WLS 12.1.2.0 Supplemental Zip Distribution README_SUPP.txt

I think there may be a few things wrong with this READ_SUPP.txt.
First, I'll just copy and paste the file.
Then, in a subsequent post, I'll raise my first question.
Here is the copy and paste...
README_SUPP.txt
WLS Supplemental Zip Distribution for Oracle WebLogic Server 12.1.2.0
The WLS supplemental zip distribution is intended for development use.
It is supported on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X systems.
It contains the necessary artifacts to develop and test applications on WebLogic Server.
WLS supplemental zip requires that the primary zip distribution is already set up and is ready to use.
Supplemental zip contains samples, evaluation database (Derby) and L10N console help files.
The following instructions should help in quickly setting up the extra components in WLS via the supplemental zip.
Please refer to the general WLS documentation for detailed instructions.
QUICKSTART
1. Ensure that WLS has been installed under MW_HOME (eg: /home/myhome/mywls/wls12120)
using the zip distribution - wls1212_dev.zip
2. Extract the contents of the supplemental zip (eg: extract into /home/myhome/mywls )
wls12120 directory will be automatically created during extraction.
3. Setup JAVA_HOME and MW_HOME variables in the current shell.
The script will attempt to extract MW_HOME and JAVA_HOME from the WLS installation.
If this fails, you are required to set them up prior to running the script.
Linux $ export JAVA_HOME=/home/myhome/myjavahome
$ export MW_HOME=/home/myhome/mywls/wls12120
Mac
$ export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.7/Home
$ export MW_HOME=/home/myhome/mywls/wls12120
Windows > set JAVA_HOME=C:\home\myhome\myjavahome
> set MW_HOME=C:\home\myhome\mywls\wls12120
This version of WLS requires JDK 1.7.
Ensure that you have the proper JDK version installed.
4. Run the installation configuration script in the MW_HOME directory, C:\wl\wls12120 .
(This step is required to be run only once.
If you move the installation to another location/machine, you need to rerun this step)
If the username and password are not provided, the script will prompt for them.
Linux/Mac $ ./run_samples.sh <username> <password> or
$ ./run_samples.sh
Windows > run_samples.cmd <username> <password> or
> run_samples.cmd
This step creates the sample domains with the user provided username and password ( admin & admin1admin, respectively ).
The sample domains should be created in MW_HOME/wlserver/samples.
5. WLS can be started from these sample domains by issuing startWebLogic command.
This will also bring up the WLS console in the default browser.
6. Start a browser and open up url - 'http://localhost:7001/console' to administer the server.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
# Samples
# Derby DB (for use with Samples)
# L10N versions of WLS console help files
CLEANUP
The supplemental zip contents are interleaved with the base zip contents.
You have to delete the MW_HOME directory which will delete both the WLS installation as well as the supplemental zip contents.
KNOWN ISSUES
# [MAC OS X] Supplemental zip configuration (run_samples.sh|cmd) may fail if the JAVA_HOME has soft links or dummy JRE files.
Ensure that files in JAVA_HOME have not been tampered with.

My first question regards step number 2...
2. Extract the contents of the supplemental zip (eg: extract into /home/myhome/mywls )
wls12120 directory will be automatically created during extraction.
The file name is wls12120_dev_supplemental.zip .
When I put this file in the mywls directory and Extract All ( using Windows Explorer, if that matters ),
the directory created is actually named " wls12120_dev_supplemental " and it has 1 sub-directory named " wls12120 ".
So, is there something wrong with Step 2's text ?
Is there something wrong with how I interpreted Step 2's text ?
Is the actual directory and sub-directory I see being created the successful response / result ? Or did this step fail ?

i am working with a WLS Zip distribution installation and i'm not seeing opmnctl or any reference to the Fusion Middleware Control that i need to install Oralce Webforms.
what components install do we need to get this install up to speed?
thanks.

Hi,
WLS ZIP distribution is only intended to be used for only developers.
As per your requirement in order to install Oracle Forms you need to install .jar or .exe or .bin file depending upon you OS.
Then install Oracle Forms 11g.
So request to follow the below steps if your OS is a 64 bit :-
1)Download and Install JDK 1.6.0_XXX from the below URL :-
Java Archive Downloads - Java SE 6
2)Download and Install Weblogic 10.3.6 which is certified with Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2.0 or Forms 11.1.1.7.0 which could be downloaded from the below URL :-
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html
Section :- Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence - Package Installer
In order to install Weblogic set you java path to point to the JDK 1.6.0_xxxx then run the below command :-
java -jar wls1036_generic.jar [ If the OS is 64 bit ]
3) Download Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2.0 or Forms 11.1.1.7.0 from the below URL 's :-
Forms Downloads</title><meta name="Title" content="Forms Downloads"><meta name="…
Incase if your OS is 32 bit then download the .bin or .exe file for Weblogic from the above URL's and also the respective Forms binary.

