Doublechecking, Jensen. What's the precise text of your error message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • Wireless connection drops every day -- iTunes 8.02 the problem??

Hello! Our iMac is connected to the internet via Airport, and we have rarely had problems with the connection. For the last two weeks, when I get on the iMac for the first time that day, I have to reconnect to the wireless network through the Airport Setup Assistant every single time. I've tried resetting our cable modem and Airport -- no effect on the problem. I've tried going into sleep mode without logging off to see if that might help -- nope. I've tried repairing permissions in the off-chance that that might help -- no again.
In something that seems more than just a coincidence, we updated our iTunes to 8.02 about two weeks ago, and that's when this problem began happening. I am especially suspicious that there's a link because we did not update iTunes on our Macbook and it has no problem whatsoever staying connected to the exact same wireless network.
    Two questions, then:
-- Is the iTunes 8.02 update the problem?
-- If so, how do I go back to iTunes 7.7?
    Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to iTunes and apple, but this is happening to me too! I've got iTunes 8 and whenever I run it, my wireless connection drops (disables itself) and cannot be restarted without rebooting the machine. Did you manage to find an answer?

  • 1415 fnw printer wireless connection extremely slow or not working with OS X, works with windows

The wireless connection to the printer is either extremely slow or not working at all on OS X Yosemite.  It shows up in the list of printers in Bonjour in Safari, and I can connect to parts of the web interface if I wait a very long time.  However, I cannot add the printer as a new printer in System Preferences even though the printer shows up.
I have upgraded to the latest firmware.  The WiFi indicator on the printer is on, "green", and it has a reserved IP showing up in my router (ComCast).  It seems that Windows machines can printer to the printer wirelessly without a problem.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello @sscotti,
I would like to assist you today with installing your wireless HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer on your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer. Now you indicate in your post that this printer works fine with Windows computers, and you are able to 'see' the Bonjour printer on your Mac. Therefore, the issue that you are experiencing is not network related. Rather, I do believe that you are experiencing a driver conflict on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you run the steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, I'm going to have you 'clean up' your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to verify that any trace of your Laserjet printer is gone so we have a nice clean slate to work with. Please click here and when the website opens select the drop down for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. Run the appropriate uninstall steps for the method in which you originally tried to install your printer: Apple Updates, or the HP Driver download.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.10 drivers for your HP Laserjet printer.
Once the website opens select the 'download' button on the top left
Once the download has completed, please follow the onscreen steps to reinstall your printer.
Once the reinstall is complete, test the print and scan functions to ensure that your printer is functioning as per normal.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should you still be experiencing issues there are additional steps I can have you run through. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • Almost every program not from Apple crashes at startup, every time

    Hi!
I have a Macbook, with a fresh OS X 10.6.6 installation (about 1 month old). I have installed MS Office, Firefox, Chrome and Skype as 3rd Party programs. Suddenly, I don't know why this happens, most of the programs don't run anymore. If I try to start firefox, chrome, skype, word... it crashes even before or when it opens a window. Safari, iCal, Mail and VLC work fine, but iTunes crashes too.
Last I can remember which could cause the problems was installing 3-4 well known chrome extensions. But those worked fine for the first day. I tried reinstalling chrome, removing the Extension as well as the whole Library folder, nothing helped. I also restarted but the problem remains. There are no updates available.
I'm using Macs for about 5 years, I've never seen something like that, and the Macbook is quite new.
Anybody any ideas what's going wrong here?
    best regards
    Andreas

Yes, not all the settings, no time machine, but I would not loose important data if I reinstall OS X.
Is there no way to fix the launchservice without new install?
I searched for the error message from the crash report:
+Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE+
Could it a problem with RAM modules? I have original 4G from Apple installed.
What I remember now, a few days ago the MacBook crashed completely, I only got a message that I have to power off and restart, like this: http://www.bergek.com/2009/03/17/os-x-panics-when-inserting-usb-memory/
But after I restarted there was no problem anymore, until the latest problems came up.

  • Very slow wireless connection for me but not for others

I set my 12" powerbook next to my girlfriend's PC notebook and ran an online speed test on each of them. She gets a download speed of about 3mbps. I get a top download speed of about 200kbps. Why does my powerbook get only 1/15th the download speed that she does?
    Thanks for your answers.

Are they both on the network at the same time? If one computer has heavy use of the Internet connection, other computers later on may not get as much of the available bandwidth.
Which speed test did you use? I use this one.

  • Connected, yet not connected?

