Ikeep getting this error on the WLC where users kept getting kicked off the the wireless network

is this a Client issue or Controller issue
Error Message %DOT1X-3-INVALID_WPA_KEY_MSG_STATE: Received invalid [chars] msg in

Explanation Client authentication failed because of an authentication protocol error between the client and access point.
Recommended Action If the problem persists, try upgrading the client driver software or using different client software to isolate the cause. Also investigate possible intruder activity.

Hello, Everyone I have Wireless HREAP setup in which the Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) are located across the WAN in DataCenter while the Wireless Access Points (AP) are located within the branches, so setup is fine but as security requirement mandates that the APs VLAN in the branch should be restricted from accessing any thing except neccessary communication to WLC across the WAN so on the interface VLAN assigned for the APs in the branch i Applied an inbound ACL as below and it works fine but after some times my be days i found that the Access points are not present in the WLC GUI and it will appear only if i removed the ACL...............So question here what else is missing in my ACL which is neccessary for AP communication to WLC?

Actually the issue was due to the ACL, which was blocking the DHCP (how stupidly I overlooked that)
I have did the same command as you instructed and it reveal that AP has timed out, so I have enabled debugging on ACL to see what kindly of communication is going on and I found many communication which I was keep allowing it based try and error till I found this log that Some APs IP address are trying to communicate to the default VLAN gateway IP address on port 67 which is DHCP then I realized this is the issue.....
In brief....the APs are assigned to a dynamic VLAN (DHCP-enabled) so when I apply the old ACL, the APs already has obtained an IP addresses and they work fine with WLC, but when the DHCP lease timer expires, the APs try to send DHCP renew to the default gateway in which no ACE inside the ACL is matching so that request being denied and therefore doesn't get an IP address so it loses communication with the WLC....
So I added the following ACE at the end of the above ACL
permit udp host 0.0.0.0 any eq bootps

but it all seems to come together.
I get the following errors on WLCS startup (required to do anything with
WLPS).
I'm running WLS 5.1 SP 8, and the latest WLCS/PS (no service packs),
and just going with Cloudscape defaults.
Any ideas?

I'm using an i Mac O sx 10.6.8 Even though I'm using wired ethernet access, I can turn airport on and let it run while using the wired connection. I suppose that condition may cause the errors you're getting. Is it at all possible that you have your Airport wireless in your Mac Pro turned ON? -

Designing a configuration for a Wireless solution. Have a 2951 with SRE-WLC and 4 port switch module. The documentation at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/controller_modules/sre/installation/guide/wlcsreinst.html#wp1072942 arised couple of questions. Exact part of diagram from documentation is attached.
The question is that VLANs configured on SRE-WLC and ones configured on local switched belong to different subnets. Why? For example on SRE-WLC VLAN 20 - 55.20.0.0/24, but on switch - VLAN 20 - 20.1.1.0/24. Why?

Today i tried implementing APs on different VLAN than MGMT. Here is what I got:
1. New out-of-box APs didnt join to WLC once placed directly to APs VLAN. However they were able to join the WLC once I put them back to MGMT Vlan. They upgraded their IOS from WLC, joined compeletely. After that I moved them back to APs VLAN and they started to join. So, here is the procedure - Open new AP from box, connect it to MGMT VLAN, wait for joining to WLC and then move them to APs VLAN. This is a little bit strange. Also I noticed that they were unable to join teh WLC even on MGMT vlan if MGMT vlan is tagged on WLC and that tagged vlan is allowed on trunk. I have WLC on SRE, MGF trunk, VLANS and DHCP pools with option 43 configured. Will continue to investigate tomorrow.
2. What was the most difficult and problematic issue is that the LED was disabled on all APs after joining the WLC. I have been thinking that there is an error but only then found that APs by default turned off LED after joining the WLC. Issuing config ap led-status enable all on wlc solved the problem.
3. Also I regularly have been receiving
%PARSER-4-BADCFG: Unexpected end of configuration file.
during the AP joining to WLC. Dont know why. My APs are LAP1041n.
ANyways, will continue digging tomorrow, hopefully will find a stable solution. My ideal solution will be:
1. WLC Management is on MGMT VLAN - tagged vlan 20, static IP assignments.
2. APs on separate AP VLAN - tagged vlan 15 - dynamic IP assignments from DHCP pool on ISR with option 43.
3. Clients are on separate USERS VLAN - tagged vlan 10
The native VLAN will be other VLAN - VLAN 25. -
Yesterday I had an AP that disassociated from the controller and now it won't join. I'm getting the following errors. Cisco's documentation is not really pointing out the issue. Any one encountered these before?

