    Maybe in the next version?

  • Metro Apps don't open on Local and Domain account. Works on Microsoft Live account. Windows 8.1 Pro

This is Happening on Three different computers.
All computers are Windows 8.1 Pro. This is a clean install.
When the computer is initially setup, I first sign on with my Windows Live ID and everything seems to work fine there.
After Joining the computer to the domain, none of the Metro UI apps will open, they open briefly and close.
Added a local account and found that it also does not work there.
Steps I have tried to resolve this:
    Modified owner and permissions on registry Key: HKCR\AppID\{3EB3C877-1F16-487C-9050-104DBCD66683}
Changed owner to Local Administrator and gave full controll to Local Admin and Domain user account.
Ran DCOMCNFG and under Computers ->My Computer-> WinInetCacheServer Properties I went to the IDENTITY TAB and changed
    it to the Interactive User.
    That did not help.
    Ran this command: "powershell
-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml" from elevated command prompt and also did not help.
I tried downloading the App troubleshooter but it would not run.
I also tried "wsreset.exe" and got an error saying: " Windows cannot find 'ms-windows-storePurgeCaches'. Make sure you typed the name
    correctly, and then try again"
When Trying to open the app and it fails I get this error under Applications in Event Viewer:
"Activation of app winstore_cw5n1h2txyewy!Windows.Store failed with error: This app does not support the contract specified or is not installed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information."
Anyone know how to resolve this.
We are looking to implement Windows 8.1 Pro to our clients pretty soon and need to get this resolved asap.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Did you mean that this problem only after you join the computer to the domain? if so, you may need to check whether you domain controller would install any program to your system. or you can contact domain adminstrator for further assistance.
In addition, run the following in a Command Window (CMD) to re-register the Store App:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML

  • Why has Apple released such a buggy application as FaceTime?

Just set up my gf's dad's iPad, and his Apple ID was verified. Tried calling him via FaceTime, over the same wifi network (which should NOT be a problem, right?)
No FT calls to or from his iPad would connect, at all.
I have different apple IDs for my Mac Mini, my iPad and my iPhone -- so that I can speak with my Gf when I'm on the road (which is a lot). Well, the iPad can call the iPhone, but not vise-versa; the Mac Mini will make the iPad ring, but no further connection is possible.
I am very disappointed that Apple has released SUCH a crappy product onto the market--- AND they're charging for it on the Mac App store!
    Skype is 1000 times better.

Many years ago, I switeched from AVID Liquid, and have actually never looked back.
Is PrPro perfect? No way, but it is getting better, and better. Does it crash? Actually, I have had two crashes in about 6 years, and at least one of those was pure OE on my part.
Am I a professional? No. I retired in Jan. 2011, but still use the program, and at some fairly high levels.
Now, let's all exhale, step back, and look at things with a freah mind-set.
What are your problems? I know that you are experiencing crashes, but if you could please list your computer's specs. (more is much better), then your Sequence settings, your Assets (Source Footage) and finally, what you are doing, when you get the crashes, we can get started trying to get things sorted out.
Can I promise 100% success? No way, but this is a very good, and helpful forum, and we have a wonderful benefit - we have a strong Adobe presence here.
We will do our best. Actually, Colin (regardless of his kidding) is one of our best, and can help so very much.
Good luck, and please do not give up yet. The "light at the end of the tunnel" is NOT the 4:15PM Express, heading your way.

  • TS4268 What if I don't have the FaceTime and iMessage app?

I don't know how to activate iMessage and FaceTime and I don't have both of the apps

There are no apps for imessage and facetime.  Both are built into the operating system for the phone.  Go to settings/messages to set up imessage and settings/facetime to set up facetime.  Facetime calls are initiated thru the contacts app when you view details for a contact, scroll to the botto and tap on the box containing the word facetime.  Facetime can also be initiated when on a call.

  • Why does Apple say that Numbers can open and save Excel files, when in actuality, it can only open .XLSX files and only Export to Excel (not save-as excel)?

When attempting to open .XLS files in Numbers, the format is not recognized. When the format is .XLSX, the format is recognized. Why is it this way? It's still much more common for folks to have the .XLS file format on their excel files. Why would Numbers not be backwards-compatible?
Additionally, to state in the benefits of this program that one can save to 'Excel' is a little misleading. You can't save to anything except .numbers. Sure, you can export to Excel (with file extension .XLS, I might add), but you can't save or save-as.
Does anyone else see the irony in being able to export to .XLS but not be able to open an .XLS?
There is something to be said for clarity.
You can't expect folks to have Numbers and Excel on their systems, so how else are they supposed to open .XLS files in Numbers?
And I don't need to see another advertisement for NeoOffice or OpenOffice here, thanks. I'd actually like Numbers to be a little more sensible.
    That is all.

When the advertisements were written, there was no Lion so we were able to Save As Excel.
At thiqs time there is no longer Save As command under Lion but the feature is always available.
When your editing task is ended, you are free to use this scheme:
    File > Duplicate
File > Save and in the dialog you will have the option save as Excel.
Numbers isn't and I hope that it will not become an Excel editor.
Its resources contain a flag defining it this way.
I posted several times a script editing this resource.

