Why did I have to pay for free App? ridiculous!

The day before, I tried to download Free App, Which is "Sky Call". As the Downloading was processing, iTunes wanted me to keep registering Account to verify my statement. I thought It wouldn't charge any money because "The app" was definitely "For Free", so I just filled my name , address , even my card number as it requests. Right after I pressed the button "Done", iTunes charged me $1..?! OMG...
I know Just $1 isn't big deal.. ,However, The point is iTunes had to ask me about agreement before it charged. If I knew that i gotta pay for it, I wouldn't keep going that Installation on the phone. I am so confused what is going on... Even though $1 might be service charge, The Apple should have got agreement from the customer! Basically, That is Duty Customers have to know.

Apple isn't charging for a free app, it is verifying the bank card that it exists and has available funds. The charge will fall off the account without completing.

  • Why do I have to pay for free aps?

Why do I have to pay for free ads. I look in my bank
Statements and says they charge like 3 dollars but the ad
Says free. This isnt right nor is it fair I already paid 300
For the itouch why charge me for the free aps. It's not like I
Don't buy things from the ap store. No I don't not download
    Pro -aps.

The price of an app, and how it is marketed, is controlled by that app's developer. They certainly may advertise that an app is free, but the App Store price is the only price. If the App Store says the app is free (ie, the download button says "Free" instead of listing a price), then it's free.
If you are seeing a bill in your bank statement for a free app, that is probably coming from some kind of in-app purchase. Many apps have additional features or special game items that can be purchased within the app. A free app may still have such in-app purchases.
It's important to note that in-app purchasing should be a very transparent process. It should be made clear that you are making a purchase, and you should have to enter your Apple ID password. If you have found an app that does not make this process transparent, and hides the fact that a purchase with real money is being made, that needs to be reported to Apple as a violation of the App Store rules. If Apple agrees with you, they will remove the app from the store until the developer submits a more compliant update.

  • Why do I have to pay for a app on my iPhone when I have it already on my Ipad

Why do I have to pay for a app on my iPhone when I have it already on my Ipad

That's up to the seller of the app. Many, but not all, apps will work on both the iPhone and iPad. For those apps that do you only need to pay for them once, as long as they were purchased with the same Apple ID. But app developers have the option of selling separate versions of their app for iPhone and iPad. For those apps you have to pay for them for each platform.

Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

  • Do i have to pay for free apps?

When ever i try to download a free app it says "verification required, beforeyou can make any purchases you must tap contuinue to verify your payment info" it has happened with all the apps ive tried to download and its getting really annoying!
    please help

You're asked to verify your payment information as a security precaution, even if you're only downloading a free app. If you're being constantly asked to verify, however, not just once in a while, go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Why did I have to pay for a new USB cable for my iphone when I didn't break it and it was only 6 months old?

The Apple store charged me for replacing the USB cable. It would work but if I move the cord it would connect, but then disconnect again. I got with my iPhone 5 6 months ago. It has a warranty and I had the Apple Plus Care that I paid extra for. It was in no way my fault that it broke.

If the Apple store refused replacement under warranty they clearly found
evidence of damage which would void the warranty

  • HT201364 Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?

Hi, If I do not have to pay for free installation, why am I being asked for billing details?
    Aaron

iCloud backs up your iOS device (not your Mac) automatically. You can remove the backup:
    http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm122d3ef202
and it will not back up again. This will not affect a backup made using iTunes. The notice you see refers to calendars, contacts, iWork documents and so on, which live on the server and are read from there by your Mac, and so will obviously disappear if you turn iCloud off altogether (which you don't need to do) or turn off Documents (which you don't need to do either).

  • Why do I have to pay for iPages when I already have it on my computer?

My iCloud home page shows five icons including iWork. When I click on the iWork icon I am shown a link that takes me to the iTunes store where I am asked to pay $9.99 for each of the iWork components. I already have these installed on my iMac. Why do I have to pay for them again?

