Windows Server 2008R2 profile unload impossible due to Temp "Z@.." files

Hi,
We are supporting many environments for different customers.
Unfortunately they all share the same issue, which is caused by the combination of Windows Server 2008R2 and Adobe Reader 11.
The files are located in "C:\Users\Some-User\AppData\Local\Temp\2\acrord32_sbx\[email protected]"
There are many folders, for one user sometimes up to 20 folders (user.domain.001, user.domain.002 etc), collecting up to wazoo.
Removing hotfixes do not solve the issue, neither does the two provided acroct.ini files (to be placed in \windows\ folder).
All Servers are up2date on Windows update, conform a Patch Policy we maintain.
We have tried removing Windows updates, ofcourse with a deny on the patch policy so that it doesnt return, but the issue stays occurring.
I'd prefer to have this issue resolved by installing a patch - Instead of removal of patches.
As I am searching for a way to directly contact Adobe Support, I could only opt-in on this forum to get support afaik.
If needed, I can put down more information ofcourse.
Server info:
Hypervisor: VMware 5.1
OS:     Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (used as Terminal Server, one of 5 servers total)
RAM:     12GB Memory
Adobe Reader version:     Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06)
Anyone who can help out get professional support, please don't hesitate to respond.
Regards, Michael

I have read many many articles for this issue.
Outcome is, like from this Blog, Adobe has to re-code Reader.
We have tried alot of ways to get this fixed, but neither uninstalling MS Patches, nor the AcroCT.ini files (yes both) are a fix for us.
If Adobe Reader needs to use temporary fonts for printing the PDF files, they have to Force unload and clean up the temporary fonts/files. (Font Installation and Deletion (Windows))
Since MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 27, 2014 there is a new behavior for Font and Font Resource installation/deletion.
Since Adobe Reader has NO support channel, NO way of contacting other than the forums:
How on earth could we get this to be fixed in a new release???
Should this message be posted on all threads for this annoying issue?
We are facing this problem with over 10 customers on over 600 Remote Desktop Servers - No way I am going to remove patch #1 from August 2014, which is being re-deployed in a newer fix every month..
The root cause is the programming in Adobe, which had been conform Microsoft's wishes, but this behavior change in removal has to be remarked to Adobe...
Regards and awaiting a way into the developers part on Adobe Reader.

  • Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer

Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer, And when Installing network printers from the domain controller it reports it cannot connect to printer.  I can ping all
network devices. I can connect to the internet.
On boot I get a netlogon 5719 error followed by service control manager errors 7023,7001 and a group policy error 1129.
Clients can connect to the remote application and RDP operates to connect to the server internally and externally.
The domain controller is another server 2008r2 box. I have scoured the internet but have not found any solutions that work yet.

    Hi,
After referring to your post, it can be identified that the issue which you are facing is mostly due to some network issue in your environment. Please recheck your network connection issue between computer and domain controller.
Can you able to ping with IP address and also with fully qualified name of a domain controller in the users' and computers' domain. If it fails states that name resolution issue with computer and domain controller. Are you using MS DHCP Relay agent then there’s
available Hotfix for the particular Event ID. Please go through this KB 2459530 to fix the error event ID.
As per the net logon error 5719 which you are facing states that the client component of Netlogon was unable to locate a DC for the domain it was trying to perform an operation against. Below is one of the reason. If this is being logged on a DC and the event
refers to the DC's own domain, something might be preventing the client component of Netlogon from starting a network session (to itself or to another DC in the domain). The following event 7001 & 7023 states start & stop operation service. Please
go through beneath article for more details.
    1.  Event ID 5719 is logged when you start a computer
    2.  Netlogon 5719 and the Disappearing Domain [Controller]
    3.  Event ID 1129 — Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy
    Hope it helps!

  • System Cache Issues with Windows Server 2008R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to deploy Java version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_14-b03) on a new Windows Server 2008R2 installation. I want to use the system cache feature and have used it successfully on Windows XP workstations and Windows 2003 servers in the past. I even got it to work on a test Win Server 2008R2 server earlier this week. But on my production machine I can't get the system cache to configure.
I installed Java as usual and it installed into the Program Files(x86) directory. I copied my deployment files to the c:\windows\sun\java\deployment directory.
    Deployment.config contains:
    deployment.system.config=file\:/c\:/windows/sun/java/deployment/deployment.properties
    Deployment.properties contains:
    deployment.user.cachedir=C\:\\Program Files\\HCN
    deployment.user.cachedir.locked
    deployment.system.cachedir=C\:\\Program Files\\HCN
    deployment.javaws.shortcut="NEVER"
    deployment.javaws.autodownload="NEVER"
Not sure what's missing here especially since it worked fine the other day.
Both of these servers are virtual, VMware ESX 3.5 and were created from the same template. Only real difference is the production system will be a XenApp application server so it has XenApp installed.
Error I'm getting is that in Javaws it reports that the system cache is not configured and every time I launch my application it has to download from the source because we are deleting the local profiles when the user logs out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Linn

    >    I just wanted to know whether there will be any sort of communication or support issues between PROD and DEVE systems with such diverse configurations.
    No.
You could even use HP-UX on the DEV system - as long as you're able to share a common directory to ensure transporting it's not a problem. Transports are OS and DB independent.
However, memory management and security in Windows 2008 changed significantly, you may have to use different configurations for W2K8 vs. W2K3.

