Hey Ehlam Managua, You have tried a different set of headphones, still no joy-- OK. (1st step in trouble shooting completed). Just to be clear the sound still works through the speaker, correct? If so, try quickly plugging / unplugging the headphone jack about 12 times, there is a tiny switch inside the port that may be stuck closed. If so the plugging / unplugging should free it up. If still no joy, have you tried turning your iPod off then turn it back on? If that doesn't work go into Setting>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, connect with your computer, make a full set of backups from this iPod to your computer, then Restore to Backup. If still won't work, Restore to New. If still nothing, could be dealing with a hardware issue. Contact your Apple store and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated.

Does this mean that there is nothing I can do about the delay? When I think of a delay, I think of maybe 10 seconds. I am having to wait for a minute or more for my audio to switch. While I wait, I have no audio and any audio program hangs. Is there a setting I can change? It seems rather ridiculous that I have to wait so long just to switch from internal speakers to headphones.
It is like this on other Mac machines? Or it is just my iMac? I hate to compare Mac to Windows, but on Windows or Linux computers the switch is instantaneous.

Looking at the details for this mic, it appears that the app has to have the option to use the internal specak when a mic is plugged into the headphone jack. Specifically:
NOTE: When MityMic is plugged into your iPod/iPhone you won’t be able to use the onboard speaker for sound output. You must remove the MityMic then play back your recordings. (The Skype app has an option to enable the onboard speaker even when the mic is plugged in, so you could use MityMic for placing Skype calls. However most other apps do not have this function.)

Itunes 10.0.1 crashes when I plug in my 1st Gen Ipod Touch

Hi All, would appreciate some advice on this issue. Last night I updated my itunes to v. 10.0.1 on my macbook pro running 10.6.4. 10 mins later I plugged in my iPod 1st Gen to sync some content over but itunes got stuck at the verifying stage and then froze. I had to force quit itunes. tried this several times but as soon as the touch was plugged in itunes would freeze.
itunes runs fine without the touch plugged in but now I can no longer use my iPod touch. Never had any problems with my system and my devices prior to this update of itunes.
Anyone had a similar experience and found a way to resolve it?

I think this problem has extended to Vista because I've had the exact same isssue with my 5th gen video ipod.
Worked fine for past 5 years and I successfully installed the 10.0.1 iTunes, added some music & even managed to listen to it. 24 hours later my ipod went into recovery mode, displayed msg ''Connect to computer. Use iTunes to restore.'' and it started crashing iTunes when I plugged it in. It won't appear as a device on iTunes but it will appear as a drive.
I've done several things which haven't worked for me but as yours is a touch and on a mac it may just work for you. You just gotta experiment.
1. BACKUP your music seperately to your iTunes folder and format your ipod. This basically erases all music, vids, photos and iTunes might stop crashing. To do this plug it in, go to your My computer then right click the ipod and select Quick format or the mac version of this. Eject/Safely remove ipod then replug it in. iTunes might ask you to restore ipod but click cancel. Try and add music. (I clicked restore by accident so I wasn't able to try and add music when my ipod reappeared in iTunes).
2. Change the drive your ipod comes up as. Sometimes your ipod may be recognised as a network drive or your local C: hard drive by the mac so it stops iTunes from picking it up. I don't know how you do this for a mac, so just google it?
3. Check your USB Ports. Sometimes they might need updating so they work with the iPod. Again I don't know how to do this for a mac but just giving ideas.
4. Get a new USB cable or borrow somebody else's. I can't do this at the moment but some but some people have reported that just by using a different one to they one they always have the problem went away.
5. Put the ipod in ''disk mode'' and plug it in. On a video you do this by pressing the middle button and play so find out what it is for a touch. Plug your ipod in and iTunes might recognise it without freezing. To get out of this just reset the ipod (not RESTORE).
6. Try downloading an earlier version of iTunes like 9.0 to see if your ipod works with them. This website has them all http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
7. I'm not sure how long you've had the ipod for but a battery replacement might be due. Some people say a weak or overused battery can corrupt the ipod and cause it not to function properly. I haven't done this because Apple charge ludicrous amounts but you could do a DIY one. Just gotta find a replacement and youtube a How To.
The hard bit is just trying to figure out if its a problem with your ipod or iTunes itself. In my case and I found its something to do with the recent iTunes release because everything was working fine until I installed it. I think the new release has bug and some file in it has corrupted my ipod!
So if the problem is with iTunes then its a matter of waiting until there is an update or Apple fix the problem. In the mean time I'm stuck with an empty ipod that works but I can't add any of my music too! :[

IPod touch won't play ANY music, only skips. All music plays when FROM ipod when plugged into iTunes. No, songs are not corrupt, I was playing an album through iTunes from my iPod and for no reason iTunes froze and now I'm having issues with my iPod.

So I was playing an album from my iPod through iTunes like normal, and the album ended. I switched to iTunes view to change to a new one and it said "iPod is done syncing" (I did not choose to sync, nor did anything appear different). I tried to click on a song to play and iTunes froze. I had to restart iTunes and when I ejected my iPod (properly) the syncing sign was still turning on my iPod. As of now my iPod only skips through every song I try to play, but when I plug it into iTunes every song FROM my iPod plays perfectly.

That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

It appears that you have a first generation (1G) iPod and you need to update the iOS to get the apps store and to allow you to use most of the app in the app store.

You may have to use a different browser to get the sublink to work correctly.
Or you could have restrictions set on your iPod that is preventing installing apps and from the App Store app from showing on the iPod. To check go to Settings>General>Restrictions.

so my ipod touch 5th generation's rear camera hasnt been working for a month or two. the front camera works, but once I click on the button to switch to the rear, it freezes. i have tried resetting my settings, backing up and restoring my ipod, force closed and moved the camera app, etc. also, when i use facetime or snapchat, the rear camera option doesnt even show up. If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

i couldnt find a support email for the ipod touch so i am posting it here,
i was bought an ipod touch 2nd gen, yesturday i changed the password and cauldnt remember it, so i reset. i only got a new laptop a few days ago and was not able to connet it to itunes (my old one broke) and i need to put the music and videos back on it, is there anyway i can re-download the music and videos i lost.

You can transfer your purchases by connecting your ipod, right clicking on it in the device list and choosing "transfer purchases". This will copy all media data bought in itunes to your computer.
A manual backup will save data to your computer. Right click and choose "backup" Make sure autosync is deactivated in itunes and at least one contact and event is set up on your computer to be able to get the merge prompt. See what's inside a backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Your ipod will be wiped during the first sync, you can restore it using the manual backup you made.

A large amount of other usually indicates corrupted files. To clear those out, you'll need to restore the device in iTunes.

Try a powered external USB hub. It uses a 120V AC wall jack to power USB devices, and the Mac only needs to provide *just enough* to comminucate. Best Buy, Target, Walmart, ... about $20.
