WRT300N Gaming Problem

Hi, I just bought WRT300N (1.03.3) and WMP300N (4.100.15.5) yesterday and was satisfied with the speed of surfing and downloading online. But the speed of playing games online is what I concern the most which didn't come out what I expected. I'm playing Call of Duty 2 at the lowest spec. It was more lagging than my previous Linksys Wireless-B combos. I'm experiencing stop and go (suddenly stop a second then back to the game) all the time during game-play. Is it my computer's problem or others? I have recognized the Game and Application in the Web-based Utility. Should I change the port range? And I got disconnected for a minute when a phone call comes in. Can you guys help please?

About the phone thing... hmmmm.. is your phone bandwidth 2.4 ghz? recommend to get a 5 ghz phone instead.. might fix that concern.. as for the bandwith... try setting your MTU to manual and value is at 1450.

  • WRT300N v2 problems

I have a WRT300N v2 which I am using as an AP on a network (containing both wired and wireless clients, mixed Vista 32 and 64 and an Xbox 360) which otherwise uses Windows ICS (on an XP box) to connect to the internet and to supply DHCP services.
Wireless clients on the network have problems in that Vista seems to drop the connection every two minutes, apparently checking/renewing the DHCP lease.
In order to try to troubleshoot this issue I upgraded the 300n to the latest firmware (v2.0.20). This hasn't made the slightest bit of difference to the initial problem, but now the XBox360 will not connect to the network at all (fails the connection test). A similarly configured laptop next ot the XBox360 can connect just fine - so signal, WEP key etc are all good. The Xbox gets a signal, can see the SSID etc, but just won't connect to the network. It could just be a coincidence, but all was fine until the moment of the upgrade - its been working for a year, but now nothing!
    Any advice...?
    Thanks!

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem...
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
If your Internet Service Providor is Cable follow this link
If your Internet Service Providor is DSL follow this link
    For xbox -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the Wireless tab and chnage the SSID(use a new/unique SSID), use WEP(do not use WPA)...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
    IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • 2011 MBP 15 gaming problem

I charged my battery to 100% then played Starcraft for a while and my battery was at 15% so i plugged in the charger. After about an hour i notice the indicator on the charger was green and i was thinking wow that was a fast charge, so i take a look at the battery and its at 15%. While i was playing Starcraft the battery didn't charge at all, it would go down to 14% start charging then stop charging at 15% then start charging again at 14% and it cycled like that for some time. So after i was done playing and closed out of Starcraft then the battery started charging. So battery charges only when not in starcraft. Anyone else have this problem? any solutions?

Get yourself a $8000 alienware gaming laptop from Dell, it will drink even more power and the battery will be dead in 30 minutes.
Laptops are designed with the right balance of performance and portability, you have to accept that or just get a desktop machine which perform about 2-3x better in games anyway. If you can't spend the money for that, then get yourself a console like a PS3 or a X-Box, both drink huge amounts of power, are basically heaters and need elaborate cooling.
Apple is shifting their entire laptop line over to integrated graphics, only the 2.2 Ghz 15" and better have the powerful 1GB Radeon 6750M for 3D gaming.
Take what you can get for as long as you can get it. It might be lame 2D games like Tetris and BubblePop here shortly.

  • Gaming problems

I am having problems getting booted playing Pirates of the caribbean online-- this has just happened recently- and I am losing my mind with their help-- any one have any problems with gaming-- I freeze and then POOF I am gone- poco1949

It is unlear what you are asking us to assist with. What model unit do you have? Check the specs of the game vs the specs of your unit for compatbility.  You can go to www.microsoft.com GAME ADVISOR and it has this link to cross check your specs with identified games.  Now, some games are not listed, so you may have to go to the manufacturer of that game and learn what specs are needed. Also, when online game playing check out the server access being used-private or the company.

  • Xfi xtreme gaming - problems with microph

hi, i just bought the xfi xtreme gaming sound blaster. but in the teamspeak, other mates hear there voice with hall, my voice and everything that?s happening on my pc, for example the music i ?play on my computer and the soundeffects in my games and sounds in windows. another problem is that, if i change the sound mode (for example from entertainment mode to gaming mode and back) my mixer settings reset. so what can i do?

i have already checked 'micrphone' in the recording settings. when i go to the xtreme gamer mixer settings, and i select the microphone under 'rec', another line with microphone appears and i don?t know what that mean. a buddy bought the same soundcard and has exactly the same problem. i can fix it for my daily usage (setting the teamspeak voice activation volume a bit louder and the record volume some quieter. but i think if i will record some music with the microphone (i play in a band), the problem will still be there (record all that i hear through my speakers / headphones)
the problem is still there, so i didn?t solve the problem! i just decrease the symptoms!

This is confusing you have a laptop it should have a power adapter for it already? Does it not have one?

  • Mouse Gaming Problem

So a few weeks ago I noticed when I was trying to play games on my computer that certain functions were being impeded. For example in Minecraft I had to click and hold the left mouse button to look around. Not only that but in order to select buttons in the menu I had to first click and drag on the button to 'highlight' it, and then select it after highlighting the option. I also tried this in a few other applications, all games require in the menus that I first must highlight the option before being able to select it. This is true for my usual mouse, a backup mouse, and the trackpad on the laptop. I have reviewed several online resources and don't know how to fix this problem so that my mouse and trackpad work like they are supposed to. Any help at all would be appreciated.

