(winxp+oracle11g) failed to connect oracle remotely.

I installed oracl11g in my winXP host (ip1) and in another winXP (ip2) host reside in a vmware workstation which is on ip1 too. The vmware uses bridge to connect network.
I can ping ip1 from ip2 and and vice versa, but i can not tnsping oracle on ip1 from ip2 or tnsping oracle on ip2 from ip1. The errors are the same.
ora-12535: operation timed out.
I have add the oracle.exe in the firewall, but it is useless. The same is the case with sqlplus and pl/sql developer.
Thank you.

but i can not tnsping oracle on ip1 from ip2 or tnsping oracle on ip2 from ip1.This is NOT an Oracle issue.
Problem is with OS networking/VM configuration (or existing misconfiguration).

Primary and standby cannot talk to each other currently through the listener:
ORA-16664: unable to receive the result from a database
Cause: During execution of a command, a database in the Data Guard broker
configuration failed to return a result.
Action: Check Data Guard broker logs for the details of the failure. Fix any
possible network problems and try the command again.
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
Cause: The listener received a request to establish a connection to a database or other service. The connect descriptor received by the listener specified a service name for a service (usually a database service) that either has not yet dynamically registered with the listener or has not been statically configured for the listener. This may be a temporary condition such as after the listener has started, but before the database instance has registered with the listener.
Action: - Wait a moment and try to connect a second time.
    - Check which services are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>
    - Check that the SERVICE_NAME parameter in the connect descriptor of the net service name used specifies a service known by the listener.
    - If an easy connect naming connect identifier was used, check that the service name specified is a service known by the listener.
    - Check for an event in the listener.log file.

    Hi,
If you are debugging on your local server, then restart the server it should resolve the problem.
Also make sure before restarting the server that Debug configuration for WD app is Pointing to the Valid J2EE Engine

  • MDBs failed to connect to remote JMS server

    Hi,
We currently have 2 clusters: one is a regular cluster (cluster1) and the other is JMS cluster (cluster2). Our JMS server and filestore are targeted to a migratable server in JMS cluster.
In our weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, we added element <provider-url> to the <message-driven-descriptor> to allow JMS remote connection as follows:
              <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
                   <ejb-name>MyBean</ejb-name>
                   <message-driven-descriptor>
                        <destination-jndi-name>MyTopic</destination-jndi-name>
              <provider-url>t3://myhost:19009,myhost:19011</provider-url>
              <connection-factory-jndi-name>MyConnectionFactory</connection-factory-jn
              di-name>
                   </message-driven-descriptor>
              </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
When we deployed our application, the Connection Status of MyBean showed "disconnected". I have tried different values (t3://myhost:19009;t3://myhost:19011) and
(t3://myhost:19009) but got the same result.
When I re-targeted the JMS server and filestore to a regular server (instead of migratable server), I was able to connect remotely. But because we want to be able to migrate our JMS server (auto and manually), I have to target it to a migratable server.
I could not figure out why my MDBs failed to connect to a remote JMS server when it is targeted to a migratable server? Is there a restriction that we have to target to a regular server in order to connect remotely or I'm doing something wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
              Thanks,
              Thao

I'm using WL9.2 and my migratable server is actually up and running (is that what you mean about booted?).                    I meant checking your log files to make sure that the JMS server itself actually booted, not checking that the host WL server was up. (For example you should see INFO messages indicating that the JMS server has loaded "X" records from its persistent store).
              >>> Could you elaborate on the known problem?
9.x MDBs have special code for enhanced handling of remote distributed destinations. I'm guessing that this code is somehow causing problems when the remote JMS server is migratable. I don't have enough information to elaborate further than that.
              >>> What else I can try?
Beyond contacting customer support, I'm not sure.

  • "Failed to connect to remote distribution point" on local machine

I have a new System Center 2012 R2 setup. I only have a single server with Configuration Manager, SQL, and Distribution Point all on the same machine.
The Configuration Manager Client Package is failing to load to the distribution point.

  • Failed to connect Oracle server from a x86 machine

    Hi everyone,
Could you please help me take a look at the error below?
error info: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater
I just download the Oracle client (please refer to the url below) to my x86 machine, and set the machine following the installation steps, but failed to get the error above.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/winsoft.html
Could you please tell me how to fix that error?
your help will be very appreciated :-)
    Thanks
    Lindsay

By examining it and reading all possible stuff...
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html has:
OCI, OCCI, Pro*C, ODBC, and JDBC applications work without modification
You'll have to read that as: only those applications will work.
The "Database Client Installation Guide" says in chapter 1.3:
Instant Client: Enables you to install only the shared libraries required by Oracle Call Interface (OCI), Oracle C++ Call Interface (OCCI), Pro*C, or Java database connectivity (JDBC) OCI applications.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15662/install_overview.htm#sthref23
If you have Metalink access, Note 565000.1 will tell you everything in much more detail.
This Note also tells me that .NET and OLEDB providers are included in Instant Client 11.1.0.6 and higher, so you might consider using that. It will allow you to connect to a 10g database.

