Why Template, request and operation level approval from 11g?

Hi All,
I''m very new to OIM 11g and could not understand the logic behind having three categories of approval workflow, sucn as Template, operational and request level approvals? In 10 g, on the contrary, we can achieve multiple level approval using one approval process against a resource object. Having said that, i think we can also achieve a multi level approval in one BPEL process using the serial or parallel type of approval. So, a single approval process, say request level approval process can be configured to catered to multiple level of approvals. If this is the case, i could not figure out the reason behind the availability of 2 further categories template and request level approval. Can anyone please shed light on the actual usage with a context and also render reference to a 10 g functionality for these approval categories.
Thanks,
Srini

Request Level & Operation Level :
Re: Difference requestlevel and operational level
Template Level : It is also same as Request Level where you can reject the complete request in one shot. In latest version of OIM i.e. OIM 11g R2, you won't find this Approval Level.

  • Header and item level approval using N level BADI

    Hi Experts,
I beleive we can use either header level or item level approval workflow (WS14000133 and WS14500015) using N Approval-BADI. Please advise what information approval will be able to see if we will be using WS14000133 (Header level approval). Can he see all line item information or header level only.
    Regards,
    Kamal

In SRM the same BADI is used for SC, PO, Invoice and others as well..  If you see the example implementation provided by SAP, you can see the use of CASE statement with different Business Objects and code under it.
Irrespective of the Header level or Item level approval workflow the same BADI has to be implemented.
The difference between Header and Item Level approval is
    1) In Header level, approval or rejection is done for the whole cart (there can be 1 item or multiple items).
Approver will be able to see all the items in the cart.
    2) In Item level, approval or rejection is done for each and every line item. here is an example ---
Line item 1 has Cost Center as Account Assignment Category and has to be approved by Users A and B.
Line item 2 has Internal Order as Account Assignment Category and has to be approved by Users C and D.
Item 1 goes to user A and once approved, it goes to B.  they will not be able to approve or reject item 2. but we can restrict user A and B to see item 2 or not by setting a flag..
Item 2 goes to user C and once approved, it goes to D.  they will not be able to approve or reject item 1. but we can restrict user C and D to see item 1 or not by setting a flag..
The SC will get released only after all the items are approved.
For Header Level approval, you need to fill the APPROVAL_TABLE.
For Item Level approval, you need to make use of APPROVAL_TABLE, ITEM_APPROVAL_TABLE and ITEM_APPROVAL_OBJ.
Examples provided by SAP might give you an idea how to code for Header and Item Level.
Hope this gives you some information .....
    Regards,
    PR.

  • In Numbers, can I highlight/colour differently to show high and low level requirements from the Y Axis?

I have a line graph in Numbers 09, but would like to either fill the chart between two points on the Y axis which shows the upper and lower limits of a set of results. Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to select the two points I want and end up with the Grid lines being all the same colours when I select colour or the Chart fill is all or nothing!
    Thanks

I have done it both ways, the way you have suggested, the drawing of two lines for Upper and Lower limits and a combination of the two. They are all working fine. As you say, with use, I'll find other things that can be done with it, certainly from an aesthetic point of view.
    Many thanks

  • KANBAN and Operation level confirmations

We are planning to use the SAP KANBAN. Our company uses SAP 4.7.
Currently they have visual KANBANs opearting in the factory.
We plan to use KANBAN with Production Order strategy. The problem is that ,  we have multiple opeartions within one KANBAN cycle.  And question is,  can we use SAP KANBAN with milestone confirmations? So that if KANBAN cart moves from one opeartion to another, opeartor can scan the barcode  or by some other means can confirm  that opeation  as a part of KANBAN and then  with final confirmation posts the goods receipt of finished product.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Mankai,
    1) std SAP KANBAN on a status change do the final confirmation of the production order?
    Answer
Yes, when you change the KANBAN status from Empty--> Full, then production order confirmation and GR against the production done automatically.
    2)  when status is changed from inprocess to complete, can SAP do the confirmation of the production order?
    Answer:
When you made KANBAN bin Empty, then system triggers planned /production order. When you start actual manufacturing
activity then scan the bar code and change the bin status from Empty --> Inprocess.
So when you see the kanban board you can visualize the what are the production order execution activity are actually started.
after completing the manufacturing activity then scan the bar code and change the bin status from Inprocess --> Full, then  system will do the confirmation of production order and GR done automatically.
First you define the status as Empty --> Inprocess --> Full.