    ISP: Windstream
    Router: Linksys WRT54G2
    Laptop: HP Pavilion (Vista SP1)
I have a fiberoptic connection.  So no modem, the desktop is hard-wired to the Linksys router.  The desktop connects fine, I have no trouble there; the laptop was the same way, until yesterday, it just went dead on me.  It says successful connection, yet I am not able to browse the internet.
I was on the phone with HP, Windstream & even Linksys and I did everything they asked.  The cause might be something simple, but so far it seems too complicated to figure out, let alone fix.
A list of things I have already attempted:
*I have disabled IPv6, only IPv4 is enabled.
*I reset the router multiple times
*I also tried to change the ip to 10.10.10.1 in the Linksys Setup
*I tried did the DhcpConnBcastFlag fix
Below are the nbtstat & IPCONFIG for Desktop (hardwired) & Linksys (Wireless, while connected to the network)

  • Want to Start Backing-Up and Would Like a Wireless Connection

I will try to explain my question as simple as I can, but my tech knowledge is not the best, so please bare with me. As I said in the heading I would like to start backing up my MBP (something I never have done) and I would like to use a 3.5-4 year-old Airport Extreme I have had for 4 years but never really used it much. I have a new MBP so I would like to understand what some of the basic terms mean first.
In the dock I have an icon called Time Machine. I saw a device that looked like my Airport Extreme at the Apple Store, but I think the guy said it was called an Apple Capsule. He also said the Apple Capsule can do great back-ups and also "get you up and running on a wireless internet connection." Although I did not check out the costs of all the stuff I would need, I wanted to get an experts guidance on what is what and what I would need to use the program I already have called Time Machine. The Airport Extreme I have is square has several ethernet port ports in the back a WAN port and a light in the front that can turn various colors depending on the status of the Wireless connection.
I am not sure if the Airport Extreme I have is still OK to use, safe enough, all of that stuff since technology changes so much in a short amount of time. So I was also looking at the LaCie Rugged Hard Disk Triple also 500 GB capacity option and if my 3.5 or 4 year-old Airport Extreme will work just fine use that and the LaCie.
I am alos trying to understand the difference between the icon on my dock called Time Machine, the Time Capsule, and what I would need counting what my MBP came with (The Time Machine for sure).
I think I got all the basic questions out for starters, and please let me know if you need any additional info if you need any additional info.
I should add when I first connected up the Airport Extreme when I finally got the nerve to call Applecare for help hooking up the Airport Extreme approx 3.5-4 years ago. the lady who was in Canada was very good but the process seemed quite complicated and that could have been because that was the first real complicated set-up I had done using my new MBP at that time. It seemed a lot of the complications came with all the passwords, security questions I had to remember, long numbers, etc. But since I knew nothing about Macs at that time it probably had a lot do do with that.
I am open for constructive criticisms and help but if you have a need to knock someone down please go elsewhere. I tried my hardest to explain what I need help with and when I decided to come to my favorite place for help, I came hoping I would not get a bunch of put-downs like has happened in the past.
thanks in advance for your help.

I appreciate your help. I understand now that Time Machine is software. What I do not understand is it software to be used with Time Capsule? Another device?
Apple intends Time Machine to be used to write its backup files to (a) a directly-connected (as via USB or FireWire) external or secondary internal disk or (b) the disk in a Time Capsule. All other configurations are officially unsupported.
I have not purchased the LaCie device yet. it seemed cool.
As a Time Machine target drive I imagine that the LaCie drive is fine for a directly-connected drive (option "a" above), but is not recommended for use when connected to a WiFi base station.
at the time I wrote this post, I had no idea that the Time Capsule was an Airport Extreme too
Apple doesn't call it that, but except for the disk drive it's functionally equivalent.
I appreciate your feedback on how to avoid some of the smart *** and mean comments I frequently get. I do not agree with most of what you wrote because although I post a post or Question(s), but I do not ask any specific person to answer or help me.
True, but that's not my point. When you post a question on a forum such as this, you do so with the hope that someone will reply with useful advice. To do that someone has to read your post to determine what advice to give you. So anyone who has any thought of helping you has to first read your post, which involves a certain commitment of time.
Frequently I do not get any answers or replies. it is their decision to try and help me or not. If they do not like the way the question(s) is worded or expressed in writing, they do not have to even attempt to answer it. That is what I never understood. The negative criticism would come with their first reply, but I did not even ask any specific person to help me.
It's hard to comment without seeing your post and the reply, but perhaps those people were just trying to help you (clumsily, perhaps) learn how to write better-behaved posts.
I do agree with putting too much info. in a post. I do try to keep it clear and concise, but that is very hard for me. So I appreciate your comment about that, because I do think I do have a tendency to write too much at times. I think it is great that there are people who like or want to do this, for whatever reason.

