What is the correct wording to connect to an SQL Server Express 2014 database?

I am connecting to an Access 2007 database:
oleConnection = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\\...\\Db.accdb");
What is the correct wording to connect to an SQL Server Express 2014 database?

Hello,
Please make sure you change RemoteServer with the computer name of the intended SQL Server server.
Make sure the SQL Server instance have enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols. Use the following article to enable them:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191294.aspx
Start SQL Server Browser Service using SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Hope this helps.

  • Can't connect to my sql server express 14 database following an automatic update on my pc [Closed]

    hi
    following an automatic update a few minutes ago that resulted in a pc re-start, i cannot connect to my database anymore.
    is there any solution to overcome this issue?
    A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
    ps: i never got server or instance related error before the update
    Cheers

    in case it might help, i've finally found the solution:
    -enable/start sql server browser from sql server configuration manager
    -update status to "enabled" for all protocol names in my instance

  • What is the correct procedure to connect and collect events from IPS through SDEE

    What is the correct procedure to connect and collect events from IPS through SDEE?
    We are a 3rd party application, that needs to collect and analyze the IPS events for a client.
    Currently the approach we are following is
    1) get a SubscriptionId using the URL below
    https://IP_Of_IPS/cgi-bin/sdee-server?action=open&events=evIdsAlert&force=yes
    This gets us a subscriptionId which is used in step 2
    2) Collect events from the url below
    https://IP_Of_IPS/cgi-bin/sdee-server?confirm=yes&action=get&subscriptionId=sub-sample&startTime=1362699903575432000
    a few more notes here are
    - starttime is current time in nanoseconds
    the peculiar problem here is that, even though we specify todays date, SDEE returns us the events from mid Feb (today is march 7)
    we did try a few combinations, but are out of ideas.
    any help or direction would be appreciated

    This is more an application issue than an IPS issue.
    Have you compared your app against other apps [IME]?

  • What is the correct adapter to connect my Macbook pro with mini-dvi to my TV with Scart

    I have a MacBook Pro with mini-DVI and I want to connect it to my TV which has only a scart thing.
    Can I use the mini-DVI to Video-Adapter and then a Video to Scart-Adapter?
    Thanks for your help!

    So of course you've corrected the title : "What is the right PLUG to connect my macbook pro to my TV ?"
    OK so a bit more info : my TV is a Sony Trinitron TV.
    It has the yellow/red/white plugs. I don't believe it has anything more sophisticated or recent than that.
    Thanks for your help !

  • SQL Server Express 2014 on Win8.1: Could not find the Database Engine startup handle

    Hello,
    I tried to follow all the similarly titled posts in this forum, yet no solution seems to work, so I hope I can find some up-to-date suggestion here (most of the older posts refer to versions from 2008 to 2012...).
    I have installed Visual Studio 2013 (with the latest Update 2 RC) on a freshly installed development workstation with Win 8.1 with all its updates. Now I'd want to install SQL Server 2014 Express, but the setup keeps failing with the dreaded "Could
    not find the Database Engine startup handle" error (the log follows below).
    What I tried:
    1) download again and repair. Same error.
    2) completely uninstall by launching setup.exe /Action=uninstall (success), then rebooting the OS, then installing again. Same error. I did this twice, the second time I also manually removed any directory left out in C:\Program Files etc.
    When I launch the setup, I select all the components for installation in the package SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe (1.12 GB, last downloaded today -Apr 3, 2014-), and accept all the defaults including the proposed services accounts. There is no preexisting
    SQL Server instance, as expected.
    The setup takes its time, and finally fails with the error quoted above. I really do not want to reformat my HD and fully reconfigure my workstation, which took about 3 days... Could anyone suggest a solution to have SQL Server 2014 setup so I can start
    developing instead of wasting time in administering the system?
    Thanks to all! The log follows.

    Thank you, it worked! I suppose that it was really your nr.3 which made the difference. I changed NT Service\MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS to NT AUTHORITY\System for the Data service. I'll then change it again as suggested (any suggestion about a "standard"
    account to be used here?), even if this is a development workstation using SQL Server Express only as a local database for debugging, so security is not really a big concern.
    Thanks for the feedback.Ya I know No3 was real step but just added more info so as to rule out any other possibility.
    No not as such, you wont believe,quite few pf my clients I have worked for keep it with local system and they have not complained yet ,they are afraid to change account as few of them faced issue SQL Server not coming online due to logon failure( after changing
    startup account to some domain a and that was happening due to some AD policy.But if you have nay plans to move Critical database in production which would be act as Database to some Internet facing application please follow my suggestion
    of running SQL Server with Least privileged domain account.

