I like Mozilla.
I like Firefox.
In recent months I have experienced and accumulation of problems. Today (September 25th, 2011) I have set about trying to deal with them.
After consulting your Troubleshooting Section I have made a range of changes that I hope shall resolve problems like freezing, unresponsive scripts, non responding windows and browser crashes.
At the time of writing I have rebooted after making those changes so I have yet to discover whether they solve those problems.
However, I have chosen o write now as I already am re-experiencing the first problem I encounter when I boot my PC, i.e. Firefox takes three minutes at least to start after I click the icon. Once it has started, however, ne Firefox windows open promptly.
How do I solve this? I rememebr a time when Firefox opened with lightning speed whenever I clicked the icon.

In my experience t here are two different problems with the speed of firefox on startup
# your os and setup
# firefox - and exactly what you use with it
Some factors will be down to your OS and for instance what does start up initially, many of those factors will affect other programmes/applications and not only firefox.
Some other factors depend on Firefox and how you set that up, I always like to have the option to using Firebug but realise it cold clash with other software or slow down firefox startup so I only enable it as I need it. see for instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/performance/

I have only just upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 and am having a problem with Viber. I still have an itunes backup of my phone just before the update, I restored it to this backup, followed the same process and now viber will not even work (the access code wont sms to me and the phone call option for recieving this code also come up with some error about not being able to do this at this time).
I have been able to access viber using another phone number (I have two sims which I use as I am currently overseas in south korea, my referenced australian sim has worked previously on viber overseas and I definently do have roaming on) but again I have no message history.
So to questions:
1) Why is my activation not working under my referenced australian number?
2) Can I recover all my message history which should be saved in my itunes backup? I am willing to revert to this backup state again if needed.

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

Go to Settings>General>Passcode Lock>tap Turn Passcode Lock Off, enter your "pin".
Edit: Are you saying you are getting a prompt for your email pin, or are you talking about the passcode lock that appears when you turn the phone on?

Norton antivirus says my licence have expired when switch my computer on for the first time.

I just bought new touchsmart 520-1002 ru (LN649EA). It had norton antivirus preinstalled when i started it for the first time. After few hours of working antivirus informed me that the licence have expired. But before it was like 60 days. What to do? I'm affraid of sirfing the web without antivirus protection. Welcome to HP's forum and your new computer. Nothing to worry about. That was a trial verson. What ever time limit they gave it has expired. I think you miss read it It flashes a reminder all the time. You can still use your computer. Until you purchase or install an anti virus software. The only thing Norton will not do is up date it's self but it will still scan your computer when you open it up and click scan. Try to get anti virus software. Titanium Maximum 2012, McAfee, and Norton are the top choices to choose from. Try to stay a way from the real cheep ones like Kerpsky that will not protect your computer. My freind installed Kerpsky asked to fix his lap top. Well I did fix it first thing I did was get it on line and run Trend House Call it found over 250 different virus. Some of the worst ones I had to manually removed. Trend House call is a free scan. Trend.com are the one who make Titanium Maximum Security 2012.
You just bought this computer Mac's are great computers but you are very limited to what you can do on them. This one will last you for a very long time ounce we get the bugs out it. My Touchsmart 600-1050 is going strong going into it's third year now. Just had it's frist full recovery done now my computer runs faster and much better then when I first bought it. Yes I had some minor issues fixed on it at first like anything you buy today is not perfect HP covored it all during the one year warranty. My recovery was performed because I picked up a new virus that no anti virus on the market could delete it had to be manually delete it but to much damaged was caused in the operating control software. My iPad Mini was locked up today (for the first time) on a boot screen, with a Debugger Message: Panic. Should I bother trying to fix, or return to store?

My iPad Mini locked up for the first time today. A boot screen, with among many other things, a Debugger Message: Panic. Is there a fix for this even though I can't seem to even get it to reboot past this error, or am I wasting my time and need to return it?

App freezes when JComboBox.addItem is called for the first time

I have a Swing app that intermittenly freezes when the users go
to a certain screen. I've tracked it down to a specific line. There is
a JComboBox on the screen. The application freezes when the
app tries to load the first item into the JComboBox using
myComboBx.addItem(Object o). I pass in an Integer.
The strange thing is that this only happens once a day, or
sometimes less, in a group of 4 users. But when it does
freeze, it always freezes on that line. After freezing, the user
can go back into the app, and go to the same screen(no
data has changed), and they can get in without it freezing.
So it seems to have nothing to do with the data - it's purely
intermittent.
The only thing I can think of is that the underlying native peer
for the JPanel that the JComboBox is on, has not been created
yet, and I'm trying to load an item into a combo box that doesn't
really exist yet. Anyone know if this is possible? It may only
happen when the user's machine is running very slow.
I've included the relevant code below. Any feedback would
be greatly appreciated.

I am facing a similar problem with JComboBox. It is responding to the first time when items are added to the combo box. Later on, listener does not seem to listen if items are added to the combo box. Can anyone think of a solutiuon for this problem. (it works fine in 1.3 but does not respond in 1.4)

Apps bundle suggested when I joined apple store for the first time

I keep getting a notice on opening Firefox for the first time saying I need to update and when I click on it the thing keeps saying it is connecting. It does not look like a real Firefox request so I've been closing it.

Every morning when I turn on my computer and start Firefox I get a notice that I need to update Firefox. When I click to do so it just keeps running saying "Connecting".
I do have a Print Screen of it and would send it if you want.

If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
Do a clean (re-)install:
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

PCM stuck at 100% when using any audio program for the first time

I've had this issue for some months now after an update and couldn't find any solution anywhere so help would be appreciated.
First time I run an audio program after boot PCM gets stuck at 100% and can't be decreased. Also, i3status's PCM info switches from 77% to 850%. No idea if the previous is useful. The problem disappears once that program is closed and PCM is changeable again. I'm using alsa and the chip is Conexant CX20551 (Waikiki), the issue persists even if I add the user to the audio group.

I replaced the symlink with a folder named "Pictures" and it actually worked. At least a new menu shows up. BTW Photoshop Elements does not complain.

How to set PSD as the default for Ctrl-S when saving a layered DNG for the first time?

Something has changed in my settings!! My Edit>Preferences>File Handling is checked to require Ask Before Saving Layered TIFF Files.
Today I hit Ctrl-S with a layered DNG and it saved it as an Edit.tif
What do I need to change so that the default on Ctrl-S from a Layered DNG is a Layered PSD?

When I start Firefox for the first time, 1 Firefox.exe shows up in the Task Manager (8,180K), but Firefox doesn't start. When I click on it again, a second Firefox.exe shows in the Task Manager, and Firefox opens. Is the first one a Trojan?

Sometimes Firefox does load into memory but won't show your start page.
Simply open the task manager, click on the "Processes" tab and kill the (two or more) firefox.exe processes you've just created. Double-click your Firefox icon and everything should be back to normal.

I 've just installed Firefox for the first time (v9.0.1) & can't save any bookmarks. I don't get an error message & it looks like my bookmark saved but when I go in to look at my bookmarks, there are none there.

I'm also having trouble importing my favourites from IE. I've gone through the steps to Import Data for Another Browser and it looks like it has worked but when I go to view my bookmarks it is still empty.
