Why does Airprint to a HP B110 fail?

My parents-in-law's iPad 2 running iOS 4.something can't Airprint to a supposedly compatible HP B110. Specifically, after connecting the printer to their (Orange Livebox) wireless network and up-dating the printer firmware they managed to print from the iPad once only, and never again. Why, and what is to be done? Others mention similar experiences in other threads but it isn't obvious if there is a solution.

First, get from the the exact model number of the printer and compare it with the list of printers that are airprint ready, just to make sure.  The list is in the link below, and is as of late september.
Second, a lot of the hp airprint printers need a firmware update to work right.  Do you know if they did that step?  Make sure the printer is connected to the router wirelessly, then, from the printers control panel, have it check its software and update.  Do not do it on the computer from the install disk.

Where are you trying to download? My App Store app is working just fine.
First thing to try is a reboot of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Why does a motion control unit constantly fail during config

Why does a drive fail during config.... I am trying to control a machine using faulhaber motors (5 of them) with faulhaber controls, one drive fails during config (fatally fails) and it is not wired any different to any of the others... even with only 24v supply, it dies... Blue screen and restart of pc... the others all worked perfectly, with no fault. The process we are using for the troublesome drive is exactly the same... We are stuck, can anyone please help?

thank you, but faulhaber are all on holiday, and I am really struggling..... tis only one unit and only when it is positioned in one place... checked all electrical connections, no shorts, no loose wires, even fails when just power and serial connected.... so not even motor problem.....

  • Why does iPad say connection to server failed when I am at home and have wi-fi, Why does iPad say connection to server failed when I am at home and have wi-fi

Why does iPad and 4s iPhone say connection to server failed.  I have been getting mail until this started popping up going to beat with sledgehammer

Hi -I was having the above problems on both my ipad and iphone,  and I trawled the internet for hours and hours trying to find a solution to this.....tried  resetting both devices, signing back in to the mail app, and did a full reset of both iphone and ipad., I removed the email account from both devices too.. I knew that the problem occurred after receiving an email- as it happened whilst opening the email- you might not have realised that's what it was at the time?.... I tried deleting the email from both phone and ipad, and hotmail was working fine on a webpage,it was JUST the mail app that was giving the  error messages..... I was receiving the above message and ' cannot send mail- an error occurred while sending this message'  and ' cannot get mail- the connection to the server has failed' then I suddenly realised that even though I had deleted the mail from both ipad and iphone the message was still in trash, so I emptied trash and made sure the mail was completely removed from my hotmail account ANYWHERE and then the problem disappeared.....I think an email I received was maybe corrupt- I hope this at least helps someone and saves you the hassle it caused me!
    Good luck!!

  • Why does iTunes 9.0.0.70 fail to uninstall?

Repro steps below. I've done many upgrades of iTunes without a problem. Why am I getting this error, especially when iTunes.msi exists at the path in the 'Use source:' drop down? I also tried via upgrading with the latest iTunes, same thing.
    //repro
    1) Logon as Administrator
    2) Install iTunes 9.0.0.70 on Windows XP
    3) Open Add/Remove Programs
    4) Press Remove button for iTunes program
    5) Press Yes to confirm uninstall
    6) Uninstall initiates, then throws the following message:

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a
folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi'
    in the box below.
That one typically indicates that the iTunes.msi is damaged. That contains the database of what files/registry-entries/whatnot that your Windows installer requires in order to uninstall your existing version of iTunes, so the uninstall can't go ahead, and so your upgrade can't proceed. So we'll have to uninstall your iTunes by other means prior to being able to do this upgrade.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries, and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp and restart the PC. Now we'll remove any leftover itunes program files and folders.
Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the iTunes folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    Empty your Recycle Bin.
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Why does my Mozilla Support password suddenly fail to work?

I tried to sign in to Mozilla Support to ask a question about Thunderbird that I could find no answer to elsewhere. I was denied. I verified my user name and password from the list I carefully keep on a flash drive and tried again. No go. Then I asked for password reset help, not knowing what else to do.
The e-mail came, but rather than containing password reset instructions, it thanked me for "joining Mozilla Support!" and said that "to complete your registration, you need to verify your e-mail address." Bear in mind that I was not trying to complete any registration but only to log in to an existing account. Nevertheless, I clicked the link and was taken to a verification page. That did not work.
At last, in need of getting on with it without further delay, I simply registered for a new account using a different user name. Fortunately, the system seemed not to be concerned that it used the same e-mail address as before.
So, the specific questions are: (1) Why did this happen, and (2) what does one do to prevent such a thing from occurring again? If it is a matter of signing in at some interval so that the system does not interpret lack of using Support as evidence that the account holder has been kidnapped and carried off by the Klingons, I would appreciate knowing this and what the maximum interval is before doom strikes.
    Thank you.

