Wifi printer is no longer being found by my mac

I have a 2 office business...  Both offices are sharing an epson wifi printer.   Both computers where printing fine over the wifi, and then this week neither mac can discover the printer.   Ive checked the printer and it is connected correctly to the same WIFI.  Ive reset the printer's network to default and reconnected it to the correct wifi again, and still neither Mac can discover the printer..
Please help

Does the printer work when connected via USB? You would have to create a new print queue to test.

  • HP Printer can no longer be found wirelessly by Mac and iOS devices?

I have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw printer which has been successfully connected wirelessly for quite some time. I recently replaced an older Time Capsule (flat square) with one of the new tower-looking Time Capsules, and the same replacement for an Airport Express I use as an access point. Again this is all the same setup as previously.
The issue is none of the devices can find the printer wirelessly anymore, despite the fact that the printer reports it's on the network and operating fine, and I can see the printer in the Printers & Scanners/Add window. I have attempted downloading and reinstalling the software from HP, deleting old printers in the Preferences panel and reinstalling from there, and nothing has worked. If I try to re-add the printer using the Bonjour Multifunction entry and AirPrint as the driver, it gets as far as the "Setting up the device" progress dialog and then fails with an error that reads: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."
I have tried setting up an IP reservation for the printer and using the IP setup in the Add window (instead of the default); with and without the HP Jetdirect protocol; using the AirPrint driver and the selected HP series driver -- no success with any choice.
So far my only workaround is connecting it by USB to the nearest Mac and sharing it on the network using Printer Sharing. This is not the ideal solution, of course, since it means my iOS devices still can't find it and the Mac needs to be turned on 24/7 to share out the printer. I bought this printer originally specifically for its AirPrint capability so I could print to it from iPads and iPhones as well as my Macs. Currently I can't print from any iOS devices so it's rather painful.
Any suggestions to get this fixed will be much appreciated

Reset the TC to factory and start again..
New names.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    eg TCgen5 base station name.
I also strongly recommend using different names for the bands when things go wrong. TC24ghz and TC5ghz.
Use WPA2 personal security with a short pure alphanumeric password.. (short meaning 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers)
Redo the setup of the Express based on the new setup.
Redo the connection of the printer to the wireless network.
Test the printer by pinging it from the computer.
Delete all drivers in the computer for the printer.. and start over.
That generally will get it running.
If not use the old TC as a wireless AP for printer connection .. by doing extend wireless with it and placing it near the printer.

  • Purchases made on my ipod touch are no longer being transferred to the Mac...but yet they are showing up in "grey" in the purchased list on the Mac.  Any clues as to what is going on?

What used to work just fine, is no longer working...
Within the last 2 days, song purchases that were made on my ipod Touch are no longer being transferred when the ipod synchs up.  The strange thing is that the songs appear in iTunes --> Store -- Purchased list, but are greyed out.  They play just fine on the ipod...but aren't making it back to the Mac.
I have tried right clicking on the ipod when it appears in iTunes and selecting "Transfer purchases", but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any clues as to what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Tim

One other very important piece of information I forgot to include...the purchases were made prior the iOS update.  So the sequence of events went like this:
    1) ipod Touch with previous iOS (4.0 I think)
    2) purchases made
    3) ipod connected and iTunes prompts for iOS update
    4) iOS upgraded to 5.0
    5) Now the purchases seem to be stranded on the ipod Touch
    Thanks!

  • My iPhone 3G is no longer being "found" by iTunes - please help

I am an advanced user, so this makes it even more baffling.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) and I have the iPhone 3G (OS 4.1)running with iTunes 10.0.1 (x64). I have also now updated to the latest iTunes 10.1 but I am still having the same problem.
The issue bellow suddenly started about a week: For some reason, when I plug-in my iPhone, it is no longer recognized by iTunes. I have "removed" and "re-installed" iTunes (re-downloaded too) but to no avail.
I have tried plugging in my wife's iPod Touch into the same exact machine (my computer) and the same USB cable was used and her iPod Touch was found with no problems. I then go and plug in my iPhone (using the same USB cable) into her old Windows XP laptop and it is found without any problems. I have tried using her cable on my machine, but same problem persists. When I plug-in my iPhone, iTunes just locks-up. As soon as I remove the phone, iTunes unlocks itself.
One other thing that might be of help to someone to diagnose my problem: When I plug in my iPhone, I get the USB "found sound" via Windows 7 and then it is repeated about 10 seconds later.
Also I have noticed is that my iPhone is found by Windows 7 without any problems because I am able to see it and access it (the photos) via Windows Explorer. Also, as soon as my iPhone is plugged in, it recharges just fine.
What could be wrong? I only need to access iTunes so I can sync/backup/update the phone.
Please help with any and all suggestions.

