  • TS1363 ipod is not being detected

my ipod is not being reconized when connected to my computer and i cannot download my music on to it!

    I did it!
XP wanted drivers for the iPod, and I used the method in this doc with one exception:
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
...when the wizard came up and asked to look for the driver, I clicked "Search for the best driver in these locations" except instead of windows/inf I went to system32/drivers and found a subfolder with USBAAPL.SYS [the driver name] in the title... it was a hidden folder so you'll have to have them visible to see it. Using that as the target for the search picked it up immediately and then everything was as before.

  • PLEASE HELP! My iPod is not being detected on iTunes!

I know everyone is posting about this, but nothing seems to be working. I've done tons of research and tried it all!
Here's the story: My 1st iPod has been using the firmware 1.1.1, until I recently decided to update it. It was updated to 1.1.5, and the moment iTunes was restarted, it could no longer be detected by iTunes! My iPod has been working fine before the update, so it can't be the iPod itself. I've listed below all the things I've tried! The iPod DOES appear in My Computer, but NOT in iTunes (using iTunes 8, but I have tried uninstalling and reintalling different versions)
Things I've tried and haven't worked:
    - Restarting the computer and iPod
    - Resetting the iPod by holding the Home and Sleep button
    - Uninstall/Reinstall iTunes (several times, on different versions)

    - iPod not recognized on laptop article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1401
    - Starting/Stopping the iPod Service and Apple Mobile device
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling the device in Device Manager
    - Plugging into different USB ports (they were fully functional before firmware update)
    - Plugging into a different computer (where it was also not detected on iTunes)
I believe my problem is maybe that I need to reinstall the firmware, but I can't do this without it being detected on iTunes! Any ideas???
I really hope someone out there can help me! I am so frustrated and stuck with this problem and have been going around in circles! Thanks so much for ANYONE's help!

  • My ipod is not being detected on my dell latitude620

I just got a dell latitude 620 laptop
My ipod is being detected as a "device"
My ipod will charge, but itunes does not recognize it.
I've uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it twice.
And tried about 90% of what apple support suggests
There is nothing wrong with the laptop.
    Please help
    - manic mass

Click the Start Menu, right->click on Computer and choose Manage.  When the when comes up, make sure you click on the Device Manager in the left hand pane of iTunes.
Is your iPod listed as unknown or anywhere under the USB section?  If you do find it, try right->clicking on it and choose Update driver or uninstall. Then unplug the iPod for a few sections and then plug it back in.

  • Ipod is not being detected on itunes or windows

I've tried everything like reseting my ipod, the five r's and it still not picking up on the computer. *_HELP PLEASE_*

  • Refurbished iPod Mini not being detected.

So last week I bought a refurbished iPod from the Apple website here. It came in today. All my stuff is up to date and I know my USB ports work fine on my Mac, but I can't get my iPod to show up on my comp.
I've tried everything on the website save for trying a new cable.
Does my iPod need to be completely charged?
Do I need to see about a new cable even though this is the one that was in the box?
Do I need to visit the Apple store down the road?
I'm a bit frustrated since I just bought this thing.

The iPod shouldn't have to be fully charged in order to be recognized by your Mac. Even though your USB cable appears to be charging your iPod, there's something going on with either the cable or the iPod if your iPod is not showing a Do Not Disconnect screen when it is attached to your computer. You might want to consider taking your iPod to your local Apple store and seeing if it will recognize on their computers. If it does, it's likely not a problem with your iPod (or your Mac) but with the cable. If that's the case, the cable is covered by your warranty and Apple will replace it for you free of charge. If the iPod is not recognized on their computers, with their cables, it could be a problem with the iPod itself, and they'll be able to help you out with that.
If you do take the iPod to an Apple store, you have to go on the store's website and make an appointment on the same day that you want the appointment for. You can do that here:
    http://www.apple.com/retail
I wish there was more information I could give you, but it does sound like a hardware problem. There isn't much you can do with the iPod on your Mac if it's not even appearing on the desktop. Either way, your iPod and the accessories that come with it is covered by your 1 year warranty, so Apple will take care of it for you.
    Best of luck

  • Why my ipod can not be detected in wimdows 8.1

I received this message when I connect my ipod to my computer.....An ipod has been detected but it could not be identified. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipod. I have uninstalled itunes-reinstalled and tried other advice from apple website, but nothing works. Windows 8.1 64bit. What esle can I do to try to resolve this problem? I have the latest version of itunes. This problem just recently started.

