Workflow step - Add record to mask

Hi,
Is there a workflow step that can add a record to a mask? Any ideas on how we can achieve that?

TS is correct,
this may be another solution, but a quite complex and I'm not sure that it works fine for your requirements. Besides, probabily enrichment is not in your MDM package because needs another license. In any case this solution required java customizing.

    1. User A adds a record say Product name .
    2. User B approves the records and then only this record should be available in the repository .

    Kindly follow the steps the achive your scenario.
    1. Select workflow table in the Data Manager and create a new workflow.
    2. Give workflow name (Ex: Create record approval) and other details set the Trigger action to "manual".
    3. Click on the browse button in the property named Workflow. It will open the MS Visio prespective.
    4. Create a work flow as defined below
    Start -> Process -> Approve->stop
    5. Change the property of the steps Approve and Stop as follows to make the workflow meaningful.
    Approve
    Name - "Send for Approval"
    Assignee user - say "MDUser" (User who send the added record for approval) remove other users to avoid confusion.
    Stop
    Name - "Add record in the MDM"
    Assignee user - say "MD_Manager" (User who approves) remove other users.
    6. Save the workflow.
    7. Execute the add record and approve scenario as follows
    a. Login as "MDUser" in the datamanager. Add a record, right click on the record, select workflows -> Add to job->  Create record approval (Workflow name) from the context menu.
    b. select Workflow tab in the properties. Select the workflow (Status is Unlaunched) and launch the workflow using the launch option from the context menu.
    c. The status will now change to received. Using context menu select "Next Step" -> "Send for approval".
    d. Now Login as "MD_manager". Go to workflow tad in the properties. You can find a workflow job with status "received". Click on the workflow job, you can see the record(s) assigned to the workflow in the record pane.
    e. Select "Next step" -> "Add record to MDM" from the context menu of the workflo job.
    You can add one or more records to a workflow job. Also try adding some validation in the workflow steps. Refer Data manager refernce guide for more details.
    Now I am done with the process of creating and executing the workflow for your scenario. Hope this helps.

    Does anyone know a way to start workflow automatically for ALL records without human interference?
    I want to start workflows every day. For instance to recalculate, re-validate, re-assign or syndicate ALL records of a table.

    I suppose recalculate and validate all recodrs once a day don't make sense when that records is the same
    and records wasn't changing
    However, you can use Autolaunch = Threshold with Max Time = 24 hour(for example)
    workflow will fire when Max Time say greater then time last launched job.
    And few another ways:
    1) you can use task sheduler for launch import manager and turn autolaunch workflow when it do import
    2) turn automatic import process(MDIS) once a day and use workflow for add records
    3) developed Java application which used MDM JAVA API for start workflow

    Hi Alexander,
    Records can be added to the workflow only when the entries in the table (on which workflow is created) are changed/created. There are various settings you need to do to trigger/ assign records to a workflow.
    <b>Trigger Action</b>: The available options are "Record Add/Update/Import/Manual". Choose the appropriate action.
    If you want to trigger the workflow launch automatically, you need to set the "<b>Max Records Launch</b>"(will be launched automatically only when this amount is reached) and "<b>Max Time Launch</b>" (You can set it to 0 hours to lauch immediately)can also be used.
    If you want to add manually add records to a Workflow job, in the Data Manager, first click on the workflow tab(<b>This is important</b> otherwise, this option is disabled), then select a record, right click -> Workflow -> then add to the workflow job.

  • Workflow trigger while record import

    Hi all,
    Can someone explain me the working of a workflow which gets triggered automatically on a "record import"? I tried testing "record add" and "record update" and they seem to work fine. I'm using SP05 Patch 2.
    My scenario is such that i want to launch this workflow automatically when records are imported via Import server.
    But this doesnt seem to work. The records are being imported but i can no way see them being added to this workflow.
    Will the workflow be launched for those records which are "updated" via import server or for those which are only "created" freshly?

    Are you using the syndication step in WF1?  If the record is checked out when you syndicate it and then reimport it, it will not go into WF2.  A checked out record won't go into a new workflow. 
    Here's what you should do:
    1.  Configure WF1 to check record out during workflow, but check it back in when the workflow is complete.
    2.  Configure syndication server to automatically push records that get changed to the outbound port.
    3.  Configure the import map to launch WF2.
    4.  WF2 should check the record out while the record is in the workflow, and check it back in when the workflow is complete.
    What I was saying earlier is that when you import a record change, the syndication server will recognize the record changed, and push the record to the outbound port.  What you want to do is have the record go through the workflow before it gets syndicated.  In order to do this you need to launch the workflow from the import map using the setting that Jitesh described.

    I have a SharePoint Server 2013 with latest updates. Worflow Manager 1.0 installed and configured correctly. The server has a website, site temblate is Reacods Center. This site is default. On the site I created a blank Document library "TestLib"
     If I create workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013, workflow works normally. Workflow set Title of element to "MyCustomTitle" and Write to History string "Done!".
    If I create Empty Solution in Visual Studio 2013, insert into solution Workflow and make same actions, my solution at deployment step fails with error:
    "error occurred in deployment step 'add solution' value cannot be null Parameter name: g"
    Please, help me to resolve this problem?

    Hi,
    What if stop this service, then start it again, perform an iisreset? It will make the change applied to the whole farm.
    Also, you can check the ULS logs to see if there is any unexpected error occurs when deploying this solution.

  • Workflow step not executed...

