Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Battery Problem

My laptop has a weird hardware problem. Although it is plugged in to a power supply and charging, it is not recognize as it is charging by the OS. But I am 100% sure that it is charging as my laptop could run forever with the power supply plugged in.
I would like to know is there anyway to get pass the part where the Installer ask for the laptop to be plugged to a power supply. Because it wouldn't let me pass that page! It is very frustrating!
Please help me, I have no idea how to solve this problem! Thanks :)

I had a similar problem. Replacement power adapter charges the battery just fine but it's never recognized as being "connected" by the laptop.
I couldn't install SP1 for Win7 because the laptop "thought" it was running on only batteries.
Here's a work-around that worked for me:
   Open Device Manager.
   Open Batteries category.
Right-click on Microsoft Battery ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and
Uninstall it.
Immediately launch Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 or another program that "requires" an A/C connection.
Upon restarting the computer, the Microsoft Battery ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery component automatically was detected and reinstalled.

  • Windows Xp Service Pack 2 Firewall Problem

I'm trying to connect 9i Database. If the firewall option of Windows Xp Service Pack 2 is turned off, then it can connect. But if it is turned on, it can't connect. I tried to open port 1521 in settings but I think I can't succeed. How can I configure the firewall to connect database server?

Hi, I've also had this problem and I found that the easiest way to resolve it is to go to control panel, Windows Firewall, Exceptions and Add Program. The programs that you need to add is oracle.exe and tnslsnr.exe(they should be in the bin directory of your ORACLE_HOME directory).
    Good luck

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.
Here is a link that will take you directly to the Tech Note:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328730
When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me).

  • G580 wireless device not recognized in windows Xp service pack 3

I have installed windows xp service pack 3 and the laptop cannot detect the wlan device when i check in the hardware/device manager/network adapter , i also get a message when i turnon my laptop from the wlan adapter that the drivers are missing. I have downloaded the wireless drivers from the  lenovo support website i.e. WLAN (Liteon, Cybertan) and when i am trying to install the drivers a error pops up saying "BCM4313 : cannot find setup file". So please guide me to resolve this issue, i also installed wimax but it says the wimax device is not found.

    Hi vijeth,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community,
Based from your post here this does seem to be a driver issues impacting your Broadcom wireless card that has been fitted into your machine. This Error code is actually wide spread across different Manufacturers that has the Broadcom wireless installed. At this point it is uncertain what the exact solution is. Some have rectified the issue by doing a windows update and it had installed the broadcom drivers and that had solved the issue.
Currently there are some solutions that has help some of the users. Especially from the thread below.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Company I work for just got some new MSDN CD & DVD's and included in the pack was the official Windows Vista Service Pack 1 DVD. Just curious if anyone else has tried it with Boot Camp and had any issues? Was considering installing it but just wanted to check the forums to see what's up.

The general public release of Vista SP1 is out today and supposedly available through Windows Update, yet it does not appear as an available update when I check for it. Microsoft says that will happen in a number of cases, one being if there are incompatible drivers installed (which Microsoft knows about presumably). I'm wondering if anyone running Vista via Boot Camp has been able to access SP1 through Windows Update. It can also be downloaded, but I don't want to try it if it's not going to work. Another problem might be that I only have around 1.75 gigabytes left on the Windows partition. Any advice appreciated.

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installation

    HI,
When i deploy Service Pack1 for windows 7 via SCCM, it gets installed in client machines. But when they restart, they are not getting the message "windows 7 service pack 1 is now installed" while logging in. But OS version is changed and in the
ARP, it shows the entry. When i login in the same machine (my ID has admin rights), this message is showing up.
Problem is when i target this machine in IE 9 collection, it is not getting deployed till the time i login in the client machine and click close in the message box. please suggest me what we should do to resolve this.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Raja

How did you deploy the SP1? via SUP or Software Distribution? What version does the System Properties show if you use the normal user's credential to open it? If it does show Windows 7 with SP1. It means the SP1 is installed successfully.
I assume the pop-up is just a reminder to tell us the SP1 finishes installing and somehow it needs admin or system account credential so that the normal user cannot see it.

