Why do gcc-go and go are in conflict?

Hi.
I just found that gcc-go and go are now in conflict. I just removed go when upgrading, but was curious about the reason.
I'm new to Go and I really don't know the benefits of one compiler over the other, so I had this whim of having both installed togheter.
Thanks.

Go user and active Go development list follower here. The thing is that gcc-go now has it's own version of the "go" command that should be a closely following fork of the one in the "go" package and is primarily there to make gcc-go work more easily on architectures where the standard go distribution is not available.
The "go" command in the standard distribution (the go package) has support for gcc-go too though so that gcc-go and go can work together. So I think the best solution would be to install the gcc-go binaries that conflict with "gcc-" prefixed or disable them during configure.
On x86 and x86_64 the go package is the more advanced Go implementation and should be preferred (gcc-go lacks escape analysis currently and has less advanced garbage collection especially once go 1.5 is released)

  • "eclipse and xulrunner are in conflict"?

I was trying to install Eclipse from extra, but I ran into the following problem:
    ➜ ~ sudo pacman -S eclipse

:: eclipse and xulrunner are in conflict. Remove xulrunner? [y/N] n

I have a few programs installed that depend on xulrunner, so removing it doesn't work.
Is pacman's local database corrupted or is there really a conflict here? I can't figure out how to get pacman to tell me why xulrunner and Eclipse are in conflict.

that's the most stupidest solution ever . the best solution is to report on the tracker and drop xulrunner from monodevelop dependency chain
The best solution, imho, would be to wait for the fix in "testing"... I've not reported in the tracker because someone else had already done and warned about the removal of xulrunner... without effect.
And, sorry, i'm not qualified to drop xulrunner from Monodevelop dependancy chain.
Anyway, i prefer using a old version of Eclipse AND Monodevelop than the brand new shiny version of Eclipse without Monodevelop.

Just enabled [multilib] repository and upgraded my system except for anything that depends on binutils-multilib because pacman thinks that "binutils-multilib and binutils are in conflict." How does one go about resolving the conflict?

binutils-multilib should provide binutils as well, so this is the expected behaviour.

  • [SOLVED]Cannot upgrade pacman because gnupg and gnupg2 are in conflict

I have tried a system update with "pacman -Syu". Pacman says that pacman needs to be upgraded first. I let this happen. Then I get the conflict. Both paths (remove gnupg2 and not remove gnupg2) fail.
    :: gnupg and gnupg2 are in conflict. Remove gnupg2? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: gcc: requires gcc-libs=4.6.2-7
    :: gnupg and gnupg2 are in conflict. Remove gnupg2? [y/N] n
    error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
Has anybody an idea how to proceed. An atempt to upgrade gcc fails as well
    pacman -S gcc
:: The following packages should be upgraded first :
    pacman
:: Do you want to cancel the current operation
:: and upgrade these packages now? [Y/n] n
    resolving dependencies...
    looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: libtool: requires gcc=4.6.2
Since any incosistency between gcc and its related libraries are usual fatal, I prefer not to experiment.
Thanks in advance for any hint.

How can I investigate what's the source of the problem? Is there a way to get pacman to tell me which package it is that is trying to pull in openntpd? (Or does anybody know right away how to resolve this issue?)
Oh, by the way: "pacman -Sii openntpd" says
    Required By : networkmanager-dispatcher-openntpd
    but I don't use networkmanager.

    Ha, how stupid of me...
I thought openntpd was being pulled in, but it was already installed (by me, apparently) although I've never used it. Removing it by hand before upgrading resolved the problem. Thanks!

:: libbaloo4 and baloo are in conflict (baloo<=4.14.0-1)
So does anyone know how I can fix this problem so that I can update all the packages on my system?
I don't have any baloo packages installed right now.  I ran "pacman -Q | grep baloo" and it showed nothing.
I looked into it a little bit:
I'm using KDE, and some of their packages depend on baloo-widgets (which must be a recent change), so that is probably the root cause of my problem.
    baloo-widgets is at 4.14.0-1.
    baloo is at version 4.14.0-1.
baloo4-widgets is at version 4.14.0-1, provides replaces and conflicts with baloo-widgets,
libbaloo4 is at version 4.14.0-3, and conflicts with baloo<=4.14.0-1
baloo4 is at version 4.14.0-3, conflicts with baloo<=4.14.0-1, and is supposed to provide and replace baloo.
The three baloo4 packages were updated less than 24 hours ago by Andrea Scarpino (2014-09-13 07:35 UTC).  I'm not sure when they were created.
This thread from 11 hours ago seems to be related: baloo4 update and not more necessary.
I don't update my Arch system very often. It's possible that the last time I updated was before 2014-08-20, which was the last time the old baloo packages were updated.
I tried to install baloo4-widgets manually but got a weird error:

Removing a package from a repository doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do, but is that how things are done in the Arch world?  Does it need to be removed so that all the packages listing a dependency on "baloo" will use "baloo4" instead?  I would prefer if packages never got deleted so I could restore my system to any arbitrary point in the past.

he probably doesn't know the news about the decision to mix KF5 applications and KDE4

I'm a member since 2009 but recently I noticed membership date is from 2011.
How it happenned? And also the posts are reset.
Do others noticed it or it happened for me only.
Is it a err by the site admin?

Known bug. Follow the instructions at Why has my account spawned a similar identity?.

  • My iphone is suddenly populated by random songs I've downloaded in the past. Why does this happen, and what are apple doing about fixing this?

    Why does this happen?
What do other people do? (I can't go to sleep knowing there's a rogue album or song in my music. It's 2am now)
What do we tell apple so that they actually fix it. None of us want to pay £25 to have our own music.

