Where does my application resides for deployment?
1) I have stepped thru deploying the HelloWorld and Fortune sample applications .. and they worked fine.
What I don't understand is how to deploy my JSP/JDBC application. Where do I put my application? The ias-samples put the samples in ..\ias-samples\fortune\assemble\fortune.war (and .ear file here too) and then on the browser the link is http://127.0.0.1/NASAppl/fortune/fortune.
(In Apache-Tomcat, my application would go to the \WebApps folder under Tomcat).. where would I put in
iPlanet and it would recognize it with http://127.0.0.1/NASAppl/myAppl ?
2) does the folders under 'myAppl' need to be in a certain structure, ie: the classes go to a a folder named 'classes' and JSP go to ? and any other types where?
3) deployment must have an .ear file ? so after I create .war with my class/jsp files, i have to create .ear (I have not tried with myAppl yet).
4) I believe I have to re-start iAS after I deploy myAppl ?
(I am running iAS test drive version win NT)
your reply asap appreciated.. thanks ...
You need to first create a .war or .ear file. Then you need to deploy this .ear file either using the iPlanet Deploy Tool or from the command line (for ex. iasdeploy deployapp fortune.ear)
All the classes and files related to the application will be under APPS directory.
I advise you to first read the Developer's guide and Admin guide. All your questions will be answered.

Where does Log files created for Timesten?
Hi!
my question id that where does log file are created ...my timetsen is installed on linux having locations:
Installation Directories
Times Ten Registry /etc/TimesTen
Default Installation Directory /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70
Default temporary directory /tmp
Instance name tt70
Instance Home Directory /d01/app/oracle/tt70
Daemon Home Directory /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70/info
DemoDataStore Directory /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70/info
Documentation Directory /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70/doc
LD_LIBRARY_PATH /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70/lib
Startup Script /d01/app/oracle/tt70/TimesTen/tt70/startup/tt_tt70
regards
Muh.UsmanThe TimesTen daemon message logs are located in the daemon home directory which by default is <tt_install_dir>/info but can be changed to another location at install time.
A datastore's transaction log files are located by default in the same diredctory as the checkpoint files (specified by the DSN attribute Datastore) but can be placed eslewhere using the DSN attribute LogDir.
Again, this is all covered in the documentation. With all due respect, this forum is not intended to be a substitute for reading the comprehensive and well written documentation.

Where does Firefox save UserID for Verizon Mail?
I use Verizon Mail with Firefox. The User ID
for verizon mail is one's email address. However,
if you mistakenly type something else other than
the correct User ID in the box, the computer
dutifully remembers it along with the correct
one! Where does Firefox save these User IDs
for Verizon Mail so that I can kill the incorrect
ones?Almost. You have to highlite the offending entry
and then HOLD down the Shift Key and then
hit the Delete Key. I found this answer that
works by searching on the web which led me
back to this site. The original posted question
was stated somewhat differently than mine.

Where does EXS 24 look for its samples with the normal installation?
Where does EXS24 put its samples normally on the Mac?
What will probably work is to refresh the Spotlight index.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409
Note: after step 5, it can sometimes take up to a minute before indexing starts. Be patient, wait untill the whole process is finished before starting up Logic. You can check the progress by clicking the Spotlight icon (magnifying glass) top right of your screen -
I need to transfer my iWeb site to my new Macbook Pro but cannot find any "Library" folder in my User area, hence no application support for iWeb and no domain.site to transfer. How can I transfer my site? Any help is appreciated.
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Where does the preference list for Safari reside
The Safari I use on my MBP 10 on this computer works like a charm (knock on wood) but on my MBP 07 it can not even remember how to open a local file when it loads and regardless of how many different thing I have tried it refuses to remember the preference I have set, so I'm suspecting that the preference are not being saved in the preference list, so I'm wondering where it is and is ut safe to edit or delete?
First close Safari
Home/Library/Preferences
Look for
com.apple.Safari.plist
com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
Also:
Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
history.plist
lastsession.plist
And
Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
They will all be recreated next time you launch Safari. -
In Trex where does the documents reside ?
We have Enterprise portal and use TREX for collaboration rooms and document indexing. EP is a java only Netweaver stack on AIX and TREX is on a window box. What I wanted to know is where do the actual documents, which TREX indexes reside?
Does Trex retain a copy of the indexed document? For a particular index where is the mapping of the actual document? Where can I look at all this data?
Pls advise.
thank you
regards
LaxmiHello Kai,
documents original location is transparent on KM, whether it is on a external repository or not doesn't matter,
for KM and TREX it is part of repository manager (configured at System Administration > System Configuration >
Knowledge Management > Content Managenement > Repository Managers).
Once a repository manager is activeted, there are several services running on top of it, eg.: subscription, rating,
etc. and other global services which affects every repository. Crawler service and Index Management are the
global services which will do indexing work
In fact TREX doesn't look for documents, the crawler is the component that retrieves the documents and
deliver for TREX. Have in mind that the crawler is part of KM, not TREX. It is active for every repository,
you can check on the monitor at System Administration > Monitoring
for more information: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/fb/38ef207d0a47ee9dc08deeed855392/frameset.htm
once documents are retrieved by the crawler and is at TREX hands, it will index normally, it uses
a file system based architecture, if you browse through TREX server you can find the indexes you have
created as folders and documents information inside. Be careful when checking at file system level, data
there is designed for TREX work only, it doesn't serve as backup and can't be considered for any
other functioning.
kind regards,