• Directory 5.2 sp6 zip distribution on sparse zone?

Hi,
We are trying to figure out if Directory server 5.2 sp6, zip distribution is supported on sparse zone?
We can't find the info on from web? We know that package version needs full local zone, but what about the zip version?
Any pointers or RTFMs?
br,
Timo

Hi Timo,
The Zip distribution has low adherence on the OS and should work in a sparse zone.
However I don't know if it is officially supported i.e. it has been fully qualified by the Quality Engineering team.
Support of sparse zone has not been part of the marketing requirements for the DS 5.2.x series.
Directory Server 6.x is fully supported in zones, sparse or full.
Regards,
Ludovic.

• WebLogic 11gR1: Where can I find the docs and the examples

I just installed the Zip Distribution of WebLogic 11gR1 on Ubuntu 10.10. I also installed the supplemental zip, that contained samples.
On the WebLogic 9 installation on a windows box at work, starting up WebLogic causes it to bring up a browser with a web page with very nice documentation on it, including hyperlinks to the examples. How do I find this page with my at home ZIp Distribution?

The README that accompanies the WLS supplemental zip file describes how to create the samples:

• Need help with ADF Runtime 11.1.1.6 installation into WLS 10.3.6

Hello all!
I have JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 and a standalone WLS 10.3.6 (in seperate Middleware homes as advised). I need to install the ADF Runtime libraries into the WLS but I don't know how. I downloaded them from OTN, the zip file is called ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.6.0_disk1_1of1.zip, is this the right one?
When I start the installer I can only select the JDeveloper middleware homes in the dropdown (in the meantime I have 3 of those, sigh). When I enter the WLS-home manually it doesn't detect that it is a weblogic home, so I can only select Websphere in the next screen. After that I get stuck because it isn't Websphere either.
This is my setup:
C:\Oracle\WLS10.3.6\WeblogicServer is the middleware home I specified during the WLS-install. Inside it i see folders common, utils and wlserver
one level up I have a folder domains in which the domain was created.
What should I enter as my middleware home for this installation, or should I download a completely different zipfile? I am confused! I can't use Jdeveloper to install the libraries either, this is not supported.

That first link was really helpful, I now see what went wrong. I used the zip distribution of the WLS-installation, instead of the installer. Apparently that is completely different, I couldn't find a way to install the ADF-runtime libraries afterwards. Even when I added my new Middleware home to C:\bea\beahomelist manually it complained about my WLS not being equal or higher than 10.3.5, so it wasn't going to work anyway.
Time to download the big ugly slow installer for WLS 10.3.6 and start over I guess....

• Deploy maven artifact using the wls-maven-plugin (12.1.1.0)

I am trying to use the wls maven plugin to deploy an artifact located in my local repository.
According to the documentation ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/web.1211/e24368/maven.htm#autoId6 ) this can be done by specifying the maven coordinates in the source parameter. Again according to the doc it should be specified as groupId:artifactID:packaging:classifier:version.
I tried this but as was not working I decompiled the wls-maven-plugin jar where I first of all discoverd that what should be passed is groupId:artifactID:version instead of the full one.
The next problem is the regular expression used to detect this:
if (this.source.matches("\\S:\\S:\\S")) {As you can see this will only detect one character long groupID, artifactID and version (obviously this has never been tested ...).
Can the source code of this plugin be found somewhere so I can fix it myself, can oracle fix this quickly, ... what are my options here?
Thanks

My first question regards step number 2...
2. Extract the contents of the supplemental zip (eg: extract into /home/myhome/mywls )

• JAXB/WLS 8.1 ISSUE

Hi,
We are trying to use JAXB 1.0.1 (JWSDP 1.2) as our binding framework, but we are
unable to compile the java code that uses JAXB functionality when we try to use
the ant build that comes with WLS 8.1. After comparing the distribution of WLS
8.1 and JWSDP, we found that there are lots of differences in terms of the ANT
distribution. JWSDP distribution has ANT 1.5.2 version.
Which ant version does Weblogic Server 8.1 use ? Please suggest us a solution
for this problem ?

