What is meant by an Activity in Business One

Hi All,
What is meant by an Activity in Business One.I studied it in Business One Help, but it is not much helpful.I want a brief description regarding Activities(help me by taking an example).Where this activity used(only in Sales Opportunities and Service modules).
Help me regarding this or send me the related links that suit to my Question
Thanks & Regards,
Saleem

Maybe I don't understand your question, but I think this is no a SDK issue.
An activity can be a call, a meeting, a task, any interaction with a customer that you want to keep record.
So, lets say you have a sales opprotunity, and in the first meeting you came up with a follow up meeting. Then, you open the sales opportunity in SAP, and add an activity for that opportunity, detailing when, where is the meeting, who will go,what do you have to show, etc. You can set a reminder so you don't miss this meeting.
Hope this helps

  • What is meant by Portal Activity Report

    HI Gurus,
What is the need of portal activity report.
    and how to create it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi Dharani,
The portal activity report feature enables portal administrators to gather and
present information about portal activity, including information about the users who logged on to the portal and about the content that was viewed.
To start the Portal Activity report tool.follow these steps:
    Browse to System Administration.
--->Select System Configuration & Browse to Service Configuration.
--->In Service Configuration go to Applications.
--->In Applications select the folder ‘com.sap.portal.activityreport.core’ . Inside that browse to Services.
--->select ActivityReport and set the activate property to true.
    --->then, Restart the system
In the PCD create a iview from the template ‘Portal Activity Report iView’.
Set the type of report and the reporting period.
Add the roles and pages whose report is to be recorded.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks,

  • What is meant by "an ee sits in one company and taxed to other?

    hi experts,

  • What is meant by return tables?

what is meant by return table?
    with one example

    hi
Return tables are used in cases where one record from the transaction translates into multiple records - something like cost allocations - you book an expense to the company for $1000 and that $1000 has to be translated into
    $200 for your cost center
$500 for the general cost center
    $300 to the project
this data ofcourse need not come from the transaction where you will have one line saying $1000 - you could have these weights maintained in a separate table in BW and do the cost allocation while receiving the data.
You can find a lot of information about the same in the FI related extractors / Update rules - or even more specific - the CO area..
    hope it helps..
    cheers.

  • What is the biggest SAP Business One database you have ever seen?

    Hi All
I'm trying to determine what capabilities of how big a SAP Business One database can become without it becomming to slow to work with... The reason for this question is that have a customer with a database of 27GB ... The customer have only been in production for one year, but because they roughly place 1500 sales orders each day the growth rate is big...
So the question is simple how many GB is your largest customer and how does the system manage?

    Hi Rasmus,
I'd agree with the above, the overall size isn't as important as the hardware that they are using. I've seen a 75GB database system which was suffering badly because they hadn't specc'd the disk I/O correctly although memory and CPU were fine (we didn't spec this, it was a site we were called in to help on when they started having issues). Of course, a larger database is going to have other issues (eg backup and restore times, patch upgrade times etc) and you'd probably want to be more proactive on database maintenance than on a smaller database (eg you don't want to have autogrow kicking in during the day so you'd need to make sure that there is sufficient space in the database at all times).
If you are concerned about database size then one option is to clear the history tables. This can reduce the database up to 50% but, of course, you'll lose the change history.
Database archiving is still rumoured to be coming out in the next version.
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both   on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
    Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
    System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
    Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
    Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
    Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility

  • Shorten Business One Deployment (Follow-Up from P2P)

Deploying SAP Business One Server and Clients can be time cumbersome and time consuming. We definitly have the goal to further streamline the installation experience of SAP Business One. Please share with us:
    - What are you main challenges when installing Business One Server / Client?
    - What are you main challenges when deploying a patch?
    - We have the vision of installing Clients and/or patches with "one click".  Please share with us your ideas to achieve this objective.
This thread is continuation from 'Shorten Business One deployment' <a href="http://p2p.sap.com/businessoneforum?type=join&login=1&uid=41FB661A76CED536C825C4E2B6FF4397&cid=91&go=z37225">discussion</a> in P2P SAP Business One Forum (Product Development Collaboration).
Previous discussion on P2P is summarized in the attached file.

    - - What are you main challenges when installing Business One Server / Client?
The challenges sometimes come from the customer which would not like to invest more money to make their SBO installation more smooth. E.g: the HQ is in city A and the client is in city B, C and D. using V-Sat and Citrix maybe could solve but high investment cost. Another e.g. is slow connection to server from branches to HQ although using citrix + ICA.
    - - M personal challenges are the patch level sometimes replace or even delete some functionality in previous patch, for example. SBO 2005A SP 01 PL 18 upgrade to PL 27, it made receipt from production can't be above PO quantity.
-- I think it is OK but I can't imagine the result will make it work well or not.

