Wireless Backup to Itunes rarely works

Wireless Backup rarely works. It is supposed to start as soon as a person plugs into power while logged into the home network that the Itunes is running on. More times than not Itunes freezes up looking for devices that are not even plugged in. Then I don't notice anything on the device that says, do not unplug because backup is in progress.
I think it one of the items that looks really good in an ad but is so rarely used that the complaints just do not add up to anything. Or it simply is not a good option if you own more than 2 devices or something. I get that my PC and Itunes is freezing up because we have so many Iphones and Ipads but it really does not mention anywhere that there is a limit for how many items you can use.

While on the subject of backing up. The old Ipod/Iphone cord has ran its course.   The transfer rate is way, way too slow. Apple says that owning an Iphone may be the only camera you will ever need.   Well, that is great until you fill up the 32 gig with videos and photos and it takes hours and hours just to transfer them to free up space.
I could not believe they stuck with the same cord so it could be compatible with old stuff.   That was cool for a while but its really time to get a better cord system. It is very frustrating trying to get out the door for an event and waiting for the transfer of info through the out dated cord.
Anything new can be attached with bluetooth or even wirelessly so why the big attempt to keep the cord the same? If a person could remove the memory card and buy extra ones it would not matter how long it took because you could be back on the road while your computer was working away transfering photos and videos.
My main question.   How long does it take most people to transfer over photos and videos of a full 32 gig iphone of new photos and videos.   Yes it does get quicker if you do not delete from iphone and it only has to get new ones, I am talking about the person that may actually use the video camera alot. 32 gig is not that much, but try transfering it to a computer through that cord, and it will surely freeze almost any wifi systems in most homes.   In fact I dare anyone to transfer 32 gig wireless with out having to do some sort of wifi reboot during or after.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

You probably can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
Two cautions if you want to try this:
1) The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
2) Backups are likely going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule. Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.

I've tried everything others have suggested without any luck.

Since you seem to be using a new disk for Lion, Time Machine will consider previous backups to be for a "different" computer. Try doing a control-click or click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, then choose "Browse Other Time Machine Disks". This should allow Time Machine to see the previous backups.
In the worst case you should be able to open those Time Machine backups and copy your documents from there to your home folder.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject. In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

Itunes Library reinstalled from backup disk- but doesnt work without DISK

i recently cleaned up some bugs on my computer.
I also installed Avast antivirus.
I turned off the computer- a couple days later when I turned it on-my itunes library was empty.
I reinstalled the library from my backup disk
now lots of songs onthe library have exclamation points- when I click on them it says- we need to find them- then I put the disk back in and all is well.
I bought I new Ipod - 7.0 all good- and it sync-ed great- all songs on the Ipod work
ideally I would like to erase the itunes library and import everything from the Ipod so that I dont have to carry the backup disk everywhere. How do I do that? or another solution? thanks.

Grab SyncToy 2.0, a free tool from MS. Copy your entire iTunes library & any other media folders onto another hard drive or network share. After making your initial backup copy use SyncToy to periodically synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the changed files will be copied saving lots of time.

Backup To Disc using iTunes not working

When I Backup to Disc (DVD) using the Backup in iTunes I have 150 purchased songs and 2 audio books. Only twenty two items are going to the disc. A few folders for example: Fleetwood Mac has 4 songs in it but the total sum comes no where to the total of 150 songs nor are either of the audio books saved to disc.

I was prompted to do an iTunes backup last night after buying an album. I got a message saying the backup failed, so I replaced the DVD and choose retry.
This seemed to be successful and I was asked to insert disk after disk after disk (I have over 20 GB of media in iTunes!). But I then noticed it seemed to be burning the same last few files over and over. So I eventually cancelled the backup (after disk 11!)
So although the backup seemed to work (the disks were correctly formatted), it's a bit buggy, and not sure I'll use this method for backing up until the bugs are fixed.
Not sure this helps you, but at leastyou know you're not the only one with problems.

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

I've done this several times, restarted the iPhone and my computer, but I can't get ready to sync... The phone is working ok and my backup data is restored into the phone.