DHCP Error with WLC 2504 and Aironet 2600 setup across subnets
Hey guys
I have just setup a new WLC 2504 controller to manage a WiFi service that will span 6 geographic locations. The local networks at each location are on different subnets (all 192.168.x.x) and are linked up via IPSEC VPN links, and there is Active Directory spanning the sites, with DNS and DHCP servers running at each location.
I tested the WLC at our main office with a single AP, and it worked fine. The AP set itself up, and wireless devices connect with no probs. Great! Yesterday I headed out to one of our remote sites, and connected an AP to their network - and that seemed to work fine too. Within a few minutes I was able to see the WiFi network I'd setup, and my smartphone connected to it straight away (as I'd rpeviously connected at the main office), so I was pretty happy that all was working well.
This morning however I've had notification that wifi performance at the remote site isn't great. I've got someone to check their ip address, and I've found that their IP address and default gateway match the LAN at the main office where the WLC is based - NOT the LAN where the wireless client is. Obvioulsy this is not ideal!
So I guess my question is, what have I done wrong? (I guess I HAVE done something wrong!?). And how can I get wireless clients at remote sites to pick up an IP from the DHCP server at THEIR site?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What mode your APs are in? Local mode? or FlexConnect mode?
If local mode, then all the traffic will be tunnelled to the WLC and they'll be same as if you are connecting from the WLC location.
If you use FlexConnect APs (which is recommended for remote sites) you can configure FlexConnect groups on the WLC and add each location in a specific group. In that group you can decide what VLAN the users should be in.

Mac Book Pro crashes wirelessly - Error Report Enclosed
I have a brand spankin' new Mac Book Pro. When I attempt to surf it wirelessly it crashes whether I'm surfing the web or even doing Software Update. It doesn't crash when I'm using the ethernet cable (at least I don't think I haven't tested it for hours upon hours that way.)
I am using Safari and I've seen some posts that Safari isn't working wirelessly. However, my computer crashes even when I'm doing Software Update and not just Safari.
I'm using a Belkin Wireless Router however I have a G5 tower with an Airport card installed and another Powerbook G4 with Airport card installed. They have no problems at all. It's only my MacBook Pro.
I can surf wirelessly for 5-10 minutes and then the screen fades to black and I get an error message that says you must Shut Down your computer or hit the Restart Button. (Where is the restart button by the way?)
When I shut down the computer and reboot I get a prompt that shows me this error message.

Re: Satellite Pro C870 - No Wireless, Error code 43
Have two new Satellite Pro C870's where the wireless was being disabled every second startup. Wireless NIC in device manager had an exclamation mark and was showing "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
After performing a system restore as advised by support the issue was still there.
Just before sending the two laptops off for repair I undid a setting called "fast boot" in the bios (otherwise set using a Toshiba utility).
Issue seems to have cleared after this.Hi

First of all you should know that Windows 8 does not perform a real shutdown.
It goes just in hybrid mode.
Maybe the error 43 is related to the fact the Win 8 and notebook did not shut down as you expected from a system like Win 7.
If you would search for error code 43 using google, you will get a lot of hits and mostly its system / driver issue.
So first of all I recommend disabling the hybrid mode and performing complete shut down:

Printer won't work wirelessly - error 30886
I just moved to a new apartment and am using my roommate's router. I connected the printer wirelessly to the internet and am able to print a test page and get info about the printer like ink levels, etc. I have a mac, went into system pref ->add a printer with the + sign and selected default printer as mine. It won't let me click add until i select a driver and when i do, it says error 30886. What does this mean? And how can I get my printer to print? I know it's connected!

Restart your Mac.
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

I just purchased my HP Deskjet 3510 Wireless Printer today and I'm trying to install it on my Macbook so it will print wirelessly without the USB. I'm getting the follwing error messege and wondering how I can fix this? Any help?
The only way around it is to use Wireless Direct, but you will have to switch among the different wireless networks with your Mac.
Follow steps one below to enable Wireless Direct for the printer (which will act like a router):

Decrypt Errors on WLC version 7

I am seeing a lot of the following showing up in the WLC trap log:
Decrypt errors occurred for client <CLIENT-MAC> using WPA2 key on 802.11b/g interface of AP 00:17:0f:81:ad:90
I have done a fair amount of searching about and I cant seem to find a clear explanation for this message. Could someone suggest what might be causing these issues and how to resolve them?
For refernce we are using WLC runninn 7.0.98 and ACS 4.0

clients but I know its both old and new Lenovo/IBM laptops as well as Macbooks and Macbook Pros.

FadelWell what is the requirement for the link. The Exalt bridges do a good job and you can get up to 160mbps half duplex. The mesh is a bit more expensive and are intended not for such a long distance but requires a WLC. If you require higher throughput, then you need to look at another vendors point to point bridging.

I have just got an X301 and downgraded it to XP using hte supplied downgrade pack. The wireless is not working though. It says This device cannot start (error code 10). I have tried installing all new intell drivers from intel as well as lenovo and it has not fixed the problem. I have tried uninstalling the device adn reinstalling and it also does not work.
Has anyone else had this problem?

You can try booting from LiveCD of Ubuntu, assuming that Ubuntu identifies the device, if it does but the card reader wouldn't work, then it would possibly be hardware issue.
Also, have you run a full diagnostic test on the system via ThinkVantage Toolbox?
I know, reinstalling Windows can be pain in the neck, however it would help in determining if this is software problem or hardware's fault.