  • Why the drag and drop of clips from events browser to project browser isn't working any more

My iMovie was working fine, but suddenly I'm not able any more to drag and drop select parts of a clip from event browser to the project browser. I read other people got this issue. Is there a solution? Thanks a lot

  • Assign role request through code not going to Operational level

    Hi All
We are trying to assign roles through code using the OIM API's as suggested in the documentation
    "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/doc.1112/e28183/oim_up.htm#autoId40".
We have 2 Approval policies one is at Request Level (i.e. Auto Approval) and the other is Operational level(Scope=ALL Scope) with workflow, So once the request is getting raised with the code successfully it is getting completed. The expected behavior is that it should go to the approval workflow attached at operational level.
When we tried to attach a workflow at the request level, the request is going through Approval workflow attached at request level and once we approve at request level it is getting completed and not going to operational level.
But we will have Request level as auto approved and Operational level with two level of Workflow.
    Thanks in Advance

Check whether you have configured Request Type in your approval policy properly for operational level approval. In the Rule Components section check whether you have configured everything correctly. Also dont raise the request from system admin login as it will be treated as a direct provisioning request and your approval policies will not be invoked. Login through an end-user and test it

  • Reminder email notification and task assignment notification from humantask

    Hi All ,
We have developed a 3 level approval SOA composite which sends the 1st level approval to a Manager and once Manager approves the request, the approval task is assigned to a 2nd level approver role(Group) for approval and after the approval from 2nd level approver group , the approval task is assigned to a 3rd level approver group .
After the request is submitted and the task is assigned to Manager for approval. Manager receives a task assignment notification (defined in the notification tab of the .task) and a reminder notification is fired after X hours of the task assignment. The issue is, the assignment notification and reminder notification are same, is it possible to send different notification on task assignment and a different notification on reminder.
Appreciate your help on this !
    Thanks
    suren

The default email solutions in planning are using workflow or task lists, though the task lists are based on due dates.
If you wanted a solution where an email is sent out when a task list is complete, then one route could be to have a business rule attached to a task list and then the business rule uses a custom CDF to send out email notication.
If you are interested in sending emails from business rules then I did write a blog on the subject a while back.
    Cheers

  • Cannot attach documents at order operation level in PM order.

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded to EHP6 and I have activated the EAM business functions including LOG_EAM_CI_6. In my PM work order, on the Additional Data tab, I can see the "Document Assignment" section at the bottom. Here I attach an existing document and choose Assign to Order. Then I attach another existing document and choose Assign to Operation (0010). After saving the order if I go back into it (IW32/IW33). the document assigned to order header is still there but the document attached to the operation disappears.
I have defined the document type that I am assigning at header level and operation level in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Document Management --> Control Data --> Define Document Types. I have also specified in Customizing that the assignment to objects PMAUFK (order) and/or PMAFVC (operation) is allowed for the document type of those documents.
Can someone please advise what's wrong here ? I have to attach/assign docs to operations.
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    Hi Sandy
Can you please make sure two things:
    1) IMG --> DMS --> Control Data --> Define Document Types --> Select Doc Type ---> Define Object Links. It must be something similar to this one. Without entering CREATE DOCUMENT settings, you may not be allowed to attach a document. That might be causing the issue. If you do not want from within IW31, someone is creating documents then make sure this setting has value =2.
One more possible reason for this is 1:n field in this same setting. If 1:n is not selected, please read the help for that field and make sure the uniqueness of your document attachment to objects.
    2) IMG --> DMS --> Control Data --> Maintain Screen for Object Link
For this one make sure that you have a screen entry for PMAUFK and PMAFVC.
Now if attachment does not work, try creating a document and let us know what is the error message.
And do you know that there is another way of attaching documents to the operation which is attaching them as PRT. Just select the operation, click on PRT button and select document and attach it.
    I hope this will help.

