Why can't I speak to a member of staff in this company?

I am a current Elements user and considering moving on to Lightroom. Can I get any way of asking someone in this company some questions about it without going through a forum? Every time I try to get a contact number or e-mail address I am told I must go through this route. Please someone give me a number or method to contact someone quickly or I may just not bother with my custom.

The Customer Service and Tech Support people at Adobe you’d talk to are for figuring out problems you’re having installing or using a product that isn’t functioning like it should on your computer, and so would NOT know more than users, here, so the forums are your best chance of getting questions answered about actually what LR does and how to use it.
You can download a trial for LR and use it for free for 30-days, so that may answer a lot of your questions, or at least allow you to ask questions that are relevant to what LR does, rather than just theoretical.
I’d suggest downloading the LR 5.6 update from the Adobe updates page: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
Depending on your reasons for looking at Lightroom, you may want to keep Elements and use it to work on LR images after you’ve done as much as you can in LR. Or you may want to sign up for the Photography Plan subscription for $10/month (US) that includes full Photoshop-CC (not Photoshop Elements) and Lightroom which work as long as you keep paying:

Log in as an Admin User on your PC. Type 'Services' in the search area above when you click on start. (or see control panel and select Admistrative Tools.)
Select the Services shortcut. In the window that appears with your listed service, navigate to ipod service, Apple Mobile Device service, and, Bonjour Services. Doubleclick them to get the property page. Change startup to automatic, click apply. Then click start,
There is a known issue that when iTunes updates it incorrectly sets the Service startup type - this is normally due to installations on Vista and win7 services and drivers that run in the Local Sstem requiring Admin account permissions that are not always granted with User Account Elevation, when running installations or updates in User account.
Normally the Local System is set to inherit the User account permission token when being set up - but Apple in their infinite wisdom have a higher token in place for their services. so a standard user cannot derogate the required elevation, even with the UAC to admin prompt, since the local system is owned by the Machine account and only Admin, bBackup, Restore, Machine, operator accounts carry the same descriptor permissions on process ownership to set these services correctly.
Third party security programs, such as Kaspersky can also limit installations by User account installations, which adds to the problem. I have had a few installations fail, even in Admin mode - because Kaspersky sits on par with the Main Machine Administrator account for watching program and installation directories and registry keys - (which have higher privilege levels in some respects than the ordinary Admin account you normally start a new machine in before you add any other user accounts- all very confusing - but that's Microsoft all over for you.
Follow Ralph's advice if you do not have the necessary software already installed. You should install Apple's Application Management Software - which will look after the installation of all required elements for you and notify you of updates pending. In options have it set to Notify only - not all updates may be requred, and this option allows you to see what is being installed. It is good practice to set all updating software to Notify only - especially any thirdparty software - much of which carry all sorts of little 'extra's' you may not need or want.
It is also good practice to keep an eye on your Program and Features option in control panel, just to see what is being installed and when - including Windows updates.
Sorry about the long reply, but with December being your last sync - a lot can change in the meantime. Best be prepared.

I have a child with special need who uses proloquo2go as a speaking program. He just got a new IPOD and has to go through a password screen before he can choose his speaking program. I want to remove this feature. I don't care if it makes it insecure.

We just bought a new itouch and it requires that he enter a password before he can open his speaking program. He is intellectually challenged and this additional step (having to think of that 4 digit code) is distracting him from what he wanted to communicate. I want to remove this password screen as a transition to function. Can anyone help me? Every tutorial I have found concerns removing the password or re-setting it. I need to remove that PROCESS.

Do you mean the lock screen passcode?
Settings > General > Passcode Lock > enter your passcode > Turn Passcode Off.
If it is not the lock screen passcode and is only requested when opening this particular app, you may want to check the settings within the app.

iPad - I can understand why you ask. It's too bad you can't sync PDF playlist. Right now the only way is to use Sugarsync. From there you can "Open PDF in iBooks". Or you can use Goodreader.
iPhone - Why would you want to use iTunes and iBooks? Although iBooks is well designed and handles PDF very well even on iPhone, it doesn't have text-reflow feature which makes PDF reading useless on iPhone unless you want to loose your eye sight soon. So the only way is to sync a folder using Sugarsync. You can access Sugarsync from Goodreader.

Why does your site not allow the use of special characters in passwords? Do you not want your customers to be as secure as possible?
As a network security admin, limiting passwords to prohibit special characters is an extremely poor security practice.
Telling me that my security as a customer is important, then tell me that your own system limits my ability to keep my account as secure as I would like seems quite backwards. I understand the archaic reasoning was that not all devices have a QWERTY keyboard, this logic is flawed and is no longer necessary.

Hi, sorry to hear that you are experiencing these problems, but sometimes a new machine (be it Apple, Dell, whatever) can be defective right out the box - its not unheard of.
If your machine came with defective hardware and is still under warranty (seems to be the case here) then you have nothing to lose taking it back to where you bought it and, if there really is defective hardware present I am sure they'll rectify the problem.
A small note: these problems are not manufacturer-specific - its pointless blaming the manufacturer as I can assure you this happens with ALL brands. Apple supplies quality hardware and software - I know of a user who has had a machine switched on since 1987 without problems

Why can i get a connection w/my wireless laptop with this router (WRT54GS ) but not on the desktop?