I've been dealing with the same problem even after uninstalling, restarting the computer then reinstalling the software/program, in addition to plugging into the other available USB ports on the desktop. The weird thing for me is that I can still use the "5 programmable buttons" on the mouse, but I can't seem to move the mouse pointer that is stationary on the screen, as if the mouse pointer is on a different driver and completely unresponsive. I'm thinking that the error message, more signifies the unresponsiveness of the on-screen mouse pointer, to my greatest disappointment of such a beautiful mouse for both gaming and daily use. I have to also keep alongside with the gaming mouse, a regular mouse, which is Logitech and rather more stable just to move the freaking mouse pointer. I'm assuming that this problem, with the error message will persist with other brand new mouses of this kind or is it just luck? This gaming mouse worked for me for about 4 or 5 days after receiving it in the mail, but then the next day or so when I just happened to leave the computer, while is was still on for a while, and return to the desktop, I immediately found out that the mouse pointer was unresponsive. Still trying to find a solution to a very weird problem, otherwise giving up on this and either getting the one almost the same to this HP Laser Gaming Mouse with VoodooDNA made by ASUS, which doesn't have any problems like this one, or a Logitech wireless mouses. I am still very disappointed for such a mouse to fail greatly on a part, what is wrong with HP?

  • Dv7 gaming problem

hello, ive got a dv7 4197cl, ive tried a couple of heavy games on it, but both with the same problem,..... game runs normally but the sound stops by secs, ive heard its called latency caused by HDD, ran an app to check the latency of HDD, but its running perfectly :/
oh, btw, while playing, dunno why norton lets me know that only 1 of those 4 cores is running at 100%, and other 3 are like sleeping.... 2 or 3% of using
is that normal?, can i distribute it to make it work with 4 cores?, so it would run balanced

     Hello,
Please update your BIOS,Video graphics and sound drivers.
The best and easiest way to do this is to run teh HP Support assistant and have it "Analyze" your PC. It will then suggest the critical updates for your unit. This should help with the gaming experience.

  • WRT300N Printer Problem

I just upgraded my router to the WRT300N, checked the firmware and there was none (version 2). Added the HP C6180 Photo All in One printer wireless to the network with no problem before, added to the new network and alls fine until i added other computers. PC - (Wired to router) Can connect to the network, see internet and printer no problem Sis PC - (Wired to router) Can connect to the network, see internet and printer no problem Laptop - (Wireless) Can connect to the network, see internet but no printer Office PC - (Wirless) Can connect to the network, see internet but no printer Any idea why the router will not allow the wireless ones to see the printer? Cheers for your time, James

If "AP isolation" is turned on in the router, it will block any wireless-to-wireless connection.  So, make sure "AP isolation" is set to "disabled".

  • Gaming problems with the K7N420

Hi guys - I need some help
I've been running with my K7N420 board from MSI for over a year now with very few problems - but then I've never really stressed it that much.
Last week, I purchased an "oldish" game - Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine - Oh if I had known how prophetic the title was!
I got help from Lucas Arts initially to check that it would run OK on my W2K OS, and together with info from microsoft on W2K SP1 supporting this game (it was named explicitly) I thought I would have few problems.  However ....
Once I got over the initial problems of turning off the virus checker and screensaver, I got into the game and started playing - only to find that on occassions the screen just blanks out as one solid colour - typically the colour of an object I've just picked up. Mostly I can't recover from this and have to CTRL_ALT_DEL out of it.
I am assuming that this may be due to some video incompatiblity with the intergated graphics, but I need some suggestions as to what I should tweak in the nVidia video drivers to get it to work.
Any suggestions (other than to get the latest game The Emperoros Tomb!)
    Oh and specs'
    MS6373 (K2N420) Bios 2.6
    256MB RAM
    Windows 2000 SP1
    nVidia Unified drivers 2.03
    DirectX 8.1
    Cheers for your time
    Nick

deepknight: Thanks for the suggestions - but it should work with W2K - also, I thought that the unified drivers for Win95/98 weren't up to scratch???
    frenchy2K1:
I'll try the detonator - via a different source it has alos been suggested that I try re-installing the unified set 2.03 again, apparently one should remove the old set first before installing the upgrade - this is something I hadn't done...
as for DX9 - it was something I was planning to do, I have been using this game on a Win98 machine (Laptop) with DX8.1, with no problems - so I assumed that DX8.1 was OK???
Games settings - I'll check these tonight (the offending set up is at home, and I'm reading this forum at work...).
What would be sensible settings, could changing these stop it working?
Does this means that changing the driver settings may make a difference?  Where do you start trying to sort this??
I've contatced LucasArts tech support, so far I've only got their offiical line which is "This game was not designed with support for Windows 2000...." "Download the latest compatibility updates from microsoft...." "We cannot guarantee it will work...."
I'll try the alt-tab and see what happens
    I'm already runnung with SP3
    Thanks for helping
    Nick
    btw
It runs OK on the laptop - but
    (a) The screens horrible for gaming
    (b) The sounds naff
    (c) I got the nForce machine for games, not the Laptop!!!!
