Win 10 Satellite S855 issues - not listed in supported models

I tried upgrading to Win 10 and found that my LAN and WLAN was not recognized and not able to connect so I reverted back to Win 8.1 where everything works.Adapter Realtek RTL8723AE After some research I found no support info for my model Satellite S855 on http://win10upgrade.toshiba.com/swupdate/modellist.aspx?region=TAIS&lang=en&country=US  Am I to understand I'm stuck with Win 8.1 since my model is not on the list? Purchased in 2013 so it's not quite an ancient machine,Any helpful info on the problem would be appreciated.

There is nothing stopping you from going to Win 10 and, with your late model, you probably will have few  problems although LAN and WiFi problems are pretty common.  If you try again, check with your LAN and WiFi manufacturer's sites for help. Also, you could try re-installing the Win 8.1 drivers since Win 10 may have used  generic drivers during its installation. What Toshiba is saying is that there are no Toshiba drivers or utilities written for Win 10 at the present time.
I have been a Win 10 tester for 10 months using an older model purchased in December of 2013 with Win 7 and I have no Toshiba support either.  I am using that machine now and have it running just fine and, incidentally, I've grown to l;like Win 10 although that wasn't true the first few months.

    I have no idea what pages or database you are meaning but the Satellite A300-20Q is not available in every country!
    This model has been released for Russia market.
    Other Sat A300-xxx models are avaialbel on other European/middle east countries.

  • My Satellite S855 will not sleep

    I have a toshiba satellite S855-S5254 that will not sleep either if i close the lid, use the power button or just tell it to sleep on screen. I am running win 8. The laptop will sit for days on, no screen creating a lot of heat and noise. It is completely un responsive and the only way for me to use my computer again is to force it down and the start up time is really bad and for work this is becoming a serious issue of lost work, and wasted time. I accidentally didin;t notice that it was failing to sleep and left it runnig for three days still nothing. I was in device manager and clicked update on just about everything i could find. Can anybody help?

    Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and expand Network adapters. Double-click the Ethernet Controller to open Properties. Attach a picture of the Power Management tab.

  • L40 - why is this not listed as a model

    I am trying to see if there are an updates for BIOS for my laptop as the battery is not charging. The model number si not listed. Can anyone advise? It is an L40.

    What is the rest of the model number?  What is the Part Number?  Are you looking in the Support Site for your specific geographic region?  This is the USA support site and only USA models are listed here.  If you are from Europe, Australia, Canada, etc. you need to go to their support site to download files for that model. 
    If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

    Cannot conect it with 4s. Does bletooth 3 make the difference? Or better is there some list of supported headsets?

  • Satellite S855-S5264 not reading DVDs or CDs

    The computer will play Blu Rays but it will not read anything else from the optical drive.  I have uninstalled the driver, restarted the computer and still nothing.  I have also ran the Microsoft Fixit tool and it cannot repair the issue but suggests that the media type may be wrong.  So unless this particular Blu Ray combo drive cannot read anything from the factory it has an issue.

  • T400 6474-P1U not listed on support page

    I have another thread in the ThinkVantage forum pertaining to System Update specifically, but it appears that issue might actually be related to something bigger.
    Doing a search for my T400's specific model number (6474-P1U) on Lenovo's support page turns up no results. The only T400 6474 models with the P prefix on the list are P4G, P8C, P8Q, and P8Y.
    Is this an error on Lenovo's part or have they dropped support for the P1U?

  • SUID Permission Issues not Listed on Apple's Site

    Hey, I have more SUID warnings than listen on apple's site...

    It is saying they are modified and will not be repaired. Some of the ones I have are listed, most are not. Is this a concern? I read on another mac forum that "all SUID warnings are not created equal" meaning some you should be concerned about, some not.

