Which Adapter to use - HTTP or SOAP Adapter?
Hi Experts,
The third party system will be sending a standard HTTP request with a standard SOAP envelope containing standard XML.
So in this case what adapter I should use HTTP or SOAP?
What is the difference between these two adapters and in which scenarios this should be used?
Thanks.
Hi,
The plain HTTP adapter gives application systems the option of communicating with the Integration Engine and exchanging business data using a plain HTTP connection. Depending on the receiver system, outbound messages can be enhanced with certain information.
The SOAP adapter enables you to exchange SOAP messages between remote clients or Web service
servers and the Integration Server or the PCK.
In the SOAP adapter, you can specify security settings to be used to sign/verify the SOAP body.
In addition, you can specify the standard to be used for signing/verifying the SOAP message
whenever Xi need to communicate with any sort of webservice i.e remote applications it uses SOAP adapter..
And XI uses HTTP adapter when you want to post a HTTP request message from a web application to XI.
HTTP Adapter :
1) HTTP Adapter is used by extenal systems to connect to Intergartin server using native HTTP Interface
2) http adapter is a service which is directly connected to integration engine
SOAP Adapter :
1)Allows Local Processing in AAE
2)Exaclty One Operation per Interface
3)Modules for Receiver Adapter

Pinangshuk.

SRM-MDM-Catalog and XI using HTTP
I need to do a integration between SRM 5 and SRM-MDM-Catalog using XI.
I imported the SRM-MDM-Catalog packages into the XI and I saw that all connections with MDM are using FTP in the comunnication channel template.
Is it possible to do connections for MDM using http or soap?As far as I know using Files is how XI interacts with MDM. All scenarios I have seen on SDN have been with File adapter being used on MDM 's side.
Maybe there is a way , am watching this thread as well.

Getting FileNotFound Exception while using https url connection
Hi
I am facing a serious problem in running the code. I am using JSSE in my code and through this application I am hitting a URL which is also using HTTPS and that code is also using JSSE in servlets.
Now when I use the code I get a FileNotFoundException which says that the particular servlet is not located. I have given debug mode on and I could see that initial handshake is over and after that its throwing FileNotFoundException.
This problem is very serious because this system is live and now for this particular case where both the server and client are using JSSE , is failing.
Kindly suggest me some solution
Best Regards

Which adapter should use SOAP or http?
Hi SDners,
I have a one scenario in which I have to integrate our ECC system to our company intranet site. for this scenario what approch I have to take?
Please suggest
RegardsHi Abhay,
I think you can use HTTP adapter in your case , there will be two modes url and http destination in channel configuration ,
you can choose to create HTTP Destination mode and create a RFC Destination in sm59
(HTTP Type=G).Here you mention your internal site connection details like parameter for
connections , user and password etc .By doing so, you can test the connection from XI to the url.
You can test the rfc connection in the test connection tab in RFC destination. If connection test
is ok then you can use this http destination in you http channel.
But if you question is to compare HTTP or SOAP , then as suggested above a simple search will
give best answers to your questions.

We need to using SSL over HTTP for our web service defined in PI, basically using HTTPS in our SOAP adatper. I did a lot of research on this, seems like it's not an easy job to enable SSL. However I am only interested in making it work from an application developer point of view, enabling SSL, generating/installing certificate is a job for basis people.
So I created an sender CC with SOAP adapter with HTTPS with client authentication. (BTW, what is HTTPS without client authentication, does it mean HTTPs with server authentication where the server certificate is to be installed at the client side?), to my understanding, the client certificate should be installed in NWA (We have PI 7.1, not 7.0 -) and somewhere in ID (like sender agreement) we need to specify which client certificate should be used to authenticate the client who calls our service. However nowhere in ID I can specify which client certificate should be used for the defined sender CC. So how would it work in runtime? When my web service is called, which client certificate does PI use to authenticate the client?
It'd very much appreciated if you could give more information about how HTTPS for SOAP adapter works? I've done lot of research on this, but still confused.
ThanksHi,
for transport level security you should assign the HTTPS connection created in SM59 to the SOAP communication channel.
The HTTPS connection should use the certificates imported in t-code STRUST.
1. You have to dounload the SAP cryoptographic librariers.
2. Set the specific paramerts in RZ10
3. Maintain the enviornmental variables & you need to keep the logon tickets too in some specific directory.
4. Import the client & server certificates into STRUST.
You can find some documents on ABAP ssl configuration from the SDN library .... I don't have a link now

Use Moduls with SOAP Sender Adapter
Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding the use of modules in the soap sender adapter / communication channel. Is it correct that the use of modules in the soap sender adapter is not possible?
the background of my question is that we use modules from SEEBURGER in our Communication channels for archiving incoming and outgoing documents. the use of modules in the soap receiver adapter is possible. why not in the soap sender???
according to the sap help it is possible to use the axis framwork in the soap adapter. then it should be possible to use modules. Is that correct? I tested it but it is not working. If I send a soap message (with the soap reveicer adapter) to the axis soap sender adapter there occure internal server errors. it is only working if I write my own modules for the axis soap sender adapter? is it not possible to use external modules like in other channels (File/FTP, soap receiver etc.)???
thanks and best regards!
Christopherwe have moduls from SEEBURGER. so I have to test it. but before I need a scenario with which I can test it.
We have a customer who sends xml-files per soap to us. these files we receive succussfully with the soap sender adapter. now we want to use some modules. so we have to use the axis soap sender adapter. I tried to send an xml file with the soap receiver adapter to the axis soap sender adapter, but this was not working. http 500 internal server errors occurred. is it possible that this scenario (soap-to-axis-soap) is not working? need I a specific configuration for this?
thanks and regards

