What is a gsm sim and do they work in australia

Wanting the order an iphone 5s to Australia but not sure what GSM is and will the phone work with a normal provider like Telstra or Amaysim

What exactly do you mean by "Wanting the order an iPhone 5s to Australia"?
Where are you trying to order the phone from?  Which country and are you trying to order through an Apple online store?  If so and you are not ordering from the Australian Apple store online, then you are out of luck, because there is no international shipping.  If you want an iPhone for use in Australia, then you will have to purchase an iPhone directly from an Apple stroe in Australia or go to the Apple online store for Australia.
GSM is the normal range of phone company/carriers that all mobile phones use and an iPhone will work with most of these, but if they are supported carriers of the iPhone though.

  • What are these startup items and are they harmfull

    Hello
I Have a M55-S325. I have noticed some items on my startup list in system Configuration Utility
    TCtrlIOhook.exe
    TPSMain.exe
    Ltmoh.exe
    AGSMMSG.exe
    Apoint.exe
    TFncKy.exe
So My Question is What are these and are they harmfull
if so how do i remove them.
    PLEASE HELP

    Hi David,
The items you have listed are genuine items use by your operating system although they may be stopped if you wish without doing any real harm. It will largely depend on whether you want to use any of the functions in which they are involved.
For example, TCtrllOhook.exe and TPSMain.exe are associated with the Toshiba power management utility.
Ltmoh.exe and AGRSMMSG.exe relate to you installed modem.
Apoint.exe is associated with you pointing device (Touchpad or whatever).
TFncKY.exe is related to the Toshiba function keys feature.
Obviously, if you are not using your internal modem then the modem related items can be stopped without any ill effects, similarly the Toshiba Function keys.

  • Whats the difference between SIMS and CS-MARS?

What is the essential difference between the two(except one is from netForensics (OEM) and one's from Protego networks)?
On what basis a selection amongst the two products shall be made on a real deployment?

We used netforensics before switching to MARS a few years back. It's been quite a while now and netforensics surely has changed some since, so bear that in mind when reading these comments. When it comes right down to it, we found COST to be our primary motivation for moving. It is unlikely that we would have been able to budget for the licenses to collect events from the 250+ devices we have configured today in MARS.
Netforensics licensing is "by device". The licensing is further broken down using different classes of devices. For example, Intrusion prevention sensors used to be category 1 or 2 and desktops were category 3. Category 1 is the most expensive license, category 3 the least expensive.
Netforensics uses added-on components to support correlation and incident response. You will have to purchase them separately.
So when you're pricing out the two, be sure to include all the device licenses you think you'll ever need and also include at least the correlation add-on module. Without correlation in netforensics, you'd really be at a disadvantage when compared to MARS.
I'll mention a couple less objective differences (i.e. IMHO):
Netforensics has better reporting device support. It supports more devices and it supports them better. The classic example is Cisco's own NIDS products. MARS only gets updates ~12 weeks. Netforensics was more like ~2 weeks. MARS is very weak in this regard. Don't assume that because MARS says it supports product XYZ that it supports the latest version of product XYZ...check the versions.
Netforensics will not support as many events per second as MARS without considerable tuning. Perhaps if you installed it on one of these it would: http://www.top500.org/
Netforensics is not an "appliance" product. I think Cisco sells an "appliance-like" version, or used to, but it was not designed that way and I'd bet that it behaves much less like an appliance than MARS. This has its advantages too of course;-)
Netforensics supports failover. Because it's not an appliance, you have much more flexibility when it comes to things like backup and failover.
Netforensics scales extremely well, if you have the money.
Netforensics uses java agents to collect Windows events. I can only say one nice thing about these agents, and that is that when they work, they support encrypted communications. MARS uses Snare, which we've been very happy with but is clear text syslog.
Netforensics uses a java "fat client". It offers more functionality than the browser based MARS client.
You have to have at least one server to install netforensics on to. But, you also have to have an archive server for MARS. The netforensics server will need to be beefy, the MARS archive server will not.

  • Coupon Apps and How they work...

I would like a coupon app, but am confused about how they work?  Do you scan the barcoad of an item at the store and see if it finds a coupon for you?  And if a coupon is found, does it display a coupon for you to use at the register when you pay?
For those of you that are using a coupon app, could you explain how it works?  I would appreciate it.

I have used the old MyCoups app. The bar code was not available then. To get coupons, what I did was I sent them to my email address. After they were on my email acccount I printed them out. I know the new app includes the bar code thing. You can scan a barcode and after you do that, it'll show you where you can buy it

  • What are Crawlers(Task/Process) and how they take part during indexing

    Hi,
I'm new to TREX search Engine. i want to know that what are Crawlers task and how & when they perform their duties after the DataSource is assigned to a newly created index. I mean to say, how they are closely related to search indexes.
    Regards
    Nitin Mishra

    hi,
The crawler only searches Web sites or parts of Web sites that are not protected by robot instructions. Robot instructions are part of Internet standards. They allow Web site owners to permit or forbid the crawling of their sites or parts thereof
Depending on the type of repository, you may have to set up a crawler and a schedule.
For Web repositories, the index is updated using a crawler. If you are assigning a Web repository to an index for the first time, it is indexed immediately. You then need to regularly schedule the crawler so that the index is updated.
For hierarchical repositories, the index is updated by using events. Therefore, it is not absolutely necessary that the crawler be started at regular intervals. However, you can start the crawler at regular intervals in order to make changes in the index for which no event is triggered. This can be the case if documents have been created, changed, or deleted directly in the file system without using Knowledge Management.

