Win 8.1 - Driver or Software problem

ATTEMPTING to connect EOS10D to WIN 8.1...
It has been connected and is working fine with WIN XP PRO...
So camera is ok... it is a driver problem...
please see NOTES BELOW...
Please provide previous troubleshooting steps,  or information that can help Canon assist you:
I have done the following:
1. Went to CANON web site for drivers and it said to get drivers from Microsoft? http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_10...
2. Went to Microsoft and downloaded Windows8.1-KB2859675-X64 drivers? when I ran it, it indicated told me ?this update was not applicable for my computer??
http://www.windowsobserver.com/2013/09/25/microsoft-updates-camera-codec-pack-for-windows-8-1/
3.  Then downloaded Windows8.1-KB2859675-X86 drivers? got the same message?
Has anything changed since the unit funtioned properly?
(Installation of software, setting, cabling etc.):
DRIVER PROBLEMS ...
Any help appreciated...
Thanks in advance
Ed

Actually I got the following (see below) from CANON Support...
I already had the latest FirmWare installed on the EOS 10D and when I changed the COMMUNICATION to "PTP" I was able to see the camera in Windows Explorer... I never got the Wizard to recognize it, but all I really needed was to offload files... I use Photoshop or other software to edit pics...
Thanks for your input and hope this helps someone else...
======================CANNON SUPPORT
The EOS 10D is not compatible with Windows 7 or 8 in the normal communication mode.  You can look under the wrench and hammer icon and you will find Communication mode which you will need to change to "PTP" in order to connect using the Windows Camera Wizard.
If you do not have the COMMUNICATION option in your menu then you will need to update your firmware on your EOS 10D.  You can find the latest version along with the installation instructions at this link:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_10...
Once you have installed that firmware for your EOS 10D you should be able to connect.  There will be a zipped file which will contain the .fir file to load to the CF card of the camera using a USB card reader and a pdf file of the instructions for the installation procedure.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.  Thank you for choosing Canon.

  • Dead hard drive or software problem

    Hello Everyone!!
I recently picked used 600 Mhz iMac
It came with 10.3 installed, wanted to install 10.2.8 and the computer crashed when I started off the 9.1 install CD
After the crash, the computer would not start up off the hard drive, and I've tried several different installation CD's (including a 10.3 installer) and the hard drive does not even show up in the Disc Utility.
My first thought maybe my hard drive is dead, but the more I think about it the more I think that it must be some sort of software problem (i.e. data corruption on the drive or something). I mean, I don't believe it's even possible that a computer crash could kill a hard drive!
    But from there, I'm lost!
I've reset the PRAM, and that didn't work. The only other thing I can think of is something like Norton Utilities.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Best Regards,
    Bryan

    Bryan,Welcome to Discussions.
If the hard disk isn't showing in Disk Utility I would suspect the drive is dead or not connected properly - given it's age probably the former - although if's the machines been movede around a bit you could crack the case and check all the connections. Whilst I agree that a crash shouldn't kill a hard disk - a hard disk dying would cause a crash.
I, any many other's here, would counsel against using Norton on an OS X machine - Norton doesn't know and understand OS X structures and can cause serious issues.
Probably time for a new HDD.

  • CD drive or software problems

I tried burning music to a cd using both iTunes and Windows media player, iTunes gave me an "unknown error 4450" and the media player just said an error had occurred. I was able to burn files to a DVD, but it does tell me that the drive is already in use when it asks if I want to format the disc, I don't know if that is normal or not so I thought I would mention it. Any help would be awesome thanks