CXML : http or soap adapter?
Which adapter do I use to send cXML purchase order to a vendor who has provided an invoke https URL? Also any special setup required in comm. channel? i.e. how does the channel know whether to formulate http or https ? Thanks.
William,
In the http receiver adapter communication channel, there is only HTTP protocol to select no HTTPS. Does this mean that it will convert to HTTPS if SSL is enabled on J2EE Engine? The soap adapter on the other hand accepts the full URL so we can specify https:// however i think the target URL given to me appears to be a http service rather than a SOAP service (I have not been given any WSDL with soapaction; I have to create the message using external defination of cXML.dtd from cxml.org website and send the message through http to a URL like https://xxx.yyy.com/invoke/aaa/bbb) -

Using HTTP adapter with no namespaces
Hi,
Is there anyway to use HTTP adapter when the provider does not accept the namespaces. The HTTP binding wizard requires a targetnamespace to be defined in the request and response xsds that we have to use.
Thanks & Regards
SivaBernd we are trying to do the same thing only with the soap adapter. I'm convinced that no one really knows how to do it. We can't even find an SAP CONSULTANT that has done it .. at any cost!
If you hear anything good .. please let me know - my email is [email protected]
I think the nightmare is coming in because when SAP bought the j2ee ( application server ) they never really have integrated it so it's very confusing if the settings need to be done on the ABAP side or the J2EE side via visual administrator. In addition most Basis guys are only experienced in the ABAP side and not the J2EE. -
HTTP UPLOAD using HTTP receiver adapter
Hello Experts,
I am facing a problem where i have to upload a file to webserver using POST , I am using a file adapter to pick the file and http or soap adapter to post the file to webserver. Here the request structure expected by the webserver is a file.
below is the form based web request:
<form enctype="multipart/form-data" name="Upload_File" method="POST" action="https://-------/servlet/zxcdsf">
Choose File: <input type=file name="Upload_File" value="fileUpload" ><br><br>
<input type=submit value="upload">
</form>
Please guide me how to achieve this using SOAP or HTTP.Hi Hemant
Yes you can try with proglog and epilog
Develop the Java mapping to convert the paylaod to HTML tags and replace the tags with corresponding (&, +, =, and %) . This may be able to post the data.
Try to create generic mapping to convert the payload to HTML this will help if you have more than one interface for the same requirement.
Java proxy code is having an advantage that you can always have that as a receiver for any of these request instead of dealing with individual Java mappings.
Try with epilog and prolog and as you said next step can be Java proxy.
Thanks

Hi,
I want to use HTTPS port for one of our SOAP -->RFC sync interface .
currently we are using http://host:port/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=party:service:channel this url and its working fine,
Here we want to use HTTPS ( HTTPS with client authentication as security level) ,but in our current PI system ( 7.31) is not enabled https/ports.
Please let me know how we can enable HTTPS port ,let me know the process.
once HTTPS port is enabled please let me know the process to use HTTPS with client authentication as security level)
Thanks
SuryaHi Surya,
Base on your requirement ports like 433, 4022 etc as per availability to Trading partners.
Port mapping should be done in the firewall configuration as your web dispatcher port(This information can be obtained from your basis team / will be managed at the installation time / netweaver administration.)
80* series is for ABAP ports and 50* series i sfor JAVA port.
Also check the below link for more information.

XI message with Attachment using Http Adapter
Hi ,
We are using XI/PI 7.0 with Sp09 and Sender Application is SRM and Receiver is Ariba MarketPlace.
We are trying to Send PO with Attachments like Word, PDF etc from SRM to Ariba using Https adapter and from SRM we are using ABAP Proxy. When I did the testing with out any special config, I was able to send the attachments (I can see word doc as part of the payload-attachment) to XI from SRM but this attachment is not going through https adapter from XI to Ariba?
I have read some posts on this but I could not find the answer for my situation. One of the solution is that we can use SOAP adapter but we don't want to use Soap for some reasons.
Please give your thoughts.
Thanks in Advance.
-Laxman> Thanks for your replies, I am little confused, based
> on your references http can't support attachments.
That is true.
> Also sap help link says Http adapter doesn't support
> attachments and XI adapter also doesn't support.
That is not true. XI adapter (in fact we do not talk of an adapter) supports attachments.
> It means Proxy also shouldn't support because proxy is
> nothing but XI adapter.
This is true, ABAP or Java Proxy are like XI adapter. Therefore it supports attachments.
> But When I send PO with attachments from SRM using
> Proxy connection I was able to pass through XI. So

The online help is wrong.

I do not see another solution besides using SOAP adapter in so-called non-SOAP mode. Yes you have to reimport the certificates to J2EE stack.

Traveling to Czechoslovakia and Hungary and puirchased the Apple Worldwide Adapter Kit. I'm confused about which adapter plug to use with my MacAir. What does the correct plug look like?
ThanksHere is the link to the adapter kit on the Apple website:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B/apple-world-travel-adapter-kit
This may or may not suit your needs but I suggest that you visit an Apple store and take a look at the kit yourself. With the information from prior link, you should know exactly what to look for.