  • What is meant by " Activation in Parallel"in DSO

    Hi,
After loading the data into  DSO , when we R.C>  manage> rEQUEST TAB> select the request and click on activate .We get a screen with different options    Like...Activation in parallel,Generation of SID's,start..etc
    now my query is
What are these options meant for
    1) activation in paralle.
    2)Generation of sid 's
Can you please tell me why and when we use them.?Because ,we will  Already set this options in setting of DSO.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Naresh.

    Hi,
Activation in parallel means morethan one request gets activated at same time. When you have multiple requests which do not have overlapping data selection, you can activate such requests in parallel. This setting allows you to break up the activation process into mulitple background or dialog processes. Dialog are usually recommended but could depend on your system.By default in BI 7.0, it comes configured to perform 3 parallel processes. but you can check to see how your system is configured. Tran RSDSO_SETTINGS lets you change the setting for a specific DSO (ODS) where as RSBATCH covers a variety of systemwide parallel settings, e.g. rollup, aggregate fill, etc.

  • What is meant by copying control ?

What is meant by copying control ? Why do we use it ?

    HI,
When you create a new transaction that relates to an existing transaction, you can create the new transaction as a follow-up transaction. When you do this, data from the original transaction is copied to the new transaction and the transactions become linked. This linking provides you with information about the history of a particular business transaction. You can view this history in the Transaction History assignment block in each business transaction.
    EXAMPLE
You receive information that a sales customer has accepted a quotation. You search for the original quotation and create a sales order as a follow-up transaction. From the sales order, you create an activity as a follow-up transaction, with a task to call the customer. In this example, the sales order is a preceding transaction of the activity, and the quotation is a preceding transaction of the sales order.

  • Error during activation of business content

    Hi
I am facing problems during the activation of the standard business content.
I am trying to activate the infocube 0ic_c03 material stock movement. We are using BW version 3.5 patch level 13.
while activating the business content and using the grouping "in data flow before" there are several errors which come up during the simulation install such as
infoobject XXX is not available in version A
Error when reading data target XXXX
    Data source XX not mantained
Key figure XXX is not available in version D
In order to avoid activating pre-installed objects i have deselected them.
I am in urgent need of some help. So any ideas that will help to resolve my problem are assured of being rewarded handsomely!!
    thanks in advance!

    Hi Everyone!
Thanks the responses have been encouraging and i do see a glimmer of hope
since i am fairly new at this I wanted to know
    1. does it make sense to install (or activate) the infoobjects which are shown as not available in version A individually and then trying the install of the infocube. It does remove the errors associated with the infoObject as i saw with one infoobject. Does this have any other impact
    2. For the data sources i went to rsa5 on the source r3 system. but the data sources listed in the errors were not found (the data source errors that are shown are of the type 0DBDUNS_IMPORT_XXX). Also it is my understanding that the data sources that are required for the inventory cube are 2lis_03_bx , 2lis_03_bf  and 2lis_03_um. Is this correct? I do not see them indicated in these errors. What do i do once i am in rsa5 and i select these datasources?
    thanks in advance!

  • What is meant by noted items

    hi all,
can any one explain me what is meant by noted items incase of G/l ,AR & AP. as i found this word in FBL3N ,FBL1N & FBL5N also?
    thanks in advance...
    regds,
    raman

    Hi,
Unlike manual accounting, you  can make certain transaction in SAP which don't have a impact on accounting but are necessary for dicision making or related to any future transactions. These are called Noted items. Noted items are only posted to one side of accounting.
Eg: If we send a request to customer for down payment, it is not a business transations and have no impact on accounting, but we can pass a entry in SAP for such transaction and it will be a noted item. When actual down payment is received, this noted item is cleared.
Reward points if answer is helpful.

  • Question on activation of Business content.

    Hi friends,
Our client is implementing BW , and we are in the process of activation of business content, I already some content activated already , for Porcurement, right not I see , in Administrator work bench > Infoprovider TAB>0MMPUR_IO and all the master data objects under neath it and the same under Infosources tab also , so what is the grouping they might have follwed in installing and with what activation they must have started with ( IO, Infoarea, Insource..data targets ..)?
Once we know what they have followed with , we want to continue the same for others .
    thank you.

You can still activate content with grouping as required but in the process just make sure you set/flag  the Match(x)or Copy and Installation will not impact/overwrite already activated objects.
