Windows doesnt read ipod

when i connect my ipod to my computer it is not read. it charges but i cant see it in itunes. this happens on my computer, my parents computer, and my wifes laptop. my wife who uses the same usb cable has no problem with any of the computers. my ipod works fine, i just cant put new music on it.

Try this link, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711 it addresses iPods not appearing in iTunes. I suspect that you may need to Restore it, though a simple Reset MAY be sufficient.

I am having more trouble with my nano and itunes. I am syncing my ipod and itunes is showing that the transfer of songs from my library is in process, but when its finished (after about half an hour) I disconnect my ipod, but there are no songs on my ipod. Though they are showing on itunes that they have been transferred.
Anyone out there got any ideas??!?

  • Windows not reading ipod nano?!?!?!?!

when i plug in my ipod nano into my computer, the computer screen freezes for a while, then the error message, "ipod has been detected, but cannot be identified properly, please unplug and try again" comes up. i have 'unplugged' numerous times, and the same error message comes up. the ipod is not detected by itunes, and just automatically ejects itself.

I am assuming that you have Administrator privileges on your system. If not, you will need them.
Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, then T to open the Task Manager.
    Click on the Processes tab.
Scroll down until you see iPodService.exe.
Click on it to highlight it.
Click on End Process at the lower right corner of the box.
Congratulations, you've just stopped the IPod service.

  • Windows not reading iPOD

I have an IPOD shuffle and it was working fine with my PC until yesterday. Now none of my laptops can read what's on it. I've tried on multiple computers. Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

This appears to be a very common problem (at least from looking through all the posts here). I've spent two weeks trying things, and I'm just about at the point of concluding this is a design problem, and that there is no solution.

  • HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j009wm Doesnt read USB Flash Drive After Downgrade to Windows 7

I Have Downgraded Installed Windows 7 Through Flash Drive But i need help. Windows 7 Doesnt read my Flash Drive anymore? It can read my USB Keyboard but doesnt read USB Flash Drive.  I Have no Internet On The Computer, So that means i cant update my drivers. And i have some drivers in my flash drive i want to install, but i cant.  I have read this: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/HP-ENVY-TouchSmart-15-j040us/td-p/4576592 It doesnt do me any good anymore because i cant acces my drivers from USB

Hi: Looking at your other posts it appears you have painted yourself into a corner. Since there is no legacy or auto USB setting in the BIOS, your only option would be to remove the hard drive, put it in a USB to sata notebook hard drive enclosure, plug it into another PC so it can be read, download the applicable drivers you need and copy them to you user profile on the removed hard drive. The service manual, chapter 5 provides the removal and replacement procedures for the hard drive. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03733656 Reinstall the hard drive, run the drivers, and you should be good to go. These would be the drivers you need for your model... SM bus controller:  Install this first and reboot. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=cp_127691_1 USB3:  Install both of these and reboot. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943835&swItemId=ob_139250_1&swEnvOid=4058 http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6943835&swItemId=ob_133037_1&swEnvOid=4058

  • Itunes doesnt recognise Ipod, Ipod updater doesnt recognise Ipod

As said, Im new and just bought the ipod 30gb and I tried whatever is said in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 and still doesnt work.
Ipod shows up in the Windows explorer and in the WIndows Task Manager, but not in Itunes nor Ipod updater as connected.
I tried to download older versions of Ipod updater and itunes, because I read it was working for some people, but cannot download them in any place. And at last, I wonder if there is any problem using USB 1.1 I dunno what else I can do, Im ****** off :/

Ok, I had the same problem for months but I have just fixed it!! Here is the problem I had and my solution:
    Problem:
    1. Ipodservice was not loading when windows xp boots up
    2. In Events Viewer, System, there was he error "DCOM got error "193 is not a valid Win32 application. " attempting to start the service iPodService with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server:"
    3. As a result, itunes can't see the ipod and I was unable to update it for many months
    FIX:
    1. The problem for me was that windows cannot find ipodservice.exe because there is a space in the path that it resides in: C:\Program Files\iPod\bin
    2. This is a problem that Microsoft has documented (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812486/)
    3. Open up Regedit.exe
    4. Goto "HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service\IpodService"
    5. Double-click on ImagePath on the right
    6. Add double quotations around the ipodservice path(ie. "C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe")
    7. Close regedit
    8. Goto Start-Administrative Tools-Services
    9. Scroll to Ipodservice and double-click
    10. Set startup type to "automatic" if not already
    11. Click on "Start" to start the service
    12. Now run itunes; you should be able to connect now to your ipod!

  • My wife's nano no longer is recognized by Windows but my ipod touch is?  How can I fix this?

My wife's nano no longer is recognized by Windows but my ipod touch is?  How can I fix this?

My iPod touch is always recognized by my Vista Box...using the same USB cable and port my wife's nano isn't detected anymore.  Since Vista can't see the nano iTunes can't see it either.  When I try my wife's nano I get the message:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows doesn't recognize it.  For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
I thought her nano wasn't charged enough but I've charged it for hours and this doesn't make a difference.  It used to synch like my ipod touch but it stopped working about a week ago.  My wife's nano still holds songs and works it just can't be recognized by Windows.  I even checked if the Apple Mobile Device app was running and it was and I stopped it and restarted it.  Didn't make any difference.  Any ideas?

  • Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How do I change this so itunes can see it?

Windows thinks my ipod touch is a digital camera. How can I change the device in windows, so that i can re-register it as an ipod and itunes can connect with it.?

It is normal for the iPod to be seen as a camera since that is how one gets photo off the iPod.  You can turn it off by:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Disabling digital camera notification in Windows XP
To get iTunes to see you iPod see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you previoulys installed camera or scanner software that may be causing the problem.

    Hi-
Try downloading and installing the Patchburn Utility. It might help your media reading. I assume this is a disk that someone burned? Could be your drive doesn't like the media, itself, or the burn speed was too high for your 5x DVD=ROM to read.
If Patchburn doesn't help, may be time to move up to a more modern drive to replace your antique.....
There is a real nice,Pioneer DVR-112 replacement you might consider.