It is
matched what you just responded. But, the issue is when I try to compile
some
classes that uses JAXB it is not complaining anything about JAXB classes,
but
rather complains about JDK 1.4.1_01 (Which comes with WLS 8.1 on HP-UX

• Installing WebLogic 11gR1 zip distro on Ubuntu 10.10

Hi. I'm having a problem installing WebLogic 11gR1, the zip distribution of Ubuntu 10.10.
I created this path:
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I put this in .bashrc
export MW_HOME=/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I closed that terminal and opened a fresh terminal.
I moved the *zip distribution into
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I unpacked the zip and tried to run the configure.sh script with variations of
sh ./configure.sh
and I get this error message:
=====================================================
./configure.sh: 19: [[: not found
./configure.sh: 19: -d: not found
ERROR: You must set MW_HOME and it must point to a directory.
where an installation of WebLogic exists. Ensure you point
this variable to the extract location of the zip distribution.
=====================================================
I ran echo $MW_HOME and got
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
Which is correct.
Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix it?

the config.sh wouldn't pick up my JAVA_HOME either. I opened up the script and found that all it did was call another script, so I ran that script myself with no problems.

• Install Weblogic 12c zip for developement on Windows 7

I have downloaded wls1211_dev.zip for development purpose (instead of full install using windows installer), for installing on the windows 7 (64 bit). After extracting the zip contents, I set up the environment variables for JAVA_HOME, MW_HOME and JAVA_VENDOR as stated in the readme.txt included in the zip distribution. I also made sure to set the environment variables using 8.3 names (old DOS names) by using dir /x command. Here are the environmental settings:
E:\WLS12c>echo %JAVA_HOME%
C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JDK17~1.0_0\bin
E:\WLS12c>echo %MW_HOME%
E:\WLS12c
E:\WLS12c>echo %JAVA_VENDOR%
Sun
But every time I run configure.cmd, I get the following error:
(I checked the permissions on the directory where I have unzipped and it is full control for me (not an administrator user). I tried to run the configure.cmd using administrative user but the same result). I can also navigate to the directories using 8.3 names. I am able to create delete and update files and folder in the target directories as non-administrative user. I have no idea why I should be getting the following errors.

Hi,
This issue usually occurs when you install WebLogic Server using generic jar installer and when launching installation with incorrect JDK version.It may be improper JDK installation or incorrect JAVA HOME setup at OS level.
To resolve this issue, uninstall current WebLogic installation using generic.jar installer that is referring incorrect JDK and relaunch the installation with correct JDK by setting correct JAVA HOME system variables. Below are steps to be followed to address this issue.
Un-install WebLogic from your machine.
If the installer is on a network drive it's recommended to copy the generic installer to your local file system and to a folder with no spaces or strange characters.
Remove the system variables you've set: JAVA_HOME, JAVA_VENDOR, and remove the %JAVA_HOME%\bin from the path system variable.
Run the installer as follows:
Open a command prompt
Change directory to \JDK_64\bin folder and execute:
java.exe -jar -Xms1024m server1001_generic.jar
After the installation is completed you can proceed to safely run the Configuration Wizard (config.cmd)

• Adding a folder to a zip file

How can I add a folder to a zip file. What I want is to create a txt file, which I place in a regular folder, then place the regular folder in a zipped folder. They all (folder, file , and zip) need to be the same name also, so the directory would be as an example C:\Desktop > runner.zip > runner > runner.txt or something similar. So far I can create a zip file, and I can create a regular folder and place the txt document in the regular folder, but i cannot seem to be able to put the regular folder in the zip folder. I get an error saying: "LabVIEW: An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @." It creates the zip file, and also the other folder with the txt file in it, but it wont put the regular folder in the zip file.
Thanks ahead of time

are you using the example file or the same code as the above screen shot? So i think my problem is I have been trying to addd the folder to a zip file I created, whereas I think that if I just zip up the folder that has the txt file in it, I will then have a zip file which contains a folder which contains the txt file, is this correct?
I'm using the code in the screenshot (I whipped up the example quickly to see if I could get it to work, so it probably isn't the best or cleanest way to do it).
[The example code from NI should work, but is probably more than you need].
You zip files, but you tell the VI which folder within the zip file (i.e. relative to the zip file) you want them to go in.
Just like how you might have a folder tree on your C drive
animals
->mammals
---->four_legs
-------->delicious
-------->thinks_you_are_delicious
---->two_legs
->birds
---->can_fly
---->cannot_fly
->fish
---->salt_water
---->fresh_water
You can have the same structure in the zip file.
For instance a photo of a flathead (a type of salt water fish)..
the file might be flathead.jpg with the path within the zip would be fish\salt_water\flathead.png
on the other hand a tiger photo
the file would be tiger.png but the path would be mammals\four_legs\thinks_you_are_delicious\tiger.png

• How to zip text files ?