  • PDF forms and how they work with different Reader versions

I'll start this off by giving a little background information and describing a workflow scenario. I work as an InHouse designer for a company that keeps the majority of the employee population always a few versions behind. Fortunately, for us designers they keep us updated, but it doesn't always play nicely when you're saving your PDFs for older versions of Acrobat Reader.
What happens is that I create a form in InDesign, export a PDF, and then create my form fields in Acrobat Pro 9 on a Mac. After saving for version 9 I then take the PDF and test within the Windows environment which our IT is enforcing Acrobat Reader 7. The PDF opens ok and I can fill out the form, but I cannot save. I then open in Acrobat Pro 7 for Windows and then it gives the option to save or make modifications.
My questions really come down to whether or not Reader 7 is doing this because of how old the technology is, or if that would change if our IT would allow Acrobat Reader 8 or 9? Now I've looked at the Acrobat Pro 9 comparison chart and it states "Enable users of Adobe Reader®   (version 8 or later) to fill in and save PDF forms locally." Does this mean that we just need version 8 or 9 and then people can save the form? What in version 7 is causing us not to be able to save? Did that change the technology in some way? I'm trying to figure out if we get IT to upgrade users to Reader 9 if this will solve the issue or will they have to install Acrobat Standard/Pro 9 to save a PDF form?
What other selling points could we make to our IT department that using Reader 9 is a lot better than using Reader 7? Any technology benefits, security or functions?
    Thanks

    ~graffiti wrote:
No version of Reader can save a filled in form unless it has been enabled first.
To enable, open the file in Acrobat then go to Advanced>Enable usage rights in Adobe Reader...
And for my standard disclaimer, if you are going to use the forms in a corporate environment, be sure to study and understand the usage limits for enabled forms (the limit is 500 uses, but there are caveats to that) in the EULA. Mostly the enabled forms are meant for very small time users. If you do not meet that requirement, Adobe sells another product that can enable files for unlimited uses but it costs in the tens of thousands of dollars and is a server side solution.
    Hey Graffii,
I enabled the usage rights and that did help with saving in Reader 7. I am a little concerned about the limit of 500 uses. Let me try and understand you a little better. I have a PDF that has a couple form fields and you're saying that the PDF can only be opened 500 times? I've never heard of restrictions on PDFs before. Does this happen after you place just 1 form field? How do I find out more information? I looked in the EULA, but found nothing.
Also, what does Adobe mean here "Enable users of Adobe Reader®   (version 8 or later) to fill in and save PDF forms locally." Are they saying that you need Reader 8 or later to read a form or that you need Acrobat Pro 8 or later to enable the form feature?
It's all very confusing because one of the features they tout in version 9 is the ability to save forms locally, but once I enable the form I could save it with Reader 7. It's hard to tell if they are referring to Reader 9 or Acrobat Pro 9.
    Thanks

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions
The Firefox 4.0 beta version should have installed in a separate program folder, so your old setup should still be there.<br />
    See:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
If you do want to use the 4.0 beta version then you should create a new profile for that version.<br />

  • HT5554 My phone keeps saying invalid SIM and doesn't work.  How do I fix this? I didn't even know iphones had SIM cards

If i turn my phone off for a while and turn it back on, I will have service for a couple of minutes.  And then it says failure SIM or invalid SIM or no SIM. Then I have no service and can only use my phone with wifi making it no better than a ipod

Could be a bad SIM card or an iPhone hardware problem.
Try a new SIM card first. You can get a new SIM card at an ATT retail store. After explaining the problem, there should be no charge for the new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • Smart Mail Boxes and how they work?

I am having some difficulty with Smart Mail Boxes, either that or I am not understanding them correctly
So I created a Smart Mail Box so that all the mail which included a particular recipient would go into it, which it does. But I also have the mail in my in-box as well
What I was hoping is that all that particular mail would just go into the smart mail box and not be in the in-box.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Philip

No, you are not doing anything wrong. The original e-mail stays in your inbox until deleted, which will also delete it from the Smart Folder. The Smart Mailbox is a 'sorting' tool, but it doesn't actual contain the e-mails.

  • Skype phone numbers and how they work?

ok so here is what I know. With skype you can choose the country of the phone number you want your phone number to originate from. So if I choose my number to be an Australian number any person calling me from Australia will be charged at a local rate if from the same state.
    This is my question.
If I set up my phone number to be an Australian number, then I travel overseas to Canada and someone calls my number, what will the rate of charge be for the caller? will it still be a local call since the number is an Australian number or will it not work at all????
And will I in return be able to call back to Australia at a local rate since my number is australian??
Also, Im assuming I need to be connected through wi-fi for someone to call my skype account from a land line phone?

    Kristle wrote:
On my bill there are several int/md messages with no phone numbers
That is your phone accessing the internet, or media data.  Generally this was how older phones that accessed WAP sited reported their usage, instead of the way newer phones using the WWW report usage.

On several computer stations, we receive the error message -200220 when selecting any instrument on the Instrument Launcher when the Run option is pressed. This message has not been cleared after the computer was rebooted and the Box power cycled. What is wrong?

From the screenshot you attached, it looks like there is no device specified on the front panel, which means that the error you see is correct, the device identifier is invalid.  Are there any available devices populated in the Device control?  Does your ELVIS II show up as connected in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)?