    Hi,
    In my workflow requirement (for VA01), I want to record the status in a custom table as follows;
    Approver id     date   time    status
    ABC                                     Submitted for approval
    ABC                                     Approved (or) Rejected
    So I have created a step called 'update custom status' after the step that sends email to the approver agent whose details stored in another custom table. Then I associated a task with this step which is bound to a custom class / method which has the logic to write the status to the custom table.
    The issue is I do not see this step excuted. I checked in the log.
    What can be wrong ?
    Workflow steps are as follows;
    1. Read the document's net value and store in a variable.
    2. Read the custom table for agents list to whom the doc has to be sent for approval.
    3. Send email for approval.
    4. update custom status.
    In the graphical view, I can see the update custom status step being called (Green link from previous step to this step) but after that no progress.
    Am I missing passing some values ? Or is this step not giving any results ? Whats happening ?
    Details on this update custom status step are as follows;
    A custom task with terminating event set as _WORKITEM defined. (not synchronous)
    A step of type activity defined and bound to the above task with binding done.. (what values should I pass to record the above needed details.)
    In other words, how can I record the status in my custom table ?

    I think its a background step. If yes, then make it foreground and debug and see what is the problem. Also check for short dumps and turn on the event trace and see the terminating event is getting triggered.

  • Url link in User Decision workflow step

    Hi Experts,
    I had created a workflow for "Employee transfer" process using SWDD tcode.
    I had a created a workflow step with type as "User Decision".I had included "Approve" & "Reject" decision options.
    Now i want to include URL link along with "Approve" & "Reject" in the user decision workflow step (i.e) The manager needs to see the URL link along with "Approve" & "Reject" in his SAP workflow inbox.
    Can anyone guide me...

    Hi Krishna,
    I understand your issue. I have faced a similar issue in my project.
    Here is the solution!
    To add link of a URL you need to have the binding with the BO of the transaction your are refering to. To do this, you need to bind your BO event (triggering event) to the workflow container and then the workflow container to task container. This BO value should flow from event-> workflow -> task container to get the link in the User Decision.
    To do the binding you need to follow the following steps:
    1. Go to t-code SWDD and open your workflow template.
    2. Go to Basic Data (cap sign button at the top of the screen) or click Ctrl + F8
    3. Go to Start Events tab.
    4. In the Object type enter your BO name (BO for the transaction you need to add as link), in Event of object enter the BO event. This would serve as the triggering event for your workflow.
    5. Click on 'B' i.e. Binding Defined, click on generate automatic binding. It would automatically generate the appropriate binding for the workflow. You can also alter the binding as per requirement. This binding would ensure that the URL comes under 'objects and attachments' section.
    6. Click on 'C' i.e. Start Condition. A dialog would open, select the appropriate start condition for the workflow. Check the condition before saving (recommended).
    6. Click on 'A' to Activate the binding and start condition. All 'A', 'B' and 'C' would get green.
    7. Save the changes made and activate your workflow.
    8. Do the binding between the workflow and the user decision step. Select automatic binding (recommended).
    You can also refer to the similar thread that I had provided solution to. This would help you resolve the issue!

  • Workflow to add computer to Active Diretory

    I have a mac mini server in our lab with the latest snow leopard server on it.  I've been using it to image our macs in the lab using netboot and it's been working nicely.  I want to expand on it's capabilities and maybe even have it built the whole image on it's own.
    One of the first crucial steps after putting the OS on the mac is connecting it to the active directory server.  Is it possible to create a workflow to do that?  Does anyone have an example of one?  I'm fairly new to automator and workflows so any websites with tutorials would also be useful as well.
    Is it also possible to set up a workflow for when a new user logs in?  When I deploy a mac to a person I have to sit with them for about 10 minutes and walk through some basic configuration.  We set up the password for the screensaver, set up the screensaver, activate filevault, and then configure outlook and communicator for office 2011.  Are their ways to automate that as well?

    Hi Roie,
    In theory you can use the "Apply System Configuration Settings" feature of SIU to assign a computer name and bind Macs to AD,
    However, in our testing we have not yet seen this feature actually work.
    So we adapted a Unix script instead, packaged it and install the script in our workflow with "Add Packages". Our solution is a bit involved and not for the faint hearted. It would be better if Apple could fix SIU. But check my profile and e-mail me directly if you would like a copy of our naming and binding script.
    One option for handling some of your other Mac desktop mangement issues would be to activate the Workgroup Management feature on your Mac server. This involves binding Macs both to AD and to your Mac server (the so called Goldent Triangle configuration).

    I am deplyoing a  solution which has  custom web parts- vwp- appln pages, event receivers.
    It was working fine till last week. I was able to deploy the solution and able to see the web parts and func. was working.
    But now from the last 2 days onwards, when I tried to depoy this soution, I am getting the error
    "Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': A timeout has occurred while invoking commands in SharePoint host process "
    may i know why am getting this error.
    note: my dev machine- Win Srvr 2012 - VS 2012- SP 2013 - SP D 2013 was having soem issues  with the space in C drive.
    once i have done the  index reset few months back and i started getting space in C:\ Drive is 0 bytes.
    so what my infra. team  has done is , increased the space in drive to 150 GB[ it was a  VM ].
    help is appreciated !

    Goto the following regustry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\SharePointTools
    Add the following as a DWORD (wont be there by default)
    ChannelOperationTimeout
    REG_DWORD that specifies the time, in seconds, that Visual Studio waits for a SharePoint command to execute. If the command does not execute in time, a SharePointConnectionException is thrown.
    The default is 120 seconds.

    Every time you BULK COLLECT into a collection type the value is overwirtten. So you need to try something like this.
