Wrong letter shows on screen, when typing, over and over.
I have a Pentium 4 tower. I'm using Windows 7. Today, when I type an email address, the @ will not show. Instead, the quotation mark " shows in its place. Tried the Control and Shift suggestion, but no luck. I have done nothing to my computer recently. Made no changes to cause this. Would sure appreciate a fix-it, fast.
O.K.....now I can't post this until I "choose a board". Can't seem to be able to do that. No matter what I click on, I get the pop-up and bleep alarm, asking me if I'm sure I want to leave this page. Seems like I've just wasted a lot of time. : (

I have the exact same issue.
I've had my MacBook Air since June 2011, and just noticed this white mark after recently having the machine serviced by Apple Techs. (mainboard replaced due to frequent freezing).
Nothing new to add, your description matches mine, let me know if you've had luck getting it replaced. I can't see it when I view my screen straight on or "optimally".

If running 10.7 or later hold down Command-R at Startup.
This should invoke recovery Mode.
Choose Disk Utility.
Select your Hard drive. Inspect the SMART Status in the lower right of the window for "Verified".
Select the Mac OS X Volume (originally Macintosh HD) click (Repair Disk)
If errors, run again until it comes clean or gets stuck.
Report any error messages. -

I have installed an app : Birdfield guide in my iPhone 4. But the app is not working after installation. It shows black screen when opened. I need suggestions to make it work or the reasons for not working.
Yes TeeKnows, try deleting it and download it again. After finished installation if still shows black screen delete it out off 'running apps' by double tapping the home button and swipe it off. If still shows black screen then try fully turning off your iPad (holding the sleep button) and turn back on again.

Retina Mac shows gray screen when waking up: what to do besides loosing work?

This is the first time that my Retina MacBook Pro wakes up from sleep with a gray screen. After about 10-20 seconds, the MacBook falls asleep again.
Some points that might be relevant:
The only difference between power adapter and no power adapter is that with power adapter it does not go to sleep again.
The battery is almost full (I closed the lid last night when it was about 90%)
An external monitor was not attached when sleeping it, so I don't think How to fix a Macbook that does not always draw its internal screen after waking from sleep and having unplugged external display while asleep? applies.
I've run gfxCardStatus, almost always in "force integrated mode" (to conserve battery). And normally it wakes up correctly.
I run VMware Fusion 4.
All software is up-to-date and fully patched.
I tried to plugin an HDMI monitor and switch displays with Command-Fn-F1 and Command-Fn-F2, but that did not help (it would not switch displays).Before trying to:
reboot (by force a power off),
reset SMC
and/or reset PRAM/NVRAM
What options do I have that do not loose my work?

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
COMMAND-OPTION-P-R keys resets the PRAM. OS X keyboard shortcuts. -

Connect to your computer, fire up iTunes and do a Restore: From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore. -
My ipad 4 wif is ocked as my daughter locked putting in the password wrong too many times. When I try and do a restore it seems to be doing it until the end and then it say it can't do anything as it's locked, go to itunes to unlock.. It's driving me mental. tried twice now ...
I haven't synced with a password, I don't mind losing all the data I just want to be able to use it again !! I'm not sure what IOS it is, not sure it's the most recent, I have a feeling I'm not on IO7.

A prompt comes up on my TV screen when I try and purchase a movie "before you can make any purchases you must go to Itunes store on your computer and verify your account information". Have tried to do this to no avail - all my purchase and address details
it is a problem with the latest update. nothing you can do will fix it, besides rolling your apple tv back to the last update.

You could try a reset and see if that fixes it : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it doesn't then you could try restoring to your last backup and/or resetting back to factory defaults. But if it's a hardware issue then you will need to contact Apple. -

Just in time for my birthday...
Mid 2011 iMac with 10.6.8
Occasionally its fans would rev up to the maximum and stay there until computer is restarted or put to sleep. But today the fans were blowing (albeit more moderately) from the start. Previous solutions would not help and iMac would even put itself to sleep after a minute or less.
Resetting SMC didn't help, so I've tried to launch AHT while pressing D during the boot. It worked in the past, but now it showed gray screen with these two icons jumping around. On top of that, I couldn't find find both OSX and Drivers discs (facepalm). Luckily I had Lion install disc, so with it I launched Disk Utility and verified the disk. HDD itself passed, but OS partition was declared unrepairable and in need of format.
I have Time Machine, so I happily formatted and started installing Lion. But during install, every few minutes or even less, computer would go to sleep again. Despite that install managed to continue, but when it got to "Downloading additional stuff" part, progress stopped and countdown even started to go UP minute by minute.
I figured that every time iMac went to sleep (because probably it thought it was overheating) download had to start again and it would never finish. So I cancelled and restored Snow Leopard system from Time Machine. After booting from HDD, I verified it and it passed. But Diagnostics still won't launch.
Any ideas?Apple Hardware Test comes installed on the hard drive by default, but it's deleted when you erase the hard drive or you upgrade OS X.
In your case, you need the Mac OS X DVD. If you haven't got it, call Apple to get replacement discs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After getting the DVDs, insert the Mac OS X DVD and press D key while your Mac is starting to start Apple Hardware Test. Remember to run an extended test
