do we need to maintain now two sets of users, one for the portal and one for the BW system?
    3. What will happen with all the users already created on the BW and transported to the portal and their authorizations?
    4. At this new toplogy, who will be in charge of creating the roles and managing the authorizations, the BW side or the portal side?

    Hi Roy,
    according to SAP it is possible. Unfortunately, I have not done it yet. But at SAP TechEd 2006 in Amsterdam Gerlinde Zibulski and Frank Buchholz gave an interesting presentation of "Identity Management in Heterogeneous System Landscapes: the SAP Solution". There they talked about the synchronization at great length. Furthermore you find quite some information in the SAP Library. Even how to enable Windows authentication if the user's ids in ADS and ABAP user management do not match. See <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/4c3725aeaf30b4e10000000a11466f/content.htm">Configuring the UME when Using Non-ADS Data Sources</a>.
    @Michael: Sounds like you have got some experience regarding the synchronization process. Could you please elaborate why you do not recommand it!

    Please can someone help me? I've upgraded from Windows 98SE to Windows XP Pro and need to install a driver for my Soundblaster Li've! CT4620. I tried to install one driver and it says "The Windows operating system is not supported" and the install exits. I'm stuck! What should I do?

    Hi Nick,
    The CT4620 is the original SB Li've! card. You should be able to install the Li've driver unipack:
    Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe
    It's available under Support> Download (just select "SB Li've!" in the product list).

  • Don't know what driver to download for my NX6600

    I have an NX6600 card that I do not use sli (at least thats close to what it is). I am having problems figuring out what driver I need. They show a driver from 2004 for the NX6600. They also show newer drivers for geforce 6 cards. I don't know if my nx6600 is a geforce card or not?
    They show a driver for the nx6600 that uses the sli specifically so I can't use that one.
    Any Suggestions?

    I'm sorry I mistyped. Is my nx6600 pciexpress card a geforce 6 card. They have a lot of new drivers for that type. I have tried the uni driver in the past and I have had some problems. I have also read on the Asus board that if you pick the wrong driver it could cause windows to crash at bootup. A problem I have been having as I build new machines. So I wanted to try something else.
    For example: You take about 2 hours updating all the patches on a windows 2k/xp machine and it works fine. You reboot it and it works fine. You walk in the next day and turn it on and windows says a systemcde file is missing, or some other nonsense.
    F8 etc doesn't allow you in. Using win 2k your only solution is formating the beast.
    But Xp is smart enough to get around it, boot with XP and it says we need to do a chkdisk your drive has bad sectors. Every few times windows comes up with this bogus drive bad warning. The hd's are fine unless 8 drives in 8 different systems are bad. Windows checkdisk does not find bad sectors.
    One guy in the Asus forum said the nvidia driver is causing it from the msi cd. He used one on the msi web site and his is fine now.