  • What is the correct way to import AVCHD into Final Cut Express?

    The Final Cut Expres user manual (p. 221) says to import AVCHD footage with HDV Apple Intermediate Codec: "Important: Use the HDV - Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setup for ingesting AVCHD footage."
    But, Easy Setup has options for both HDV AIC AND AVCHD AIC.  Why are there choices for AVCHD if the manual says to import AVCHD with HDV?

    The manual is incorrect/human error/typo.
    HDV and AVCHD do share the Apple Intermediate Codec as all this incoming footage will be converted to AIC so FCE can work with it on a frame by frame basis.
    Call up the FCE>Easy Setups and look at the options.
    You will notice 6 options (FCE 4.0.1) for 1080i with differing frame sizes and frame rates.
    Only ONE of these is correct for the type of footage to be captured/ingested from the camera.
    You need to know what the camera settings are, then output to FCE with an exact matching Easy Setup.
    These days one camera can be set to different options making this decision one based on knowing how to operate the camera menu and select the right options.
    When an FCE Easy Setup is changed only NEW Sequences will reflect the change not existing ones. In fact, in many cases, if the Easy Setup and incoming footage don't match it simply won't work causing the user to curse the Apple software.
    First step is to select the correct Easy Setup then capture/ingest.
    For AVCHD it will be an AVCHD - Apple Intermediate Codec........................
    Example:
    Camera has shot AVCHD 1920x1080i50
    Easy Setup will be AVCHD - Apple Intermedaite Codec 1920x1080i50
    The above example is for PAL interlaced, that's what i50 means.
    NOTE:   FCE will not work directly with p (progressive) footage so make sure your camera shoots i (interlaced).

  • What is the correct answer is this question is sql ?

    hi .. please i need correct answer in this question ..
    View the Exhibit and examine the structure of the PRODUCTS table.
    Using the PRODUCTS table, you issue the following query to generate the names, current list price, and
    discounted list price for all those products whose list price falls below $10 after a discount of 25% is applied
    on it.
    SQL>SELECT prod_name, prod_list_price,
    prod_list_price - (prod_list_price * .25) "DISCOUNTED_PRICE"
    FROM products
    WHERE discounted_price < 10;
    The query generates an error.
    What is the reason for the error?
    A-The parenthesis should be added to enclose the entire expression.
    B-The double quotation marks should be removed from the column alias.
    C-The column alias should be replaced with the expression in the WHERE clause.
    D-The column alias should be put in uppercase and enclosed with in double quotation marks in the WHERE clause.

    Hi,
    Have you taken the time to determine what happens when you perform the requested actions?
    If you have access to Oracle Database it should be less than a 10 minute exercise.
    At a minimum, using hosted Oracle Application Express you have access to Oracle Database.
    If you've done it, what were the results? There should be a telling error message.

  • What are the Basic Differences between Oracle and  MS-SQL server Database?

    Hello,
            anybody pls Guide me about the Differences between Oracle and MS-SQL server Database.and also IBM Databases also
    Regards,
    Balaram

    SQL Server only works on Windows-based platforms, including Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows CE.
    In comparison with SQL Server , OracleDatabase supports all known platforms, including Windows-based platforms, AIX-Based Systems, Compaq Tru64 UNIX, HP 9000 Series HP-UX, Linux Intel, Sun Solaris and so on.
    The SQL Server  advantages:
    SQL Server  holds the top TPC-C performance and price/performance results.
    SQL Server  is generally accepted as easier to install, use and manage.
    The Oracle  Database advantages:
    Oracle  Database supports all known platforms, not only the Windows-based platforms.
    PL/SQL is more powerful language than T-SQL.
    More fine-tuning to the configuration can be done via start-up parameters.

  • SQL Server Express 2014 service has to be restarted for users to connect.

    We have recently upgraded from Server 2003 with MSSQL to Server 2012 R2 with SQL express 2014. When we moved all the databases and permissions to the new server, no one had any issues connecting to the database.
    Now it seems that after long periods of time, we are having to restart the SQL service in order for the users to connect. I am not "well versed" in SQL and was looking for some input from the forum.
    I know you will most likely need more information so please let me know what you would need so I can further troubleshoot this issue.
    Thanks for your time and help.