Yesterday evening, I was finally in contact with Apple, and to make the long story short, they seem to have "fixed" the problem. It's complicated to write it all here, but I will try. The problem was that the somehow my updated Apple Device USB driver was not correctly installed!
    So try this:
REMOVE exactly as it tells you here (in that particular order):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US
Reboot and then make sure all is gone as the way it tells you on the previous link I wrote above.
Create a new Windows 7 USER ACCOUNT with Administrative power. Call it anything you want, but for now, I will call it MIKE
    Reboot machine.
Login as the newly created user account (MIKE).
Re-install the X64 iTunes version. You don't need to reboot or start up iTunes.
    PLUG IN the iPhone.
Then go to Control Panel / System / Device manager. Look under Porttable devices and you should find Apply iPhone. Click on the driver version. It should say 6.1.7600.16385 (Date 6/21/2006). Close that top window. Now con to the Universal Serial Bus controllers under System. When you open that, you should see the first one listed as: Apple Mobile Device USB driver. Select it. Then go to driver. If it does not say that it is: 6.0.9999.52 (dated 9/16/2010), you have the same issue that I had.
You must then select UPDATE driver / Browse my computer and then you need to point to a directory called:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    or it may be inside:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
What you will need to have is the file called: usbaapl64.sys
That is the file that was never used by my computer, and therefore, caused this non-finding of iPhone in iTunes.
I won't go into the full details, but it seems that somehow during one of the iTunes installations or updates, the file did not get placed in the right directory and somehow some bad data got written into the registry and therefore it never was installed during the future iTunes installations / updates. Although it seems like Apple guys helped me with my problem, I still have not heard a logical explanation of why it happened in the first place. My computer is 4 weeks old and was built and clean-installed from scratch. Everything worked for 3 days and then suddenly it just stopped.
After you are done with this, try starting iTunes with your phone plugged in (doesn't matter if you plug it in later). Hopefully you will see your iPhone!
If all is okay, exit iTunes and LOGOFF the the user (MIKE) that you just created.
Switch back to your real user. Then go and DELETE completely (all files, settings options on) the temporary user (MIKE) you created.
Restart the computer and hopefully, when you start-up your iTunes and plug in your iPhone, you will again see your iPhone.
I hope this helps you! Please let me know.

  • TS3147 My printer was no longer being detected, so I uninstalled it and when I went to reinstall it I discovered that I no longer have a printer pop up menu to select my printer.

I had a power failure and then began getting a message that the printer (Canon Pixma 610) was not detected. So, I unplugged it from the computer, restarted the computer and no change. The printer was still showing as the default printer, but not being detected. So I deleted the printer and then tried to reinstall it. However, when I clicked on the + sign to reinstall nothing came up. The screen was blank with no printer choices. I went to the Canon website to try and download the driver and received this message: There is no driver for the OS Version you selected. The driver may be included in your OS or you may not need a driver. I would appreciate any help...

    MSG2014 wrote:
I finally contacted Canon and they informed me that my printer is not compatible with Maverick
As Greg stated, the Canon support person is simply referring to what they see on the web and knosw nothing about Mac's. The reality is that the v10.8 driver will work on 10.9. You just may need to get past Gatekeeper to install it. So here is a link to the v10.8 driver. If you get a message stating that the driver is not signed and cannot be installed, then this is Gatekeeper blocking it. So to install it, right click (or Control-click) on the installer and select Open from the pop-up menu. Now you will have the option to install.
The second issue is the printer not appearing in the Add printer window. The USB cable is often the cause as suggested already. Also USB hubs can be a cause. To check if the Mac can see the printer, open System Information and select USB in the left column. The top right pane will show all the USB busses in your Mac. The MP610 should be listed under one of these busses. If it is not present, then try another USB cable and/or another USB port on the Mac. Until you see the MP610 in this view, you will not be able to add the printer.

