Why do I always have a badge on Messages app?

I just recently updated my phone to iOS 7 and then restored my phone from the backup. As soon as the backup was restored, I had a notification badge on my messages app telling me that I had an unread message, however when I open the app, I have no unread messages. When I open Messages on my MacBook, I also have no unread messages. When I do get a message, the badges stack (so for one unread message, the badge will say "2" even though there's only one). Here's what I tried:
1. Opening and closing all conversations on both my iPhone 5 and MacBook (my only two Apple devices using my iMessage account)
2. Rebooting my phone
3. Hard resetting the messages app, and closing it from the multitask switcher
4. Signing out and deactivating my iMessage account on my MacBook
5. Signing out and signing back into iMessage on my phone
I'm not sure what else to try besides deleting all my conversations or just restoring and starting from scratch, and I don't want to either of those things. I know this was happening in beta, but I feel like that problem would have been addressed by now. What else is there that I can do that might make the incorrect badge go away?

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your update to Yosemite. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. From what you have said, it sounds like it may be an issue either saving or accessing saved passwords, possibly involving Keychain, or an issue with Autofill in Safari. Why do I always have to argue with BT?

Since an engineer visited me on Monday, my noise ration has been gradually creeping up, and my sync speed gradually falling.
Obviously they are both related.
So, I email the MODS and asked for them to lower my noise ratio to 3 up, 3 down, as it has been for years... infact it has been as low as 2, an I have had a perfectly stable connection.
The MODS reply?
The optimum noise margin is 6 dB, typically anything lower than that can cause stability and anything higher than that indicates a noise or instability problem (though a noise margin of 9 dB is still acceptable).
Whilst the sync speed may be somewhat lower than what it was in the past, it is normal for speeds to fluctuate and there's nothing there indicating your speed has decreased due to a fault as your noise margin is good and you have a low number of error seconds and no drop-outs over the last three + days.
I would advise though to keep an eye out for any deterioration in service (i.e. stability/drop-outs) as if the problem returns we can see about getting that checke out further.
I know all of that, Im not stupid!
I also know that a sync speed dropping from 18meg to 14meg is not usual fluctuations in speed, because I know my service, I've had it for 10 years!!!!
Im going to post stats from my previous supplier, then from BT.

May I ask why do I always have "Insufficent Content for Edit" error message when I tried to overwrite or replace a clip ?
Ok,this is what happen:
I have a clip A (4 secs) followed by clip B (4 secs). Then in between I add a video transition.
After a while, I reckon I want to change clip B with another clip (say clip C). So, I went to brower & search for clip C which is 2 mins long clip. To make sure there are enough handles, I went to the centre mark an In point then 4 sec later mark an Out point. So I drag this clips C of 4 secs from the Viewer (I marked the In & Out point in the viewer) to the Overlay canvas & do an Overwrite but it says "Insufficent Content for Edit".
I then tried Replace also got the "Insufficent Content for Edit" error message.
I then tried to delete the video transition and repeat the above for overwrite and replace, both times I got the same error.
Any ideas ?

I have In Point & Out Point marked on the Timeline. I used it when I did FILE > EXPORT and left it there. But once I cleared it, I am able to replace it with another clip.
But I am still puzzled as to why I cannot do any overwrite or replace when there is I/O points marked on the Timeline ? Especially when the section of clips I wanted to overwrite or replaced are located outside of the I/O points ?

IOS 5 Bug: Badges on Messaging app

We have stumbled upon a bug in iOS 5 running on the iPhone 4, in regards to the badges showing up on the Messages App.
You can reproduce this bug yourself.
In Settings>Notifications>Messages, set it to:
Notification Center: On
Show: 5 Recent Items
Alert Style: Alerts
Badge App Icon: On
Show Preview: On
Repeat Alert: Never
View In Lock Screen: On
Now, go to your home screen and have somebody text message you a few times in a row. When each text message comes up as an alert dialog box, click on CLOSE.
So far, so good.
However, when you go to look at your Messages App icon, there are *NO* badges to let you know that you just received 2 or 3 text messages. Furthermore, none of those messages made it into your Notification Center either.
In iOS 4, if you clicked "Close" on a Message Alert, you would still be reminded of the fact that you have text messages waiting, because the badge icon would show you how many messages have come in since the last time you launched the Messages app.
This bug is causing us to forget about all sorts of incoming text messages because we don't have a badge reminder NOR a notification center reminder. The badge icon and the notification center reminders should really ONLY DISAPPEAR once we launch the Messages app.

