Dear Experts,
Currently we are hosting SCOM 2012 SP1 on Windows 2012 Operating System and the Server team plan to upgrade Windows server OS 2012 to Windows OS 2012 R2.
So, Is there any Potential road blocks and things to take care for SCOM 2012 SP1 if we want to upgrade the Windows 2012 R2 OS.
Thanks,
Saravana

Hi,
I have seen this a couple of times without any issues.
Just make sure you backup all SCOM related (databases if local, management packs etc).

For a KMShost with the OS=WS2012R2, you cannot, and, there is no need to, install any other Windows KMShost keys. The WS2012R2 KMShost key, by itself, will activate the KMShost OS, and will also enable the issuing of activations for ALL Windows KMSclients.
Office KMS features are different, and do need to be installed for Office KMSclient activations.
The error you are experiencing is expected, and is a result of your attempt to perform an unnecessary configuration step.

  • Best Practice restart HyperV host with WinSrv 2012 R2 virtualized DC

I would like to know if restarting a HyperV host with a virtual 2012 DC on it is supported with the standard Hyperv VM settings:
Automatic Stop Option “Save the Virtual Machine state"
Automatic Start Option “Automatically start if it was running when the service stopped”
So basically the state of the virtual DC will be saved and written to disk and it will start when the HyperV services are started after the restart of the host.
Is this way supported or wise or should I shutdown the virtual DC manually and start the DC manually whenever the host is up and running again?

    > Automatic Stop Option “Save the Virtual Machine state"
    Change this to "shutdown".

  • Windows 10 Upgrade Checked PC Shows Issues With Drivers

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D, running Windows 7 Home Premiumwith the Service Pack 1 (SP1), 64 bit operating system. When I open up the Windows 10 Upgrade Reservation window, I clicked on the button on the upper left hand corner which open up a side panel on the left hand side. I go down and click on "Check your PC." It then gives me the message "This PC can be upgraded but there may be some issues." Because of those issues the following devices might not work properly, Those devices are, "Terminal Service Keyboard Driver" and "Terminal Server Mouse Driver."
I posted this same message over at the Microsoft forums and someone told me to check with Toshiba to see if there are any drivers or patches that need to be updated. I've checked here at Toshiba and thus far there are no updated drivers or patches I need to download. In fact here at the Toshiba forums they have set up a thread with links that lead to Microsoft for anyone who has questions about Windows 10. It appears no one from either side knows what any of this means or how to resolve it.
Does this mean I won't be able to download this free upgrade to Windows 10? Or can I still download the free upgrade to Windows 10 but have to download separate drivers? If I have to download separate drivers where do I download the proper ones that are compatible for my computer and Windows 10?
So my original questions still stands. All help will be appreciated!

Someone will say "Post your full model number and part number from the sticker on the bottom" and I apparently got here first, so I might as well post that.    That way, people know the full specs of your machine. I didn't get that hardware check when I clicked the white window icon.   I just got a screen to input my email address.(eta:   I went back and found that, clicked it.   It found no hardware issues.   It said the Toshiba DVD player might not work.  Try running the Win8 upgrade assistant and see what it says, because it might provide more detail.) There is a Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, and apparently they say use that to check your hardware for Win 10.  I ran it on my L505-ES5034 an early i3 Windows 7 machine.   It didn't find any issues.    I ran it on my U505-S2012 or whatever it is, Windows 7 machine with a touch screen, and it told me that the touch screen may possibly not be compatible with Windows 8.    There are different requirements for Win8 touch screen vs. Win7, though.  But I didn't get any warmings about terminal services, which I associate with remote access. Jerry Lippey and I are running the Win 10 evaluation builds on older Core2 Duo machines.   Mine is a 2009 or 2010 model.  I really haven't seen any hardware issues.  I've had numerous problems with Cortana and start menu and desktop stop working and refuse to restart, though.

  • Issues with SCOM 2012 Agent on Red Hat 5 Server

We are running SCOM 2012 server and have deployed the agent successfully to a number of Red Hat Linux servers. I am having an issue on about a quarter of the hosts, in that they appear as HEALTHY but are Grayed out and not green. When I look at the /var/opt/microsoft/scx/log/omiserver.log

I have verified that the system account is setup with the correct password and the runas account is setup with the correct password (i am able to deploy the agent from the SCOM server using it, so the passwords DO match).
    Any ideas?

I've seen this on a few systems here when the agent has been upgraded but the old agent process does not die off.  Just to rule it out, pick a node, make sure there are no instances of scxcimserver or scxcimprovagt and then start the agent and
see if the issue goes away.  I've also seen wsman authentication failures related to the libssl issue that was fixed in yesterday's release.

  • Issues with Monitoring Azure services with SCOM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to setup monitoring of our Azure subscriptions in a new installation of Operations Manager 2012 R2 which is running in-house as it is also monitoring our internal services.  I've used the guide below:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walterm/archive/2013/04/13/first-impressions-on-system-center-management-pack-for-windows-azure-fabric-preview-for-scom-2012-sp1.aspx
This has all worked OK and I've been able to add the subscription into OP Manager and it's found the cloud service, storage and VM's.  However when I try to add the monitoring and I go to create this When I select the Add option in the Add Monitoring
Wizard and click the Search button to list the components (Cloud Service, Storage and VM's) nothing is found despite me having already selected the subscription.
Has anyone else experienced this or can offer any advice?
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
Which version of RDP client you are using for your client?
Does more user login at same period of time?
As you have commented that after sticking the user can’t able to login in RDCB server, here I can suggest you to check the setting of connection broker. Also you can check that you have place the proper location path of UPD while configuring in collection configuration
wizard. You can take a look at below article foe virtual desktop configuration.
Deploying Virtual Desktops with Windows Server 2012
Are you trying to use same UPD for different collection then also it might happens to occur your issue. The fact of UPD is User profile disks are for a single collection only. A user connecting to two different collections will have two separate profiles. If
you want to synchronize settings, refer to Microsoft User Experience Virtualization. Go through this article for more understanding related to UPD.

