Firefox doesn't shut down cleanly. It never has. It often only does a "top kill" which leaves the bottom running. It won't start again until you kill the entire process. Open Task Manager, hunt around for the remnant of the application ("firefox.exe"), and kill it using a bottom kill.

Started w/FF 29 something.on Win XP (Home) SP3
Verified w/Task manager and PS that there is no other instance of FF.
Occurs only in my profile, administrator and other users do not get this message.
First Resetting, did not work.
Safe mode also did not work.
Uninstalled completely, even deleted the Firefox folder from my profile and rebooted.
Downloaded new versions, installed and same issue.
Firefox now version 33, all seems up to date but I still get that message. When I open Help > About it says I am at version 33 and to restart to upgrade...
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I click on Firefox and it says that Firefox is installing your updates and will start in a few minutes. Then I get "The update could not be installed. I'm using Firefox 4 Beta and I tryed install update but I dont got success. Now every time that I go start the browser is displayed the mensage: "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again"
My release is installed not in default drive C:\. I installed in the other Partition on my PC.
I don't have other release installed.Try a clean re-install.

Get this message everytime I try to upgrade from FF6 to 7. I have rebooted and tried again twice and still nothing. Shortly after I get the failed to install message FF6 starts up by itself. Hi all, I have got some basic text in illustrator CS3 that I have saved as a PDF. I've created outlines and broken apart the text. Now when I open the exported PDF in Illustrator at some sizes I get some really weird differences in height and widths
