Window sizing bug in LV2010?

Bug description:
If you build an application where you open a VI with its front panel hidden and then open it as centralized - then that VI will end up being scaled to the full width of your primary screen (i.e. not in its original shape) IF you happened to have the window of that VI partially on another screen when you built the application.
Background:
Windows 7, LabVIEW 2010:
In the VI options dialog you can specify the run-time position of the VI's window. There is one useful option missing: "Hidden", so if I need such a functionality (most often if I need a splash screen, but one that can be disabled...then I need to hide the caller which is the main VI) I use the trick of setting the window's run-time position to "Minimized" - and then run the Fron Panel Open Method with hidden as the mode input as soon as the VI launches...Unfortunately, when you select Minimized (or Maximized), or you hide it programmatically - you do not get to specify where the window should show up and which size it should have when the user then maximizes/minimizes it / you unhide it in code so you have to assume that it will keep its original size and/or programmatically position (and/or size) it when such an event occurs (which should then be a filter event...). I have so far only needed to ensure its position by doing a centralize, however lately I started to see that in a built app (not when running in the development environment) the centralized window got distorted - as it was stretched to the full length of the primary screen. This turned out to be caused by the fact that the last save of that VI has it positioned partially on my secondary screen....So it was easy enough to fix, but there really was no reason for such a particular behaviour...and of course a built app should behave just as the code does in the dev. environment...
I have not tested whether the window would have been strecthed in other ways had my secondary screen been in another position relative to my primary...(or even worse, if the VI was on 3 screens at the same time or more!)...but it would probably just get worse (a vertical strech would normally look worse than a vertical e.g.).

I apologize for the double-post, but I have now tested the panel in Windows, and the bug is even worse. My panel has a couple text boxes, and if the user is typing in one of them when the timer fires, the text box loses focus and the user's keystrokes are interpreted as Photoshop keyboard shortcuts.

ITunes 10.4 and Windows 7 bug thread

I thought I would start an entire thread devoted to iTunes 10.4 and Windows 7 bugs since there are MANY people reporting various issues and may not know about all of them. Hopefully this will combine a list of all bugs for reference and help others. So far, most of this effects Windows 7 64 bit, but some are reporting issues under 32 bit too.
I have spoken with both Apple Care and a higher level tech at iTunes support. The iTunes support tech said they were "looking into all reported bugs and are aware of issues with version 10.4, especially under Windows 7. They encourage others to report their bugs to iTunes support so they can work on this and find all the issues.
KNOWN BUGS:
Album Art copy/paste broken - A bug that causes copy/pase from clipboard where album art is not displayed in the info tab as before. Some have reported success by dragging the image file over to it vs copy/paste method but it is still very much spotty and a known bug.
iTunes store not working - Some have been effected with the iTunes store not working properly for them. Personally I don't have a problem but this has been for some.
"Purchases" link not working in iTunes - When you click on "Purchases" link on the right column, all your purchases are missing and do not show up. This includes, music, movies, apps, etc. This is also a known bug and one that I have personally. Works fine in iTunes 10.3 for Windows 7 64bit and also works fine under both Snow Leopard and Lion OS.
Sync issues - Some have reported syncing issues since upgrading to 10.4 iTunes on Windows 7. This is a bit spotty as well as I have no trouble but there are others that have reported issues.
Solutions:
For now, the only way to fix this is to use iTunes 10.4 under Snow Leopard or Lion OS. Also, you can uninstall (not repair) 10.4 and install 10.3 again which should work.

You are correct and I wish that I had known this before spending 4 days and a lot of trouble going over this with both Apple Care and iTunes support. They had me jumping through hoops and didn't know anything until it was finally escalated. Only then did I get a vague response like I mentioned in the first post. It's troubling to me how a simple response from anyone there could've just said we know about this and they are bugs in 10.4 causing this.
There are other issues too as you point out with the syncing and crashing. Anyway, hopefully others will find information here more useful than calling Apple for help. Not much we can do now except roll back to 10.3 for those that kept it and hope also they can updated Apple Application Support component.

Window sizing not saved?

I resize a sheet in Number v3 and save it bit the careful sizing I set is not saved and a small default window size opens when I re-open the file. How can I save my window sizing as per Number 09?

Hi,
I think window auto-tuning is enabled.
You can disable it by running the following commend.
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

Wrap Up Window Sizing

In UCCX 10, is it possible to modify the Wrap Up Window size. I have a customer with quite a few wrap up codes, they would like to have the window sized accordingly so all wrap up codes are visible within the window.

In Events, want to scroll through window-sized images...