I have an excellent signal w/this laptop (wireless) but when I try to use the desktop with the same router it wont go. Do I need driver download? Do I need an IP address for the router? I use tech support for connecting the desktop to the internet straight from the modem they sent me but because I didnot buy the router from them, they wont help me figure out once I plug in the router and setup more than one machine, i cant do it. Initailly, I setup everything w/my laptop being the main computer in my home until I got this desktop recently. So knowing the desktop is fine because it works straight from the modem, and the laptop works w/the router and modem hooked up together but not the desktop, what the HECK is the problem? I dont have any cd or anything w/this router because when I moved, i never found the box it came in again. Is there someplace online I can find what I need? Im wondering how I will know if I have a response from someone on this thread? will I get an email from this site? gosh Im confused.

How you are trying to use the desktop...wired or wireless?
If you are trying to connect the computer to the router via an Ethernet cable then,try changing the cable.Check the ip address you are getting on the computer...
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then type ping 4.2.2.2 and press Enter, if you get request timed out, then you need to upgrade your router's firmware...If you get 4 replies then type ping yahoo.com and press Enter...If you get replies for Yahoo then you should get the Internet after adjusting the browser settings...

Don't know why that was. This forum system has lots of bugs. It stalled out for ten minutes today for me. No one has been able to convince apple to fix instead of the ocasional patches.
And to top it off, you can't even speak with a Apple tech/Rep.

Why can't I delete gaps in the video or audio timeline?

I have added narration to a sequence of old (silent) video clips. But when I delete or add a clip to march the narration I frequently get a gap on either the video line or the narration line. I can click on it to turn it gray but I can't delete to close the gap. The audio and video are not linked. They were recorded at totally different times. Why can't I click on a grayed gap and delete this?
One note:every once in a while (one time in ten) I can delete a grayed area. I have no idea what I've done on this occasion to close gaps.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I understand. What is the difference between a true gap and and an apparent gap? There were no gaps in either the narrative or the video until I inserted (or deleted a clip). I'm only using one track (the first one). And I've added the narrative just below it. There is nothing at all on video 2 or audio 2 (except for the title at the very beginning).
How do other people add a short clip into the video 1 timeline without introducing a comparable gap in the narrative line below?
This is maddening when I'm trying to finish what is really only a 12 minute video. Attempting to close everything back up again literally stops me cold. I assume more sophisticated users have ways of dealing with this. I wish I knew what they were.

Why can't Apple Mail filter out junk mail like Gmail?

Gmail does a great job of filtering out spam. Lately, iCloud is doing a miserable job. It appears to have gotten much worse in recent months. Apple's official advice on this is laughably ineffective. Why can't Apple's do as well as Google at this?

Why can't Apple figure out Keynote to QuickTime???

User problems with QuickTime exporting from Keynote are legion (just look at these discussion forums). Why can't Apple (makers of both Keynote and QuickTime) master this task?
I want a QuickTime video of a self-running presentation. I have audio narration on each slide via .WAV files. My animation timings are set perfectly to match the narration. My transitions are set to advance at the appropriate time in the narration. When I view the show, everything works PERFECTLY. Narration is intact, animations are perfectly timed, slides automatically advance at exactly the right time. Now all I need is a video of my presentation in QuickTime. No problem, I'll use Keynote's handy Export to QuickTime tool.
Then things get ugly. I export to QuickTime and it all falls apart. The timing is off. Long pauses between my slide transitions. Bah. All I want is a QuickTime version of exactly what I see when I play the slideshow - but that's not what I get. Incredibly frustrating. I was hoping they'd fix this in Keynote '09. Alas, not so.
Step it up, Apple. Please!

This is truly unbelievable. I have used apple equipment since the Apple II. Quicktime and keynote are key apple software. Why can't apple figure this out. I am a college professor recording audio with keynote presentations. Keynote operates very well. Never a problem. Why can't I export to quicktime without trouble? Why do we need to work around this? The quicktime export produces a video track and a movie track, but no audio track. You can check this in the properties after export. It doesn't matter what export settings I choose. Always a movie without an audio track. I am a simple college professor trying to get lecture movies on the course management system. If the audio is recorded on keynote, which it is, why can't quicktime pick it up and add it to the movie? This problem has been around for years through several versions of quicktime and keynote. Is this an Apple culture where the keynote people don't talk to the quicktime people? Either keynote should record in a format that quicktime can use or quicktime should be able to read the keynote audio and add it to the movie. How can this be education friendly if a college professor can't export his recorded keynote presentations to quicktime? I don't want a work around that takes me extra time. My time is precious and my students need access very soon after the lecture. This should be at the top of a fix-it list in the apple education group.