    The SUID warnings in Leopard have so far meant that the installdb was not properly updated. You need to check whether this is the issue. I'll show you how with the load_webdav as an example. Open the Terminal application and check the installdb with this command:
    pkgutil --file-info /System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav
    Look for the mode. It should read: mode: 104755. If the mode is correct then the sha1 digest was not properly recorded in the installdb. Check the sha1 digest for the current file installed with this command:
    /usr/bin/openssl sha1 /System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav
    Is it different? You'll see the sha1 digest recorded in the installdb from the pkgutil commmand.
    If so then let's look at the bill of material files and see if the checksum is correct. First you use this command to consult the bom files. The last column in the output is the checksum:
    for i in $(ls -1 /Library/Receipts/boms/); do echo $i;lsbom /Library/Receipts/boms/"$i" | grep load_webdav; done
    Now check the checksum for the current installed file with the command:
    cksum /System/Library/Extensions/webdavfs.kext/Contents/Resources/loadwebdav
    Is the checksum the same. If so then it is safe to assume that the installdb was not properly updated. I would also check every other file that produced a warning message.

  • Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5120 not recognized by support

    Bought new Satellite C655D-S5120 at Staples. Went to Toshiba to check for any updates. My laptop is not even recognized on the support site. To update my laptop is their another model number I should be using. 

    If the serial number is not detected by Automatic detection you can find drivers manually.
    Maybe you have the same A200 as friend of mine. His notebook has part number PSAE6E.
    To find right drivers please visit Toshiba download and support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Support Homepage and at the bottom you will find link Download drivers.
    Go there and choose your notebook model with right short model number.
    If you need more help please let me know.
    BTW: have you tried to find right drivers on Toshiba France support page?

    Yes I was aware of that.  A bit annoying when you pay a premium for the disk version a little while back and the App Store version is a fraction of the cost.  But I suppose that's something we all have to live with.  FCPX is another in that category but then I had not previously bought FCP7.  You win some, you lose some.

  • Handset or Tablet device not listed

    So my wife bought an Iphone from verizon wireless back in Sept.   We are having issues getting the $100 Verizon Wireless gift card.  Basically, I've gone to the online submissions site @ trade-in.vzw.com; however my basic phone (LG-VX9200) is not listed under the Model Numbers.  I've gone to the Trade-In support Center multiple times since September and filled out the form with topic "Handset or Tablet device not listed".  I've never been emailed back nor has my model number been added.  Becasue of this I am unable to complete the trade-in and get my gift card.  Any advice on what I should do?  BTW: the representative @ Verizon Wireless said our model is eligible for the upgrade.  Thanks

  • Satellite L650-111 is not listed in Toshiba's support

    I have Satellite L650-111 ( part number PSK1JE-00E00PY4) and when I try to access Toshiba support page for my computer
    there is no success. Even if I try to use "detect your notebook" there is no success.
    In whole Toshiba site(s) I could not find my notebook model.
    WHY????
    I'm very disappointed whit this situation, even more because that I had Toshiba Satellite A80-129 and whole
    set of drivers and support are listed.

    Hi buddy,
    To be honest I dont understand your problem. I mean if your notebook will not be detected due automatic detection tool you can still search for drivers yourself. This takes one minute only.
    Your model belongs to PSK1JE series and therefore you have to search for L650 and PSK1JE downloads. Thats all! :)

  • How to uninstall "ghostery" that is not listed in add ons or control panel on win 7?

    There have been a fewf popup windows occurring on my computer that I have no knowledge of consenting to. Two of them just pop up; one is in video format and the other two are advertizing windows. The only one that I was able to glean an I.D. from is "ghosty" or something like that. I looked in my add on's and it's not listed in there or my add/remove list. I have no idea how they entered, but I want them off of my computer. I did find one add on that I did not recognize and I disabled that. My greatest pet peeve about Firefox and/or Adobe updates etc is that the spyware virus-like junk creeps in somehow. I know how to keep the obvious ones out like McAfee on Adobe but the others sneak in somehow. My home (google) changes with the regularity, and I'm so frustrated with this crap. I have Win XP on my desktop and Win 7 on my laptop, How do I get rid of these maddening pop ups? I do very few downloads and only from trusted sites, ie Big Fish. My desktop has slowed down so much! I have Norton 2014 9n both computers and have had it on longer than the current slow down so I know it's not Norton.