Hello to everybody,
My problems is to compress text files into a .zip file, I have used the following method:
public void zippa() {
FileReader fileIn;
BufferedReader in;
String riga;
boolean eof = false;
ZipEntry zEntry;
try {
FileOutputStream fout = new FileOutputStream("C:\\Davide\\zip\\W4.zip");
fileIn = new FileReader("C:\\Davide\\zip\\W4.txt");
in = new BufferedReader(fileIn);
riga = in.readLine();
FileWriter fileOut = null;
BufferedWriter out = null;
CheckedOutputStream csum = new CheckedOutputStream(fout, new Adler32());
ZipOutputStream z = new ZipOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream(csum));
zEntry = new ZipEntry("C:\\Davide\\zip\\Sonia.txt");
z.putNextEntry(new ZipEntry(zEntry));
fileIn = new FileReader("C:\\Davide\\zip\\W4.txt");
in = new BufferedReader(fileIn);
riga = in.readLine();
System.out.println("Zipping....");
while (!eof) {
riga = in.readLine();
if (riga != null) {
z.write(riga.getBytes(),0,riga.length());
} else eof = true;
System.out.println("Zipped....");
z.close();
fileIn.close();
} catch (IOException ioe) {
System.out.println("Eccezione: "+ioe);
ioe.printStackTrace();
My problem consist in the fact that the different lines which are coming from W4.txt, are not separeted (in the zip entry "Sonia.txt") by a carriage return (new line) character but by an unprintable character (which looks like a square).... I've tried to add a "\n" string to the String variable riga, or to add the following lines:
z.write((char)13);
z.write((char)12);
immediately after the
z.write(riga.getBytes(),0,riga.length());
instruction, but these solutions does not work.
Is someone so kind to help me please ?

The readLine() method removes new line characters as it returns one line of data at a time. When creating a zip file you want to retain all the characters in the input file. Below is the code I used to test the creation and reading of a zip file. Hope it helps.
import java.io.*;
import java.util.zip.*;
public class TestZip
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException
zip( args[0] );
System.exit(0);
static private void zip(String fileName) throws IOException
// Write Zip file
byte[] iobuff = new byte[512];
int bytes;
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream( fileName );
ZipOutputStream zos = new ZipOutputStream( new FileOutputStream( fileName + ".ZIP" ) );
ZipEntry ze = new ZipEntry( fileName );
zos.putNextEntry( ze );
while ( (bytes = fis.read( iobuff )) != -1 )
zos.write( iobuff, 0, bytes );
fis.close();
zos.close();
// Read Zip file and rewrite to verify contents are the same
ZipInputStream zis = new ZipInputStream( new FileInputStream( fileName + ".ZIP" ) );
zis.getNextEntry();
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream (fileName + ".UNZIP" );
while ( (bytes = zis.read( iobuff, 0, 512 )) != -1 )
fos.write( iobuff, 0, bytes );
fos.close();
zis.close();

• Password protect zip files-Terminal help

Hi. running OS 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro. I want to password protect a zip file (FPTGH.zip) to send to both PC and Mac users. I created the zip file using the finder. That worked like a champ. The file is on my desktop. I opened Terminal and entered zip -e, my zip file name.zip, entered the password (correctly) twice, and I repeatedly get the following message.
scm's MacBook-Pro:~ scm$ zip -e FPTGH.zip
Enter password:
Verify password:
zip error: Nothing to do! (FPTGH.zip)
scms-MacBook-Pro:~ scm$
Then I tried creating the zip from the original file, and I get the same message:
scm's-MacBook-Pro:~ scm$ zip -e FPTGH.txt
Enter password:
Verify password:
zip error: Nothing to do! (FPTGH.txt)
scms-MacBook-Pro:~ scmorgan$
WHAT am I doing wrong?
Stumped in Costa Rica. SC Morgan

Linc, I do have a file named FPTGH.txt on my desktop. I highlight it (although that shouldn't make an difference) and run the script in Terminal and continue to get the "zip error" mesage.
I've tried FPTGH FPTGH; FPTGH FPTGH.txt; and FPTGH.txt FPTGH.txt all with the error responses. When I try matching file names I get this:
sarah-morgans-MacBook-Pro:~ scmorgan$ zip -e FPTGH.txt FPTGH.txt
Enter password:
Verify password:
zip error: Invalid command arguments (password verification failed)
sarah-morgans-MacBook-Pro:~ scmorgan$
When I try use mismatched file names I get this:
sarah-morgans-MacBook-Pro:~ scmorgan$ zip -e FPTGH FPTGH.txt
Enter password:
Verify password:
zip warning: name not matched: FPTGH.txt
zip error: Nothing to do! (FPTGH.zip)
sarah-morgans-MacBook-Pro:~ scmorgan$