i tried calling apple about this problem back on ios 5 launch day and i even wrote some guy on infoworld about it. no one even knows what i am talking about or even cares.
im betting on apple made it that way to make the cellular phone companies happy.
im not observing that issue on my ipad, heh

IOS 5 bug with badges on Messages app

There is a major bug in iOS 5 running on the iPhone 4.
We have our incoming text messages set to notify us with an ALERT. When an incoming text message ALERTS us by interrupting our work, we often press the "CLOSE" button on the alert. HOWEVER, after pressing the CLOSE button, the Messages app no longer has a badge on it to let us know that we have unread messages waiting for us to read. The number badge disappears.
This used to work just fine in iOS 4, and we need this fixed so we don't keep forgetting about unread text messages!

What you described is exactly how it worked for me in iOS 4.
If i clicked CLOSE, it assumed I read the message and was done with it.

Why do I always have to re-render and re-connect project?!?

Hoping someone can help me with what I imagine is a pretty basic issue...
Whenever I open my ProRes 422 HQ project, I always see two problems:
(1) I get a warning that 160 audio files need to be reconnected
(2) About 20% of my timeline requires rendering for video and audio
Neither of the above is a problem in and of itself. I simply reconnect the audio files and render out the unrendered timeline sections.
I then SAVE my project and work normally. And of course I SAVE again just before I quit for the day (in addition to frequent auto-saves).
But the next day, when I boot up my Mac and re-open the project, I still see the above two issues! I then have to reconnect media AGAIN and render the same sections AGAIN! Never fails.
How come these changes never get saved? What can I do to ensure that these items get saved? The reconnecting media is not a big deal but the re-rendering takes an hour.
Any input appreciated.

Could be a system/os problem or might be a corrupt sequence or project in fcp.
Simplest thing to do, create a new sequence with the same settings and copy everything from the old sequence to the new.
Still have the same problem? Try copying your sequence to a new project.
As a test, you might try changing your render scratch disk to your startup drive as a test and see if the problem persists.
Make sure your esata card's drivers are up to date.
Are you absolutely positive all clip settings match the sequence settings? Could be a slight difference in audio sampling or someting of the like causing the need to render certain clips. Is it the same clips that always require rendering. Put the playhead on a clip in the sequence that requires rendering and match frame (f) and edit into a new sequence. When fcp asks if you want to match sequence settings to clip, say yes. Does it require rendering? If not, there must be some difference between the clip settings and the original sequence settings.

Why do I always have to download apps from my computer it won't work on phone?

When I try to download apps from my phone it tells me I have to do it from my computer help!

In Creative Suite 6 for MAC--why do I always have to insert my serial number?

Everytime I try Photoshop I have to enter my serial number--not so with the other apps--how can I avoid this? The window says "Your Trial Has Expired" and asks me to join Creative Cloud which I don't want to do! So I click on "License this software" and enter the serial number and go to Photoshop--but every time?????????? PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR MAC SOFTWARE--NOT WINDOWS. I cannot navigate to c:\Program Files X(86)\Common Files\Adobe\AdobePCD as suggested in an earlier reply.

Why do I always have to reboot my apple tv 2 to get it to work?

Every time I turn my apple tv back on I have to reboot it. If I don't, the only options I see are Internet Computers and Settings. Once I reboot it I get the full options. This is really annoying and makes no sense. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you are losing connection to the internet to me, this could be your network settings or interference if you use wifi.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

cant it just keep me signed in all the time? i have the username password stored, but everytime i visit i still have to sign in by clicking.

I have a solution that is guaranteed to work - and I'm using it right now.
1Password is a password manager plus that automatically saves all of your sensitive logins and passwords. I use it for forums like this, banking, and other accounts - online and other. The way it works is like this: when you go to a site that requires a password, 1Password will iniitially ask for your Apple password; after this, your passwords can be entered by going to a relevant site, clicking the 1Password icon, and pressing Enter. It saves a ton of time.
If you've slept your machine, it will ask for your login again. But security with 1Password is very good, and it will work with Safari and Firefox.

Seems to me if you group by all the dimensions and aggregate the measures you shouldn't have dupes?

That's because holding menu & pause won't do anything helpful for your iPod. That's not how you reset the iPod.
If you want to reset your ipod, then you need to hold Menu and Select (center button).

Rendering is required usually when applying effects or when the timeline codec / dimension differs from the clip settings. What are yours?
