Why can't Verizon Wireless provide accurate minute allowance information ?

I traveled for several weeks overseas in April and requested to suspend the service. When I arrived I resumed service. I am very cautios when it comes to minute usage, and frequently check verizon for minutes used/left. When I arrived on the 3rd of May and resumed my service, I noted how minutes I have left on Verizon's website and before the cycle ended on May 18, Verizon website was showing that I was well bellow my plan's minute allowance.
Then on May 21st I was shocked to see a $54.90 charge on my bill for exceeding my minute allowance! I called in and the rep, Ashley told me that Verizon website was showing inccorect information, and in fact my minutes had to be prorated, that's why I was charged. And despite the fact that I was mislead by Verizon own website, and wasn't notified by any other means about my actual minute limits (like SMS which Verizon is sending to customers that are about to exceed their limit as a matter of policy and soon an FCC requirement). Despite all that, I will not be reimbursed.
I try to think of a good reason why a tech savvy company like Verizon is not capable to show actual minute limits on its website, other than to bait and switch its customers ! Unilke, roaming charges which may come from external sources, there is absolutely no excuse for Verizon not to show actual minute allowance on its website when bill is prorated, since this information is internal and customers rely on it!

With your scenario, it is perfectly understandable why you could have been well below your minute allowance and still have gotten an additional minute charge on your bill for exceeding your allowance.
Your billing date is on the 18th, but you say that you suspended service, I assume so that you would not have to pay for service while you were away.  For the sake of this example, let's say that your monthly allowance is 900 minutes per month and you had service suspended on May 1 so that you would not have to pay for your service from May 1 through May 18. That means that you used 12 days of service. If you looked online and it said you had used 500 minutes(this is well below your monthly allowance of 900), you would still have incurred an overage charge. Since you wanted to only pay for 12 days of service(by having your service suspended), your allowance for those 12 days would have been prorated to 12/30 of 900 which is 360 minutes for those 12 days of service. By using 500 minutes, this means you would have had an overage of 140 minutes and an overage charge of $56. Hope this explains how this could have happened.

    Verizon does not install / set up non-Verizon equipment.
    If you are willing to pay to have it configured, then try Geek Squad at Best Buy (but don't expect it to be cheap).

    When I had my Nokia Icon, I had to wait months and month and months to get the official 8.1 non-buggy official update. I asked Verizon monthly when I would get this update to have the same experience all their customers with OLDER phones were having. They NEVER had an answer. I cannot explain how ****** off I was because the sales rep that sold it to me explained it would be one of the first phones to get 8.1. Now, I have left the WP environment because of the sour experience, and I see that I have a phone again that is out of date. I understand it was just released, so it's different. Why can't Verizon step up to the plate and answer? Why cant they man it up to make the transition faster? Feels like the pretty just ignore everyone and tell them to **** off since we already give them money.

    @CitizenDigital, the answer can probably boil down to this.  There is a team of people that have to review this update when it arrives at the corporate office. Once the "paperwork" has been reviewed, the files need to be reviewed, then the update needs to be tested, then an entire rollout plan needs to be put in place.  The people in charge of officially releasing the update to the public are probably waiting on the group of technical engineers to give the thumbs up by some email or morning meeting.  Until they do, "Verizon" wont know when the update will be ready.  All they hear from the tech boys is Hold On, We're testing.  I work in a similar industry so I see how the ball rolls in situations like this.

    An Apple ID is free and you will be charged nothing for creating it.

    In the past month, I've spoken to dozens of Verizon reps on the phone, been disconnected a few times, been at 4 different stores, been told several different things by EVERYONE, been told "oh sure, we can do that" only to be told by someone else "no we can't" ... how can you run a business like this??!!!
    I AM SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW I COULD SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    First, it was because our account was listed as a monthly paid cash account,
    then, it was because we were trying to get phones at a franchise store,
    then, it was because our account was set up as a business account (according to the Verizon rep I met at Wal-Mart, even though the Vz reps on the phone tell me it's listed as a personal account AND I sign onto our account as a personal account)
    then, we were told to order our upgrades on over the phone (but then we were told we would have to pay for the phones and wait for a debit card rebate to be mailed to us, which my husband does not want to do)
    then, we were told to order the upgrade phones online, but every time I try I get a processing error,
    then, the computer tells us to call a specific phone number if we believe the error was not right,
    then, the phone recording message repeats itself through multiple options TWICE and then hangs up on me,
    then, I call another Verizon number and get a "helpful" rep who tells me we can order them on the phone ... only to come back to me after being on hold and telling me they have gone home for the day,
    then, I try to get help online at Verizon.com and NO ONE IS AVAILABLE TO HELP ME.
    I've been to Wal-Mart 3 or 4 times, been to the local franchise store, been to a store in the Chicago area, and have spoken with Verizon reps on the phone until I'm blue, and, still ... STILL ... I don't have new phones.

