I justed downloaded Lion, iWeb is still available but is it going away next year with iDisk?

iWeb has already essentally gone away. But if you are publishing your website via MobileMe, then that will cease next June. I suggest you check out MobleMe and iWeb.

This can happen if iTunes gets confused about what is and isn't on the device. These steps should resolve.
Backup the device.
Restore as a new device.
Restore the backup made earlier.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPad. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

When Leopard comes out, will Tiger still be available?

I'm a nincompoop with computers, when Leopard comes out, will Tiger still be available to purchase? I would rather have OS X Leopard, but I don't know if my powerbook will satisfy the requirements to run it. Have they published the requirements for Leopard? I want to make an informed decision but I'm not sure if time will permit.

MacSales does still sell OSX Panther (version before Tiger). So if Leopard is available for sail you can still buy Tiger there. There are also a lott other store's which do sell previous versions off OSX.
I don't know what model powerbook you have?
If it is a G4 then you can definitely run Leopard on it. Leopard will probably not support any off the Mac's with a G3 processor.

Yes, but since the initial stock has already been sold the (at least this is what is being reported) any iPhone 5 ordered today would not ship until at least 10/5 or later. You may have be able to get your new phone sooner by visiting a store on 9/21 if you have one nearby.

If the device is completely reset and restored to defult settings, then it will not notify you because all the account informmation will have been removed. (Which is probably a good thing too)

You're on Mac (thanks for providing that detail): are you getting a "could not be read" message? If you are, it's a write permissions issue with the destination. Change the permission, and all should be well.

FIrst try a soft reset by holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears then let go & let the iPad boot up normally.
If that doesn't help then to make sure you have a strong internet connection.
Try resetting Network Settings
Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings,
You won't lose any data but will have to log back into your wifi networks.
Once logged back in and when the pop-up appears, try entering your password again.

Still using an old tnsnames.ora even though it was erased

I downloaded and unzipped 1.2.1-32.13. But it is not reading my new tnsnames.ora.
My operating system is XP pro.
Initially I had just the oracle client installed with it's own tnsnames.ora and added sqldeveloper 1.0.0 and then later 1.2.1. I couldn't get my connections to work at all in either one. Unfortunately this was a corporate install that had some "wrapper" on it, not just the Oracle install tool and I removed it by running Oracle install tool and then removing oracle_home from the registry - something initially fishy here because Oracle couldn't completely get rid of it.
I then installed a full oracle 10g and put a good tnsnames.ora there. Now sqlplus and the database work fine, but sql-developer 1.2.1 still has the old (bad) tnsnames even though the file no longer exists. I did a full search of both C and D drives including system and hidden files for a file with a string that existed only in the old tnsnames file that sqldeveloper still shows and it came up with no matching files. I also can't find it in the registry (didn't expect to tho).
My previous version of sqldeveloper (1.0.0.15.57) finds the new tnsnames.ora just fine and works well, but the new one is stuck with the old entries and I can't figure out how to tell it to get the new file.

I have only one tnsnames.ora and no other files named even remotely like tnsnames and no files containing the string "P902.oracledb" which is the first tns connection shown in sql-developer 1.2.1 list of tns connections. As I said I verified this by doing a Windows search of all files on both drives including system and hidden files.A Windows search for file contents only searches contents for certain file types - I can search a directory containing a tnsnames.ora file for something that is in my tnsnames.ora file but it is not found by the Windows search.
I suspect there is a registry entry that is pointing to somewhere, so I deleted sqldeveloper ...The TNS stuff for SQL Developer is not based on the SQL Developer install but the Oracle Client install, so reinstalling the same version of SQL Developer will not change the TNS issue.
There has got to be some other place where this information is stored, but where?Have you checked %USERPROFILE%? This the Win XP version of the $HOME and a tnsnames.ora file in %USERPROFILE% takes precedence over one in %TNS_ADMIN% (it did for me at least).

Sounds like you have a newer iMac than this forum covers. The newer ones have a bar or "fence" that, on detecting the drive has failed. moves the bar to block the slot so no media can be inserted (to avoid damage or loss of a disk).

I also seem to have having this problem, despite having checked the "prevent" option in Preferences. Typing words into the Safari search bar (NOT the Google search bar on one of Google's search pages) leads to suggestions being made:

Do you have Sync over wifi enabled for this device?
Click on the device name, Scroll down the summary page to options and the second box is Sync Via Wifi. If you do not want this uncheck it and click apply

Anyone have any suggestions?? I've run iTunes for years now, this last update "killed" the ablity for it to run automatically on my Win7 machine. I've unloaded EVERTYTHING apple on my computer 3x times now, reloaded, as admin - even paid for cleaners to make sure. Will time machine files on snow leopard still be available on lion

Hi all,
I found lots of stuff on moving files around via TM backups but I don't want to do that. I'm in the situation where I've just upgraded my iMac from SL to Lion - if I now plug in my TM disk and switch TM on, will my pre-Lion backups still be available? I'd be surprised if the answer is "no" - but then I've been surprised before ;-)

Linc, hi, yes this is what I did, I took a CCC clone to an external drive, booted from that and went through the whole upgrade thing on the clone. Then when I was happy, I rebooted the iMac as normal on its internal HD, and took another (SL) clone. Then I repeated the upgrade but now on the internal HD. So I'm reasonably happy, just want to get through a couple of days' work. I wouldn't want to revert - if push came to shove and something was troublesome I'd do my day job on the SL clone until I got it fixed on 10.7. Thanks for you help.
