I 've just installed Firefox for the first time (v9.0.1) & can't save any bookmarks. I don't get an error message & it looks like my bookmark saved but when I go in to look at my bookmarks, there are none there.

I'm also having trouble importing my favourites from IE. I've gone through the steps to Import Data for Another Browser and it looks like it has worked but when I go to view my bookmarks it is still empty.

Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-bookmarks?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Bookmarks this.] You can look at the star in the location (address) bar. If it's colored, it usually means the page has been successfully bookmarked.
For importing from Internet Explorer please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20favorites%20and%20other%20data%20from%20Internet%20Explorer this.] You can also try the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File HTML] method.

  • Opened Firefox this morning and it was like I had just installed it for the first time

What is going on with Firefox. Everything was fine last night. This morning I opened it to check the weather and what opened was a new Firefox asking me if I wanted to make it my default browser. All my bookmarks were there. All the add-ons were there but none of them worked and. I installed Personnas and it worked and then I closed it down. Now I went to open it and it won't open so I'm writing you in Google Chrome. I have loved Firefox but I think it's getting like Internet Explorer. Nothing but problems and doesn't want to work half the time. How very sad.

  • I just loaded Firefox, and the first time I try to open it, I get the message "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I tried deleting and reloading to no success. Any clue about what is wrong?

I downloaded the free Firefox system from the web. I have not been able to open the system since loading it.

I can not find any of the files you address.
I am tying to install Firefox for the first time. SO, if that is the case, how can any of these various files exist? I cannot access the contents of my "Application support" folder.
I have tried to delete Firefox and start over, and the same error message comes up.
I guess my frustration is how can I have a profile if I do not have Firefox installed?

  • Installing OBIEE for the first time :(

    Hi
I am installing OBI v 10.1.3.4.1 for the first time. It is very different to other products I have installed. I have seen lots of documentation but am stuck on a couple of issues.
    1. Connecting to an Active Directory.
I can create an LDAP connection in the .rpd and assign variables for USER and GROUP, but I am stuck on how to test of this works. I am not even sure I have set it up correctly. Does anyone have any documentation on this? What I have found via Google hasnt been too helpful.
How do I add AD users to OBI? Import doesnt work for AD, only LDAP.
    2.
    Using Oracle Smartview.
I have read the documentation as to how to provide a link to download smartview for end users, but dont know how to actually use Smartview with OBI. The doc says I need APS, which I have installed, but to deploy APS, you need Shared Services as well, it then gets silly... I just want to know simply how to u install OBI so Smartview can use it, then how to connect SV to OBI?
I can separate these threads into 2 questions if required, but they are both issues during my installation.
    regards.

  • [solved]Installing Windows for the First Time Ever.

I'm not unhappy with Linux or anything.  I just finally need Windows (for the first time in many years).  I'm not really a n00b either, but I figured forum is where this post belongs.
The dual boot guides that I've seen so far have two differences from what I plan to do (I'm not sharing a HD, I have a separate SSD for Windows, and the other guides assume you already have windows, and show you how to install Linux alongside it), so I have a few questions:
I have an SSD that I intend to wipe out and install Windows on.  Do I need to do any special prep for this?  When I'm in the Windows install live cd, How will I know which HD is the one that I want to use?  (I guess if it lists the size, that might help).  Should I manually disconnect the other Hard drives to be safe?  I know that Windows likes to be on the first partition on the drive, but if Windows will have it's own drive, does it need to be plugged into the first SATA connection on the motherboard?  When I buy new hardware, I generally throw the drivers disks away (because you don't usually need them for Linux)  Is that going to be a nightmare?  Is installing Windows 7 a nightmare anyway?
That's all I can think of.  Any other tips would be welcome.

You can boot a windows on a second hard disk in grub like this:
    title Windows
    map (hd0) (hd1)
    map (hd1) (hd0)
    rootnoverify (hd0,0)
    #makeactive # Not needed for windows 7
    chainloader +1
During the installation, I assume the target HD has to be the first one, so it's probably best to disconnect the other disc. Also, windows always overwrites the MBR, but it's easy to fix that with a live cd. Of course, that isn't a problem if you are installing to your second hard disc.
Windows 7 needs (at least) two partitions: a boot partition of about 500 MB and one for windows itself (I think 25GB is recommended for a 64 bit windows). Windows can be installed anywhere on a disc, even in a logical partition, but the boot partition needs to be on a primary partition. I'm not sure if it has to be the first one. Earlier versions of windows didn't need a separate boot partition if windows was installed on a primary partition.

Hardware generally works out of the box on windows, except for the wireless for which you usually need to download a driver. Installing windows 7 is so easy that a monkey could do it. The installation does take a lot of time though.

  • I am trying to launch Aperture for the first time and it won't open.  Any tips?