  • Why must I repair wireless connection on workstations?

I have a WRV210 router setup with WPA personal-AES encryption...SSID is turned on.  The issue is that workstations lose connectivity to the internet and to a mapped network drive on the server.  When this happens I find that the wireless status shows "connected", along with excellent signal strength.  It never happens when logging on, just after so many minutes.  The simple remedy is to repair wireless connection but we would like to not have to resort to this behavior every day.  Further, I found that within the repair connection sequence that deleting the address resolution protocol table, brings the internet and the ability to access a mapped network drive back.  I even used a program called arpfreeze to assign static ip's to the arp table and I still had to repair wireless connection.  It does not matter where the workstations are placed, whether sitting 50 feet away or 5 feet from the router, the workstations lose the ability to access internet and mapped drive while showing "connected" and excellect signal strength.  Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Otherwise, we are looking at running ethernet cables through the building (Not easy).

    1.  Three wirelessly, 2 wired
    2.  Both wired computers have static ips and work fine.  Have not tried assigning static ip to any of the wireless clients.
    3.  Not sure what the lease time is.  DHCP is disabled on the router because the server does DHCP.  Not exactly sure how to find it on the server but I do know that this problem has happened even when the router had DHCP enabled.
    4.  I can recall a time when I had all 3 workstations running. I could go around to each computer and receive error messages related to trying to use remote desktop connection.  I would try to log in to the server and it would give me an error.  It doesn't affect a wireless computer that has been off during the time and suddenly turned on.  If I click repair, on the connection, then I regain connectivity to the internet and server.  I can also regain connectivity by opening command prompt and typing in "arp -d".  Also when I look at the arp table, nothing looks unusual.

  • Why do I loose my wireless connection?

Can someone tell me why I loose my wireless connection from my laptop when I go to make a phone call with my phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your phone is probably on the 2.4Ghz frequency which is the same frequency wireless routers operate on. Try changing the channel on the router to one that is far enough away from the phone's frequency so they don't interfere with each other.
To change the channel on the router:
In Internet Explorer, type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar
On the login page that comes up, type admin for the username and password1 for the password (ignore the dots)
Click Change Wireless Settings under Quick Links in the My Router column of the front page.
Under option 3. Channel, select a number from 1 - 11 then click Apply at the bottom of the page.
Click Apply again to save the changes if it asks.
It is pretty much trial and error in determining which channel will be furthest from your phone's frequency, and you might even not find a channel that keeps your wireless connection up every time your on the phone. I had the same problem with my own cordless phone and a linksys router that I ended up having to purchase a new phone in the 5.8Ghz range to keep my connection. With that said, I hope you have better luck then me with this situation.

  • Intermitent Wireless connection

Lately I've been having an annoying issue with my wireless connection. Every time I connect to the internet through a wireless connection, after a few minutes (10-15 minutes approximately) it stops working. The connection signal stays strong and the computer says it's connected to the network, but it won't open any web page. To get it to start working again I need to disconnect and reconnect my computer to the wireless network. At first I thought it might be the browser (firefox) so I switched to safari, but the problem persists.
Does anyone know what might be the solution?

Having the exact same problem here..... Apple care has be no help so far..... I have tried archive install of snow leopard, clean install, clearing RAM, deleting files from networking profiles you name it. I also seem to show a lot more available networks, I only showed four or five before and now have as many as twenty showing intermittently. Seems like a ton of people are having this problem. Mine started after I sent my MacBook Pro in for repairs and they replaced my airport card along with several other things (logic board, battery etc.). I am not sure why apple care always says they are unaware of the problem when I have found at least twenty post's with similar symptoms. Granted it takes forever to browse search forums using my MBP. My girlfriends MacBook and my new iMac does not seem to have any of the issues and they are all on the same network. I sure wish apple could figure this out. Having a laptop that is not portable due to internet problems makes life and work miserable.... Sorry I am not offering a solution, just wanted to add my own plea for a fix.

  • HP4520 loses wireless connection.

I have a laptop with Windows 7 64bit installed and an iPad with iOS 8.1.3 installed.
My printer keeps losing wireless connection. Every time I want to print, I have to reset my router and restart the printer. Also, I am now unable to print from the iPad even when I can print from the laptop. However, the documents do show in the 'print queue'.
I have followed all the HP diagnostics with no success.

Well you are going to have to read your router manual and the printer manual to perform these functions. They are not hard.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.
If my post resolved your problem, please mark it as an Accepted Solution ...
