Will a factory reset take me back to iOS7?

Having upgraded the iPad Air to 8, will a factory reset now take me back to the 7 it shipped with, or will I just end up with a clean install of 8?
Thanks

No, it won’t downgrade the device.

  • Will a factory reset delete my apple account and my cellular service?

My ex took my iPad and did a factory reset. Will she be able to use my apple account? Will my cellular plan still be active? We are currently living in Japan. My cellular plan is from SoftBank Japan.

    This describes a factory reset:

You will need to put that into context with the specific situation you posted.

  • Will not factory reset!!!

I've been getting the notices to install update to 4.0.4.  When I begin the install the phone will automatically restart and go to this black screen with white google logo....and just freeze there forever.  I've tried this a bunch of times always the same result.
So I did what verizon told me to do and that is to do a factory reset.  Went into the settings app and did factory reset, but my phone did the same thing again!!  It just has a black screen with white google logo and it just stays like that forever!!!!  I tried this many times too all with the same result.
Then I tried doing the alternate method of a factory reset as shown here: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=51446#alternate
The alternate method also has the same result too in which there is a white google logo on a black screen.
Can anyone tell me how I can get this phone to do a factory reset????
I feel like my only options is >Post edited to comply with VZW ToS< or get a crappy refurb phone.  What do you guys think I should do?

    Tidbits,
Would you know what my problem is....?  I have an unmodified Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I've had all kinds of issues with installing the IMM76K over the air.  I've been getting the install notices and when I click install, it reboots, but the only thing I see is a black screen with a white google logo and it'll stay on this screen forever.  Only way to reset is to pull out the battery.  I've tried this multiple times all with the same result.  Finally, I gave up and did as recommended by Verizon and that was to do a factory reset.  Interestingly (or unfortunately), when I do the factory reset, it restarts and all you see is a black screen with white google logo and it stays on this screen forever.  Only way to get out of it is to pull out the battery.  I tried the alternative method of factory reset which is to hold down the power and volume buttons, but I got the same result too, in which it freezes on a black screen with white google logo.
Can you please tell me what might be wrong with my phone.  Again, my phone is not modified in anyway.  Thanks.
It seems like something is wrong with my system, or my bootloader.  Additionally, my phone has really been solid, no dropped calls, no loss of reception, nothing weird, so I'm really hesitant in getting a refurb phone that might have additional problems.
Anyhelp from anyone would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!!!!

  • Will a factory reset remove my carrier information?

Like I said in the title, I'm needing to do a factory reset on my iPhone 4s, and I'm need to know if it'll remove my carrier settings (my own number) so I'm not without a phone for any longer than I need to be. I am currently running iOS 7.

Carrier settings and account information are stored on the SIM card.
Nothing on the SIM is touched during a restore.

  • Will a factory reset of my desktop help my computer perform better?

HP6821p  Desktop  Will a complete factory restore make my computer run better and faster? It seem that videos freeze up more than they ever did in the past. yahoo email takes a long time to load which never happened in the past. I have tried just about every program to search for Spayware, Malware, Viruses, Disk Cleaners, etc. But my computer seems to be much slower than it use to be.

Yes, a System Recovery will definitely increase system performance.  You should do a backup of your personal data before beginning.  I do a system recovery at least once per year.  I like the feel of a computer with no glitches.

  • When i open my Ipod app it will just freeze and take me back to the homescreen?

Everytime i open the Ipod app, its freezes and takes me out back to the homescreen, please help. !

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • I have previously unlocked my o2 phone, if I carry out a factory reset will it relock itself?

I am thinking of selling my iphone 4, which originally came from O2.  I previously had it unlocked once the contract ran out.  I am thinking of selling it, but will a factory reset "lock" it back to O2?

That depends on how you "unlocked" it. As bhazel stated, if it was legitimately unlocked by the carrier, and restored using iTunes so that you got the "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked!" message, then you can update it and it will remain unlocked.
If you took it to a shop on the corner and had it "unlocked" it was hacked. Not only will it not remain unlocked if you update, it may become completely unusable, even with the carrier it was originally locked to.

  • Is factory reset for Windows 7 gonna restore my BIOS too to its original state when I bought it?