ITunes stopped working when restoring backup to new iPhone 6

I have just bought a new iPhone 6 128GB. I backed up my iPhone 4S to my computer using iTunes 12.0.1. When I tried to start the new iPhone 6 from the back up it restored so far, up to step 5 of 5, but when it tired to sync Apps and Music iTunes stopped working. It has done this over 5 times at exactly the same stage.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1.
I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, turned both the phone and laptop off and back on again. Update all of the Apps on my laptop and installed them all manually on the phone, tried syncing again... and again... and again...
It is now getting extremely infuriating as I have now wasted over 4 hours trying to get Apps and Music on my iPhone 6. The reason for my the 128GB version was so I no longer need to carry and iPod on holiday as I have lots of music. I now can't sync any music!
Please help...

File sharing and music sharing in iTunes not working on local network

Hi Folks
I am now going to make a topic of my own this time. Here is how it doesn´t work:
I have a MBP with Mac OS 10.5.4 connected via Airport to my local network. The switch is a zyXel 2602HW-D1A. On my network there is an iMac Flat Panel 800 mHz and an even older iMac bondiblue rev. A. Both of the old ones are running (smoothly) on Panther. The two old ones are connected via ethernetports (wired) on the zyXel-switch. I also have an Apple TV connected wireless to the switch. There is also two printers connected to the network.
Until recently, don´t know exactly when, everything has worked just fine. The two old macs showing up perfectly in the sidebar of a Finder window. I could also connect to them via the command K. Musicsharing in iTunes also worked very well. But now it is impossible for my MBP to connect to the other Macs. They show up rarely in the sidepane af the Finder window, but when i try to make a connection it is impossible. It just turns the little wheel for a short while and then it says connecting failed. Also the command K command doesn´t work. The other way round is no problem. The two old ones connect perfectly together and to the MBP. Musicsharing is also lost FROM the MBP. There is absolutely no problems in the connection to the Apple TV from the MBP as well. All three Macs connect perfectly to the internet. I can also print from the MBP. AND it strangely connects perfectly to all PCs on my job-network, it is a PC only, LAN.
So far i have tried almost any combination of turning on and off firewall, allow only special sharing etc. For now the firewall is set allow everything to connect (and it has always been that way) Network settings has also been toggled in any way they can. I have done all three cron jobs and repaired permissions a few times. The zyXel switch has also been reset and restarted.
I also have a strange minor problem: I can´t open log via the show log button in the advanced pane of firewall settings. There just nothing happening when i click the button. I also had another problem in turning on Airport the other day. I toggled on and off a few settings (Appletalk on and off did the trick) and then it suddenly worked.
I have a strange feeling of something corrupt on my MBP. Or is it just that networking on Leopard is a bit unstable??
I would appreciate some help her. I am sure that the problem lies within the MBP, or what do you think?

Thanks - the weekend was very pleasant indeed!
I agree that something seems to awry in the Leopard MBP. The question is "what". The symptoms now are:
1) iTunes music sharing from MBP is broken
2) Connecting to Panther Mac via AFP is broken (although one Mac can be connected via IP address)
3) Machine works well on a Windows network
Based on all of this, I would guess that there is a problem in the "Bonjour" networking of the MBP. You could try:
1. Using a different account to see if it is local to your user id.
2. Failing that, removing your com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist and com.apple.AppleShareClient.plist files from /Library/Preferences
Outside of that, I would have to do some more digging.

Iphone 6 backup to iCloud not working

Initially I had the issue where my phone was restoring from iCloud for 2 weeks and never finished. I was unable to do the upgrade to 8.1 because of this, so I canceled the restore and tried to do a backup to iCloud. I let it run (Estimating time remaining...) for a long time, like 30 minutes or something. Each time I tried this it would error off saying it couldn't finish the operation. One time it said it was going to take 2 days to complete the backup, but then it errors off as just mentioned. So I did a google search for "iPhone 6 backup to iCloud not working" and found a link to the forums for the incessant restore issue, it said to do a manual backup through iTunes, then immediately do a restore, then do the upgrade to 8.1.
However, I still have the issue of the backup taking forever.
Anyone encounter this issue and find a fix?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