  • Wifi keeps dropping or not being found

Just switched to VZ and got smartphones, Apple i4s.
I have been at home, work and my friends house with my new phone, connected to networks and then disconnected..
When I go to the Wifi setting, and search for networks, sometimes nothing shows up (the circle thing moves, then nothing is there, no networks)  Then I will try it again  over and over and it may or may not find the network.  (FYI)  I do have an itouch which always works fine and finds all the networks and connects automatically (home, work or friends).
If it does find the network, it will connect.  Then the network will disappear and I will be on 3G.  I go into setting to search  networks and nothing is there and sometimes it will show the network.
A friend said it is an ongoing with Verizon and mentioned something about  a booster.  I don't want to go buy something to 'boost' it.  My other friend has ATT and she doesn't have these issues.
Because I have not had it for even a week, I would like to know what I can do aside from switch service providers.
I called customer service from my friends house while I was there (she lives a distance from me), to find out if it was something wrong that I have done, because her network did not show up.  It appeared and then as fast as it appeared, it disappeared, so I don't think it is because of where I live.  It does the same thing at home and at work.
I have used my itouch at all places many times before, with no problems.
I hope VZ is reading this and can give me some helpful information.
    Sincerely,
    Lisa

Odd2see, well this issue is certainly odd to see, but I want to make sure we get your iPhone all up and running. I've used several iPhones and haven't experienced this issue. Also, WiFi isn't related to the network, so you would not need a cell booster/network extender for this issue. If you haven't already, try deleting your paired connections and re-add. Another thing to try is to Reset your Network Settings by going to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. If you're still having an issue after this, I suggest restoring the device as new via iTunes on your computer http://bit.ly/SzGLK.
Let me know if you continue to experience issues with WiFi.

  • My e-mail is no longer being deleted off my mac mini when I delete from my iPad

    Question:
I am working on Mac Mini with Yosemite and my iPad 4
All stuff is up to date.
All my e-mail accounts sync with each other and everything seems fine. But, when I delete my mail on my iPad it does not get deleted on my Mac Mini?
It did before, but now it no longer is updating.
    Why?
    I'm I missing a setting?
    Advise would be very helpful.
    Thanks!

    Do this for BOTH devices:
Go to settings, internet accounts, and then log out of mail. Then log back in.
Maybe your email will sync with your devices.

  • Original file name preserved in metadata but not being found in searches (Mac)

I have a large collection of images (a mix of raw, tif, and jpg files) that I would like to rename. Because some are referred to in other documents by their original names, and because I can't track down every single version that might exist in other folders, I would like to preserve their original (current) filenames in their metadata so that searching for these old names will locate the renamed files.
I experimented by renaming a few JPGs with the "Preserve current filename in XMP Metadata" option checked. While the original filename does appear in the metadata under "Camera Raw," it does not turn up in searches performed using command-f (in Finder), Spotlight, or even Bridge. I have not yet tried this on TIFs or raw files, but:
    What am I doing wrong?
    Technical details:
    Bridge CS6
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    MacBook Pro
Final note: Bridge does not seem to generate a sidecar xmp file. Would it do this for a jpg?
    Thank you for the help!

I tried it and it works for me.  It inserts the preserved filename under the filename line.  You probably need this field checked in metadata preferences.
It looks like the preserved file name is stored in the XMP sidecar data.  I tried a test Find but the preserved filename does not show up.
If one slips up on the batch rename, or go back to original, one can revert to original by going back to batch rename and selecting "preserved filename" in new filenames box.

  • After loading OSX 10.9.2, my Canon printer is no longer found when trying to print from my MacBook Pro.

After loading OSX 10.9.2,  my printer is no longer recognized by my Mac.  I have a Canon MG 7120 and it is connected wirelessly.

    Try:
uninstall all printer manufacturer apps and "utilities"
go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Print
control-click on your printer in the column on the left
select "Reset Printing System..." and "reset" in the dialog that follows
do a factory reset on your printer. You'll have to consult the printer manual for how.
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer
power up each item in turn in the same order: modem, router, computer, and printer. Let each power up completely before moving on to the next
enter your wifi password in your printer so it can connect to the network
go back to printers & scanners and it should see your printer and download a driver for it from Apple (if there is one)
if that doesn't work there are a few options
look on the printer manufacturer's website for an updated driver
see if Gutenprint for Mac OS X has a driver
see if your printer will work with AirPrint or a generic driver. See: OS X Mountain Lion: If the software for your printer can’t be found (the reference says Mountain Lion but it still applies for Mavericks.)
    go back to Mountain Lion
    get a new printer