Searched a bit on this, and haven't found a "yes" but thought I would check to see the current thinking.
What I was hoping to do, was utilize the Apple mouse scroll button to easily view all the photos in an event, when they were clicked on to become window-sized. I know I can use the forward and back arrow keys to wander through the set, but the mouse is much more handy (and, I'm afraid, what I was used to with PSE and a scroll-wheel mouse on the PC.) It does let me use the scroll for the thumbnail view, and I'm just hoping I'm missing a setting to allow me to scroll the full-size pictures, too?
This is a useful tool for flipping back and forth when comparing two very similar pics, when trying to select the better one, for example.

Unbelievable! 100s pf apps and not even sorted alphabetically, you just have to have free time to hunt because sony developers didnt have the time to code a simple search feature! I wish i knew this before i bought the tv I would definitely go for another brand!

Window sizing for PDA

I am using RH X5. Output format is neg to the developer.
However, how can I set the window sizing to be viewable on a PDA
sized screen? I have minimal graphics but use a lot of tables.

Did actually figure this out. These are the basic steps :
Minimized the screen
Clicked Alt and spacebar (this pops up a menu).
Selected Move.
Using cursor keys I arrowed down and right a couple of times (cursor starts in top left)
Then I clicked on screen and the Desktop window showed up. I resized to where I wanted it.
Did this process a couple of times until when I opened up a new window it came up to the size I wanted.

Unix window sizing

Hi,
I ran into the window sizing on the Unix box.
When I ran my application on window environment, all
the windows appeared OK. However, when I ran my
application on the Unix box, the windows shrunk
dramatically. Sometimes, I could even see the words
on the window.
Is there a way to fix this?

we use AIX 4.3.x on IBM and see the same problems on Motif 2.1.
1. Forte supports up to 3.0.N only Motif 1.2 on Unix-Platforms. At 3.0.N some
UNIX-OS's are supported with Motif 2.1.
2. The size of text depends on what font you has installed at UNIX Platform.
You are able to change the default Fonts at X11 and the available sizes of
fonts. X11 use at standard less fonts and font-sizes and maybe only 16
colors.
Because more colors and fonts increase the memory usage of X11.
3. All widgets, which are designed for WINDOWS are converted at X11/Motif.
(e.g. List-View, Tree-View)
4. The functionality of 'size to parent' and other behaviours of
grid-fields differ
at X11/Motif.
Solution: 1. You design the look and feel of the graphic client at UNIX-side.
2. You don't use WINDOW-specific widgets.
3. You migrate to Motif 1.2 at UNIX-side if your platform is
not supported
with Motif 1.2 (some other failures may also occur at
2.1 which may occur
a stack-backtrace error).
4. Set FORTE_STACK_SIZE at UNIX >= 100.000
5. See technotes at cyber-support for specific problems at Motif
Summary:
You will see, the graphical support at Motif (also keyboard specific
behaviours) must
be adjusted at X11/Motif before a synonym usage like WINDOWS is available.
You will see that Forte does not prefer Motif as favourite graphical client.
Don't be worry, you are able to adjust a lot of things in X11/Motif to have
a look
and feel like WINDOWS. LINUX has a graphical interface (fvwm) which simulates
the same behaviours of graphical interfaces like WINDOWS. This is only done
by adjustement of X11-parameters and ini-files.

AIX v Windows Sizing Guide?

XI31 SP3
There's a windows sizing guide (3.0) however, not one for an AIX implementation. Can anyone please offer any thoughts/feedback on an AIX installation as to performance considerations.
Assuming BI System (XI31 SP3), 100 concurrent users, highest concentration on webi reports and dashboards.

Microsoft Fixes Critical Windows Bluetooth Bug in July Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has patched a critical vulnerability in Windows 7 and Windows Vista related to the Bluetooth stack in the operating system. The bug is the lone critical vulnerability fixed in today's Patch Tuesday release, and Microsoft officials said it's unlikely that it can be used for remote code execution.
The patch for MS11-053 fixes a vulnerability in the way that the Bluetooth stack operates on Windows machines. Despite the low likelihood of it being exploited, it's the most serious of the 22 vulnerabilities Microsoft fixed on Tuesday.

RH10 and Windows 8 Bug with DHTML

I reported the following bug today:
Concise problem statement:
All DHTML effects in WebHelp—with the sole exception of drop-down and expanding hotspots—fail to execute on CLEAN Windows 8 systems (upgraded Windows 8 systems from Windows 7 do not seem to be affected), regardless of default browser.
Steps to reproduce bug:
Set up any DHTML effect other than drop-down or expanding.
Save topic and click “View Selected Item”.
The following script error is thrown: “Unable to get property ‘alpha’ of undefined or null reference” — the error points to the ehlpdhtm.js file (in my case, line 4233, char 2).
Results: No DHTML in the WebHelp output execute, with the exception of drop-down and expanding text.
Expected results: DHTML displays as developed (and yes, "Update DHTML effects in topics" was run). It is important to note that all these effects display as expected when run from a Windows 7 machine.
I noticed this after being forced to format and reinstall my system drive, on which I'd previously done an in-place upgrade to Windows 8. There was no issue unitl I'd done a clean install of the OS, implying that something carried over from the Windows 7 setup to prevent the error.
I've tested this against IE10, Firefox, and Chrome with the same results: DHTML effects (such as Fly-in) don't work and, worse, whatever the effect is attached to does not display.
If anyone else is having this issue, it would be good to report it. If anyone has a possible fix or workaround, I'll be glad to be a test monkey.

