Wrapper vs Non-wrapper Project Development Setup

Hello,
Considering that there would be 20 Page Definition and 5-6 flex asset types under same Attribute table, I can think of 2 development model as following:
1. One wrapper, one layout template which calls various other templates on basis of Page Definition. In this case, only one template has to be created as Usage having - "Element is used as Layout"
Wrapper (Uncached)
Layout (Cached)
Header (Cached)
Head (Cached)
Detail (on basis of Page Definition) (Cached)
Footer (Cached)
2. One Layout template per Page Definition. Every layout calls same header, head and footer elements BUT different body template. In this case, all the Layout templates are to be created with Usage having - "Element is used as Layout" and are Uncached (Cache criteria - false) while other elements are all cached.
Hence, I would like to know the following:
Are there any other development model apart from this which can used?
Please explain the impact of using this both models - performance and caching wise
In 2nd model, all the Layout templates are to be created with Usage having - "Element is used as Layout" so that this template are visible in Contributor UI, does this affects site performance in any way?
Any other point which should be considered while building development model for a project.

VS 2010 Pro "Other Project Types" / "Setup and Deployment": No items found

Hello,
I have VS 2010 Pro Version 10.0.40219.1 SP1 Rel. I have developed a VB.Net application and would like to deploy it. When I try to add a setup project to the solution, I get "No items found" where a list of project types should be in the "Add New Project"
dialog, "Installed Templates", "Other Project Types", "Setup and Deployment". Shouldn't the Pro version have those templates installed? If so, can I copy them from somewhere? I noticed that "Database" and "Test Projects" also have empty lists. There are lots
of templates available for the various languages.
I tried to modify the VS 2010 installation by adding support for SharePoint, but that did not help. Do I have to uninstall, reboot, and re-install? It's so cumbersome considering that I would need to redo the updates as well.
OS is Win 7 Pro, processor is Intel E8400.

Thanks for your post.
The Setup Project template is located in: Installed Templates >> Other Project Types >> Setup and Deployment >> Visual Studio Installer. Would you please check if the templates exists in this path?
If not, you can follow the steps below to reset your Visual Studio templates:
Please open Windows Explorer, and navigate to <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE
(by default is C:\Program Files \Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE);
Delete the ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache
folder;
Open Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010) under Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 -> Visual Studio Tools (run it with Administrator privilege: right-click the program -> Run as administrator);
Run the devenv /InstallVSTemplates switch;
Run the devenv /Setup switch.

Attribute Functions in Oracle Project Management Setup

I have been trying to find the functionality and applicability of the menu option " Attribute Functions" that is available in Oracle Project Management Setup.
I have used attribute groups and context to create view / placeholders to capture additional information related to the project, but have not been able to figure out the applicability of Attribute Functions.
Please help me if anyone has used it or know how to use it.

Oracle Projects archives all submitted task and workplan progress. You can correct
submitted progress records and create backdated progress records.
Backdating Progress

You can create backdated progress records to fill gaps in the progress history of a task
or project. You can select any non-cycle progress date prior to the system date and enter
progress for this past date.
For example, you can enter backdated progress for a Friday in the past even if a project
has a progress cycle with Monday as the reporting day.
You enter an As of Date, progress status, a brief overview, comments, and physical
percent complete when you enter backdated progress.
Backdated progress transactions are for informational purposes

Customized Skins in Non-English Projects

I have a customized skin that when used non-English projects,
it omits special characters in the buttons for Contents and Index.
I didn't create the skin so I don't have Flash. Any suggestions on
how to fix the buttons to display the missing characters?

If she's no longer with the company and she was using Flash,
could it by chance be a company license for Flash that you could
take over...?
Rick referred to the LNG file, which exists in both the
source files and the output files. Do the copying and pasting with
the source versions. (The output version will be overwritten from
the source version every time.)
If Rick's suggestion doesn't work, the only other thing I can
think of would be to check the .fla files themselves in Flash. The
person who tweaked the files may have done something to the dynamic
text fields for the button labels. If you can get a copy of Flash,
you could check two things on the button label text field
(double-click the Label object twice to get to this point):
1. See if "Use device fonts" is selected in a dropdown on the
left side of the Properties panel. This selection won't let you
embed fonts. If it's selected, try #2 below instead. If it isn't,
select it, export the movie, and put it in your output files.
2. Change "Use device fonts" to "Anti-alias for animation."
Click the Embed button. Select every option with Latin in it, and
click OK. Export to a movie, and put it in your output files.
Note that you'd have to do this for each button that isn't
displaying the characters properly.

Transfer material from Valuated project non valuated project

Hi Experts,
While i am trying to transfer material from Valuated project stock to Non valuated project with T.Code MB1B movement type 415 'Q', I am getting following error.
WBS element has different inventory valuation
Message no. CN769
Diagnosis
The project definition for WBS element only allows the following stock control:
No project stock
No project stock with defined valuation M
' ' = non-valuated project stock
'M' = valuated project stock
System Response
Account assignment not possible.
Procedure
Change the settings for the project stock in the project definition (Control tab) or use a suitable WBS element.
Kindly suggest me how to trafer material from Non valued project stock to valuated project stock.

Actually, you sohuld not be transferring stock to non-vlauated proejct directly. In case of non-valuated project, stock is never valuated while in case of valuated project it is valuated. So there is basic difference in valuation method. This will create inconistency if you attempt ot transfer it directly.
You should rather transfer this stock to general stock and then transfer to non-valuated project stock.

Capturing using a system-based setup vs. project-based setup

Trying to build a library of my 50 DV tapes on an external 4T hard drive and I am supposing that I need a system-based setup instead of a project-based setup during capture. Since my Adobe Premiere Pro SC6 Classroom in a Book tells me to check with my system administrator what should I do when I am the system administrator and don't know what to do?