  • HP Laserjet PRO MFP M125nw; Wireless Driver installation problem in Win 8.1

Product name : HP Laserjet PRO MFP M125nw, product nr CZ173A
US Operating system: Dual Boot:   Win Vista home premium (32 bit) / Win 8.1 pro (32 bit)
The printer was installed under Vista in September 2014 and was and still is wireless printing and scanning without a problem.
Recently I tried to install the printer (wireless) under Win 8.1 and I downloaded the latest Full Feature software from HP.nl.
During installation the software installation package could not find the printer and installation was aborted.
I ran the printer self test / Configuration. The network Info and product info sheets were without  errors. A ping to the IP address of the printer was without a loss. The firewall indicated that HP software is accepted.
Off course I read everything on HP about this problem I followed every advice and repeatedly gave it a try. I even installed the usb cable solution ( USB was working ok) followed by your change connection instructions, but all in vain.
To my surprise HP was able to find my printer when I checked on http:// www.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpsupport/index.pl. However the printer was found in my local network as a HP Laserjet Pro M1132 multifunctional printer with product nr stars 3NW-01 which is not correct, however the found serie nr. of CNB7G3RC78 was correct.
The print and scan doctor made some changes to the software and after that I was able to print wirelessly, however the Scan doctor button did not react at all and using the program was not possible further. Starting the program again gave the same result.
Conclusion:       In Vista: HP wireless print and HP wireless Scan is working fine
In Win 8.1: HP wireless print is OK, HP wireless Scan cannot be installed !????
In Win 8.1: Windows Printer driver and Win Fax& Scan driver both wireless working ok
Remark: Reading the display is difficult in dim lit areas. The on / off button is brightly lit and this light should be used to enlighten the display instead.
A solution for the scanning problem would be appreciated.
    Kind regards
    JWAH

Hi @JWAH , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing driver issues. I'd like to help!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125/126 Series Full Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • B590 running Win 7 64bit USB to serial problems

Hello All, Hit a bit of a brick wall with a weird problem I have regarding USB to serial converters in Windows 7 64bit Pro.I have a number of USB to serial converters in my office, but in particular I have a HL340 generic cable an easysync cable.A technician recently replaced their work laptop with a Lenovo B590 running Win 7 pro 64 bit. We use these USB to serial converters to communicate with embedded systems and security panels. I have tested both the above cables in a number of OSes, and they work perfectly on my -a) A netbook running Lubuntu 12.04,
    b) an older desktop running Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit
    c) and my main Win 7 Pro 32bit desktopWhen connecting either cable to the Lenovo, the driver installs, then refuses to work with the following error in device manager-"A service installation section in the INF is invalid"This is with the driver that installs automatically through Windows update, and it also occurs when I manually specify a driver (I hit the update driver button and select the folder for the downloaded driver). I've downloaded drivers for both converters from the manufacturers website and it returns the same error. Strangely enough, when you try and update the driver (either manually or automatically through Windows update) it says the best driver for the hardware is already installed.Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver leads to the same problem. My thoughts are that this is a problem with 64bit Windows, however a couple of our other technicians running Win 7 64 bit are able to use these same Easysync cables with no software problems (albeit often with hardware problems). The cable works fine in Windows XP mode on the Lenovo B590, but will not work natively. Any ideas? Because I am stumped.

    hi danplanet,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you try disabling the Driver enforcement
    http://www.fotoclubinc.com/blog/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-to-allow-installation-of-windows-7-printer-drivers-on-windows-8/
this is to address the "A service installation section in the INF is invalid" issue
After disabling the Driver Enforcement it should now ask your permission if you want to continue with the installation,
Continue with the installation and check,
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers!

  • HP Drive Encryption Software (Winmagic)

Hi, I'm having a problem with the HP Drive Encryption Software. I had to reinstall my operating system, but I forgot the decrypt my hard drive before the reinstall. My HDD was split into 3 partitions, 1 was for the OS and the other 2 for data storage. Currently, after the reinstall, I can see the one with the OS, as it was formated during the reinstall, but as for the other 2, they are not available. Windows recognized those partitions as not formatted and when I click on them the OS says that before using the partition it needs to be formated. I was hoping that by installing the Drive Encryption Software it will be easy to recover those partitions, but apparently it wasn't. I have my old spare key stored on a external USB device, but when I was trying to recover following the guidelines I found in the Help section of the HP Client Security app (via the login screen after a restart) I run into an error. 0xa1 I believe. Is there any way to recover those partitions? I wouldnt want to format them and loose all my data. Pls advise. Thank you

I am sure that is not a surprising answer, have you thought about Bitlocker http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/bitlocker
    - you need Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise
    - works great with TPM (without TPM look in Win 8)
    - manage it with in AD (with an Enterprise Agreement you can do MBAM)
    - add some scripts (WMI) for reporting
    - configure GPOs so that all recovery keys are stored centrally and make seperate backups of all recovery info in AD just in case the machine account gets deleted and recreated and you need after 2years the recovery key
My experience with 3rd parties are not good either, regardless who it was.
    Hope that helps,
    Lutz