I'm having the exact same problem with Robohelp 9 on Windows 7. My error message says: The value of the property "TextPopupInit is null or undefined, not a Function object"
I click Yes to the question "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page" and the page previews fine. I open the page in a web browser, and it also works fine.

Photoshop CS4 in Windows 7 bug runing batch actions

I been using Photoshop CS4 in Vista with no problems, but now my problem is when I installed windows 7 and opened 60 photos and apply an action and try to do other things while PS is working in the batch, when I try to change to other window I get back to Photoshop until it finishes the action batch task to the 60 photos I can't change of window or use anything else did anyone have the same problem ? Is this a Windows 7 or PS bug ?

10.4.11 update and remote window sizing

Very odd problem has popped up this evening:
I upgraded a user's G5 iMac from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11, everything seems fine except for using remote control software such as ARD 3.2.1 and Timbuktu 8.7.
When I first attempted to log into the machine after the update using Timbuktu, the machine was responding extremely slow and I figured out why. The window was not sizing correctly. It was off by about 3 horizontal pixel lines. So whenever you moved the cursor, it had to redraw the screen over and over as it attempted to resize inside the window. I turned off fit to window and it did the same thing. Basically making the machine unusable in a remote setting. I updated to Timbuktu 8.7 from 8.6, but this did not fix the problem.
So I used the ARD machine to log in remotely. Oddly, I had the exact same problem. The response time was much better and I could do a little more, but still it was sluggish as it shifted the desktop back and forth as it attempted to redraw the screen any time I shifted the mouse up or down.
Has anyone else had any problems with using ARD and the 10.4.11 update? I am using ARD Admin 3.2 and client 3.2.1

I did try one thing: I logged off and back in as the "remote" user - the user account I had setup when I installed ARD on all the machines. When I do that, it works fine. Log back in as the main user, screen does the wacky scaling thing. Are there any particular prefs or files that control this that reside in the user's folder?

AIR window mode bug? How to use the mouse when transparent?

Hey there,
I'm trying to build a transparent desktop application in AIR and have set the window mode to transparent.
The mouseposition and mouseevents only work when the mouse hovers over a visible movieclip but not on the background.
How can I fix that? Or is it an bug like some people say?
Also in fullscreen mode the stage is a LOT bigger than the actual screen.. i already set:
stage.scaleMode= StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
but it doesn't help at all.

Are you attaching your mouse handlers to the stage? If not, try it -- that's the typical way to capture mouse events within the entire flash player window. I'm not 100% it works with a NativeWindow set to transparent, though, since the main purpose of transparent window background is to simulate a non-rectangle window. If you want to have a transparent background but still act like a rectangular window you can probably just add a transparent rectangle (alpha=0, visible=true) to capture mouse events.

PSE8 and Windows 7 Bugs Confirmed by Adobe

After spending over an hour with tech support, the second level technician confirmed that there are currently some incompatibilities with PSE 8 when interacting with other programs inside of Windows 7. Specifically, I have identified (and Adobe confirmed) that neither the Photo Mail nor the Ceiva functions will work correctly. Others (such as mail attachment) do work. All apparently work with Vista and other OSs.
I was told that there are certain bridging files that existed in Windows Vista (and XP) that no longer exist in Windows 7. Adobe is aware of the problem and working on a patch. It's not clear to me why they didn't post this information (and any other known bugs) in the Knowledgebase...but I hope this saves others some time with tech support.
Adobe did not give me any commitment for when the fix will be available.

Very interesting. I DID get photo mail to work when I did the right-click administrator procedure. It did NOT work when I
created a new adminstrator level user though. I'm not sure what the difference is in how Windows 7 handles these.
This did NOT, however, solve the CEIVA problem.

Lumia 1020 Windows Key bug after Denim Update

I recently updated my WP 8.1 OS to Lumia Denim. Looks like there is a serious bug in the update. Sometimes when an application is open like messages, whatsapp, cortana search and then when you click on windows button, instead of going to home screen the application is refreshing. Its really annoying. Please let me know how to fix this issue.

You may try doing it by going to Store > ... > settings > check for updates. If this did not work, try performing the workarounds provided on this link: My phone does not work or respond as expected.