    That is because the people who edit the posts are NOT CS agents but instead are people who are employed by the vendor Verizon has contracted to host the forum. I don't even believe they are Verizon employees, but employees of the Jive forum platform.
    For example, if a Verizon store had an electrician repairing the lighting in one of their stores, you wouldn't necessarily walk in and expect them to get off their ladder to assist you with information about a phone since they had nothing better to do than to work on the lights.  First of all, they aren't salesmen or CS agents. Second, they may not even have the capability to give you the assistance you are requesting.

  • Why can't Verizon help when my phone has no service where there IS service for everyone else on Verizon?

    I have just been on hold with Verizon tech support for an hour and then they terminated the call without ever connecting me to anyone. I have made 4 calls on this issue and was on hold for more than 30 minutes each time. Nobody could assist because I was on a land line. The last person told me to go where there was another cell phone and then call tech support. I did that but no tech support available. They kept saying "sorry you are still having trouble, goodbye." My home is served by a land line and I live where there is NO cell phone service. I rely on my cell phone when I go to town or are on the road. I found out last week that my phone is no longer finding service. It may have not been in service for more than a month and I never noticed. Perhaps its activation got screwed up when I looked into upgrading on the web not and did not or perhaps Verizon is forcing me to upgrade by cutting me off. Now I have no service anywhere and can't get any human assistance. Does anyone out there have an email address I can write to?  I will keep calling next week but THERE IS NO VERIZON SUPPORT ON HOLIDAYS or WEEKENDS.  There is no real online help for my device. My bill is current.  HELP!!! Verizon should deduct by bill (I'll accept the minimum wage) for every hour I spend on hold or talking to tech support people who can't offer any support.

    I have been going to your store in Bend, OR every month due to your failure to correct a charge for over a year. It is $9.99 for VZNavigator on xxx-xxx-xxxx. I would like written proof of these charges & usage because when I take action, I would like to show the total overcharge. I have the Share Everything Plan & have been with Verizon when it was AirTouch and now I am wondering how many other charges have been slipped into my bill.   • Why can't Verizon and Asurion use common sense!

    I have had Verizon for years.  I have had insurance for years.  Luckily I never had to use it, until today!  I had a beautiful red Windows 8 HTC 8x. Well I dropped it and the screen smashed, ugh!  Anyway, I was like no problem I have insurance!  Well it is a problem!  Seriously Verizon get a clue on how to do things in a simple manner!  I called Verizon they were very nice (Enterprise, AL store), but told me I had to go through the insurance company.  Ok, all good until I called Asurion!  Not helpful at all!  1st off they don't have my color, ok not happy but I can live with it, then the 1st girl lied to me, she said they could have a black phone overnighted to me and I would get it tomorrow, I said well I am not happy but fine, hang up (she put in her notes that the call was lost, yeah right) anyway I called back.  Spoke with Tabitha and she told me they actually didn't have my phone in stock and that it would be 5 to 7 business days before I could get one!  What!!!!!!!  Really not happy now!  She said well, since we don't have it in stock we can offer you a comparable phone, I said ok, what about the Nokia 928, she said we don't have that in stock either, but we have the Samsung Odyssey, my husband said NO it was junk.  I asked them why I couldn't go to the store and get a new phone?  That seems like the simple thing to do, they had them in stock they even had blue?  That is not how they work!  Seriously, that is the simple solution!  I pay Verizon every month for my insurance, why shouldn't I be able to go get a new phone, I would have my new phone today!  Asurion told me I could go to the store and pay full price for my phone and then they would reimburse me, they said after I filled out the paperwork, mailed my phone back to them, they verified all my information was correct they would mail me a check.  If I had full price I would just go buy the Nokia 928, but the reason I sign up for contracts is that I get a discounted price on the flipping phone!  Why couldn't I just take my  broken phone to Verizon, they have all my information, get a new phone and Asurion pay Verizon for my phone.  I take my car to a shop and file on my insurance and the insurance company pays the company not me, so why can't Asurion do that? 

