Working around bogus top-level folders in catalog

I have a catalog originally created on Mac and then moved to Windows, and it has two poison top-level folders that cause various SDK methods to fail.  For example, they cause catalog:setActiveSources({folder}) to have an assertion failure.
For one of the folders, folder:getPath() returns nil. For another of the folders, folder:getPath() returns a Windows UNC file path that doesn't exist. I discovered this heuristic for identifying these bogus folders:
function isValidTopLevelFolder (folder)
    local success, f = LrTasks.pcall (function ()
        return catalog:getFolderByPath (folder:getPath ()) end)
    return success and f
    end
I've already provided this catalog to Becky Sowada of Adobe, following up on a bug report in the feedback forum. But I thought this work-around might be of usefulness to others someday.

Not quite, what I wanted to do… But, I think I can work with the "Unified folder view".

  • MobileMe top-level folders not accepting mail messages

    Strange thing...
    Now that iPhone has "push" mail, I decided to take all my mail from Mail.app on my mac up to my MobileMe account. I wanted to do this as-is, but it's not quite that simple... However, the whole folder structure and all e-mails therein are now happily living in MobileMe.
    Except that they are not! All the Top-Level folders that contain other folders are now white in Mail.app, and don't exist at all in MobileMe. It's as if all folders were one level higher than they should be - all folders directly contained in a white parent folder appear as top level folders in MobileMe!! On the iPhone, they do exist, but their names are greyed out. Both in Mail.app and on the iPhone, they are empty and you cannot add mail messages to them even though, in Mail.app "on my Mac" they still contain mail and will happily accept mail messages...
    What gives? Is there something I need to do to change them from "folder folders" into "mail folders that happen to also have folders in them"???
    G>

    Not a single answer or post on this...
    I decided to create new folders and add a dummy place holder message in them, then move over all the subfolders to this one. There was a bit of strange behaviour when synchronising with MobleMe (old folder disappeared without my deleting it, etc) but now all is well and all my top level folders can accept mails.
    During the process, it seems like MobileMe didn't know that these folder existed - when renaming or deleting them, I do an error saying that they did not exist. Indeed, on MobileMe, they did not exist and this resulted in all the first level subfolders being at the top level in me.com - very messy. It looks a lot better now!

  • Not all Top level folders showing item count

    Hi there, I have Aperture 3.2.2 running on OSX 10.6.8.
    I use referenced files and a folder structure with a top folder and projects nested.
    Some of my top level folders when clicked, show ALL images in the projects nested below. Others do not. When I examine them in finder, nothing jumps out at me that is different. Have you any experience with this happening? Thanks, Deb

    Here is a screen shot.  Some of the blue folders will show all images nested in the projects below, some show nothing.  ie: 2013 shows all, but 2012, shows nothing.  You must click on each individual project to reveal the items contained.  I would like to click on each top level folder and see all items nested beneath.  There must be something I'm doing different, but for the life of me, can't figure it out.  Why some show and some don't.

  • Only detect presence or absence of top level folders.

    If a top level folder is missing, please have Lightroom assume that all subfolders are missing on revmovable drives. If the drive is reattached and LT sees the top folder again, please let it assume that all the subfolders are there also, until we use a file that is not actually there.
    Long winded waiting on drives after reconnection is not necessary. Or at least give us an option to tell Lightroom that the drive is actually there, don't bother checking further.

    Unfortunately it does not working. I am using jboss AS 7.
    Structure details:
    - ear contains war
    - the war contains the beans.xml (with alternative entry) in WEB-INF
    - jar B is located in war in WEB-INF/lib (jar B contains also beans.xml in META-INF)
    - injection point is in a JSF controller (jar in WEB-INF/lib in war)
    Always I1 is injected. But I do not know if I explained it clearly. I1 is always present. I2 is optional but shall have a higher priority.

  • Copying Folders Within Catalog?