  • Failed to connect Oracle database

    Hi everyone,
Could you please help me to take a look at the error below? I tried to conect the Oracle database server via OLEDB from another machine, and got the error below:
Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components
are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3
or later client software installation. Provider is unable to function until
    these components are installed.
I collected some solutions about this error, and tried rename the "OCIW32.DLL" on the machine, or modify the security of Oracle client folder, but in valid.
Who can tell me how to figure out it? And what should I do if i got the error like "Oracle client and networking components were not found"
BTW, the Oracle client installed on my machine is 10.2.0.3, my Oracle server is Oracle92.
    Thanks
    Linsay

As "orafad" explained, there is no OLE DB Provider in Oracle Instant Client.
You will have to use the regular client, available on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
    or similar.
If you don't have a support contract, you will not be able to get the 10.2.0.4 patchset.
I have no idea, but maybe Oracle Data Access Components for Windows (Oracle 10g Release 2 ODAC 10.2.0.2.21) can help you: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html

  • Failed to connect to remote application (fatal error)

    Symptom:
After building a debuggable application (EXE), I tried to connect to it by:
    1.  Running the EXE
    2.  Operate » Debug Application or Shared Library...
The IDE tried to connect to the EXE and then posted this dialog:
After clicking OK, my Connection Status looked like this:
    Explanation:
It turns out you cannot debug an application if there are any subVIs without diagrams.  In my case, I'm calling someone else's VI in ONE location.  That VI happens to NOT have a diagram.
In case someone ever sees this puzzling "fatal error" dialog during connection, watch out for VIs where the diagrams have been removed.
    Work Around:
Use a DDS (Diagram Disable Structure) to comment out the VI w/o diagram.  Then, build your application and debug it.  Enable the DDS case with the VI before building the final application.

  • Finder not connecting to remote servers and fail to reboot

I've posted this in the leopard section, but I think this is also an issue on a snow leopard box as well...
I'm running several Mac minis, all relatively up to date (I don't update the day updates come out, usually waiting a week or so to see how well it's accepted across the community).
I have this issue occasionally where the Mac will fail to connect to remote windows boxes. It seems to be fine for other apple devices, but I just see the "connecting" message without it ever getting anywhere. I can't really seem to nut out when in particular that it happens.
What I usually do find it that when it dies happen, a reboot of the machine in question (the Mac, not the windows box) resolves the issue. Relaunching the finder does not fix the problem. If I try and manually restart the connection (Go--> connect to server) the little dialog box comes up, but never connects. What makes it worse it never fails either.
Usually once this happens I can not soft restart the computer. ie selecting reboot or shutdown brings me to a pale blue screen with the "waiting" animated circle in the middle if the screen. I have left this for an entire evening, it will not reboot, in the end I have to hold the power off and force it off. I've just dine some googling on these issues and the whole time 10-15 minutes worth, I am still just seeing this animated "loading/waiting" spinning piece of *^}]#%% that tells me nothing
    Any ideas?

Can you check your firewall settings on Red Hat Machine and make sure port 8134 is open as this is default port on which Apache which comes with FMS listens.
But if you think i did not get your question right , please let me know.

  • JDBC fails to connect to 8.1.7.0.1 on Linux

    Hi,
I compile and run the sample JDBCVersion program on a Win98 client PC. It works ok connecting to a Sparc 8.1.7.0.1. However, when it connects to 8.1.7.0.1 on Redhat 7.3, it gives the following error.
    D:\Programs>java JDBCVersion
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

The strange thing is if the same program is run on the local Redhat 7.3 machine, it works fine!
I checked the listener.log file. The log message for the successful and unsuccessful cases are the same (of course except the HOST= field).
    Is it a bug?
    Regards,
    John Lee

    Hi Rahul,
Thanks for your response. I'm using Oracle Java Thin client. Environment is J2SE SDK 1.4.1_01 (uses classes12.zip from Oracle).
    Successful cases
    - Win98 can use ODBC and SQL*PLUS to connect to the remote Oracle8i
    - Win98 can use JDBCVersion program to connect to a remote Oracle8i on Sparc and another Oracle9i on RedHat 7.3
    - JDBCVersion can successfully connects to Oracle8i on Redhat 7.3 if it is run locally on the database server
    Failed cases
    - When JDBCVersion runs on Win98, it fails to connect to remote Oracle8i on Redhat 7.3
The log from listener.log shows that nothing special happens when JDBCVersion runs on Win98 to connect.
    Any clues?
    Regards,
    John

  • CS3 / CS4 connection to remote/testing servers times out.

    Hello,
    I have 2 questions:
    1. Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once for multiple ldap authentication transactions?
    2. Can DreamWeaver be configured to increase it's timeout when connecting to remote/testing servers?
    Details below ...
    ============
    Setup
Client: DW CS3/4 clients on WIN XP
    Server: Suse Linux 2.6 (SP3)
Protocol: WebDAV via apache 2.2, LDAP authentication
    Problem description
Dreamweaver Clients fail to connect to remote/testing servers during peak usage hours.
    Analysis
Connecting to the remote/testing servers requires approximately 900 database transactions to test user privileges for content, simplified as the following:
    900 x [ bind + lookup + unbind ]
During peak hours, this process can sometimes take upwards of 30 seconds to complete.  In these cases, Dreamweaver times out (at approximately 40 seconds) and then user must try the process again.
    Possibe Solutions
    a) Increase cache size in apache.
This has been done, but we have a large client base, and with 900 look-ups per user, we hit the ceiling of an acceptable cahce size.  This solution does not work for us.
    b) Change DreamWeaver authentication to only bind once.
Binding 900 times for 900 separate lookups is wasteful.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to bind once and have multiple transactions?
    [ bind + [ 900 x lookup ] + unbind ]
    c) Change DreamWeaver timeout value
Currently DreamWeaver times out on connection attempts at about 30-40 seconds.  Can DreamWeaver be configured to timeout at a different value?
    ============
    Thanks!
    Graham

Thanks for the super fast response...
Dummy me... It was the firewall on the Oracle host XP box that was the problem
    Appreciate the help
    Thanks again