  • Kernel panic but software problem

Kernel panic (the "You have to restart your computer" message at startup) is said to come from hardware problems but this seems to be a software problem - maybe somebody can help me!
It started slowly with the fans coming on more often than ususally. Then, I had some kernel panics at startup, usually after two or three false stars, the system would load. Hardware Test said everything was OK, Disc Utility corrected a few permission errors, but the problem persisted. I tried everything: Disconnecting everything, removing PCI card, you name it, nothing helped.
Only thing that did help was start over. "Archive and install" was not good enough, I had to start from zero. Which means that all my iTunes library and all the rest waas lost. Made a disc image on an external HD and went for it.
After that, I upgraded to 10.4.11 and tried the migration assistant. Left some of the programs out from the old installation, but took my Documents folder with me. Imported my iTunes library and iPhoto pictures. Until then, everything was perfect. After that point, the fan started its strange behavior again, and today guess what: You have to restart your c.!
So it must have to do with the programs and data that I imported, and not hardware. Have no idea though - anyone run into similar problems?
Apart from standard apps, the only thing I use is Cubase but I haven´t touched it for a long time.

Hi, thanks for your reply! I am now trying to rebuild everything using 10.4.7 ... seems the driver for the audio card (m-audio) was at least causing problems. I´ll see if it was the only one. I did the system updates whenever they popped up in software update but there wasn´t even a driver available for 10.4.11.
If that´s not it, I´ll try to use your tips! Thank you!

  • My macbook pro 15 mid2010, crash every time in the last month. What can i do? Is a hardware or software problem?

The problem is that my mac is working very well, in soft programs, like browser or text editing, and then stop. Stop for one eternity, until i do a hard shut down.
After this situation apper´s many times, in a single day, i went to a apple service store and left my mac to repair. At first, the tecnhical manager told me that happens a lot, and the problem are in the logic board. Well, when i pick up the mac, he told me that was a software problem and was solved with the instalation of 10.8.5, but in that same day, he crash 3 or 4 times, in different way´s. Now, he crash´s and restart alone, and at the first try don´t restart appearing one message on the grey screen.
I don´t know what is this problem.
Someone have or had this problem too?
    What is the solution?
    Thanks a lot...

Maybe find a local who can translate for you. I don't know what to tell you for dealing in another country for service on your computer.
I can offer you something you can do if you want to give it a try. You'll need a backup of your data in your Home folder because you need to erase the drive. You'll also need a solid, preferably fast, internet connection.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Windows xp pro stalls - blank screen- hardware or software problem?

    Hi Guys,
My system is about one month old and has been awesome in performance and graphics.
Suddenly it (windows xp pro) stalls after flashing the windows loading screen and it goes blank. Looks like a software problem?
I am posting on this forum because when I check cmos, no hard drives are registered.
I can't get into safe mode, can't get past the administrator/user screen because no mouse operates here and can't select icons with the keyboard.(No admin passwords were set up anyway)
Booting from CD, repair console doesn't work because it can't find any hard drive.
Reluctant to do a complete reinstall because of precious stuff on the hard drive.
Using f8, "last known good..." just gives the same blank screen.
Using floppy boot, no other drives are recognized.
If my root directory has been wiped out by a virus or something, how come it gets past post and starts to load windows? If it's merely the graphics driver or similar not loading, how come the cmos shows no hard drive?
Is this a hardware or software problem? Any help much appreciated.

    THE ANSWER !!
    Hi Guys,
I finally got to talk to the guy who set up this system and he said that it is normal for RAID drives not to show on BIOS/CMOS. 'Think of it like a vrtual drive' he said. When the black and white initialization screen shows something like: 'Nividia Stripe-healthy'...then THAT is the hard-drive.
He said that as long as Windows was getting to the loading screen, that means that the computer itself was functioning okay, so don't worry about BIOS, the problem is a file corruption in windows, or virus etc.
Also he said that when trying to use recovery console or reinstall windows, because the system can only read the RAID drives through a SCSI interface, you have to load the Nvidia SCSI drivers from floppy by pressing f6 when asked to at the bottom of the pale blue screen (from Windows cd boot), before trying to do anything with windows (or windows will just tell you it can't read the drives, as it did before with me.)
So in the end, I reinstalled windows by that method and everyting seems fine so far. YAY!
Thanks you people for being kind enough to help someone out. I really appreciate it.