    I have a large LR Catalog on my laptop, and I want to move the photos & the LR catalog to my desktop.
    I just want to move certain Folders in the Catalog I've been using.
    Is there a way to do that?
    The Photos themselves are on an External HD, so they are easy to move.
    The LR Catalog is on the Laptop's HD, and there are many separate folders.   The Catalog itself had been copied & put on my Desktop previously, but now that a few thousand pics have been aded, I want to copy just the new stuff.
    I probably should have started a new Catalog - but I didn't.
    Using LR3.4.1 and Macs

    GPW - I know you can export a single folder as a catalog so if you only have a few top-level folders, you could export those from the laptop as individual catalogs then import them into the main catalog.  You may also be able to select multiple folders and export them but it is unclear from the menu item (which does not change to plural) and I have not tested that. feature.
    I tend to work on my laptop when away from home and wanting to label and cull images before importing to my main machine.  I do like keeping a single database though so I make sure to export the entire catalog from the laptop, import it into my desktop and when I have verified that it is there and backed up I delete the images from the catalog on the laptop.  That way I never have two versions of the same image.  Just a thought, not sure exactly of your work flow but wanted to share what works for me.
    As an aside, if you do Keyword on the laptop, be sure to import a keyword listing from the desktop that respects your hiearchy or you will be creating new, duplicate keywords all over the place

  • How do I keep folder settings below the top level

    There's a certain Finder setting I prefer for folders regarding icon view. I use a size and arrangement that works very well for me. After replacing my older MacBook Pro with a new MBP and transferring all my data, the setting I prefer only works at the top level of any given folder. Any enclosed folder needs to be individually set to my preferred settings. Is there a universal setting in the Finder for folders that will include all enclosed folders?

  • Why can't i add top level imap folders (mailboxes) in Mail???

    Having used MS Outlook for a while with my IMAP account, i thought i would try out the new and improved Mail in OS Lion. The structure of my mailbox on the left hand panel is as follows:
    MAILBOXES
          INBOX
              CLIENT 1
              CLIENT 2
              CLIENT 3

              CLIENT 7
         SENT
         TRASH
    MY COMPANY NAME
         TRASH
         JUNK
         SENT
    This has worked fine with outlook and with outlook i am able to add extra IMAP folders (or mailboxes as Mail calls them). In outlook i can add to the flient folders and the subfolders inside a client folder.
    However, with Mail, when i 'add new mailbox' it will only let me add a new 'folder' inside one of my client folders. It will not let me add a foler to the 'Client' level.
    If i add a new mailbox and try and place it at the top 'Client' level, the new folder ends up going here...

    Can anyone help? As this is the reason i have to use outlook because Mail wont let me create new IMAP folders at my 'Client' this level?!?
    Any help would be appriciated, maybe im looing at it wrong as im used to outlook

    I am having the same sort of problem with my IMAP e-mail account. My INBOX has several subfolders, but most of the time, those are not visible. Sometimes (what causes this, I don't know yet), the subfolders do show, but then all the e-mails in it, including those in the INBOX, are not visible...
    Some weird bug this is, which may be related to Shaun's problem? I hope this gets fixed, or somebody knows what causes this and/or how to circumvent this.
    -edit-
    Maybe it is an old problem, but just like Shaun, I thought I'd would give Mail app 5 a try after the upgrade to Lion, so I wouldn't know. But I think it is an old problem, since my e-mail provider has a work-around posted on their support site, for Apple Mail and iOS Mail. This seems to work great for me (removing the root path 'INBOX' and using another connection port in the account settings), but might not be a solution to other people having the same problem.

  • Drag & drop stops working when I drag outside the top-level window

    I have implemented drag & drop in my application, using the pre-JDK 1.4 approach. It works fine until I drag outside the top-level window, then back in again. My drop target receives a dragExit, but doesn't get a dragEnter when I drag back in. It then gets frequent calls to dragOver - but the DropTargetDragEvent says there are no DataFlavors available.
    Is this a known problem with d&d? Is there a known workaround?
    Thanks
    - rick cameron

    I could really understand that it annoys you. I tried it on my machine and the "save as" dialog box is placed correctly. I couldn't pull the box out of the monitor because the menue bar keeps me under it.
    Do you have the application frame activated? Try turning it off. "window > application frame"
    The problem might be here: The behaviors of the menu bar and dock are adjustable. Go to the system prefs and try playing around with the Mission Control settings. At work I have menu bar and dock on both monitors. At home I set the prefs so that only the main screen has menu bar and dock.
    I'm just guessing. Don't beat me if this doesn't help.