    Hope it helps!

  • EM 12C Integration with SCOM 2012

    Hi
Has anyone integrated EM12C ( running on Solaris Sparc ) with MS SCOM 2012 ? Just looking for any hints / tips /issues ... etc ...
    Any thoughts appreciated.
    Regards
    Rob

If the integration is along the lines of forwarding events from Enterprise Manager 12c to SCOM, then we are currently finalizing an event connector for SCOM 2012. It will enable the sending of events from Enterprise Manager to SCOM.

  • SCCM 2012 integration with SCOM 2012 - Disable Alerts during patching

Have SCCM 2012 R2 and SCOM 2012 R2 and use the Software Update Patching process for servers.  When using the checkbox to "Disable Operations Manager Alerts when this program runs" option have noticed on completion of the job and the target
server is rebooted, a scheduled task appears for a short time titled "SCOM 2007 Agent Resume Task".  The task disappears and there is no history to view.
Is this a legacy naming convention from 2007 world when the maintenance mode is turned off from the SCCM patching process?
How do I see the actual code behind the SCCM and SCOM integration with Maintenance mode to validate it.

SCCM should use the following SCOM SDK to do that.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb437532.aspx
That's incorrect. There is no API or method to put an OpsMgr agent into maintenance mode on the client itself -- maintenance mode is a centrally controlled feature of OpsMgr. The API/code sample you linked is performing that activity on the management server
which assumes you know the management server name and have permissions to carry out the action -- neither of which is fulfilled by the ConfigMgr agent.
The ConfigMgr agent pauses the OpsMgr client agent service and also unloads the workflows from the OpsMgr agent (it only did the first part in ConfigMgr 2007). This effectively puts the agent in Maintenance Mode (although to my knowledge this is not directly
    reflected in the OpsMgr console).

  • Monitoring services on MSMQ cluster with SCOM 2012

    Hello guys,
I'm looking a way that SCOM 2012 is able to monitor several services installed on MSMQ cluster. I think it's possible that SCOM 2012 can generate alert through the message queuing service associated to these services but this is an indirect monitoring. I
would want that SCOM generates the alert for the specific service in problem.
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you very much.

  • How to setup Tiering with SCOM 2012 class libraries?

    Hi All,
I've two SCOM servers installed in two different machines and SCOM will have some alerts. I want to connect the two so that one acts as top tier and other one as lower tier. The top tier will show all the alerts from the lower tier in
the connected alerts. From there I'm passing the alerts to external system for processing. I want to establish the tiering programmatically using the SCOM 2012 API. I know of method
TieringManagement.AddTier Method (String, ManagementGroupConnectionSettings, SecureData, Boolean)
Help me how can I achieve this by using the above method.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Weblogic Monitoring with SCOM 2012

    Hello,
I need to monitor WebLogic 10.3 installed on Windows Server 2008 SP2 so I added these MP :
    Microsoft.JEE.WebLogic.Library.mp
    Microsoft.JEE.WebLogic.10gR3.mp
    Microsoft.JEE.Library.mpb
    Microsoft.JEE.Templates.Library.mpb
And I created a specific basic account (with administrator application rights) that I linked to the JEE Monitoring Account Profile.
I checked in the Event Viewer and I got : Event 1109 - All credential references resolved successfully.
But when I can't see anything in the Weblogic Application Servers specific views. And in the Heath Explorer of my server I have this :
For information, I don't get any error in the event viewer about this.
    Can someone help ? Thanks.

    1) What is the exact version of WebLogic that you're installing?
    WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.0.0
    2) In the WebLogic installation root, there is a registry.xml file. What is the version
    listed for the Xpath: /bea-product-information/host/product/release?
    <release level="10.3" ServicePackLevel="0" PatchLevel="0" Status="installed" BeaProgramGroup="Oracle WebLogic" StartMenu="C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs"
    InstallTime="Oct 17, 2008 5:10:52 PM" InstallDir="D:\bea10.3" JavaHome="D:\bea10.3\jdk160_05" JavaVersion="1.6.0_05" JavaVendor="Sun">
    3) In the domain, is there a domain-registry.xml?  If so, what are its contents?
In the domain, domain-registry.xml is missing.
    4) Are there managed servers on that WebLogic domain & the same machine?  If
    so, have they been discovered?
Yes there is a managed server on that Weblogic domain on the same machine, no it hasn't been
    discovered.
    5)
What do you mean by "There is no monitoring of Weblogic admin servers". Here the monitoring needs of our application admin :
    connections per application
Weblogic server status (running / problem /other)
    JVM Memory
    6) You mentioned that you enabled unit monitors, can you clarify specifically which unit monitors you enabled?
    7) Have you tried the PowerShell script yet & did that work?
    Not yet. I will try.