I am on the monthly payment plan because nobody at BT has told me there is any alternative!
Each year there I have a long, in-depth conversation with the person who sets up the contract for the next year but the gist of the thing is 'I'm  not going to be paying more than [x amount] per month, am I? Because I can't afford any more'' and each year the person says that no, in fact I should be paying less... and then without notice and even with the bill saying 'We will continue to take....' a totally different - and higher - sum disappears from my bank account.
Then I go through the painful process of writing to complain about this, get some sort of sum refunded and then the payments go through at the level they should, with me paying any additional (usually small) amounts for usage over the allowance. Until contract end when we start all over again...
Even if the amount they seem to randomly decide on is based on some sort of forecast, this should not be happening as I am doing what they instruct me to do on the bill to keep my payments the same.
So something is going wrong, on many levels.
At no point have I been offered the sort of 'monthly billing' described here; maybe there is some reason I am not allowed it. Unfortunately 'whole bill' direct debit payment is beyond me. I really need to know what I will be paying each month and I need BT to correctly take that amount, as agreed, each month, from the get-go.
It shouldn't be that hard really! Does anyone from BT read these forums? Can somebody take this on and finally get this straight, please?

  • GCAC - Ledger comparsion, why we do it and what are the key analysis points

    Hi all,
I am currently working on a GCAC check reconciling FI/PCA legers to they are in sync. I just want to know the analysis points for the endusers. If you have any suggestions please reply back to me asap.
I really appriciate your response and cooperation. So many thanks in advance.
If you have any material pls send it to [email protected]
    Thanks again

    Hi
As mentioned above, GCAC is to compare the 2 ledgers - GL ledger (00) and PCA ledger (8A) can also be used.
Comparison between GL and SL doesn't make sense if not all documents are not transferred, or if GL account is altered somehow (maybe by field movement etc..).
But it's a good tool to run periodically to make sure the specified leger contains all necessary data.
    Best regards, Kyoko

"crs_stat -t" , everything is online, however, after a while, database instances, asms or listeners go often offline automatically.
So, I have to use "srvctl start database -d" to start the database, after that, everything is online again.
why is that? Anybody met the same situation before? Did I forget some important parameter?
    thanks

check the crsd and cssd log file .
    also upgrade you clusterware,asm, db_home to 10.2.0.4.

  • Why is Firefox typing and cursor are slow upon a normal startup but everything works well when I restart in safe mode?

When I open FIrefox normally, the cursor movement is very jerky - seems to get stuck on every link. In addition typing in any box is delayed. When I restart with add-ons disabled and in safe mode, the cursor moves fine and typing is normal. I have disabled all my add-ons but that doesn't seem to help as each time I restart, the jerky cursor and delayed typing present again. What is wrong?

Thanks - that seems to have solved the problem

  • Why do bluetooth Trackpad and wired USB drivers conflict 10.6.7

It seems Apple's implementation of Bluetooth Trackpad is incompatible with 3rd party wired mouse drivers, which have been around and continuously developed since OS9 days.  The odd thing is that what breaks is the bluetooth device discovery and pairing process via either the Bluetooth or Trackpad Preference panes. Also bizare is the interaction with wired usb mouse drivers that do not attempt to pair with bluetooth devices.  I could understand the failed cursor control on its own, but bluetooth vs USB at the recognition of device level is a weird failure, as it is kind of like my car failing to drive because I installed after market fluffy seat covers.
I am rue to start a forum on the new Trackpad that I purchased June 2011, tried to implement under 10.6.7 (updated from a 10.6.0 Retail disk), but I've returned it for credit as unfit for purpose, despite 12 hours talking to AppleCare, and about the same searching the community and knowledge base.  I did get it to work after a fashion by retro-installing (via pacifier) much of the bluetooth and bezelservices components from the 10.6.5 combo update.dmg. I had removed all vestiges of third party software: USB Overdrive, Kensington, Logitech and a few others I tried sequentially with multiple clean installs.
This partial solution to initialize the Trackpad although eventually gaining curse control over the Trackpad via the Trackpad pane (broken in every instance of third party software), failed to resolve the additional issues of non smooth Trackpad cursor (even with the eventually found Tackpad update - this is NOT installed automatically via the 10.6.7 Combo Update!!!); and  any use of the Trackpad rendered my wired mice largely unserviceable - both Apple and Logitech. without the Trackpad these mice functioned perfectly - although 3rd party software is necessary to provide sufficient cursor acceleration across my large screen (1920x1080).
Granted third party drivers may use odd implementation methods, but all of them?  Either Apple should provide standardised frameworks and preference panes that can recognise, accept  and utilise industry standard button and scroll axis inputs. I had hoped the advent of the Apple mighty multi-button mouse would give me sufficient control to use the Apple pref pane to assign <command-Click> to my thumb button, and <option-click> to the wheel buton, but unfortunately I had to revert to USB Overdrive to do so. Not even the mighty mouse can accept these basic button assignments.
I am interested to get insight from others - particularly knowledgeable developers -

  • Cannot update: bluez4 and bluez are in conflict

I've had this problem before and someone on freenode helped me, but I don't really recall how to fix this. It happens everytime I upgrade.
    Here's the paste.

A lot of these seem to have to do with desktop environment packages like gnome and mate. I have a bunch of them installed, because I wanted to try them, so I won't really mind if I need to remove them or anything. I'm just not really sure where to proceed. Thanks.

Please search the forum. This topic has been discussed a couple times already.
If you're getting an error message, you may want to search for any [recent] threads that mention it.
