Why is it that an amplitude-scaled sound does not play louder than the original sound using Play Waveform?
I don't know if I have posted this on a correct location (kinda new here).
I am trying to demonstrate the effect of multiplying a constant to a waveform. I have a sound file read by Sound File Read Simple.vi. Then I am trying to scale the amplitude of the signal by a constant number. I've tried three methods for this: the Numeric Multiplication, the express VI Scaling and Mapping, and the scaling and conversion VI of Signal Express. The waveform shows that the amplitude of the scaled signal is indeed scaled, but when played thru the play waveform VI, the sound level is still the same, no matter how much I am scaling the input. Does anyone why is this so? Also, I really wanted to show that scaling an audio waveform results in a louder waveform. How do I do this? As much as possible, I've wanted to use simple VIs as the class is an introduction to signal processing and the students (and so am I) are still finding our way into LabVIEW (we used to use MATLAB in the course).

That information is for Labview 7.x and hence outdated. As mentioned before. Labview do a normalization before sending data to the sound card. As you know sound cards are most often 16 or 24 bits. And in most cases data input to a sound card is in DBL type. After normalization the data is converted so the floating point value 1 represent full scale output on data sent to the the sound card DA. To get any further I suggest kirkbardini take the time needed to send us his/hers current code. Then we may solve things from there
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original? Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.
There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture: a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made. (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack. A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack. This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick. If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album. Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick". (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.) The change is immediate. The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album. -
I am trying to download photos from my camera to iphoto on my mac book (which I have done many times before). This time I am getting an alert that saysThe photo “IMG_5965.JPG” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. How can I fix this?

My iPhone's sound does not work except for the alarm and the volume bar is not there.

When my iphone 4 is not plugged in to headphones the sound does not work, and if I try to adjust the sound with the plus and minus buttons in the side it comes up like normal saying "Ringer" but then there is no bar underneath it. Sometimes the sound will work for a couple of minutes. However, there is definitely no problem with the speaker as the alarm always works perfectly fine.

No. What he should be doing is syncing his contacts to an app on his computer or cloud service, then sync them back to the phone (without restoring the backup).
Never rely on the backup for contacts. The contact info stored there may be incomplete and is only meant to maintain the recent calls and favorites lists. -

I agree. It's much better than the old one.
If your have a problem with something overheating, that's not normal. You should take the charger, cable and iPad to the nearest Apple Store. Is the charger an Apple charger or a third party one? Many of the third party chargers are badly made. -

I want to point out that the last time I posted this, the discussion was completely blank. This is a repost and hopefully it won't be blank this time
In my most recent short movie, I decided that I would focus a lot more on sound than I normally do, so bought a microphone, a recorder and a boom pole etc. I also decided to implement more sound effects (Bear in mind that I'm 16, not a professional).

Note that at about 0:10 seconds in, you can hear an alarm ringing, but also a sort of 'thump' sound (It's actually the sound of a vault opening/closing). You couldn't hear it normally, so I turned the bass up on it to 17dB. When playing it back in the timeline, it sounds perfectly fine, but when I export the video, much like the attached one, it's muffled and you can't hear the alarm or anything else.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to try and fix it, also that scene takes a while to export so I couldn't quite do any trial and error.
Now however, I'm going to enter the video into a small competition, so I thought I'd try and fix it...because it does sound terrible/unprofessional.
Any suggestions? Remember, it sounds perfect (In my opinion) when playing it back in the timeline. I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.5 on an 11,2 (October 2010) iMac running Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8, it's also being exported to a G-Drive FireWire 800 hard drive, not a RAID, perhaps that could be a problem?"One thing which is realistically within your reach at this time and could really help you on future projects is if you can come up with some sort of beginning, middle and end"
That's one of the problems, people kept saying "Oh, this line's too long..." and shortnening it, and like Jim said "If you can't fire people, you're at their mercy" so I can't exactly deduct pay or anything...because they're not being paid

And tried using the original MP3. It still didn't sound good.
I then tried exporting the sound on its own, with the bass, then imported it, but it still didn't sound as good.
I asked my friend (Who happens to also have the surname 'Curtis') and he said "just sounds to me like you have it so loud that it's clipping" and suggested that I "multitrack" it, basically layer several of them on top of each other, but that didn't work either.
He decided to add the bass in and fix the 'clipping'. It sounded good, but once imported, you could barely hear it, so I thought I'd try putting the bass up to 17dB like before...had the same problem. It seems to only sound nice/fitting with the 17dB bass...am I just going to have to turn it down and live with it? -
Sound does not work correctly all the time, on youtube.
So I have been having this issue for a while now, and I have tried everything to fix it on my own.
My issue is sometimes you-tube videos will play about 1-2 sec of sound then stop, the video will buff all the way out and I can watch it but no sound will come from it. Once it happens if I try to watch another video they will all have no sound, but if i start up itunes it will still play music, so it's not my PC.
Once I close Firefox and reopen it 80% of the time it will play sound on the same video, the other 20% of times it will play 1-2secoinds of sound again and quit playing sound, if I restart fire fox again it will play just fine. Also I do not seem to get this issue with internet explore.
Stuff I have done.
Check for updates for my video/sound cards.
Uninstalled/installed flash 3 times even downloads the Adobe Flash player uninstaller, then reinstalled flash again.
Unchecked enable hardware acceleration, in the Adobe Flash setting.
My setup
Firefox 3.6.13
Windows 7 64bit
ATI HD radeon HD 4350 video card.
I have my PC connected to my TV, sound/video is carried with a HDMI cable from my video card.Did you check the settings for Firefox in the Volume Mixer?

Sound does not sync up with the video and don't know why.
When I converted the video's, the sound and video are perfect, but when I add them to itunes, the sound is off with the video. Anyone know why and how to fix it?

my ipad 3rd gen will not charge while connected to my laptop, just beside the battery meter it states not charging.
Beacause the USB port of most computers don't supply sufficient current to properly charge it. It is best to charge it using the supplied power supply.

please help me set up all the sound specs/preferences both hardware and software wise for logic x on mac book pro...i am unable to hear any audio playback when i record a track...no activity in output channel
itunes can share music over the network without an internet connection, but you will need a computer running itunes powered on to be able to share it (setup in itunes by going to file (windows) or itunes (mac) > preferences > sharing)
if you just want to setup a network attached storage drive for the network that holds all the music that would be done independently of itunes and you would need a compatible NAS drive (I don't believe the airport is technically a nas drive but you could ask that section of support communities as well https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport) -
Why ACPI wakeup file does not list according to the modules i use?
I use a linux kernel that is 99% similar to the default archlinux one at version 3.12.5-1. The only difference is that i removed the inclusion of the xhci_hcd module, so that ehci_hcd takes care of everything.

Do you get an error message when you try to open the file? Do other files open for you?

In AE CS6, the sound does not match with video

I would like to ask a question. I have AE CS6, and I recorded a gameplay video with Avermedia Live Gamer HD. The format of this video is .mp4. When I import the .mp4 into the program, the sound does not match. On the original video, when i play with VLC or WMP, all things are good, and when i import, the sound does not good. What causes this problem, and can I do something to solve this?

Sighhhh, wasted so much time yesterday and today going around Sony centre and then carphone warehouse. They told me to come back after Easter.
I came home, banged the phone against the wall and it worked.
Turned out that mic was working on loud speaker and when using headphones so I thought that the secondary mic is working and the main one (placed with the speakers) isn't. So I banged that part against the wall slightly (in plastic case to prevent scratches) then put the phone underwater, waited for it to dry and now it's working. Idk how well and if it's of perfect quality again but people can hear me well.