  • Why does apple not allow iphone to open .rtf word documents

Before you get lost in my post, please remember this.  I simply want to know how to view .rtf word document files from my mac products.  It's vital.  So there you go, please don't get upset at me because of my love/hate relationship with mac products.....
I like my apple products in general, but sometimes it seems as if the apple programmers are so stubborn and are not sympathetic to the actual end user.  There seems to be an unnecessary PC vs Mac mindset.  There needs to be a customer mindset.
People like me have problems seeing certain .rtf word documents that are created at work with a PC, emailed out to the emplyees, and then only those that use non-apple smartphones and computers are able to actually see the original / very important word document.  I (a mac user) am one of those people who gets ostracized because I use an iPhone and Macbook Pro.  Case in point:
My work prints out the next days schedule in a .rtf word document format.  It's usually an attachment.
When I try to view it with the iPhone (the worlds most popular "smart" phone), it can't see this common and very popular file type used by businesses and government employees.  It says "An error occured while reading the document".  Wonderful...I guess I have to call my buddy with a blackberry.
When I try to view the common file with my $1,200 MacBook Pro, it doesn't know how to open up this .rtf file by default.  I have to select "Open it with: Preview, or Text Edit".  Then, a useless downloads box remains up after the computer has finished downloading...and then it sends the file to an inconvinient destination...somewhere that I have to then go on a hunt for by using the "today" option in finder.  I use the word "useless" because these download windows are always empty and instead of being useful (by actually containing the file that I just clicked to open), it then requires you to go for a time wasting/frustrating hunt.  How hard would that be?  Actually making the experience user friendly?  You tell the computer to download a file, it downloads it, and then shows the file to you in that window? Preposterous!  (sorry, I'm not trying to sound pompous...I'm just frustrated)
Anyway, sometimes the computer will attempt to translate it (a schedule with peoples names, times, and it's contained within boxes that resemble an excel spreadsheet), but everything winds up all messed up and jumbled.  Instead of reading the .rtf word file...macs resort to a lackluster attempt to translate it for you.
Maybe I am not seeing things correctly.  I don't know.  I'm just a common man.  I do know this though.  The programmers need to listen to the people and not be different just for the sake of being different.
How do I get my iphone and macbook to open up a .rtf file as soon as I select it??? I want it to behave like a PC does with respect to being user friendly and logical.  (I don't want to have to save it on a thumbdrive, go to a second computer while jumping on one leg, upload the file, brew a cup of coffee while I wait, translate it, and then send it back to my iphone so that I can view it....I'm only partly joking here)
Thanks for the help in advance.

My iPhone won't view them at all...yet.  I'm hoping that I can figure it out.
Well when I use pages to open the file on my macbook, it opens up an incorrect interpretation.  Things are mis-aligned.  Think of columns and rows.  If the original document had A1 defined as John Doe and A2 defined as a time of 10:30, then Pages in my Macbook may translate it as A1 - John Doe, A2 - blank, B1 - blank, B2 - 10:30.  The lines that are used to outline boxes wind up different lengths and thicknesses as well.
    For example:
PC word doc (original)                                                  Mac (translation)
    John Doe  |  10:30                                              John Doe     |
                                                                                                        _______ 10:30
Above is a simple interpretation, but I hope that it sort of gives you a visual representation of what I'm seeing (if I see anything at all).  Things appear in the wrong places and a one page document turns into 3-4 pages of incorrect "fluff" if you know what I mean.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch one of the problem apps. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • Why is Apple charging for a minor update to FaceTime?

I noticed, through an article in MacNN, that there is an update to FaceTime avaiable - but the update seems to only be available through the AppleStore and Apple wants $0.99 for what they term as a minor update of benefit to SNow Leopard users. Bug fixes should be free.

Get used to it! Seriously, if you don't want to you don't have to pay for it, and right now you don't need to. The touch is not the iPhone. This seemingly obvious observation appears to have been missed by some. You must have access to the internet via Wi Fi (either at home or at a hotspot). So all those pretty icons of maps, weather, stocks are dead in the water unless you are connected (unlike the iPhone people who are always connected). If you really want a screen full of icons just set up an iTapPad page (see webapps) and then you can have up to 10 pages of icons chock full of webapps that you can access for free once connected to the internet, including maps, weather, and a Notes look-alike.
Resident apps, those that sit on your touch and don't require a Wi Fi connection to function, will come from developers and some will possibly be free, but expect to pay for most. They will probably be downloaded through iTunes, and Apple will probably want a slice of the pie (pun intended) for the service.

  • Why do I need a password to open some documents and were must I get it

Where  do we find these password and how do we create them

    Hi,
You are prompted to enter the password in some of the pdf files while you are trying to open them in Adobe Reade is due to the fact that they are password protected/encrypted.
You can get the password of these pdf files from their creators.

  • Why does Apple support not have the manual for iPad and iOS5 available?  The manual on the site has none of the new features.

Has anyone else noticed that the manual has none of the new features, for example iCloud in it?  The iPhone iOS5 manual is correct.