  • Factory reset - the what, why, and how for Gingerbread

    I wanted to share this information regarding a Factory Reset and how it is used for Gingerbread - both the what, why, and how - in case anyone is interested in the details. If you embark on this process, this thread is worth a close read. thanks to d.harris for writing this up for the SOAK group. good luck everyone and remember, YMMV.
    First, what does a "factory reset" do? The short answer is: it will return your phone to the condition it was in when you first purchased it EXCEPT the Android version will match your phone's latest update. For example, I had Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) on my phone before the "soak". My phone was updated to Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread or "GB") during the "soak". I had some trouble with video performance in the Fox News app and missing album cover art in the Google Music app. So I decided to do the factory reset. After the reset was finished, my Droid X still had Android 2.3.3 on it but all of the settings had been restored to their factory defaults. And presumably, all Android operating system (OS) caches had been flushed. All of the data that was stored in my phone's memory was cleared. So my contacts were all gone. And I had to reactivate my phone (*228 1) just like a new phone and reenter my Google account info.
    Does a factory reset actually clear the entire contents of the phone's memory and re-install Android from scratch? (That's what I wish it did.) But I'm not sure that it does that because the entire process seems to go too fast for that. However, a factory reset does seem to do a better job of cleaning out the remnants of the previous OS (Froyo 2.2.1) than a standard "update" does. But that's not all.
    The factory reset also clears all of the apps that were installed in the phone's memory. And it clears all of the app data that was installed in the phone's memory. So you will have to reinstall all of your apps from the Android Market (or wherever they came from). Normally, you do not have to pay for them again because the Android Market remembers your previous purchases as long as you register your phone with the same Google account.
    However, the Android Market does not remember the free apps that you installed---so you should make a list of all your apps before you reset your phone so you won't forget the free ones. The reason I wrote "installed in the phone's memory" above is because a factory reset gives you a choice whether or not to clear your phone's micro SD memory card. If desired, it will leave it alone. So any apps or data will still be present on your card after the reset. However, your phone will not be aware of the apps on the memory card because all "knowledge" of them will have been erased from your phone's internal memory---you'll still have to reinstall ALL of your apps. But the data files will still be there. Regarding the "built-in" apps that come pre-installed with Android, they will also be restored to their original state and version when you do a factory reset. So you'll need to update some of them (like updating Google Maps and updating Adobe Flash from 10.1 to 10.3).
    Before you do a factory reset, you should have a fully charged battery becaues you do NOT want to run out of power in the middle of a reset---that could "brick" your phone. I always take an extra precaution: in addition to a fully charged battery, I also connect my phone to AC with the Motorola AC-to-USB charging adapter that came with it. Not only does it insure that I won't run out of power, it also keeps my battery fully charged so I have a 100% charge after the factory reset (you'll have a lot of work to do afterward to reinstall your apps and restore all of your Android and app settings back to your preferences).
    Here's a pre reset checklist:
    • Export your contacts to your SD card so you can easily restore them later (Contacts/Dialer menu > Import/Export > Export contacts to: SD card).
    • Make a list of all of the apps that you installed (Android menu > Manage Apps > Downloaded tab).
    • Get a copy of your Google account login info (user name and password).
    • Get a copy of your Verizon Backup Assistant PIN (if you use this service).
    • Turn off your phone and pull its battery. Wait 30 seconds or more and reinstall the battery and turn the phone back on. This will make sure that there is nothing hinky in your phone's volatile memory as the factory reset begins.
    • Fully charge your phone's battery and plug the AC charging adapter into the phone.
    Now you're ready to do the deed. Follow these steps:
    1. If it's not already on, turn on Google's "back up my data" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Back up my data. This is required for the next step.
    2. Turn off the "automatic restore" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Automatic restore. This will prevent your phone from trying to download every paid app that was previously on your phone all at once. It is much better---especially if you have a lot of apps---to install them one at a time. Plus, you may not want some of them to be reinstalled right away if you are trying to determine if one of them is causing trouble under GB 2.3.3.
    3 If you do not want to use Google's "back up my data" service to restore your wi-fi passwords and such, then return to Step 1 and turn it off.
    4. Begin the factory reset with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. You'll be asked to confirm that you really want to do a factory reset and you'll be given the opportunity to clear your micro SD memory card as a part of the process. I chose not to clear my memory card because I have a 32 GB card with "tons" of music and other files that I do not want to have to restore (it would take hours).
    When should you do a factory reset? Everyone should do it before they give their phone away, sell it, or discard it. You don't want someone else to have access to your personal data! And, a factory reset can be a helpful troubleshooting tool when faced with problems.
    By the way, my factory reset did not help the video problem I was having with the Fox News app nor did it enable Google's Music app to find all of the album art on my micro SD card. Both problems persisted after the reset under GB 2.3.3.
    Finally, there are other things you can do to flush old data from your phone such as clearing the cache partition of your phone's built-in memory. This requires the use of its "Android system recover" menu. Even though I expect this cache data to be cleared during a factory reset, I did it after my reset just to make sure. Clearing the cache partition is usually what folks try before a factory rest so they can (hopefully) avoid the factory reset. I'll leave it to a Motorola staff person to go into that.