Different operating systems. Your iMac runs OS X and the iWork
applications you have on your iMac are written for OS X. On your
iDevice, the operating system is iOS and you would need a version
of the apps written for that. If you are not planninig to use the apps
on your iDevice (iPhone, iPad, some iPods), you do not need to
buy them. Having the apps on your iDevices provides instant
syncing of documents across the iDevices using iCloud. iCloud
does not provide Google App-like operation if that is what you are
seeking. If this does not answer your question, perhaps someone
    else will chime in.

  • I still have ilife '09. How can i update to the new ilife? Do i have to pay for each app seperately in order to update?

I still have ilife '09. How can i update to the new ilife? Do i have to pay for each app seperately in order to update?
I am an Aperture user and I am tired of managing my old iphoto library seperately. In order to use the new combined aperture/iphoto abilities i need a newer version of iphoto. Apple says that the new iphoto is free, however my iphoto (version 8.1.2) did not update. How do i update iphoto so that i can use the library with Aperture?

iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband are free. However, you must be running Mavericks in order to download and use them. Mavericks is free also.  Therefore your Mac must be capable of running Mavericks:
The following is from: Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks.
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
iWork is not as it's an upgrade and not an update. Upgrades for iWork have always had to be purchased. However, the previous iWork apps will work fine with Mavericks.

  • My iPod keep telling me to pay for free apps

My iPod touch 4th generation keeps telling me to pay for free apps.

What makes you think you are getting charged?
Many free apps have paid in-app purchases.
Also, there maybe a temporary charge on the account. See:

  • Why do i have to pay for my songs again?

I've bought a lot of music on Itunes,
and now i got myself a new MBP, and it takes a lot of time to find all the missing songs and when i find them i have to pay for them again...
    Can this be true??

Re-downloading for free is not currently available in all countries (re-downloading and iTunes in the Cloud by country). Do the songs show on the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes home page on your computer's iTunes ? Or have you not got a backup copy of your purchases on, for example, an external drive that you can copy onto your Macbook Pro and add into its iTunes ?

  • HT202879 Other Word Processors than Pages? & why do we have to pay for an upgrade that is incomplete?

    I am very unhappy.
In order to access my documents from iCloud I have to upgrade to Mavericks (free, alright) and the new Pages, for which I have to pay.
The new Pages (and Numbers etc) does not have the same functionality as the one I have been using - yet I have to pay for it. Alright, Apple promises to upgrade in the next six months and add the new functionality. This is not good enough.
This was a very unpleasant surprise today - when I went to my document that I have been working on on my iPhone and my Mac at various times during the day and the Mac one had changed to 'Untitled 47' and the version on my iPhone would not open on my Mac unless I upgraded to the new Pages - $19.99 - and to OSX Mavericks - free - but I don't want to upgrade yet. And I don't want to pay for a new version of Pages that clearly does not have the same functionality(according to the user comments and the apple page that  this discussion is about).
I have praised Apple to high heaven for the functionality of iCloud. But this really really annoys me.
If there's anything I hate its a company I am relying on forcing me to upgrade before they've sorted out the bugs.
I am definitely considering changing to a different company's word processor - if only they had a word processor that I could use on my Mac and iOS devices.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Tom! Following your advice I posted a (shorter) version at feedback.
And thanks for those hints. Yes I've been looking at those ones.
IA Writer and Byword both can use the iCloud.
    Writeroom only syncs using Dropbox.
Of course they're very minimal apps compared to Pages, or Word.
    I feel very depressed.
Perhaps I will have to use one of these and then import into Word for final editing.
Believe it or not, for a minute I thought MS Word might be a contender for iOS syncing - because there is this thing called Office 365. But look at the reviews.
    https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/office-mobile-for-office-365/id541164041
I really don't want to deal with all the problems of updating to Mavericks just now.

  • I have a mac 10.5.8, Why do i have to pay for the 10.6 update?

Friends of mine have Mac's and had the update with no hassle free of charge, so why do i have to pay?

    Hi,
The current upgrade to Snow Leopard is only $29.00 available here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
The Apple Discussions TOU prevents us from discussing when the next upgrade will be available or how much it will cost.
    See: Terms of Use
There's no guarantee you won't be able to upgrade directly from Leopard v10.5 to v10.7. You are better off upgrading to Snow Leopard now especially if you want to use the Mac App Store.
