What's Apple Care for?

If a button falls off my phone thru no fault of my own within the one year coverage period and I need to send it in to Apple why do I need to pay $30 for a loaner?

The $29 loaner fee applied to the first generation iPhone, which paid for a loaner iPhone while your iPhone was returned to Apple for inspection and testing and was optional. When making an appointment at an Apple store with such a problem, more than likely the iPhone was exchanged on the spot as long as the Apple store had service units for exchange purposes in stock.
It is my understanding the $29 fee for the iPhone 3G pays for expedited shipping for the exchange, not for a loaner iPhone, and is optional. If you make an appointment at an Apple Store with such a problem, the iPhone will be exchanged on the spot as long as the store has service units for exchange purposes in stock.

  • Why my apple care for iphone doesn't transfer to my new phone after I claim a new one from apple store ?

2 days ago my iphone fall into a sink full of water. Yesterday I went to apple store and ask for apple care for iphone and they have it. So, I bought it and registered it right away since my iphone still be in a garentee and still not surpass one year usage. Then they told me that my iphone problem considered in a "physical damage case" which they have a policy for claiming a new iphone and pay some fee. After I got my new iphone, they said that all the information and phone data which is registered into apple system about the phone and the user and bla bla bla will transfer to my new iphone. Today, I just check my phone serial number in "support & coverage " column and I found that all the phone data in apple system is already transfered from the old one to the new one EXCEPT the data of apple care that I already registered before I claimed the new phone. Now, the question is " What can I do ? " and " will it be transferd to my new iphone or I have to buy a new apple care for my NEW PHONE That I got from their service "

Placing your iPhone in the toilet was the correct thing to do but you should have purchased an android phone instead. That would have solved these issues. :-)

  • What does Apple Care cover?

I'm going to be making the switch to Apple and getting a Macbook and I'm curious as to what exactly Apple Care covers. If something happens and it accidentally breaks, will it still be covered even if it was my fault?

Essentially, AppleCare is just an extension to your standard warranty.
    Your standard warranty comes with:
    1) 90 days of phone support (for setup questions, trouble-shooting, OS X issues, Apple software questions, etc.).
    2) Hardware repairs for manufacturer defects, component failure, etc. (not user caused, and no cosmetic repairs).
AppleCare simply extends both of these warranties to 3 years maximum coverage (counted from the date of the computer's original sale).
For more information on AppleCare, you can read here:

    Hope this helps.

  • Keys getting dirty look--paint wearing off!  What does Apple do for this?

This is dismaying. I received a brand new MacBook Pro (early 2008 model) from Apple only a few months ago and the silver paint on several keys is already wearing off! They're getting that dirty look. See http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=451259
I went through something similar with an old iBook G4... On those, the keys' lettering wore off. Apple service was responsive for sure, although it was pretty silly that they kept sending me replacement keyboards Instead of individual keys or decals. After pushing by me, they even sprung for one of those iSkin plasticky keyboard covers (which turned out it interferes with typing and some say can cause a heat problem). Eventually, they sent me a 4th keyboard that didn't wear out at all. So, it seems that they fixed that issue.
Has Apple solved this paint wearing problem for the MBP's? Do I just go the Apple Care route--again-- and do they send out an entire keyboard? What have other people experience and done?
In this case, obviously, they can't send decals as this keyboard is the backlit (underlit) kind!

This is a known issue with the Early 2008 MBP (as well as earlier models). It has nothing to do with dirty hands, or lotions or hands or anything else. Just from plain old use, it wears down the paint on the keys.
The MBP keyboard keys are no longer removable one by one on that model and onward -- you have to bring your MBP into an Apple Store (or call Apple Care) - they will take it in, change it out for a new keyboard (its under warranty for one year, and if you have Apple Care for two additional years). If you are beyond the one year warranty and did not purchase Apple Care, then you will have to pay to have it replaced (probably a couple hundred dollars plus shipping).
The turnaround for something like that is usually about a week if you have to send it in, and a day if you go to the Apple Store. The Apple Store, after deeming it a repair issue, will order the keyboard. Then they will call you to bring in your MBP and leave it for the time it is required for them to fix it -- usually an afternoon, or overnight.
But this is a well-documented and much discussed issue over the years -- it occured to my old MBP as well. Luckily, I have three apple stores all within a half hour drive of me, so I don't worry about those sorts of things. But it's annoying if you have to send it it.

  • How can I register Apple care for my iPad if my ipad's warranty is not expire yet?

Apple care for my iPad will be expire in November 14, 2013. I want to extend my iPad's warranty. I already bought Apple Care warranty but when I register online it said I already had a warranty for my iPad. The question is, how can I extend my iPad's warranty?