  • User as two level approver

    Hello all,
I have a problem where user is holds first and second level approval position in hierarchy. Shopping cart with two step approval (WS10000031). Starting condition is that user do not belongs to approver group.
    Example:
    ORG1 - approver USER1
    subordinates of ORG1
    ORG2 - approver USER1, requestor EMP1
    ORG2 - approver USER2, requestor EMP2
    Case1:
    requestor is EMP2 approvers are:
    frist step USER2
    second step USER1
    Case2:
requestor is EMP1 approvers should be:
    first step USER1
    second step USER1 (again).
Of course workflow cannot set USER1 as second step approver in case2.
How this can be achieved, or is there any other solution (i.e. change in starting conditions)
    TIA
    Gordan

    Hello Pierre,
I am aware of limitations in note 683782, and this is not possible if you are trying to do it manually. But I made it possible via ALE with HR. I do not know if this is bug or feature in the system :o))).
In HR it is possible that user belongs to several positions (based on percentage) and this is correctly transferred to SRM 4.0 (EBP 5.0).
I can even post a picture somewhere if you would like to see or mail it to you. :o)))
We are starting with HR integration which will send positions and users with infotype 0105/0001 to create BPs and EBP users.
For now, with manual org structure, we are using copied users as forwarding agents, but after integration start this will not be possible anymore because all of the settings coming from HR to SRM.

  • Workflow not move to next level approver...

    Hi Friends,
I have developed workflow for appraisal. Employee enter his appraisal ratings and submit  and then first, second, third level approvers enter their ratings one after another submit.
whenever one level approver submit,i have updated th status in our customized table and pass the status to workflow method through Set Parameter command. For example ,when employee enter his rating and once submit, i have update the status field in table with value 'Pending with First Approver' and pass the status 'pending with first approver' through Set Parameter command to workflow method. In workflow methods , I receive status value using Get Parameter command and based on tht value respective workflow item will moved to inbox of First level approver.
Its working fine. But  SOME TIMES status updated in table properly and workflow item keep retain in same level inbox even after submit successfully, instead of move to next level approer.
For example, once employee submit his appraisal rating, status 'pending with first level approver' updated in table properly. But workflow item still keep retain in employee inbox only and first level approver do not receive workflow item in his inbox.  I  tried to refresh that variable which i used in set parameter/get parameter command . but same proble continue.Could you please suggest me what will be reason for this issue?. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Hockteck..

    Hi Rick,
Thanks for your response. I am using Z table for reporting purpose. In Z table I update status like 'pending with employee','pending with first approver',etc. If the end users wants to know the status of apprisal for a particular employee, they can use this report and react according to the updated status.
I have mentioned in this thread about  both this Z table update and pass status using set parameter id, because both these statment executed after employee or approvers submit. But Z table updated successfully and set parameter not passed successfully.
In my workflow I am using Loop step and this loop will continue to run  till the status become 'Completed'. when third level approver submit his appraisal details that time i pass the status 'Completed' to complete the workflow .For employee, first and second level approvers I pass the status like 'Pending with Employee','Pending with First','Pending with Second'.
Whenever I pass the status to workflow, using Function Module i find the next level approver based on the status. For example If the status is 'Pending with First' then in the function module I find the first level approver and pass his UserId as current agent name. Whenever this issue happen I debug and check the current agent id . But it shows only Employee ID.If the status 'Pending with First' passed to workflow properly then FM could have pass the First level approver ID. But since current agent id shows Employee Id, workflow keep exist in Employee inbox ,even after he submit successfully.
If 10 employees submit his apprisal ratings, for one or two employees this issue happen and for rest of the emplyess workflow completed successfully with all  approvers submissions. Any suggestions?.
    Regards,
    Hockteck.

  • Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original location - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.

You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them.