I am using Windows 8 now, I bought my laptop in JULY 2012. It came with Windows Home Premium and I have the recovery disks for Windows 7. I plan to factory reset my laptop because of my disappointment with Windows 8 and supprt for Windows 8.
I want to know that if the 'Factory Reset' will restore the laptop BIOS to its original state. I mean I have my BIOS updated to the latest. I want it to go back to its old state. Also how long does the Factory Reset takes? I own HP DV6T 7000 Quad edition with 32gb mSSD.
Intel RST doesn't work no matter what, my HDD is shown in non-RAID and there is no way I can change it to RAID. So my last option is to try the Factory Reset and see if it helps. I am pretty sure  IRST will work only if my BIOS is restored to the original state along with everything so it starts detecting my HDD in RAID.

    Hi,
A factory image recovery will not affect the BIOS version or its current settings. The amount of time that the factory image recovery takes wil depend on which type of recovery media you have. If you have usb recovery media than it will probably take perhaps thiry minutes. It you use a recovery disk set then the recovery could take a few hours to complete.
Once you start the recovery do not touch the keyboard.
Make sure that the wireless is turned on before you commit to the recovery.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Space button on Treo Pro (sprint) takes me back to Home

    Hello,
I just had an odd thing happen yesterday.  When I looked at my phone, some settings were changed - my digital clock display for time got set to analog.  I switched it back thinking it wasn't a big deal.  Anyway later when I try to text, every time I hit space after s set of letters it will exit Messaging and take me back Home.  I can press space multiple times, but if it comes after I start typing any letters, after the 3rd letter, it will exit.  I also tried the transcriber and other input methods and it does the same.  So somehow the Space key in messaging has been changed.  I tried a battery pull and it didn't resolve the settings.
Is there any way to resolve this by not having to Hard Reset?
    Thank you

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.   Unfortunately the only option here is to do the hard reset.  Be sure to sync first as this will totally remove all data from your device.  If you need instructions go to this link.

  • What, *exactly*, does a factory reset do?

My Thinkpad T430, less than a year old, is having issues - corrupted .dll files, Windows Update not working, all sorts of fun stuff. I am waiting on someone to e-mail me clean copies of the .dlls I need BUT am concerned that that won't fix everything, especially the problems with Windows Update. I've exhausted pretty much every other option I can find to try to repair this at this point. The nuclear option is a reset to Lenovo factory settings from the Windows repair environment accessed by pressing F8 during boot, but before I do that I want to understand *exactly* what I would be doing to my computer.
Specifically: will a factory reset return all Windows system files to their original state, meaning there is no chance that the issues I'm having will persist? Will it guarantee that Windows Update will work again and that all of my .dll and other system files will be in a fresh, non-corrupted state? Does the process replace current system files with original versions that were installed on the computer?
I just don't want to restore to factory settings and find that Windows Update still won't work and now I have to install over a year's worth of updates manually from the Microsoft website, one by one, or go through the trouble of having to reinstall all of my programs, get my files back on the computer, fix settings to be as I want them again, etc. only to not have these issues fixed.
    Thanks for any help/input.

    OK,
IMHO the simplest way to perform the factory recovery is to prepare factory recovery media (cd+ 3dvd, or usb flash drive, 16 gb in size) using Factory Recovery Disks applet within Control Panel.
After that recovery process all information on laptop will be deleted (OS, applications, user data) and the state of the OS and applications will be as from the factory. So before that process perform your data backup. Of course after laptop recovery you should to upgrade the OS, drivers, applications from Lenovo, install your applications again.
Or you can repair and replace files (.dll as you mentioned) yourself from the recovery environment by pressing ThinkVantage button while laptop boots up. But it's useful way if you have full system backup.
I''d advice to make full system backup after factory recovery, with upgraded drivers, applications.

  • 5800 does a factory reset also reset the sim lock

I have a 5800, which has been unlocked by the provider (Tmobile) so I can use an 02 sim.
The phone currently has the expired certificate problem, and as suggested in the forums a factory reset may fix this. I know that most of the phones setting will also be reset...
But will a factory reset also reset the sim lock, and lock the phone back to Tmobile ?

    No. It will remain unlocked.

    Hi, SBtaylor.
The iPhone will require the previously used SIM or a valid activated SIM after factory resetting the device.
