White Screen in Recording

I recorded a demonstration and then saved and published the
project to an .swf. When I import the .swf into PowerPoint white
screens periodically appear throughout the demonstration. I created
another demonstration with another topic and the same thing
happened. Please help!

Hi nwilliams79
Suggest you approach this from another angle, and I am
assuming that you HAVE to use Powerpoint. Export your project as an
exe file instead (make sure project is set to "close at end" in
preferences), save it to the same location as the Powerpoint file
and open the Captivate file out of Powerpoint using a hyperlink.
Works for me.
Cheers

  • Mini DVR Records in .AVI and .MOV Format-white screen

I am a private investigator, and have used a mac for years. I purchased my new MacBook 2 weeks ago for the purpose of uploading the video to my mac, and burning the video to DVD for my clients.
I just purchased a JS208 Mini DVR and Mini Spy Button Cam. I.E. its a generic chinese product, but I was told that since it records in .AVI and .MOV format, I could either plug in the SV card (with the video from the mini DVR) or plug the USB cord into the computer and upload the video.
When I plug in the DVR, iPhoto recognizes that a .MOV is available. It downloads.
However, once downloaded, and opened on Quicktime, no sound and white screen.
When I click on Command I, This is what i see:
    Source: /Users/sammythepug/Desktop/MPEG0002.MOV
    Format: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Stereo, 12.000 kHz
    FPS: 30
    Playing FPS: (Available while playing)
    Data size: 2.28MB
    Data Rate: 2336.00 kbits/s
    Current Time: 0:00:00:00.00
    Duration: 0:00:00:08.20
    Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels
    Current Size: 640 x 480 pixels (Actual)
I spent an hour on the phone with Mac Support, and they told me to download MPEG StreamClip. I really don't know what I am doing at this point, because everyone told me it would be easy...HELP!!

    Here are the DVR Specs:
    Digital Screen: 1.5" TFT LCD
    Recording Formats: AVI, ASF, MOV
    Recording Resolution: 640x480, 480x240, 160x120 pixels
    Frame Rate: 30 FPS
    Built in Flash: 45MB
SUB Jack: High Speed USB 2.0
    Mini Cam Specs:
    Picup device: 1/3" color CMOS
    System: PAL/NTSC/ EIA
    Horizontal Definition: 420 TV Lines
    Minimum Illumination: 3 Lux
    Dimensions: 27x27x8mm
    Power Supply DC 5V
I am also open to recommendations for other cameras that may work. The DVR has to be smaller than a pack of cigarettes, and has to be compatible with the mini button camera.
    thanks

  • Ipod Touch - White Screen Lock Out - Apple response poor/process inflexible

    Hi
I have 2 Touchs and one has the random white screen issue. Screens goes grey`white and there's nothing you can do, till what seems like it needs to be recharged. i haven't had this happen when at home and near the 'master dock' .
I see thats its a prob that is more and more common, and have also seen on other forums that Apple are acknowledging it and in some cases have been providing freebies as sweeteners as well (allegedly).
So first - does anyone have any 'fixes' - other than what I have seen which is a replacement?
And secondly this is my 'Apple Service experience so far'
I called Apple UK support on Thursday morning, and pressed the options for Ipod and then Touch.
A woman answered and as soon as I told her my issue she advised she was IPHONE SUPPORT ONLY as that was section I had come through to and could not help me. I asked to be put through to relevant help section.
On hold for a few mins then line went dead.
Called back - making sure i pressed Ipod Touch options - in case it was user error first time - (it wasn't BTW) anyway got put through to IPHONE support again. This time the woman agreed to help, although i shall temper that by saying that my perception was that she started that day and had a script of 'if x do y' questions.
I explained the issue and that I had carried out web research. She was very polite but asked me questions I had already answered in my pre amble - i.e. screen is locked out, no response from buttons etc - but I was still asked what happens when you press the power button. Anyway I stuck with it - she then asked what firmware I had, and i advised I just upgraded to 1.2.
Ah thats the problem - you need to upgrade to LEOPARD (I have Tiger). That annoyed me as clearly thats rubbish and was really her ' ad libbing' I explained I had 2 touchs and other was fine.
She consulted a colleague and suggested I either send it in or make an appt at my local Apple store. Thats when it really went down hill...
More disappointed at the process, I called my local store (Regent Street - London) and was advised that the Touch would be replaced under warranty - but that I needed to make an appt to have that done, and no they couldn't make an appt on line (you are warned that up front in the recorded message before you get to speak to anyone). This I find odd - two people from Apple advise I can get a replacement under warranty, yet I have to make an appt - thats not good service.
As i am nearby, I decide to go to the Apple store anyway. I get same story and ask to speak to the manager. He is very well trained. He says all the diplomatic things, he agrees unit will be replaced under warranty, but says I have to see a technician - but I cant until tomorrow at earliest.
What then follows is a discussion about the process - his argument is that it allows the customer to attend at a time that suits them (but it suited me NOW - I was nearby). In reality the converse is true you can only chose a slot that suits apple.
The manager, stated that there are two diff stocks of goods. Items for sales and items for replacement. I suggested that he went to the replacement pile and provided one from that. NBo go - the technical dept could only do that.
I agree that booking for TECH SUPPORT is a great idea, but for a product replacement under warranty - especially when 3 people (and user forums) had advised this would be the case - this is not good service at all. The manager looked at me and uttered platitudes along the lines of ' thats your opinion', ' you are entitled to think that' - all of them verging on patronising. he even went as far to say that customers like being able to book a slot - erm - they have no choice!
He advised he 'would take my views on board' and would 'pass them on to the manager' - he was in fact the deputy manager. I left my details and explicitly asked for her comments - needless to say I am still waiting.
So i feel like I have fallen out with a close friend. I have been an Apple convert for 2 years now and this is our first major falling out. I am annoyed, as a customer, at being treated like this and forced into such a rigid system, and bitterly disappointed that a company that has such a a wonderful end user experience in terms of the products themselves and the sales side should treat loyal customers (in fact any customers) this way when trying to dal with faulty goods!
So, anyone have any thoughts - agree/disagree - who can I voice this to in Apple - the store doesn't seem to care past lip service!
I will also try to repost this on the general area if there is one
    Rgds
    Michael

    Hi,
I used to work at an Apple Store so I have 2 summers of customer service experience under my belt. Let me just say that, yes, I empathize. Some of the store policies are ridiculous, which is partly why I left the company. Well, ok no, I just like to say that that's why I left. I'm actually a student.
Anyways, whoever told you that you can't make an appointment at the Genius Bar was WRONG. Shame on them. Go to this website (it's just apple.com/uk/retail (and Regent Street's site specifically) and on the right hand side there's a column for you to click Genius Bar Reserve.
    http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/regentstreet/week/20071118.html
Here's the entire gist of the store policy. The store is obligated to give you a new iPod Touch if there's a manufacturer defect within 2 weeks of your original purchase. You'll still need a Genius Bar appointment, but all they do is take a look at it, confirm that it's a defect, and they'll return it for you (& they'll label it as DOA - Dead on arrival), and give you a new one. Easy.
I'm guessing you are outside of the 14 day period which is causing you all the trouble. So now we're talking about the year warranty. So you got your replacement iPod touch. Should there still be a defect in your replacement, you still have 14 days from the day you received THAT iPod touch to get a new one. There's a chance that if you talk to the manager (a different one and there are several), he'll hook you up with a brand new iPod touch, without having to go through replacement protocol.
The manager you talked with sounds like a jerk to me, and believe me, I hate it when Apple employees try to think theyre "all that." We student employees used to laugh at how seriously some employees took it. But really, those guys are there to help you and give you solutions, at least that's the company line. With that in mind, demand them to do what's right. I wish I could actually help you. I used to take care of people in situations like these all the time.
    Good luck.

  • Source File shows White Screen in Source + Program Monitor

    Hello,
I'm having an issue with only one of three media files in my Premiere Pro CS6 project.
When I try to preview this one video file in the Source Monitor, it shows only a white screen, and I can only move the playhead to the beginning and end of the file. I then plopped the clip into the sequence to see if rendering it would give me better luck in the Program Monitor, yet to no avail. The file supposedly successfully rendered, yet when I open the subsequently created "Preview" file in VLC, the entire clip is completely white for its entire duration. (I think it's interesting to note that VLC plays the source file correctly, and that this footage has been successfully used in a separate project in Final Cut after converted to ProRes with Compressor.)
I've opened the file with GSpot to make sure I had the Codec installed, yet GSpot doesn't list any Codec information for this file. It only lists Container information.
(Screen shot of GSpot with white-screen issue in the background)
My Video Card drivers are up to date, taken directly from the chipset's manufacturer's website.
Codec: (See post below for Media Info dump)
Premiere Pro version 6.0.3 (001 (MC: 264587)), installed in English.
Sequence Settings: DVCPROHD 1080i50 default settings (framerate changed to 50FPS)
    Windows 7 x64 Service Pack 1, English, 1440x900 32bit Color
    Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU  T4200 @ 2.00 GHz
    2GB RAM
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Driver version 8.15.10.2869
53.2GB of free space on the SSD all of the media files, the operating system, the Adobe Premiere installation, and scratch disk is located.
I'm unsure of the camera used to record this footage.
Thanks for reading my post, and let me know if you need any more information.

  • White Screen of Death in KDE4

Greetings all, I'm trying to setup KDE4, but I'm running into that fun white screen. I can get into kdm all right, but when I try to log into kde it just goes straight to the white screen and mouse pointer. I can't get anywhere else. I installed KDE4 from Tardo's repositories http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=33536.
Searching the forums, I've seen a couple of older posts that KDE4 doesn't like glx or compositing, so I tried disabling one then the other, but to no avail. I also have E17 and Gnome, and both of those work fine. My hardware is a Nvidia 8600GT card, and I'm using 64bit Arch.
Any ideas? Here is my xorg.conf:

Very misleading. The so-called screen of death refers to a state of process death, where the components of the computer do not respond. These are not screens of "death", processes are running fine, only the configuration is borked or there is a bug.
Go into your fallback environment of choice and install KDE stable.
I'm sorry if that's misleading - I have heard it called that before, so I used the term. Semantics aside, I'd rather fix the problem than go to KDE stable.

  • White screen upon booting

Hi I need some help my macbook pro 15" (os lion dont know what version) went to sleep and ran out of battery, when i charged it and tried to start up it wouldn't so i did a force shutdown (press power for 10 secs), now when i reload it loads the bar on the bottom for about 1cm then the bar disappears and the white screen with the apple logo stays with the loading sign spinning again and again.. doesn't do anything after an hour or so i've given up.
I have read through numerous previous posts, from what i have gathered,
I have run the "command s" and $fsck -y and tried to fix the disc but it shows:
    ** /dev/rdisk0s2
    ** Root file system
    Executing fsck_hfs (version diskdev_cmds-540,1~25)
** Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume
The volume name is Macintosh HD
    ** Checking extents overflow file.
    Invalid leaf record count
(It should be 577 instead of 579)
    ** Checking catalog file
Incorrect block count for file bounds
(it should be 1 instead of 0)
    Keys out of order
    (4, 12661)
    ** Rebuilding catalog B-tree
** The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired.
**** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ****
So what do I do now I know B-tree is a corrupt file. I dont have time machine and haven't backed up my files in 6 months. its actually due for backup this weekend!
I went into Disk Utility to run repair disk but it says "Disk utility cannot repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk and restore your backed-up files.
My question is, how do I recover my files. Once I get my files I can reformat
Any suggestions please. Thank you so much! PS. I'm a comp illerate so please simple slow steps in explaining

After 4 nights and numerous research hours later I have finally fixed my corrupted Mac HDD. (Macbook Pro early 2011, OSX Lion 10.7.2)
I don't want all this effort going to waste so I'm going to give some step by step instructions on how I managed to fix my MacBook Pro. Idiot's guide because I am not that great with computers..
    Presenting Issue:
When powering up Mac, unable to load the OSX. It goes into a white screen with the apple logo with the loading sign spinning below. A grey bar below that shows up and starts to load but disappears not long after. The loading sign continues to spin but nothing happens.
    Diagnosis:
    - Shutdown computer. Press power button, then press "command S" straight away and hold, you will hear the chime and wait till the terminal screen loads (this is a bunch of white text). Then release buttons and wait till it stops. Type "FSCK -Y" (without the ""). Wait for it to run. If the disc is broken it will try to repair itself. If that works then you are good. You can type "shutdown -r now" and restart computer it should load normally.
    - If you have my problem it should say something along the last few lines of:
    ** Rebuilding catalog B-tree
** The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired.
**** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ****
This means the computer was unable to repair the HDD for you.
If you have backed up your computer then you can skip this next part. If you haven't (like me) then you will need to retrieve your files from your corrupted HDD.
Note: If you have a B-tree error you will not be able to use firewire (below) to access and erase your disk, nor will you be able to unmount your disk. When you try it will tell you it cannot be done. Also you will not be able to reinstall OSX onto the corrupted HDD - if you go into "command R" restore (below below), the disk will be greyed out and say it is in use and cannot be booted.
Resolution (Retrieve Data from a unbootable Mac):
    - You will need to buy a IEEE 1394 800/800 9pin to 9pin firewire cable. If you live in Australia, I found one from Dick Smith for $10, where other electronic stores sell between $20-$60.
    - You will also need your friend's MBP (or any other Mac that has a 9pin firewire port).
    - Plug both MBP on their power supply. Turn the normal MBP on. Plug the firewire cable into both computers. Then press the power button once on the unbootable MBP and press T straight away and hold until the normal computer detects the broken MBP as a external HDD (it shows up as a yellow rectangle shape icon). The broken computer will also display a screensaver with an icon moving around.
    - The normal MBP will detect your Mac HDD but it will display an error message informing you the disk is corrupted and unmodifiable. Press ok to ignore.
    - You can now access your unbootable MBP as an external HDD. It is the icon on the desktop "Macintosh HD". Copy the files you require. Then press the power button once on the broken MBP to turn off firewire transfer. Unplug firewire cable. Done !
    Resolution (Installing OSX Lion)
    - You will need a previously partitioned disk on your broken MBP which is not corrupted which you can erase and use to format OSX Lion or a 3.5" external HDD. If you are lucky enough like me who likes to keep a random spare partition you are in luck. If not plug the ext HDD into the USB port with the MBP off.
    - Turn on the MBP and press and hold "command R" until you hear the chime and until the grey recovery screen loads (I think this works if you have osx lion or mountain lion. If you have snow leopard you will need to insert installation disk instead).
    - Select language and select reinstall a new copy of OSX Lion. This will take you to the installation screen. You will need internet access so either use airport or plug a direct ethernet cable (quicker d/l speed, faster installation).
    - Select installation site as the spare partitioned disk or the external HDD. It will then download OSX Lion onto that disk (took me 2.5 hours), and install OSX Lion (took me 30 mins).
    - Bazinga! OSX Lion installed.
    Resolution (Erasing Unmountable Macintosh HD)
    - Once your OSX Lion is installed and your computer is up and running again, you can now go into disk utility and select your Macintosh HD. Press "Unmount", it will go grey, and then select OS X Extended (Journaled) format, press "Erase" to do a 1-pass erasure of the HD. This should take a few minutes max and then check if your Macintosh HD is empty. TADA!!! New HDD.
    - If you are crazy like me you can spend a good 7 hours and perform a complete 7-pass erasure. To do so go to advanced settings and change the erasure type.
Resolution (Copying OSX Lion to Macintosh HD)
    - Now you can reverse the action by restoring the OSX Lion into your original Macintosh HD disk, and then erasing your partitioned disc.
    - I'm sure you can just copy the disc and then erase but I'm not risking any more issues so I'm doing it the hard long way.
Fixed. If I took it into Geniuses they will tell me my HDD is dead and needs replacing. No way when I trust my gut instinct that it's a corrupt HDD.
Good luck guys. I'm now off to get my much deserved and deprived SLEEP! Hope this helps!!

  • 6280 goes white screen when I sync with Vista

    Hi all,
My 6280 goes white screen and reboot when I sync after a 350 items uploaded to my laptop under Vista Premium Family Edition. I've got this problem either connected through the cable or bluetooth.
I use the latest version of PC Suite, but I do not have upgraded my 6280.
If someone can help me, thanks by advance.
(and of course, it worked perfectly with my old desktop computer under XP ...).
    Richard.

I mean to sync with the syncronisation feature (inside the PC Suite menu) to an Outlook 2002, under Windows Vista.
Anyway, I solved my problem : I had a corrupted record in my phone's contacts (the phone was always rebooting on the same record number, when I tried to export data). I have deleted all the phone's contact records and then reloaded them from Outlook, and now everything works just fine.
    Backup, backup, always backup ...
The question is : how could I have corrupt a record in my phone's contact ?
Thank you for answering me ;-)
    Richard.

  • Quicktime Pro exports white screen when trying to export to iPod or DV

I'm recording video on a "Flip" video camcorder which plays back great in Quicktime but when I try to convert the files to either DV so I can edit them in iMovie, or convert them so I can watch them on my iPod, I end up with sound but no picture, just a white screen. I've tried some other QT video from other sources and have the same results so I'm guessing that it is not the camera. I thought it might be my settings to I tried other "Export To" settings but I always end up with a white screen. Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

  • Publishing: white screen instead of slides

    hi.
i'm using captivate for recording and publishing
presentations (lasting one hour each, incl. audio and slides). this
time i was using the "application"-version as i was only having
    .pdf for the presentation.
previewing the project, the recorded staff works, all slides
are shown. but when publishing them to an .exe- or a flash-file,
around half-time there are no more slides but a white screen
instead, the audio continues. i tried it several times, always with
    the same result.
for a better understanding, here an explication on the
    structure of my project:
    - only 1 "slide" (1 hour)
    - 1 audio bar (1 hour)
    - 1 loong bar called "entry" (i hope that's the right
translation, i'm using the german version) storing the slide
    changes
any ideas how to get an .exe- and/or a flash-file showing the
slides till the end instead of switching to those nasty white
    (empty) slides?
thanks a lot for your help!
    greets :)

    Hi,
I am having a similar problem to this in a project created in
    Captivate 3.
My project is an interactive training app, it has about 70
slides in all, a combination of static slides with click boxes and
some animation slides (all captured through Captivate).
When I first created and published it as an exe there was no
problem but after a full reinstall of Windows I now have the white
screen problem when viewing the published exe.
It only occurs on slides with animation on them and only
occurs on my computer, if I test them on another they work fine.
The slide plays fine when using "preview | play this slide" but not
if I use the other preview options or publish to exe. In those case
I get the white screen and nothing else on the slides with
    animation in them.
Is there any posibility this could be related to the version
of Flash Player I am running?
Any advice or hints would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

  • White screen of death and computer halts with ATI 4870 in Boot Camp

    Hi!
I have just received the ATI Radeon 4870 for my Mac Pro (Early 2008)and have upgraded my Leopard to 10.5.7 and works fine on the Mac side. When I reboot and hold the command key I can see my MAC and my BOOT CAMP 2 options as always before. When I click on boot camp I get a white screen with a black frome around it and there is NO hard disk activity and nothing happens no matter how long I leave the computer alone. Before I had no problem booting into my boot camp loaded with vista 64 bit. I have another partition with parallels and that is fine but not this boot camp partition.
I am using ONLY this card in the system. I removed the NVIDIA card.
ALso I tried putting in my Vista 64bit DvD into the drive and rem=booting and see the option when hold the option key to go into MAC,WINDOWS,DVD.... When I select DvD and computer adjust to work in a windows enviroment again the system halts. SO I believe it has nothing whatsoever to to do with drivers inside Vista. It would have to be something that needs upgrading for bootcamp to allow for this video card to work on Bootcamp?
Again I have the latest updates of the OS.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for all your time!

CorkyO recommended what I would do: install old card, uninstall any graphics drivers and delete them, and use Driver Sweeper as well. So that there is nothing there.
If you have a raw unformatted drive, pull everything else and leave that in.... as if it was a PC and starting for the first time.
    Don't use Boot Camp Assistant.
Don't put Windows on the same drive as OS X.
Do try Windows 7.7100 RC 64-bit.
Apple has not posted a link to graphics drivers since early 2008.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1442 - "Not found" and WAY out of date (167.xx) which would be foolish and obviously would not support Vista or 4870.
I would pull the Vista drive for another reason, too, so you can start fresh and import or access the files on it later.
Vista is sensitive to the presence and drive position of where the drive and OS was, the master boot record and such which I confess to not fully understanding.
Which is another reason to install Windows with no other hard drives present.
You keep saying you used COMMAND rather than OPTION key to restart into Windows, so figure typo/slip.
I would RESET SMC and ZAP PRAM/NVRAM. Force the device tree to get rebuilt. And that is important to OS X - suppose to do so but the G5s it never worked properly on its own.
There is a reason why people that play with graphics cards and drivers use Driver Sweeper, it works, and it is essential at times.
Early boot is under the control of EFI. I don't know what if anything Apple does (I don't trust the firmware updates that were suppose to provide better Windows compatibility only to learn it was mostly for XP and not Vista, and that it added a full 30 seconds to my boot routine into Windows - where EFI + Boot Camp does make Windows think there is a traditional BIOS.... my best summary guess.
Work with the only factual symptom: pulling one card and putting in 2nd is causing a problem.

  • ICal corrupted with white screen

I’m running OS10.5.6 on two mac pro’s and using MobileMe to sync my calendars. Last night, I noticed that the iCal screen was entirely white and frozen on my home MacPro and had to force quit. I restarted the Mac. It seemed ok last night but today it is having the same problem as my office MacPro: Today I got the white screen on opening iCal. I tried some obvious things like repair privileges and the like, but finally unsubscribed to MobileMe and then resubscribed. That didn’t fix it so I trashed whatever I could from my user Library preferences folder that contained iCal in title, and unsubscribed to MobileMe and then resubscribed. That didn’t work, so I then trashed my Calenders folder in my library and iCal files in my Preferences folder; and unsubscribed to MobileMe and then resubscribed. Every time I resubscribed I restored data from MobileMe site to local computer. I’m still having the same problem:
    1. iCal screen is incomplete and sometimes goes blank
    2. To Do Items are not visible.
    3. If I open iCal preferences, and then try to close by clicking red ball, it won’t close. I then have to quit or force quit iCal to get rid of the preference window.
Something is obviously corrupted but it’s strange that it’s occurring on 2 separate computers. The only think in common is MobileMe.
    Suggestions appreciated.
    thanks

I have been investigating this problem and have the following info and a "pseudo-fix"
    1. This happened on 3 different macs when syncing with or replacing with MobileMe calendar/address book. As noted above by others, sometimes I get a white screen but usually month calendar (which can't be edited) and empty side bars; I can't move to other months. It appears that iCal is freezing on loading/drawing calendar.
    2. Syncing to my iPhone works ok and reminders do come up on my Mac so iCal seems to be working but just not drawing the screen.
    3. Address book works fine
    4. If I delete Calendars folder in library and iCal preferences, restart, and then sync with MobileMe, iCal works ok initially but within a day the problem recurs even if not connected to internet. Apple tech said that my iCal must be corrupted, but I think not due reason discussed below in item 5.
    5. If I make a clean new user, and sync with MobileMe, then iCal works. I have done this now for over a month and it's stable. Curiously, I did try moving the Calendars folder from the library of my standard user to the new user library folder, and iCal froze up. I deleted the user and made another bare new user and iCal is working ok on several macs.
    6. I think that some app is interfering with iCal in my stander user. e.g. I run Quickeys and variety of other stuff, and this is not running in the new "bare" user. I also have adobe CS3 (and 4), MSO 2008, VPN, Skype, etc. etc. so I have no idea which app is conflicting or how.
    7. As far as my "pseudo-fix", I enter new events via Safari directly into MobileMe and then sync with my macs. This will give me reminder-alarms and allows syncing with iPhone. Every so often (maybe 1-2x per week), I log into my new user account, sync with MobileMe, and then add alarms to needed events in iCal (I haven't figured out how to do this in Safari).
    8. I suspect that Apple will quietly fix this bug in a future update and the problem will go away - this is typically what this "infallible" company does so they don't have to admit a problem. My current setup works but it's a hassle and I wish I had not abandoned Now-Up-To-Date, but I don't want to re-enter a bazillion events into a new calendar program.
    9. I need to keep a record of past events: I did output the calendar as a pdf so if I ever decide to abandon MobileMe and iCal, I will at least have a record.
    Hope this helps

  • I cannot play a video .mov file in Photoshop Elements 12, it shows as a blank white screen

I cannot play a video file (.mov) in Adobe Photoshop Elements, only can hear sound, and shows as a blank white screen.