    OK, got it ...  the Power ON Factory reset procedures might have changed with GB ...
    To get to a Factory reset using the Power up method:
    1.  Power Off phone
    2. Press & Hold the HOME Button
    3. Press and Hold the Power ON button.
    You come up to the Triangle with the Exclamation mark & android guy.
    Press BOTH the Up and Down Buttons at the same time.  This brings up the Blue menu of options.
    use the Up/Down arrows to scroll thru the choices. Press the POWER Button to Select the menu item you choose.
    You can harmlessly test this and just choose to Reboot without doing anything, just to see how it works in case you ever need to do this in the future.
    edit:  It was concluded in the test group that they changed this process to align it with the new DX2 as the camera button isn't hard-wired like it is in the DX. So likely they just wanted to make this process the same for both platforms.  At least it sounds like a good reason...

  • What is B2B setup for grouping transaction sets based on criteria.

    Hi,
    Oracle B2B offers a time bound Batching feature . However to handle following case such as Batching based on Order Number it is required to define the criterion.
    Could you please provide the information on B2B Setup for grouping transactionsets based on input parameter(Invoice id OR Invoice Number or Payment ID ) passing from back end application(BPEL) to B2B.
    For count based batching , my understanding is need to pass information in the format " <BatchMode>:<BatchID>:<Count>:<timeout>:" by parameters delivered with the IP_MESSAGE_TYPE construct. Which paramter of IP_MESSAGE_TYPE construct I have to use for passing the values to B2B in the format " <BatchMode>:<BatchID>:<Count>:<timeout>:"
    I am unable to find Action name attribute of IP_MESSAGE_TYPE construct to pass the values. Please provide the required information.

    Hi Anuj,
    Thanks for the information.
    ACTION_NAME attribute is not available with SCA. Three channels (Default,AQ,JMS ) are provided in B2B adapter for connecting to B2B. Which one supports action_name attribute?
    Design Time:
    Presently by using 'Default' channel of B2B adapter i am connecting to B2B. I am unable to pass the value for b2b property "ACTION_NAME" because invoke activity does not has respective sca normalized message propertie "b2b.actionName". So i am adding input property tab in .bpel file under corresponding B2B Adapter invoke tag as given below.
    <invoke name="Invoke_Put3070EDI820"
    inputVariable="Put3070EDI820_InVar"
    partnerLink="Put3070EDI820"
    portType="ns1:B2B_send_ptt" operation="send">
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="b2b.toTradingPartnerId"
    variable="Variable_TargetTPartner"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="b2b.fromTradingPartnerId"
    variable="Variable_SourceTPartner"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="b2b.documentTypeName"
    variable="Variable_TransactionSet"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="b2b.documentProtocolVersion"
    variable="Variable_EDIVersionNo"/>
    *<bpelx:inputProperty name="b2b.actionName"*
    variable="Var_B2Baction"/>+
    </invoke>
    Defined variable ' Var_B2Baction' as string and assigned the expression as "concat('D:',bpws:getVariableData('Var_B2BBatchID'),':2:60')" and composite instance id expression "ora:getCompositeInstanceId()"mapped to 'Var_B2BBatchID' in BPEL.
    Run time :
    In application message of B2B coming the value as "b2b.actionName=D:608469:2:60". Here count coming as 2 but B2B is not grouping 2 transaction sets.Creating one EDI file for one transaction set.
    Why B2B is not considering incoming value "b2b.actionName=D:608469:2:60" for batching the transaction sets.
    Please suggest me the correct approach if i am wrong.
    Thanks&Regards,

    Hi all,
    I'm looking at putting a larger hard drive into my Ally PB. I checked OWC and they're so ridiculously cheap I'm gonna put a 160GB into it. I intend to buy a F/Wire 800 enclosure the old 2.5" hard drive. Now, here is my question: If I remove the existing hard drive and drop into a FW enclosure will I have to reformat the drive or will I be able to use it as a start up disc as is with all the current data and apps on it?

    Hey Silly Rabbit! We meet again. I didn't even realize who the original poster was. I thought it was odd that the person responding was you but it didn't match the thread I remember you from. Then I noticed that this was a different thread but you were the one asking for help!

    That's perfect! The only interface you're missing there is eSATA. Then you'd be set for life, with all current interfaces supported.