  • Win 7 x64 Driver for a 32bit CF Cardbus Adapter (x61)

Does anyone know where I can get a Win 7 x64 driver for a 32bit CF cardbus adapter mounted in the Lenovo x61 internal multicard reader?
I am running Win 7 x64 on a Lenovo X61 7675-CTO.  I have an Viking 32 Bit High Speed Compact Flash Cardbuss Adapter inserted in the internal multicard reader.  When I insert a CF card in the reader, I get  "Mass Storage Controller" and "drivers for this device are not installed" error indicators from the Windows Device Manager.
This configuration was working fine for me under Win XP x32.  I read the suggestion posted to another thread that one can downgrade to Win 7 x32, but I am hoping for a X64 solution.  I have already installed the "6iio10ww" Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit).  The problem seems to be that Viking has not released a x64 driver for this product.  It seems Microsoft should have installed the proper driver during the OS install since this device was around before the Win 7 was introduced.
Can anyone suggest a source for the proper driver or an alternative CF card cardbus adapter known to work with Win 7 x64 OS?

    Thanks!
Apologies for now double-posting: new thread

  • Having software problem, Windows 7 Home, how to format and reinstall

Having software problems, Windows 7.  I have the HP  P6510 desktop. I have backed up my data to ext. drive, and  I have the Windows 7 Home CD which I purchased.
Most of the reading I've done to "format & reinstall" seem to say I don't need to format...just put the Windows 7 CD in and restart...is that all I have to do...I don't have to format the HD?
If I have to "format" the HD, how?
PS:(Last time Computer was in for repair, they replaced the Windows 7 program so product numbers may be different.)

    Hi:
You may want to read this step by step tutorial to install W7.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htm
However, to answer your question, you should not need to repartition or format the hard drive unless you want to.
Windows 7 will install on the current windows partition creating a windows.old folder, which you can delete after W7 is installed.
Having the windows.old folder is nice for folks like me who forgot to save a file or folder.  You can just browse to the Windows.old folder and retrieve any file or folder you want and copy it to the new windows installation.
When you are sure you have gotten all of your files from the windows.old folder you can delete it by launching the disk cleanup utility and then click on the Cleanup System Files button in the disk cleanup window.
Then just check the windows.old folder on the list of files and it will be deleted once you hit the OK button.
If you delete partitions and reformat, you will lose the option of having the windows.old folder.
The tutorial at the link above will step you thru the process of formatting the drive.

  • SATA RAID 0 and Drive Imaging Software

I recently bought True Image 8.0 and it hangs during image restore.  The Acronis forums indicate that many people have had problems using True Image with the promise 378 SATA controllers.  I have a few of questions:
    1. Is anyone using True Image successfully in combination with the Promise 378 SATA controllers?  If so, what version?
    2. With the VIA controllers?  If so, what version?
    3. Are there other drive imaging Software (Norton Ghost, Drive Image, etc.) that are known to work with SATA RAID 0 & the  Promise 378 controller?

  • Is there a diagnostic test to detect hardware or software problems?

    Hi All
Is there a way to run a diagnostics test to find if there is a hardware problem? or software problem? or even a computer history that I can pull up that shows what led up to the crash? (...like in iDVD
I was working on several large video projects in FCP and my space became limited on both my internal drives ( Hitachi and Macintosh)_
I moved files to the Trash bin and when I hit delete, the screen went grey, the fans went into high gear, and an error message came up stating that I'm required to shut down the computer by holding down the ON button. (Crash)
Is this is "blues singin' time" or is there hope to this scenario. Is there a way to run a diagnostics test to find if there is a hardware problem? or software problem? or even a computer history that I can pull up that shows what led up to the crash? (...like in iDVD)
I reinstalled MAC OS X v 10.4.11 but I'm getting the same results.
    Processor: 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC C5
    Memory 4,5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    Thanking All in advance.

Your Mac should have come with an Apple Hardware Test on the DVD that came with your Mac.
For software, run First Aid that is part of Disk Utility on the DVD that came with your Mac or the Tiger install DVD. For directory corruption, the best is DiskWarrior that you have to buy.
Will it boot in Safe Mode? See
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392
Takes a while to run, but it usually "fixes" problems.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