  • Audio service hangs on Windows Server 2008R2 with Remote Desktop Services

    Hello!
I have some terminal servers on Windows Server 2008R2. Users have the ability to use web browsers (IE, Firefox) with the included Flash Player, IM clients / Internet
telephony (Skype, ICQ), Windows Media Player, Office, and a specific internal software (works with MS SQL). I have the following problem: the Windows audio service hangs up that leads to hangup of all programs which use it, such as: any sites in Internet with
a flash content (in all browsers), ICQ, Skype.Even logging out the session hung when tried to lose a sound. It's impossible to stop or restart service from the services.msc the service just hang with status "restarting". To stop service I terminate svchost
process. As soon as the audio service is stopped - all programs start to work correctly (certainly without a sound). This problem appeared not suddenly - periodic hangups of programs on servers were marked long ago (more than half a year), but not directly
were connected to audio service, especially there were they rather rare (on the average once a week - two) and were corrected by server reset. The error message:

shall suggest an idea about a sound service, but in Event Viewer has no Windows Audio events.
Recently I updated Skype to the last version 6.0.66.120. Before was 4.2.35.155 because versions 5хх on Windows2008R2 with the Remote Desctop Services actually don't
work, if users at the server more than one or two. We checked the sixth version by the test machine with the terminal environment and very were delighted to its normal working capacity. However after installation of this client on production servers it appeared
that hangups of programs on servers began to occur on the average time at an o'clock in case of an average daily load (about 20 users on one server). If you have worked one or two users, problems weren't watched. Internet search led me to the support page
Skype, where the Windows 7 x64 user faced a similar problem in the fifth version of the program. But the solutions proposed by the support team does not help me. In addition, I found the advice to disable enhancements in the properties of the playback device,
but it is impossible for the "Remote Audio" device.
At the moment, on servers where I updated the Skype, I disabled the audio service. If within a reasonable time, I do not find a solution, I will have to revert
to an older version of Skype, but I would like to solve the problem completely.

Enable the Allow audio and video playback redirection Group Policy setting
To allow audio and video playback when connecting to a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2, you must enable the Allow audio and video playback redirection Group Policy setting. The Allow audio and video playback redirection Group Policy setting is located
in Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Device and Resource Redirection and can be configured by using either Local Group Policy Editor or the Group Policy Management
    Console (GPMC).
For more information about Group Policy settings for Remote Desktop Services, see the Remote Desktop Services Technical Reference (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=138134).
    Is this policy applied? Refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd759165.aspx
Also, have you tried update the audio device driver for this terminal server?

  • Cisco SG 200-08 and Windows Server 2008R2 as Radius

Hello.  I'm having some issues using Cisco SG 200-08 switches for 802.1X authentication. I would be very grateful for some help:
      1. Will Cisco implement any other way to authenticate supplicant port other than EAP-MD5 method? I'm using those switches to implement 802.1X authentication in my network and my RADIUS server is a Windows Server 2008R2 machine. I've actually had to make a registry hack (instructions from:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverNAP/thread/e801bdac-9347-4efb-9d7c-bcf4d64aa927  ) to enable MD5 on WS2008R2. I've alse read that this method is old and insecure and everyone suggest using some safer authentication method but I simply can't. Can someone tell me please will Cisco implement any other authentication methods in those switches or should I buy any other hardware.

    Hello Scott
Thanks a lot for your answer, i have followed the document as example and i had some problems matching the network policy on the NPS due to the NPS has connection request policies and network policies for setting up, understanding that one is for authentication and the other one for authorization,  additionaly, other issue was when duplicated the certificate template, i had to use the certificate issued by default on the CA for requesting a new certificate for the NPS Server.
After days looking for figuring up this issues, it has worked well. As you told me, the configuration on the Wireless Controller was the easy part, the issue come up when i started working on the NPS as Radius Server.
One more thing, for applying FlexConnect or HREAP for the Remote APs that i have distributed on my branch offices, should i use other WLAN configured on the Wireless Controller or with the same WLAN use for all the user is enough applying the parameters for getting work with HREAP?
I would appreciate any help fot getting work with HREAP.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Unable to do Bare Metal Restore on Windows Server 2008R2 Backup from USB Seagate Backup Plus Harddrive

I have done a windows full server backup on to an external Seagate HDD on a Dell PowerEdge T110 II Server running Windows Server 2008 R2
I want to clone this and do a Bare Metal Restore on an identical server at home which has Windows Server 2008 R2 on it.
I boot from the Windows DVD provided, select repair however windows Server 2008 R2 will not find the image of the Seagate drive. The Seagate drive can be seen on the server otherwise. I guess there are options to load the driver, but I don't see them.
Please help. Kind of stuck here
    Thanks