    It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Create view that shows resource work in hours per month for top level tasks on the project

    I'm relatively new to project so hopefully this is easy.
    The management for the organization I am working at now wants me to break out every resource on the projects hours by top level tasks per month. Resource usage gets very close but I can't figure out how to make it show only the top level tasks. Does anyone
    have any ideas on how to do this?

    Hi Nick,
    I'd suggest (assuming you're working with Project Standard, not connected to Project Server) to generate a visual Excel report (project tab of the ribbon, then visual report), choosing the Budget work report template. Then in Excel, inserting the resource
    and task column, you'll see the work consolidated at any task level by resources.
    See reference below:

  • Changing permissions on a top level public folder WITHOUT affecting the folders underneath it in Exchange 2007

    Hello everyone,
    We have a pubilc folder we woudl like to lockdown to just the IT techs, but we want eveything below to function as it normally has been.  We have several folders underneath this folder with various permissions for our end users that we dont want changed.
    How would you change the permissions on a top level folder without affecting (propagating) the folders underneath it?  Also, If I go into the "Administration" tab of the properties of the top level Public Folder I see an option to
    make this folder available to: "All users with access permission" or "Owners only". Would it be as simple to select "Owners only" here or will that restrict the down level folders as well to just the owners?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,
    You use PFDAVAdmin to customize your permission level for mailbox and public folder. This is good tool which helped me a lot in most of the permission issue for PF and Mailbox. Follow the below article for more detail of PFDAVAdmin Tool

  • Numbered folders appearing on top level of HD

    Past few days these folders keep reappearing. They are completely empty, I dump them, and then they show up again. I've been looking through the forums and haven't found any reference. Did the basic troubleshooting/permissions routines and ran Onyx. No dice they keep coming back. Any ideas on what they are or if they are signs of a problem?
    the folders look like this:
    9ffffff8200
    and contain folders like this:
    -05fffffff8ffffff-0000000000
    -05fffffff8ffffff-0000000004
    -05fffffff8ffffff-59e5700100
    -05fffffff8ffffff-0014043c0a
    -05fffffff8ffffff-028802cccc
    etc....

    I HOPE THIS HELPS people to see what I'm getting on the top level only:  Here are 2 images -- a before and after:  I have a very plain empty folder called "Test Folder 1 May 2015" in the first one (along with some other folders) and then in the second one you can see I duplicated that folder -- but it now has a progress bar and and "x" showing!  (Just the "duplicated" file - the one with copy in the name).  This is a screen shot (using "Totalfinder" if anyone is wondering).  Same with my daughter's new MacBook (and she has essentially nothing on it, is not using TotalFinder - but the same problem.  Hey, maybe it's not a problem, maybe it's a "feature" of Yosemite or just the way it treats root level folders now--- but I sure would like to get rid of this weirdness if possible without breaking the system!

  • EXIT button on the top level form is not working.

    Hi I have 10g forms deployed on the web.
    On the top level form, there is a exit button on it.
    And for this form, under ALERTS I have two alerts viz. QUIT_ALERT and BANNER_ALERT.
    Now when I press the EXIT button on the form, nothing is happening. Neither prompting the ALERT nor closing the FORM.
    Where and What could be the problem??
    I have the following code for the exit button
    IF G$_DISPLAY_ALERT('QUIT_ALERT','Do you really wish to quit?') = ALERT_BUTTON1 THEN
    EXIT_FORM;
    END IFAnd the function G$_DISPLAY_ALERT has following code
    FUNCTION G$_DISPLAY_ALERT(ALERT_NAME IN VARCHAR2,

    ALERT_ID ALERT;
    AL_NAME VARCHAR2(30);
    ALERT_BUT NUMBER;