I begin to understand. Nevertheless, "Mozilla Support" would be understood by an average person with average capacity to include the support of anything Mozilla produces, or so it would seem.

  • Why does my alarm on iPod classic fail to turn on

My iPod classic's alarm fails to activate.  I have reset and even did a factory restore.  The one thing that I notice is that when the iPod is charging and I see the battery icon, the time is also displayed.  The time that shows here is inaccurate.  The time that I set is right.  I think the alarm is governed by the hour that shows up in the battery icon.  Any ideas?  I have not bothered to deal with this until it went out of warranty.  Before the warranty expired, however, I got a support rep who had to call his supervisor to find out where to find the software version.  While I was on hold, I found it myself.  The rep also said he did not know much about the classic.

  • Why does Logic Pro 9.1.8 Fail to respond to Controller Assignments?

I have recently bought the Akai MPD32 and am currently using it with Logic Pro 9.1.8. I spent 2 hours mapping Controller Assignments to various knobs and sliders e.t.c. and they all saved. I backed up the preference files from the Library in case I needed to replace them for some reason. After a few times of closing and opening Logic the assignments no longer work! They are still displayed in the Controller Assignments window but do not respond to the movements I am making on the controller. I have tried replacing the preference files which doesn't seem to work. All my MIDI devices are connected before I start Logic and the MPD32 is on the same preset as when I assigned the controls.
I was hoping someone could help because I was hoping on an easier workflow but it seems impossible at the moment.
    Liam

I backed up all 5 Logic files in the Preferences folder after setting up and assigning the MPD32.
I deleted the files and replaced them with the backups but it still refuses to behave. I had all my midi devices linked to the correct ports and my assignments were under MPD32 Port 1, when the assignments failed the MPD was still in 'port 1'.
This is quite a pain in the backside and I don't want to have to do this multiple times a day.
    Anyone got any other suggestions?

  • OK, guys, why does the free upgrade to Mavericks fail?

I'm pretty sure this has been asked & answered several times.  I waited until now to accept the free upgrade because of the problems mentioned in reviews and here in discussions. It worked on the upgrade download for two and a half hours, then told me it failed. No error message with numbers or anything, just told me to go to app store purchases? I think that's what it said. Any ideas, I didn't have anything running, left the computer on and read a magazine while watching my old TV. Sitting right here at my desk. Are there problems with the anti virus or security things now? It hasn't fussed about anything like that on previous downloads.

    Linda --
Go to the App Store, click on purchases, and see if you can re-download your Mavericks.  I think you should be able to finish or restart the download there.  Turn off any AV/Security stuff.  You don't have FileVault on there, do you?
In your System Preferences > Firewall, make sure it is off. Turn it back on after your download.
Make sure you're not using wireless, and don't pause it at all.

  • Why does time machine show the backup failed

The time machine icon in the menu bar keeps showing up with a "!" in the middle of it, which is suppose to mean the back up failed.
Yet when I go to System Preference, it shows the backup succeeded.
The menu bar shows the last successful back up was on Sept 13.
System Preferences shows the last successful backup was an hour ago.  (15 Sept.)
How do I get these two to agree with each other?
Rebooting the computer doesn't seem to help.
    I'm running 10.9.4 now.

    LonerT:
Thanks for looking at the HomeSharing problem
I have three discussions open that are related.  The first one shows that the ATV appears to open the extra DAAP connections, which in turn appears to be related to Homesharing problem.
    Airport opens multiple DAAP connections
Numerous ATV DAAP ports to MacBook Pro
Cannot turn off Homesharing to AppleTV: IPv6 connections remain
This one (not mine) points at the Bonjour Sleep Proxy Service as being involved in the DAAP problem.
DHCP conflicts between AppleTV and Airport Extreme repeater
And this is the "other side" of the problem, which I have also experienced
Apple TV homesharing keeps dropping out ...
I note that my AppleTV started out with a DHCP address of 10.0.1.16, it jumped to 10.0.1.20 and then migrated up, one address at a time, to 10.0.1.25.
Given the number of systems I have on my subnet, if they are handed out in order, and given that I just moved from 192.168.1.0/24 private space, the highest address should be around 12.
I have two Apple TVs.  One on Wireless remote from the ATX and connected to an Airport Express and one connected via ethernet directly to the AEX.  I don't use the remote one.  It should not have been turned on (activated) for at least two weeks, yet the AEX is still sending out ARP requests for the last IP address that it had and my laptop still associates the AEX MAC with the last address assigned to the remote ATV.