I am trying to launch Aperture on a MacBook Pro for the first time.  It displays "Opening Aperture Library" with a moving wheel... but nothing happens.  Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot?
    Thanks.

on a MacBook Pro for the first time.
What do you mean? Have transferred your Aperture Library from a different machine to a MacBook Pro, or did you just upgrade from a previous version of Aperture?
If it is hanging on opening your Aperture library, your Aperture library may need repairing.
Make a backup of your Aperture library.
Double click the Aperture Library while holding down the option-command key combination ⌥⌘.
From the First Aid panel that appears, select "Rebuild database" (if you upgraded Aperture), else start with "Repair Permissions" and "Repair Database". See this section in the Aperture manual for how to run the First Aid Tools:
Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
If none of this helps, post back please and tell us more about your Aperture library, where it is located, the type of images: raw or jpeg, if it referenced, the exact version of Aperture 3 you have.
    Regards
    Léonie

Just installed firefox sync on firefox 18.0...ran the first sync, and now whenever I load firefox, or in several minutes of continuing using firefox, a tab called "Your First Sync" appears...even after closing firefox or the tab. Wondering if I can get some support on this. Thanks

  • [SOLVED]....install Arch, for the first time, am i doing it right?

The first try, it failed at grub boot(froze with blank screen), so now I'm going to install for the 2nd time and I need your help to confirm if the grub installation procedure below is correct.. (Thinkpad x61s-64bit machine)
    # mkinitcpio -p linux
    # pacman -S grub-bios bash-completion os-prober
    # grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck /dev/sda
    # cp /usr/share/locale/en\@quot/LC_MESSAGES/grub.mo /boot/grub/locale/en.mo
    # grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    # exit
    # umount -R /mnt
    # reboot
..or should i just use Syslinux instead? There won't be any other OS on the disk except there's a partition i made previously(ext 4) that i used for file storage purposes(music, video, docs etc) and the said partition now reside in sda4 and do not want to delete that as ive got so much stuff in it and my external HD is full. so i'll have to install Arch on sda1/2/3.
my partitioning scheme would be 2g swap, 20g root and 30g home.
    Thank you

You could just use syslinux, but i guess you just had a bad timing with your installation there are a few bugs present with grub at the moment, which are actually already fixed upstream, but not yet available from the official arch repositories. Did you notice any bug messages when running "grub-mkconfig" ? There were probably some "syntax-errors", but they can be easily fixed (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/38234?project=1&cat[0]=31&string=grub); the method with "GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=y" works fine and you could fix it by "chrooting" into your system again from the live-installation-cd/usb. Alternatively you could enable the testing-repos for installing grub; this version works without the syntax errors, but there is another bug with multiple kernel-entries So the first way would be probably the best way to fix grub at the moment.

  • I just used itunes for the first time in years with an old id number. It says my computer isnt authorized. The old computer i used is gone now. junked. There is no option to authorize this one. What do I do. Very frustrated

Itunes is saying that my computer isn't authorized. Its the first time ive used my id since 2010 and the computer I had then is junked. Now I have a hp laptop and I can;t authorize this computer. I can't use anything I buy. What do I do?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • I want to know how Mozilla FireFox knew all of my bookmarks, etc from my laptop when I installed it for the first time on my desktop.

What sort of tools are you using to track me? How did you know it was me? My iCloud account? My iTunes account?

If your stolen laptop continues to Sync with Mozilla's servers, you might have access to information about some of the browsing activity on that laptop, such as browsing history, new bookmarks, and new saved passwords. However, I suspect that iCloud is a more powerful tracking tool than Firefox Sync.
For your security on your new PC, you probably should create a new Firefox profile. One way to do this with minimal transitional pain is the use the Reset feature. This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings.
More information in this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].
Do not sync your ''new'' profile with your ''old'' Sync account.
To access your old profile for any purposes, such as to delete any saved passwords or see whether you get any new data, you can switch back and forth using Firefox's Profile Manager. This article describes how to start Firefox in the profile manager. I do not recommend removing anything until you are 110% certain that you will never need any of that profile's data in the future. [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]].

  • I keep getting a notice on opening Firefox for the first time saying I need to update and when I click on it the thing keeps saying it is connecting. It does not look like a real Firefox request so I've been closing it.

Every morning when I turn on my computer and start Firefox I get a notice that I need to update Firefox. When I click to do so it just keeps running saying "Connecting".
I do have a Print Screen of it and would send it if you want.

If you have problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • When I click on Firefox for the first time after I boot my PC it takes three minutes to but after that new Firefox windows open promptly.

Hello and thank you for being available to receive this enquiry.
    I like Mozilla.
    I like Firefox.
In recent months I have experienced and accumulation of problems. Today (September 25th, 2011) I have set about trying to deal with them.
After consulting your Troubleshooting Section I have made a range of changes that I hope shall resolve problems like freezing, unresponsive scripts, non responding windows and browser crashes.
At the time of writing I have rebooted after making those changes so I have yet to discover whether they solve those problems.
However, I have chosen o write now as I already am re-experiencing the first problem I encounter when I boot my PC, i.e. Firefox takes three minutes at least to start after I click the icon. Once it has started, however, ne Firefox windows open promptly.
How do I solve this? I rememebr a time when Firefox opened with lightning speed whenever I clicked the icon.
Thank you for your valued help and interest.
    Patrick O' D.

    Hello Patrick O' D,
In my experience t here are two different problems with the speed of firefox on startup
    # your os and setup
    # firefox - and exactly what you use with it
Some factors will be down to your OS and for instance what does start up initially, many of those factors will affect other programmes/applications and not only firefox.
Some other factors depend on Firefox and how you set that up, I always like to have the option to using Firebug but realise it cold clash with other software or slow down firefox startup so I only enable it as I need it. see for instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/performance/