You can only buy apple care once to extend your original warranty from one year to two. You can't keep reupping it every year if I'm understanding that's what you're trying to do.
After your device is two years old it's out of warranty and not eligible for any warranty from Apple (some retailers sell you up to 3 years of coverage, but you had to get that with the device)

  • What does apple care cover on an iphone5s?

What does apple care cover when it comes to muffled speakers?

They will replace the iPhone for no charge if it is found to be defective. If the speakers were damaged by an accident or exposure to moisture it will cost you $79 USD to get a replacement.

  • Worth getting apple care for the Retina model?

Is it worth geting apple care for the Retina models? have read they can be dodgy...
Since I will have a one year warrenty could I just skip out on apple care untill a month before the warrenty expires as the warrenty will cover all my needs?

From the sounds of it, the Retina 2012 model is so not worth it. I assume that the 2012 retina model is almost like a testing ground to build on future retina models so there will be a lot of bugs to sort out... i assume such bugs like program capabilities with retina will be sorted out by the time the 2013 model comes around?
Have to agree completely with that.
If I was in the market for a new Mac it certainly would not be one of the Retina models. Way to expense for what you get and then there are all the problems with it.
You know I've been doing my work and having fun on computer for over 20 years and never needed a screen like the Retina to actually get things done and make some money.

  • If I get apple care for my iphone 4...

Hi there, if I get apple care for my iphone 4 (next up to be discontinued) and it breaks within the 2 year coverage and after it is discontinued what will happen?
Will I be reimbursed, given a refurbished phone, a newer model etc. etc.

Apple replaces devices like for like. For example, they no longer sell iPhone 3GS's but if you had one serviced right now it would be replaced by the exact same model.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 4S (with Sprint)

I also have an Apple Care+ question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. The carrier will be Sprint, however I don't believe that matters for my question.
The Sprint representative that I was talking to the other day said that even though Apple Care + covers accidental damage (I have read the official product description) that it does not cover screen breakage. And that if you crack the glass screen you still have to either pay to have it replaced by a third party or purchase a new phone at the unsubsidized price. I found that comment interesting but I did not want to challenge her on the subject.
I do not see anything in the Terms and Conditions that excludes the breaking of the screen.
Did I miss that section in the Terms and Conditions? Is what she was telling me true? I see that as the #1 reason to purchase Apple Care+ for the unit.
    Thanks,
    Timm

If you want to return your iPhone, you must do so through whoever you purchased the iPhone from. If that was someone other than an Apple Store, either online or physical, then that dealer's return policies will apply; Apple will have nothing to say about it. You may have to talk to Sprint in regards to your contract with them. I believe you have 30 days to return your phone and cancel your contract, but I'm not certain about Sprint.
iTunes works fine under Windows on many, many systems, including Acer. Perhaps if you'll post details here, someone can help you sort things out. The thread you refer discusses an earlier version of iTunes and probably no longer applies even if that were the problem on your system, though I cannot say with certainty.  Note that if you are running Windows 7 Starter on your netbook, that version is reported to have problems with a lot of software, not just iTunes. Many people have installed and run iTunes quite successfully, though.
they claim iTunes is a whole seperate brand from Apple computers they know nothing about
I don't know who you talked to, but either there was a misunderstanding - the statement would apply perhaps to the iTunes Store, but not to iTunes as a program - or that person was an idiot. iTunes, the program, is most definitely an Apple product and should be supported fully by the Apple Store technical staff.
    Regards.

  • My ipod 4 has apple care for 1 year i just got it can i get a new one because it broke and i pay for the apple care can i get a newe one

my ipod 4g has the apple care for 1 year can you get a new one for it because something happen to it the mirrer broke yes or no

AIf the iPod broke because of a defect then yes, Apple will replace the iPod if it is within the warranty period.  A broken/cracked screen is not covered.  However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store they will exchange your iPod at no cost if it has a broken/cracked screen.

There was a security patch made available a few months ago.  So, if you're up to date, you're fine.  Here's a link to check whether or not you have any problems with that:

If the site is green, you're OK.
The actual virus attack happened a year ago,but the FBI hasput up servers to keep people on the internet, until now.

can I buy an Apple care for a second hand machine which has recently expired its service coverage

While I don't know about the second hand machine consideration, Applecare needs to be bought during the first year while standard warranty coverage is in effect. Once that expires, you can't buy Applecare for a system.

  • What is Apple doing for those iMac owners who failed to have their Seagate HD replaced by April 12, 2013?

What is Apple doing for those iMac owners who failed to have their Seagate HD replaced by April 12, 2013?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you purchased the iMac less than 3 years ago and it has got one of the defective hard disks, Apple will still replace it for free. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine and take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller. A Genius will check if your Mac was purchased less than 3 years ago.
If the computer is older, you will have to pay. Note that if you already have the iMac on April 12th, 2013 and before, and you knew that your iMac had a defective hard disk, you should have taken it even if the hard drive was working correctly