    Could you please examine the event viewer (Control Panel – Administrative Tools) and share with us any errors you may find?

    server ./sqlexpress retains references to the deleted databases showing up in ssms connect to server. How do I get rid of those references please. I am using vs2010 and vs 2012 express.
    I have tried connecting to the databases using ssms but since the databases don't exist the connection fails. There's also a question of passwords since i'm using sql asuthentication and these databases were used over a year ago. Quite simply I don't know what
    to try and a search on re-initialization on the web only comes up with install, or re-install and seems to center around 2005 versions of vs

    Can you try detach option? Right click on db name and choose detach
    If that also doesn't work try Take Offline option.
    This has worked for me in the past.

  • Having problems connecting Coldfusion10 with sql server express 2012

    Hi,
    I am having problems setting up a datasource for a local sql express 2012 server. Its running as the default instance. Connections are working with ODBC and client told just not Coldfusion.
    When I try to set up a connection using the sql driver I get this error:
    Connection verification failed for data source: Leaf
    java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket to host and port: 127.0.0.1:1433. Reason: Invalid argument: connect
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket to host and port: 127.0.0.1:1433. Reason: Invalid argument: connect
    When I try a Socket connection with an ODBC connection I setup in windows I get this error:
    Connection verification failed for data source: LeafDB
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]Internal network error, connection closed.
    The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver]Internal network error, connection closed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi Rossco199,
    The issue is likely caused by you not having yet assigned port 1433 in SQL Express itself. Follow the procedure described on the following page, and you should solve the problem: http://www.tensixconsulting.com/2012/02/sqlserverexception-the-tcpip-connection-to-the-hos t-port-1433-has-failed/
    In particular, remember to assign port 1433 to 127.0.0.1 and to IPAll. Also set 'Active' and 'Enabled' to 'Yes' for the IP 127.0.0.1. While you're at it, if 'Named Pipes' is disabled, you should right-click on it and select 'enable'. Afterwards, restart the Windows service 'SQL Server(SQLEXPRESS)'.
    It is advisable to allow ColdFusion server authentication. However, the SQL Express server is configured by default to allow only Windows authentication. This conflict may lead to errors.
    Should you then encounter the dreaded Error 233: "No process is on the other end of the pipe", proceed as follows. Open the tool Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Right-click on the name of your database server, then on Properties. In the user interface that opens, click on Security. Select the combined 'SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode'. Restart the service 'SQL Server(SQLEXPRESS)'.

  • Connecting to MS sql server express 2008

    Hello
    I am trying to make a connection to a locally installed SQL server.
    So far i have created a new Database called Webtek.
    I have added the sqljdbc4.jar files to my project (i'm using eclipse)
    Im an trying to connect to the database using the following command: String connectionUrl = "jdbc:sqlserver://127.0.0.1;instanceName=Webtek;user=guest;";
    This however only results in a timeout.
    Thanks.

    //url here
    String url = "";
    //driver name
    String driver = "";
    //user name

                try {

                    System.out.println("Database connection established");

  • What is the correct URL to connect to my Sqlbase DB

    I have a simple little application that is attempting to connect to a Sqlbase DB on my Windows 95 PC. The Java2 SDK version 1.3.01_01 is installed on my C:\ drive as well as the Sqlbase driver and my class file. The Sqlbase DB is on the D:\ partition of my hard drive. At first, I was having problems loading the driver using Class.forName, but that seems to be OK now (after fixing my classpath setting.) I am now getting the following error when running the program:
    SQLException: SqlbaseSession(): failure to connect to host:
    I assume the problem is with my URL string, but I'm not sure what the string should be. The database name is "EPDMO" and I can log on to it through SqlTalk using "connect EPDMO SYSADM/SYSADM". Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Correction:
    The error message is:
    SQLException: SqlbaseSession(): failure in connection to host!
    I get the following message if I put anything other than "localhost" in the URL:
    SQLException: SqlbaseSession(): failure to connect to host:

  • What are the correct settings to connect to my network?

    All attempts to connect fail with the message to check my settings.   I need to know what settings are faulty.  There is no way to obtain the answer from the manual as far as I can see.

    I have opened ports 80, 443,and 4125 to PCP.  The  router address is http://192.168.1.1, my address is 221.40.138.170.
    Thank you.