1) Create a folder on your storage system.
2) Create a new Premiere Project, saved to that same folder. Make sure that scratch disc are set to "same as project"
3) Capture tapes.
You may re-organize tape's files after closing Premirere, or create a separate sub-folders and projects for each tape to begin with, depending on your needs.

Any body have any documents (or link for documents) which explain complete life cycle of project functional setups and its explanation with screen shots.

Reg: Mobile application development setup

Hi,
I am new to the SAP NetWeaver platform. We are working on SAP NW - MI application development. For this, I am trying to prepare Development setup.
On Windows 2003 machine, I installed Java EE ServerDB2NWDS (provided in SAP TechEd DVD)
Above this, I am trying to install MDK 2.5 (downlaoded from SDN site).
Here comes the problem.
I just unzipped the MDK2.5.zip and placed the "features" and "plugins" in the NWDS's eclipse setup folder. When I try to configure MDK, it asks for a "MI Home folder" path.
To which it says, we will be providing it while installing "Mobile Infrastructure". I don't know what this is ?
Is Java EE ServerDB2NWDS+MDK2.5 not sufficient for developing Mobile applications?
Do we have to install any "Mobile Infrastructure" ? Where is it available ?
What more do we need to install to develop mobile applications ?
Please help me....I am confused.....Also any link with the information related to Mobile application development installations and configurations would be of great help.

Yes, you have to install the MI client and map the installation folder SAP Mobile Infrastructure to the "MI Home folder" path.
You will find the client installation in sap marketplace for SP16 the file name is NWMCLIENT16_0-10002889.sca

Valuated and Non-valuated project stock in same SAP system

Dear All,
Can we operate with the system where projects are with valuated and non-valuated project stock at the same time. If yes, are there any precautions we need to take before doing this.
Currently we are changing to 'valuated project stock' from 'non-valuated project stock' due to advantages of 'valuated project stock'. But since we are implementing this change in already stable system where projects are running with 'non-valuated project stock'. Please suggest of there are any complication with this.

Thanks for your time and efforts to share your thoughts with all of us. Hope you will not mind, did you done this kind of changes to profiles midst of the project in the past? or its your guess.
Because, many times these kind of questions comes from business to change, but we are not sure how it will affect the existing as well new projects. In such circumstances, normally we politely propose to go with two profiles rather changing the existing one since we are not sure of how it will affect.
It would be great help to all of us if you can share your experiences how the goods movement and value flows have taken in system for old projects and new projects. What kind of changes you could notice after changing profile in terms of .. a few of them
1. Goods movement
2. Consumption of production orders and internal order.
3. Settlement and RA (customer projects/ investment projects)
4. POC calcualtion of projects

Non-Valuated Project Stock Report

Dear Sir,
I am assigning some valuated and non-valuated materials to the Project. So I have selected Project Stock in Project Defination. So I can see Valuated Project Stock in MBBS but I can't see non-valuated project stock . So where should I come to know these stock also ?

Hi,
If you check your project definition control tab you can find which type of stock you are using, whether it is valuated project stock or non-valuated project stock. Since SAP is giving a radio button to select this, it means you can not maintain both valuated and non-valuated project stock.
In your case may be some of the material code you created as non-valuated material for the particular plant, not for project. Please check it again.
You can also refer sap help under project system > material to know better.

I have no clue about recovering the info, but when you say you save you should always use Save As. That clears unneeded info from the file. With the file size you have, that may be an important need.

You question can't be answered. For a decision we need to know what kind of project you mean. What kind of application you want to develop.
Sample: if you need mobile there is only one version (stable or not), you can use. For SOA it's different, as it is for WebCenter.
Please providde more infomation.

Can Be Perl 5.8.3 Safely Ignored in Development Setups?

Hi,
I setup an Oracle 10g 10.2.0.4 on my notebook where I use a 5.10 for scripting. I would just to know if in such an development setup the embedded per can be safely ignored and then entries such in path and the PERL5LIB which generate troubles to the current perl version.
I see that about all the scripts are within the sysman folders and my local setup is also with no dbconsole so this should more not harmful.

Hi,
Mostly server can have pultiple versions of a software installed. It is up to you which one you want to use. If you want to use perl 5.10 then you can change the environment variables to use 5.10 binary and remove any poiters to old version.

Thanks for the update Brian.
At first I had never heard of the name "PoemaFenix.jws" and because of that I thought it was JDeveloper that added the "Fenix" suffix because of some illegal state.
But because of your update today, I looked into this and found some references to "PoemaFenix.jws" in the "dependencyList" of some of our .jpr files as "sourceOwnerURL". (These could have been introduced a while back when someone rearranged some of our project files, although I haven't been able to get this confirmed.)
Anyway, I did not try the workaround you suggested, but I updated the .jpr files replacing "PoemaFenix.jws" with the correct name "Poema.jws" and I was not able to reproduce the issue using the scenario I used before. So, that looks like it solved the issue here (and the activeWorkspaceURL is <path>Poema.jws again).
I also tried the following scenario to check how this could have been introduced:
(1) create an application "MyFirstApp", resulting in "MyFirstApp.jws"
(2) create two empty projects "Model" and "ViewController"
(3) configure the ViewController project to be dependent on the Model project
(4) Save All, and click the "Remove from Applications" icon while "MyFirstApp" is selected in the Applications Navigator
(5) on the file system rename "MyFirstApp.jws" to "MySecondApp.jws"
(6) open "MySecondApp.jws" in JDeveloper
(7) on the ViewController project properties dependencies panel toggle the checkbox for the Model project off and on again, click OK
This resulted in a "ViewController.jpr" file containing this:
