Why all songs won't erase during sync

I'm setting up my iPhone to erase all songs from the phone during a sync.  There is still 2 GB of songs that won't be deleted from the iPhone.
What can I do?

How have you set this up?
My suggestion is if you sync using iTunes and your computer, use that opportunity to stop the synching of the music.  That should delete the music on your iPhone.

  • Not all songs/albums & album artwork is syncing, why?

I just updated to 2.2 today and now not all of my album artwork is syncing to my ipod and the counts for # of songs, # of albums, etc. don't match what itunes says. WHat is going wrong?

I have a problem that is syncing related: when I downloaded the "Survivor Greatest Hits" CD my iPod sync'd all the songs into the Bob Seeger Greatest Hits album. However on my iTunes they are two distinct albums. Any ideas? How do I correct this? Thanks

  • Why did iTunes delete 2000 photos during Sync, even with 1 GB free space

I am having real headaches with Sync function in iPhone/iTunes. The 2 biggest problems concern Contacts and Photos.
Photos: I used to have 4465 photos on my iPhone, using 1.47 GB at a time when my iPhone still had 0.67 GB free capacity out of its 29.3 GB total. About a week ago, while syncing with iTunes, I saw the error message on my PC stating that there is not enough space on my iPhone to copy all photos. At the end of that sync, I was left with only 2072 photos using 0.78 GB, while the free capacity on my iPhone increased to 1.6 GB. I have synced at least 10 times since then to try and recover my photos, I have deleted the 2.4 GB photo cache, but exactly the same error message and issues happen. Please help get my photos back into my iPhone!!?
Contacts: my iPhone is the principal device on which I put new contacts or update existing ones. After syncing, sometimes I see that the new information entered into my iPhone is no longer there. And so I lose contact with people, since I have no other records! That’s really frustrating.
I have tried upgrading my iPhone software from current v4.02 to the latest v4.1, but for the 5 times that I have tried my WiFi has timed out, and so still not upgrade, as Murphy Law would have it!

I guess I should have included a little more info:
    1. I only have 1 appleID
    2. I only have 1 apple device (the one iphone, nothing else)
    3. I only sync on one computer (VERY annoying you cant use more than 1!!)
    4. I never have any other problems during syncing and don't change any settings
    5. I downloaded the app again so it is back.
I am not asking how to get the app back, I just want to know WHY itunes deleted this app. This is the second or 3rd time it has happened and it is really annoying.
I also would like to get my files back. So again, I'd like to know why itunes deleted the app and if it deleted my files as well.
The most important part of this is to find out WHY this happened so that it wont happen again. It seems to be a pretty simple operation: Plug the iphone in, itunes opens and does a sync. It almost always works perfectly, I never change any settings. Yet every once in a while it deletes a newly installed app so obviously something is wrong. If I can find out what I did wrong, then I can avoid it in the future.
    Thanks!

  • I cant seem to get ALL songs from my library to sync to my new ipod touch, my old ipod has all of them...???

cant sync all of my library to new ipod touch, but my old ipod(not touch) has all songs..????help

The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Have you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer?

  • My iPod can be seen but won't erase and sync with my new pc

So I've got a new pc, and have put all my music onto it but my iPod will not erase and sync, it just appears in iTunes, when I click sync it just sits there doing nothing, any help would  be appreciated.

    Hey QuiteMike,
If your iPod seems to be unresponsive when communicating with iTunes, it may be best to run through the following troubleshooting assistant:
Apple - Support - iPod - iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
If all else fails, you can restore your iPod to factory settings (last step of the troubleshooting assistant):

  • Songs won't erase

I had about 45 songs on my mini that I don't listen to, so I deleted them from my library, but no matter how many times I update the iPod, the songs won't go away. I wouldn't really be too concerned but my memory is running low and I could use this extra space. Thanks for the help.

Try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. You can at least start updating again from a fresh installation which should help: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • Rebooted Computer and all Songs had been erased

I rebooted my computer and when I turned it back on all the songs on my iTunes had been erased...I found all the songs I had purchased but cannot find any of the other songs in my Library. Does anyone know how I can recover my songs or transfer these songs from my iPod to my iTunes??

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • IPhone 4 lost all events entered into iPhone during sync

I have a new iPhone 4. I just setup my iPhone to sync with my calendar in Outlook. I had entered 5 events into the iPhone and none of them were in my Outlook calendar after sync and they had been wiped out on my iPhone. The events I entered into my Outlook DID show up on my iPhone. Strange. Am I missing something? This is NOT an Exchange account.

    Hi,
A few days ago my iP4 locked up. I did a hard reboot ("home" and "power" buttons). When the phone came back, all of my contacts had gone; however, it them re-synched over WiFi so I have all the details back on my phone... BUT... all of the contact photos have been messed around, so now I have the wrong faces on all of my iP4 contacts (but they are correct on my win7 laptop which I sync from).
    Anybody else seen this?
If so, any resolutions to re-sync?

  • All songs and playlists erased!

Last night I was cleaning up the computer a bit...I moved a bunch of files off my computer's hard drive onto an external hard drive, but did NOT touch the location of my music files (most of my ipod songs are mp3s that I've pulled in). I also cleaned out my internet temporary files and cookies and stuff, and performed a disk defragment.
Now, today when I opened itunes, all of my songs and playlists are gone - it's completely reset as if it's never been used....
    Anyone know what's up?
    Thanks!

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Exclamation point next to all songs - won't go away

i have all my music on my external hard drive, and the other day i updated my ipod and forgot to turn the external hard drive on - therefore, all the songs on my itunes were marked as missing.
i've done this plenty of times before, and usually the songs show back up when i turn on my external hard drive and then plug in my ipod again...
but it doesn't seem to work like that anymore.. maybe it's because it's a new version of itunes?
no clue, but how can i fix this?

You need to explain your configuration a little more. Did you copy the iTunes folder onto your hard drive? If so, that is where the iTunes library file (iTunes Library.itl) should be.
One possibility is that when you didn't have the drive connected, iTunes reverted to a copy of the library on your local disk.
If this is the case, try starting iTunes with the shift key held down and when prompted to choose a library, choose iTunes Library.itl on the external drive.
Obviously this only applies if you have a copy of the library on the external disk.

  • ITunes does not sync all songs to iPod

Hi, I have the older iPod with the first color screen, 30gb. Now, for some reason upon syncing (multiple attempts), I'm only able to sync 3921 of 4,185 songs in my library on an external hard drive. All of my songs were imported from my CDs while some were bought at the iTunes store. I'm not sure why 264 songs won't import nor which songs they are.
Is there a way to figure out why they won't import and which songs are "stuck" in iTunes?
    Thanks,
    Mike

so i restore my ipod (30gb) to its original settings due to the fact that i had a lock code on there and couldnt remember what it was to unlock volume...so restored it and now all my songs arent syncing on it..

  • My iPad won't backup to my computer during sync

Since downloading iOS5, my iPad won't backup during sync with my computer.  It tries to start, then just sits there.  Any ideas?  I'm working off of Windows7 on my computer and have already tried the Restore function.
    Thanks!

first of all make sure your icloud storage isn't full. Try plugging your iPad into your computer and click on icloud.
And if non of this helps either contact your local apple store or visit it when you get the chance.
    I hope something helped.

  • WONT SYNC ALL SONGS AND ON PLAYLIST NEXT TO SONGS IS (!) THAT SONGS THAT WEREN'T SYNCED

i HAVE A IPOD CLASSIC JUST TRIED TO SYNC IT AND A MESSAGE CAME UP SAYING NOT ABLE TO SYNC ALL SONGS SO I CONTUNED TO SYNC, WHEN DONE I WENT TO MY LIBRARY OF SONGS AND FOUND NEXT TO THE SONGS NOT SYNCED THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED.

Do a "Get Info" on the songs with the ! and look at the path to the songs. What the ! means is that iTunes couldn't find the song file, so likely the path to the song has changed. It could be they were on a removable drive that changed drive letters.