I am using a windows server 2008R2 disk to boot up. Both the servers have windows server 2008R2 on them. I have two licenses for each of the servers. I want to use the server at home as a backup server in case the server in office  goes down. I used
windows server backup to backup the server at work to a portable USB hard drive. I bought the hard drive home and want to clone the server at work. I heard bare metal restore is the best way to do this. So I booted the server at home with the windows server
2008 r2 disk that I have and clicked repair. I had attached my seagate portable drive to the usb port so that the server could find the image of the server at work, however the server cant find the hard drive or the server image. Is it a problem with my usb
hard drive? Do I need a specific type of usb hard drive to do server image backups?
If I let my server at home boot regularly and it comes up, it can see the image on the hard drive so I dont know how to do the bare metal restore. I know it can be done becuase my IT guy did it when he set up both the servers. I just want to periodically
clone them so make sure the server at home is updated with the settings of the server at work.
    Thanks for any help here

Since upgrading to Windows Server 2008R2, I am unable to use File > Open to browse my network for existing Crystal Reports.  I am able to access reports from my recent reports list.  If I use Windows Explorer to try to find/open an existing report file, I'm prompted for the installation disk.  Is this a known issue?  Thanks for your help.

  • Windows Server 2008r2 Printer Sharing

    Hi folks,
I have a Windows Server 2008r2 set up as my workstation and I'd like to share the printer with my wife's MacBook. I've set up Printing Services on WS2008r2 and enabled IPP, LPD and everything else I could think of.
The printer sharing works, our other laptop which is Win7 can use it normally, but setting up the share on a Mac is a whole new kettle of fish.
I couldn't get it to connect via IPP, Mac keeps insisting on port 631 even though IPP is running on port 80 here. I have no idea what to put into the address field, if I copy/paste the URL the Mac doesn't recognise it. If I just put in the server name it's happy but insists on connecting to port 631.
Next came LPD which seems to work, Mac connects to the server and picks up the printer. Which brings me to the next problem. If I use standard generic postscript driver then nothing happens, printer gets switched on on the server and stops. An event log entry reports an LPD error:
"The Line Printer Daemon (LPD) service received commands in an invalid format from 192.168.2.106 and refused the print job. This can occur if the Line Printer Remote (LPR) client is incompatible with the Windows LPD service and Request for Comments (RFC) 1179. Try printing using a different LPR client."
The printer is a Canon Pixma iP5200R. If I switch the printer options from generic postscript to a Canon printer it will print but it only uses about 60% of the space, so everything is shrunk on the page. It does print the full content of the page, just makes everything smaller. I managed to get this far by selecting one of the BJC (Bubblejet) models from the drop-down list.
I've installed Canon's driver for iP5200 from their site but it's not available anywhere on the Mac. How do I tell the Mac to use a different driver?
I feel I'm getting close to fixing this, but now the problem is in Macland and I'm not too familiar with it.
Anyone got any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

I'm going to apologize first because I don't have a real solution and my post will sound negative, but my experience may give some insight.
My experience is that Apple didn't get Windows printing "done right" until 10.5. Prior to that, I could never print to a Canon S800 printer attached to a Vista Ultimate machine. With the printer attached to a XP machine, I could print, but it would often fail. (Just no output and OSX saying printer was offline.) This was with a G3 B&W with 10.3 and a iMac with 10.4. And like you, I did try the IPP and LPD settings but just never got a usable setup.
Then I got a Macbook Pro with 10.5. Printing worked fine straight out of the box to the same S800 printer on Vista. Mac Mini with 10.5 worked also. Upgraded both to 10.6 and printing still works. Even a clean reload of 10.6 on the Macbook, Windows printing is fine. Also to a Epson R280 attached to the same Vista machine.
Windows 2008, having more in common with Vista and Win7, I'd guess that you may be having similar issues to me. I don't know of any fix, other than 10.5. If you have a friend with a newer Mac, then you can test it. (Otherwise, if you can upgrade your Mac to 10.5 or 10.6. But testing with a friend's Mac would save the cost of buying an OSX upgrade if it didn't work.)
Like I said, no real solution, other than possibly upgrading to 10.5/10.6. So maybe just a pointer to a different line of thinking. Good luck!

  • Windows Server 2008r2 - Users somtimes can't see new files in folders unless a new file is created.

    Hello Folks!
My users sometimes have a problem that user A sometimes can't see a file created or copied by user B to a directory within a share they can both access. Both are within the same group which grants them Full Access on the share, settings for permissions are
correctly set to be applied on directories, subdirectories and files.. Confusingly, this can be fixed when user A creates some kind of file (empty .txt, for example); the "missing" files will suddenly appear.
    Windows Server 2008r2, DC
Windows File Server 2008r2, shares and files are located here.
ABENUM activated, needed for several folders.
The Domain-Admin Account is able to see all the files all the time.
Anybody got an idea what I could check?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi,
Did it work correctly before when logging in with domain user account? If so, please try opening Control Panel > Credential Manager and remove the cached credential entry of the Outlook account, and then restart Outlook to test the issue again.