  • Drivers for HP2000C printer to run on Windows XP Service Pack 2

I am trying to reinstall an HP2000C printer on Windows XP Service Pack 2. When I insert CD a message says "Your operating system is not supported by this program". Problem I am having is that when I try to print a PDF file the printer cycles but does not print. I can print o.k. from Word or other programs. Could it be the PDF set up that is causing the problem.  Hope somebody can provide me with an answer. Waiting hopefully.

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • Rescue And Recovery On Clean Install Of Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hey,
I have recently purchased a refurbised IBM ThinkPad T40 2373-82M laptop computer. When I received the computer it did not have any recovery partition or recovery CD's that came with it. I then installed my own personal copy of Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the machine and installed drivers and applications individually by downloading them off the Lenovo support website. However, I have attempted to install the latest version of the ThinkVantage Rescue And Recovery Program (Version 4.20) on my computer but I end up with the following error: 'There is not enough free space on the computer to install or upgrade the Rescue and Recovery environment'. When I did a full clean install on the system I deleted all partitions that were on the computer at the time during the Windows XP installation and made a single NTFS partition. There were two 20GB partitions on the hard drive when I bought it, but neither of them were the IBM Rescue and Recovery partition. Could it be possible for me to install this software on my laptop, and make a Rescue and Recovery partition, now and make it the same way it would of been when it left the IBM factory?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ash.

  • No GMail found using FF 17.0.1 with Windows XP Service Pack 3

I recently made FF my primary browser. iGoogle is my homepage. Using an older PC with Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I have a gadget on my homepage for GMail, but it won't open up for me, nor can I manually go to Gmail. The message I get in the Gadget box is:

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro A10,Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hi everyone,
    I have a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4-M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB/768 MB".
I installed the Windows XP Service pack-2 in my notebook.
After updating to winXP SP2, the only way to start up my comp after putting it in "standby mode" or "hibernation mode" is to witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver" but nothing came of it.
What can i do about it?
    Kind regards,
    Krasteff

    Hi Krasteff
Your problem is difficult. If I had it, I'd try to make the status of the OS as clean as possible.
Try killing as many of the funny SYSTRAY applications as possible - means the small icons in the SYSTRAY. Some of them will not be killed that easily. Don't spend hours trying...
Then also try killing any, as You mentioned, antivirus or other services that are not necessary for the system. Check also that You do not have any USB / PC Card devices attached to the system.
    Then try again.
Works better? Then "walk backwards" means try attaching the devices / starting the applications one by one and retry Hibernating. Keep track of what You reconnect/restart so You know what You did last when the system fails to start up again. There You have the cause of the problem and then You also know where to look for the solution.
    Hope it helps!
    BR Tom

  • Cumulative Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 Warning!

Not sure how many of you guys remember the problems associated with the Windows XP Service Pack 2 when it was first released, but the latest Cumulative Security patch completely disabled my Plextor 708A DVD drive and locked up Windows Explorer.
    Here is the problem patch:
o Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB883939)
It caused my Plextor 708A to give off two blinking Amber lights, which according to Plextor indicates the drive is defective.  Plextor actually tells you to get a RMA ticket and to return the drive.  Luckily I found it odd that my DVD drive became defective after I installed the latest windows update and tried uninstalling the 'fixes' before going that route.  Fortunately, removal of one of the 'fixes' solved my problem.
If you find that your DVD or CD Player no longer works after doing a windows update, then do the following:
     o Go to Control Panel
     o Select Add Remove Programs
o Scroll to the bottom and select Security Update for Windows XP (KB883939)
     o Click 'Remove'
     o Restart your computer
I might not have the latest security fix right now, but at least my computer is running.
Stu:  Can you report this to MSI and have them get in touch with M$?

i will, if this is a problem affecting a lot of users.
has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2

My company is considering deploying windows XP Service Pack 2. Does anyone know of any compatability issues after the updates have been applied? I'm wondering if IE is going to have any problems with the source pages generated by Plumtree. I understand that the service pack includes several changes to IE.

I've been using 4.5 WS SP 2 for a few days now without incident. My client workstation is running Win XP SP 2 with the updated IE. Don't know about 5.x, but I haven't noticed a difference on 4.5 WS.
You should review the documents Microsoft put out regarding the IE updates. For the mostpart you should be fine. If you have embedded Active-X controls or java you might see issues with security warnings. This document might be helpful to you (there's a better one, but I can't seem to find the link...):