    Any help appreciated

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

  • Wifi Printer Not Found

I have a MacBook and I bought a new Epson Artisan 730 printer. I have set up the wifi correctly because I can print from my iPhone and iPad, but my Mac does not see it. When I open Print and Scan and try to add the printer it does not show up. Nearby Printers is also not an option as it is grey and unclickable. I am at a loss on what to do next. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

I had exactly the same "scanner not connected" problem when up upgraded to OS X Leopard. However I've just downloaded the latest 10.4 driver from the HP web site
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-53297-1 &lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=420428&os=219&lang=en
And I seem to have somehow managed to get everything working once I re-installed their latest driver and followed the set-up process (having deleted the previous printers first). After opening "Print & Fax" when prompted to click "open print utility" (as this does not work), I then added the HP2710 printer by clicking the plus sign and choosing the "Default" tab in the add printer window, I selected the add printer button again (plus sign) and chose the "more printers" tab along the top of the add printer window and then chose HPAiO Fax and this added the fax to my print queue.
Then when I went back to the HP set-up process and let it finish, everything, included my scanner miraculously seemed to work...hallelujah!
Hope this help someone, as it's the first ever time I've been able to offer some assistance in discussions, rather than bugging everyone with all my problems!
    Big Love
    Bernard

  • Lexmark Pro805 Prestige (the challenge that is linux wifi printing)

I know it's a boring topic, but I'd really appreciate help getting printing to work.  I guess it's also a tad bit ironic that the guy whose forum handle is "print" needs printer assistance, but I digress.
Who wants to help me make history by being the first to get this all-in-one wireless printer working?    If I do get it to work I promise to do a write up to help others.
Here's what i've tried so far.
    * I downloaded the .deb including drivers and PPD from lexmark
    * unpacked them in virtualbox running Ubuntu 9.10
    * I copied all the files over to my arch server
    * installed the printer in Cups.
The print protocol is jetdirect (socket://192.168.1.112:9100), and I can also browse to the built-in HTTP server.  Cups reports the printer as "Idle," and I can send jobs to the cups print queue.  However, it looks like jobs aren't getting sent to the printer.  Of course, integration with my wife's XP box is seamless.
I'm looking for troubleshooting ideas.  Everything about system-config-printer and cups is so GUIfied that I can't see what's happening at a low level, so to try and diagnose the problem is difficult.
    Some clues:
The lexmark command line utilities work.  For example,
    # /usr/lexinkjet/lxk09/bin/prnutility -d lex -n 192.168.1.112 -s
    Status: Ready
This is what it returns when the printer is in sleep mode:
    # /usr/lexinkjet/lxk09/bin/prnutility -d lex -n 192.168.1.112 -s
Printer Error. The printer cannot communicate with the computer.
    This prints a test page:
    # /usr/lexinkjet/lxk09/bin/prnutility -d lex -n 192.168.1.112 -t
When I try to run the bundled configuration tool (lexijtools) I get the following:

    EDIT 20100312 1800h CST
OK, so the java error is normal, or at least harmless/inconsequential.  The lexijtools cats that same message to stderr and then on to /dev/null on ubuntu, which is why I didn't recognize it as normal before.  To verify I commented that out and it prints the same message on ubuntu so that's a red herring.  I think the reason the gui was showing up as a whiteout panel was because I was using awesome window manager instead of gnome and java couldn't find gtk or whatever windowing system it uses.  Then I couldn't start gnome at all because one of the dbus .conf files I copied over from the lexmark blob on ubuntu had too restrictive permissions.  You know it's a bad linux day when installing a printer breaks gnome.
I found a blog post with some ubuntu-centric info about newer model lexmark printers for any interested parties:  http://thatissopunkrock.org/blog/2010/e … etup-tips/

  • How do I use a wifi printer with my iPhone

How do I print to a wifi printer from my iPhone

    Hi rhonda177!
The feature that allows you to print from your iPhone to a Wi-Fi printer is called AirPrint, and more information on it can be found here:

Also, when im viewing websites and i find something i wish to print, same again, if i simply click on the print option at the top right of the screen nothing happens... the only way I can print is if i copy the weblink of the site page then click on my HP eprint app and paste the web link, then select print, it prints off fine.. but its it such a pain to keep copying and pasting links or screen dumping emails just to print...

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!
