Writing to file in applet

Hi guys!
I have an applet and i want it to write to a file, but i know that there is some problem with security, but i really need a way to save some information aomewhere during the program an dit must be an applet. is there away? thanx.
here's the code:

BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("vote.txt",true));
for (int i=0;i<10;i++)
     out.write(""+a);
     out.newLine ();

You can save information on the server by making the applet open a connection with the server (probably not very good security-wise but possible) or save it on the client in a cookie.