    I feel your pain. I had a technician come out twice, my moden replaced 3 times, and now my monthly cost has gone up but my internet speeds are not much improved. 

  • Why was I required to provide credit/debit card information in order to obtain an Apple ID?

    I Have and At&t account with four phones and two tablets. When I tried to create an Apple ID for my mother on her iPhone 4, it required credit/debit carinformation. However, on all my other devices (under the same account ), I was not required to provide credit or debit information. I had the option not to enter that information.
    Also, I am very hesitant to put any information if that type on the Internet. I will never. I was hacked into very badly and have spent a lot of money to resolve the issue. I feel it is still not resolved. On one of my new iPhone 6, it crashed and said it was due to a third party. What does that mean... I am resorting to you guys for help. No one has helped nor cares to help me with this problem. My laptops are junk, my phones were junk, etc. All of this due to one person who I am 99.9% sure of his identity. However, authorities do not care nor Internet companies hacking department nor Dell's hacking department. I have changed my router, passwords, web key, phones, tablets. I have paid Dell to resolve the problem on my laptops. Nothing has stopped this person. I do not know what to do... I am simply frustrated and do not trust anything anymore online. I do not even trust asking this question because he will probably answer....

    The "hacker" was a friend I mine, I thought until I started to notice unusual activity and my internet settings were changed. About a year ago, I asked him for help with setting up my computer, iPhone 4, and tablet for my company. My brother and I run a small HVAC company. I trusted this individual and left my laptop at his house. At that time I never thought he would do what he did. I stupidly gave him my email password and Apple ID. Whenhe returned my computer, I started to notice that my internet settings were changed. He changed my Internet from being a"home" wifi connection to a "business" with DNS, adapters, etc. I am not computer savy on how they operate and all of the different Internet options. I just know how to use computers, not programing or changing the operating system, like DOS. However, I noticed the change in my Internet settings along with other things. An administrator account was made, certificates were installed, and I was unable to change certain things on my phone and computer. I called Dell for help, I pleaded with them to let me send the laptop to them because I do not know enough to be able to tell you everything that needs to be fixed/changed. They would not let me and said it coyld be fixed over the phone. I paid $400 and they said, the problem is fixed and my internet/computer issues are resolved. I only think they got my computer back on line and increased the security. I do not think they fix the problem and currently one of my laptops is blue screened. I also believe he put something in my CD drive and believe he reversed the camera to look through it. Hence, I put post its over it to block the view. To this day, I cover the camera. I do not know what he did nor everything he did. I been reading up on security and hacking. I think he may have installed a key stroke logger but I do not know enought to truely know if he did. I have called authorities, spoken with many internet companies, talked with Verizon (my wifi provider), At&t my phone/tablet company, apple and many other people. I have changed passwords, my router, my web key, my phones, my tablets, apple id, and enabled two-step verification. I do not know where to go or what to do....... I have been dealing with this for over a year know.  Yesterday, I noticed that there were phone numbers blocked from calling my phone. I did not do it and took a picture so I can call the numbers to see find out who's numbers  were blocked. He tries to get on my Facebook and I know he can access my emails. I found another password that worked to log in to my yahoo business email. I want to make this person be held responsible for his actions. He has cost me a lot of money and interfered with the daily operations of my business. Sorry for writing a book but I am looking for any advice on where to go and what to do....... I welcome and appreciate any and all replies that can help in any way !!!

  • Why can't I download the extension to allow Dreamweaver to recognize .pro files?

    I understand that Adobe has decided to abandon Adobe Proto.  I don't understand why they removed acces to the extension that allows Dreamweaver the ability to use the .pro files that Proto makes.  I just barely purchased adobe Proto on December 14th, and I wasnt able to use it until the 25th as my iPad was a christmas gift.  In between those two dates, adobe decides to basically render my purchase useless.  I think that this is dumb.  Does anybody have anhy information about my problem?  Where I can get the extension elsewhere maybe.  I want either a refund of my purchase or the extension.