    Margie
    Thanks for the replies.
I did some homework on your camera, and it appears to be recording H.264 video compression, Linear PCM Stereo, with a .mov file extension.
Let us do a check list to make sure we agree on the details...
    a. You cannot play back the video in the Elements Organizer 12
    b. Can you import this video into Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace with the program's Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets? Does it then show up in Project Assets with an image in the thumbnail? Can you drag the video from Project Assets to the Timeline and have the Edit Mode monitor display that video and play it back there when you hit the monitor play button?
From what I have read of your camera, you could be recording 1920 x 1080 @ 60 progressive frames per second. Can you supply an information on that? What are you or the project setting as the project preset (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio.)
Could you explain what you mean by
and can play it in the video editor, but it just shows the frames, not a real video play.
I am searching the Internet to see if I can find a sample file that I can download.
    More later.

  • Compressor White Screen

My friend uses fraps to record his video but he want me to edit it. In order to do this we needed to change the .avi from fraps to .mov so i could edit with imovie. to begin with we started with a free program but the quality was so bad that it was almost un-veiwable . Next we decided to go big or go home and get a nice expensive video encoder. however when we attempted to use the shiny new Compressor 4 it resulted in a white screen. The audio was fine but the screen was completely white.
    Thx for any help

Hi Tomas, do you have any further information? Your environment, error logs? Screen capture (other than white screen). Cant help without that.
If no success and whilst on the FREEWARE non FCPX thing, the .AVI containers etc....I'd propose you use Handbrake.app from //handbrake.fr in lieu of Compressor.app. It has a good CLI version. Install VLC to get the FREEWARE / OPEN SOURCE codecs.

  • Converting AVI files? White Screen!

So i downloaded QT 7 Pro and tried to play a video recorded from my PC cam. The cam saves the video in .avi format. QT will play the video but its just a white screen and the audio seems to work fine. Can someone please help me figure out how to convert it so that QT will play it and i can put it onto my video ipod??? please help!
    Compaq   Windows XP

That doesn't help any, as it only states the frame size of 320x240. Seems to be a flaw in QT7 as I run QT 6 and have never seen MovieInfo fail to list the video codec. The sound info is complete:
    8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 22.050kHz<<<</div>
means the sound is uncompressed, sampled at 22.05kHz and is mono, not stereo.
Since you are in Windows, try this. Right-click on the avi file icon and choose Properties, then click on the Details tab. This should show you the needed info. Post the video codec name and I or some other poster will try to give you a place to find a QT version. QT is not able to use the Video for Windows codecs that Windows Media Player and other Windows applications use. Not all avi codecs have been ported to QT form so I can't guarantee results.

  • Kinect Studio v2.0 showing white screen

    Hi,
I have this problem in Kinect Studio v2.0 where neither the 2D nor 3D view seems to be working. All I see is a white screen.
I have checked all connections and power lines and they are all working fine. In fact, all samples in the kinect browser works just fine when I run them. But when I run the kinect studio and connect / monitor it, the feed just does not appear. Has anyone
encountered this problem before? Or am I missing out a certain setting?
    Thanks in advance,
    Justus

Have you tried upgrading your drivers. From the screenshot you provided it seems like you have a generic driver installed for Intel. Which chipset do you have? Can you attach the save DXDiag export file from the tool. If you connect an external
monitor do you get the same behavior?
Is this a clean system that had no previous SDK installed?
You might want to try resetting the View settings for the layout and confirm nothing has changed. The UI is configurable from the File > View otion. Click the "Revert to Default" option.
Since you have the control buttons still visible, if you record a clip, and click the Play tab does that screen still show white? If you click the play button on the Play, does the data playback work in any of the samples?
The last resort ay be to uninstall everything to ensure you are in a good state. This includes removing all instance of "Kinect" based components in "Programs and Features" control panel. Remove SDK, runtime and drivers and reboot
the system without the sensor attached. Once you reboot, confirm no instance of those components are on the system and proceed to re-install.