    THANK YOU, Kayliababy94!
I have been messing around with this ridiculous problem for HOURS, doing all the excruciating steps listed on the Apple "help" pages, and I didn't get anywhere until I uninstalled all the Apple files like you suggested.
Honestly, would it kill someone in the Apple tech support department to add your suggestion to the top of the troubleshooting list?  I'm mad I had to come to the "regular people" forums to get any assistance that actually helped!
Anyway, I "liked" your solution, and I hope it helps others as much as it helped me!

  • (Another) iPod nano not being detected by iTunes

My replacement 4GB nano is not recognized by iTunes (I have the latest version 6.0.5). It is recognized in My Computer (D:); however, when I try to run iPod Updater (either 3-23-06 version or 6-28-06 one) I either get an iPod service error msg, an iPod internal manager error or it hangs and does nothing while trying to initialize. iPod Service is running and I've also reinstalled the COM I/F for iPod Service. I've disabled the 'switch user' feature (running XP). Could connecting my iPod before loading the later Updater software caused this?
    Any suggestions?

O WOW! i had this same problem and i had to call the apple store and was on the phone for 30 minutes while they helped me alot! what you have to do is reformat your drive! so you are going to go to start and on my computers you are going to right click and then hit manage!ok now you are going to have to find where your ipods format is and make sure it says healthy! i dont remember what to do next but if someone remembers help me finish! now your ipod isnt broken so dont freak because i had this same thing! but if you need help call 1800apple and they are so nice and will help you!! and then you might want to post better instructions because this happeneed a week ago and i forgot how to do it~~

  • My Ipod Nano 5th generation is not being detected by Widows and Itunes. I have tried everything based on the trouble shooting tips outlined. Has anyone had this situation before? How was it resolved. My Ipod is just out of warrenty

Have done all trouble shooting tech a through Apples and still have not resolved issues on Windows and itunes not detecting my Ipod  nano 5th generation device. Tried restoring the device manually using disk mode and still not being detected by the computer. Device is our of warenty as when service repair charges are $125.00 dolars more than I paid for this device. There must be some way to restore the entire device to factor settings without having to be connected to itunes and Windows. I wish I could connect but again device is not being read. I have another Ipod that is 8GB instaed of 16GB and it works fine. The sad thing about this situation is that my 9year old daughter worked hard doing delivering fliers for a long time to save her money to buy this 16 GB 5th generation Nano. Otherwise the Ipod works well but will not syncronize songs as it is not being detected. Maybe this is a result of corrupt files that got onto my daughters Ipod somehow and thus causing it not the be detwected through the USB connection thus as a result not be understoud as a working device through Windows and itunes. If anyone can help me out there including itune techs that would be well appreciated, but for now my daughter is not able to add new or delete any songs on her ipod as well pictures, and everything. Thanks

Try changing the cord. I could NOT get my computer to recognize my iPod 5th Gen until I read somewhere that different apple devices use different cords. I was inadvertently using my iPad cord and that caused my computer to not recognize my ipod.

  • Ipod 4g 32G not turning on, not charging (on multiple cords, both comp and wall, 4 20min), not being detected by Itunes or Windows 7 64bit OS, will not reset, tried taking it out of "DFU", NO DMG, Itunes up2date, All I'm getting is a blank black scrn

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod touch 5th generation had white screened an it won't let me rest it by holding down the home button an the power button for ten seconds I've pulled it in to iTunes an its not being detected what can i do as its starting to over heat?

my iPod touch 5th generation had white screened an it won't let me rest it by holding down the home button an the power button for ten seconds I've pulled it in to iTunes an its not being detected what can i do as its starting to over heat?

If you can't get it to shut down or restart when holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and you can't get it recognized in iTunes to restore it, the iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to go to Apple for service. Someone else here may have additional suggestions, though.
There is no "fifth generation" iPod touch, by the way, just for the sake of clarity; not yet, anyway.
    Regards.

  • IPhone 6 and iPod Touch 5 not being detected by iTunes 12

iPod 5 and iPhone 6 is not being detected after I downloaded iTunes 12.1.2
Tried changing the lightning conductor, that didn't help either.
Re-installed iTunes but it was of no use. :/

See iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