    Sorry for any frustration this has caused.
    Although I am not aware of how/why the decision was made to remove the Proto Extension along with other Proto content, it does make sense from the perspect that the extension was made (mostly) obsolete in late July.
    The 12.0.1 update for Dreamweaver CS6 includes native support for .pro files, meaning that installing an extension was no longer necessary.
    Are you using Dreamweaver CS6?
    If so and you're already updated, just go to File > Open to open up .pro files.
    If you're not sure if you have the latest update installed, go to Help > Updates.

  • Why can't Verizon honor what many reps have offered?

    We were going to leave Verizon to do Sprints Unlimited for life, so we called to see how much out ETF would cost. The rep said to keep us with verizon she would offer us the verizon max plan even though we didn't have unlimited data. So we decided yes, we called back talked to another rep who said we needed to fill out inactive pricing request and they would change it. So we went ahead and ordered the phones. We call the next day and a rep tells us it was approved and we just need to call when we activate our phones and they will swap it over. So we get one phone in, call to get our data swapped over and we get told we can't because everything get denied. So they sent in another request. The rep was going to call in two days telling us if it got approved. Of course all i got was a measly text from the guy saying it had been denied ( a text really? how cowardly verizon, shame on you!) So I call verizon again the lady says she can see in the notes where it was promised many times (and I recorded the conversations so they can't deny it) but there is nothing she can do we can't get it. Thanks verizon for lying to us! Any other company that makes a mistake, owns up, and honors what their company rep offered. I guess Verizon is the exception. What is the point of having reps if Verizon doesn't back what they say? This just shows Verizon is all in for the money and they will continuously lie to their customers to make an extra buck. How disappointing!

    Cancel everything via just porting out to Sprint. They will close your accounts with verizon via the port request.
    Sprint is also offering a $100 trade in for your old devices when you sign up with them
    Never trust verizon in anything they promise. You are better off porting out to Sprint.
    Wait for the customer service response to your post here with "why would you want to leave us, we love you and want you to stay with our family" then a link to show how much money you will be taken for.

  • Why can't verizon correct it's billing problems.

    From all of the posts on here and my own experiences it is obvious that verizon has major issues in it's billing and customer service departments.
    This time around my problem stems from buying the new quantum router.  The router it replaced was an upgrade from the original router that was installed when I first started my service and I paid for that router when I upgraded to it as well.  
    Now they are charging me for not returning the router that belongs to me.  I placed a call over a week ago and the customer service rep assured me it would be taken care of and a credit would be issued..... nothing has happened.  
    Since I keep reading all the collection horror stories I am worried the same will happen to me. 
    Why does verizon have so many issues with billing and then not take care of the problems when a customer calls.  The rep I spoke to on the phone said she had no reference number to give me and she had taken care of it herself.   Apparently not.
    So, any suggestions on how I can get this fixed??????

  • Why, Oh Why can't Verizon get me the new Pre???!!!!

    Why is it, that all the nice new smart phones end up getting a sweet deal to an exclusive network?  Verizon is the best and most reliable network in my geographical location, and I can't get the phone I want!!!
    I'm not degrading AT&T at all, I just want the new Pre, and just like NOT being able to try an I-Phone, I can't try the Pre!  
    I was a die-hard Palm Treo user for 5 yrs, until I finally heard that there wasn't going to be anymore Palm phones introduced, and two months later.....BAM, the new Pre gets introduced!  So, here I am, stuck using a windows mobile 6.1 piece of junk, and I'm frustrated!  What's a guy to do?

  • Why can't Verizon fix ordering for current Verizon customers?

    It should be EASY to buy a Verizon offered phone off the Verizon website as a VERIZON CUSTOMER!
    I'm autopay prepaid.  All I want is to purchase the Samsung G4 refurb off the site for the free deliver and activation.  However, the system says I have to add $45 service.  I'M A CUSTOMER WITH SERVICE!
    Chat with a rep tells me I can call Customer Service later and have that fee used on my account.  DUH!  At that point I'm not on autopay and will lose my other 500mb!!

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.