    ALERT_BUT := SHOW_ALERT(ALERT_ID);
    RETURN ALERT_BUT;
    END;Edited by: Charan on Mar 30, 2011 2:01 PM

    seems like some trigger is firing, because i'm getting a CAUTION popup now saying Please Acknowledge.Actually, the PAUSE() built-in is what brings up the "Please Acknowledge" alert. Clearly, your trigger is firing so there must be something wrong with either your WBP trigger code or your G$_DISPLAY_ALERT program unit.
    Try the same technique on your program unit. I would also suggest you display a message in your Exception handler. My guess is that your function is failing but since you don't report the failure, it appears that your code runs successfully.
    FUNCTION G$_DISPLAY_ALERT(ALERT_NAME IN VARCHAR2,
                          MSG_STRING IN VARCHAR2) RETURN NUMBER IS
       ALERT_ID         ALERT;
       AL_NAME          VARCHAR2(30);
       ALERT_BUT        NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       Message('Alert_name: '||ALERT_NAME);
       PAUSE;
    IF ALERT_NAME IS NULL THEN
       AL_NAME := 'G$_WARNING_ALERT';
    ELSE
       AL_NAME := ALERT_NAME;
    END IF;
    ALERT_ID := FIND_ALERT(AL_NAME);
    IF ID_NULL(ALERT_ID) THEN
       Message('Unable to find Alert: '||ALERT_NAME);
       Message('Unable to find Alert: '||ALERT_NAME);
       RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    END IF;
    SET_ALERT_PROPERTY(ALERT_ID, ALERT_BUT, MSG_STRING);
    ALERT_BUT := SHOW_ALERT(ALERT_ID);
    RETURN ALERT_BUT;
    END;Then you can see what the value of ALERT_NAME is and verify your code is executing as expected.

  • Folders - No Top Level

    I imported pictures into
    c:\documents\catalog\2007
    c:\documents\catalog\2008
    c:\documents\catalog\Misc
    ...etc...
    In my Folders view, I see:
    > Folders
    > 2007
    > 2008
    > Misc
    How do I get it to show the parent directory "catalog", so that I see:
    > Folders
    > Catalog
    > 2007
    > 2008
    > Misc
    Or, for that matter, the parent directory "documents", so that I see:
    > Folders
    > Documents
    > Catalog
    > 2007
    > 2008
    > Misc
    Thanks!!

    Lee,
    You're a genuis. Dropped it into the folder, imported in place, and it added the folder to my Folder hierarchy.
    I deleted the image from catalog and disk, and the hierarchy remained.

  • Possible to Have ToC Default to Show Only Top Level (collapse sublevels)?

    Howdy!
    I'll bet I'm not the only one wishing for this.  Let's say you're using Captivate 4's Table of Contents feature with a longish movie of Cp slides, which is chunked into bite-size sections content-wise.  In the ToC, though, you can't mimic that same organization scheme; at least, the learner would first need to collapse all the ToC folders you've created so they see only the top-level listing.
    This can be a critical issue:  keeping the at-first-glance list in the ToC brief enough to be inviting to learners, yet allowing learners to drive which details are currently visible.
    A movie's topical hierarchy could be along these lines, for example ...
    Section 1 - National Brands
    What are National Brands?
    Why Are They Important to Our Business?
    Working with Nat. Brands
    Practice Your Knowledge
    Section 2 - International Brands
    What are International Brands?
    Why Are They Important to Our Business?
    Working with Intl. Brands
    Practice Your Knowledge
    You'd like to organize the ToC to show only the section titles (1st level) and to suppress the 2nd-level detail (slide titles) until the learner chooses to expand the folder to see those details.
    I've tried things like grouping the slides into sections in the Storyboard view and organizing the slides into sections strictly within the ToC -- both to no avail.
    Has anyone solved for this need yet?
    I'm all ears, and you'd be doing learners of the world a huge favor.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Jim.
    Thanks for being 'on the case' and looking into this so quickly.  Your
    findings are encouraging, although my user base is generally working with
    IE 6 and FP8 or 9.
    Since the only thing I may influence is getting  IT to help push out FP10,
    I'm hoping it's more of a player- than a browser-version issue.
    I'll test things out by Monday and let you know the results.  Wish me luck!

    Dave,
    I just tested this on my local web server and it worked fine.  I created a
    blank project with 8 slides.  Created my TOC with grouping... 2 slides in
    each group.  I turned on self paced learning.  I tried with and without the
    widget and it picked up where I left off in either case.  See

    I published using FP10 and IE8 to view.  Notice any difference between
    your project and this one?
    Thanks,