Where does a class reside?
I confess, I'm new. I'm trying to learn Java progrmming and in the book "Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days" it says that an instance can reference and update class variables. Where are these class variables? Okay, they reside on a hard drive somewhere but does an instance have update authorization to the hard drive? or is the class held in memory somewhere and when and instance updates the class it is only in memory? It would not make sence if you are creating a dozen instances of the same class to keep going out to the hard drive for the creation of every instance.
I'd appreciate any light you can shed on the subject.
Thanks,
Byron in SeattleYou hit the nail on the head; it would be way too costly to run java having to read class file definitions from the hard drive every time you use one.
Here's how it works:
When you start java, all of the classes in the java software version you are using (1.3, 1.4, etc) are automatically loaded into memory along with the Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
Next, everything in your classpath (well, not everything, but all .class files) will be loaded into memory.
After that, classes can be 'bootstrapped' by using Class.forName(...) -
Where does system preferences reside?
Hi there,
I am trying to locate the actual coding of system preferences. Does anybody know where it is? I have looked under system and library but not able to find it.
thanks for your help
mI assume you mean the location of the preference pane files. I'm not sure what you mean by "coding." If you're looking for system preferences and where they're stored, the answer depends on what preference you're looking for. Most can be found in your user library: /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences
The panes themselves are located in:
Macintosh HD/System/Library/PreferencePanes
You may also have user-specific preference panes installed. Those reside in: /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/PreferencePanes -
Where does an application store information?
I downloaded express invoice on my macbook pro thinking it was for free when it was a trial version, I used it for that period and now it will not open unless I pay for the program - which I have no intention of doing. How do I get to the information that I put in there?
It varies depending on the application, but generally will be somewhere in ~/Library or ~/Documents, both accessible from the Go to Folder command in the Finder's Go menu. Use a tool such as TextWrangler to open individual documents in that folder; if that doesn't work, contact the application's manufacturer for assistance.

Where does thunderbird 24.5 for ubuntu 14.04 store pop3 email
I need to find the folder for the e-mail I had in Thunderbird 24.5 in Kubuntu 14.04 64 Bit. I have over 62K (yes 62,000+) e-mails and i can't afford to just lose them. I was using T-Bird in the background when a website (youtube) I was using in Firefox 29 had a Flash issue and basically caused my computer to become non-responsive. I had to switch off and restart. When I logged back in all of my settings and e-mails in T-Bird where nowhere to be found. The Mozilla website doesn't seem to address this problem (or maybe I just worded it wrong) but still I can't find my e-mails. I thought I had them backed up with the import/export tools add-in in a zip file but [a] I can't find any way to open the thing {it's over 1.8GB in size} [b] how do I restore them if I can open the zip file?
Basicaslly I need just one answer. What is the name of the folder where the e-mails are stored and where in Kubuntu 14.04 is it/should it be located? I know it will username based in name My name in the computer is james R McKenzie if that helps. All the info I can find on-line is old and hopelessly out of date usuallt covering older (circa 2007) Linux Distro's and Much older (circa 2008 -2010) T-Bird releases just that don't apply anymore. Please, any/all help will be appreciated. I am totally stumped.
Thanks In Advance.Profile folders are hidden files and folders.
Linux and Unix Profile folders are located here:
* ~/.thunderbird/<Profile name>/
However, if you're using a third party build from Debian or Ubuntu, those builds store your profile folder here:
* ~/.mozilla-thunderbird<Profile name>.
then click on 'Mail folder to see Pop mail accounts and Local Folders.
To show hidden files in Nautilus (Gnome desktop's default file browser), choose "View -> Show Hidden Files".
Viewing hidden folders in Dolphin:
* https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?57551-Viewing-hidden-folders-in-Dolphin
It is possible that Thunderbird does not know where to look for the correct Profile or correct mail account name.
* Edit > Account Settings > Server Settings
or
* right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings',then select the mail account Server Settings
* at the bottom look for 'Local directory'
* click on 'Browse' to locate the correct directory
* click on OK to save changes.
