WRT54GS V6 - Firmware upgrade needed (2.07.1) not available?

Trying to Install WRE54G V3 to existing WRT54GS V6.
According to the WRE help screens, I understand that I need at least 2.07.1 firmware in the router (mine is currently @ 1.50.6)
However, when I go to download the firmware, the latest version available is 1.52.0
What am I not understanding/missing? Thanks, George

What is the model number plus version of your router?
In your heading you say you have GS ...in your message you say you have a
G router You also say in your message you are upgrading from G V3 to GS

If you have a G router you have to update to the latest G firmware not GS and vis versa

Downgrade Mavericks to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
      loads select your language and click on the Continue
      button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
      Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
      mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
      of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then
      the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART
      info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on
      the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
      from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
      Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
      partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
      the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

WRT54G V8 firmware upgrade, easylink issue

I was having the typical dropped connection issues that these routers seem to be famous for (WRT54G). The easylink application was installed and working. I upgraded firmware to the newly released 8.00.4. After the firmware upgrade the easylink app. still worked for all functions except for setting wireless security. For that, any changes had to be input manually through the web based utility or whatever it is called (inputting 162.198.1.1) in the adress bar.
I had a software conflict and had to uninstall the Easylink advisor software and then reinstall it. After reinstalling, the easylink will not recognize the router at all. Message states something to the effect that the router is either an old Linksys not supported by easylink or another brand. I know this has to be because the easylink has not been updated to work with the new version of the firmware.
Is there any way to get the Easylink advisor to recognize the router with the new firmware?
Or, is there a link to the previous firmware version so that I can flash the router with the previous version? Then I could get the easylink to recognize the router again and will only lose security access after I re-flash with the new firmware.
Or, is there anything else I can do to get the easylink advisor software to recognize the Router with the new Firmware installed?

The Easy Link firmware should connects using the new firmware ....
Reset the router for few seconds ,.......After reset disable all firewall & run Easy link tool .....
It will work .....

WRT110 Firmware Upgrade Crashed IE8, Router Does Not Work

Last night, at 2:30am EST I felt the need to upgrade the firmware on my router. I downloaded the latest firmware for the WRT110 v1.0 and attempted to upgrade the firmware. Close to the end of the firmware upgrade process IE8 crashed and left my router in a state of limbo.
I called Linksys support only for them to tell me that I have 3 options (all which included paying money to them) :
Pay $40 to add 6 months of extended warranty to the router and support for it
Pay $30 for a one time support call
Buy a new router through them with waived shipping.
This wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear at 3 am, so naturally I was quite irritated. Of course, the supervisor asking me if I was sure I downloaded the correct firmware and telling me to go on the internet when it's obviously not working really did not help either.
I tried the two reset options suggested by the forums here and the supervisor on the phone, pressing down the reset button for 30 seconds and pressing it down for a minute and unplugging for 30 seconds. Neither worked, so the supervisor essentially told me the router needed to be replaced.
Now, is there any actual way of getting the router back to a working state?

5800 firmware update v60 slide to unlock not avail...

I updated my 5800 to v60 yesterday and I saw in several fourm that slide to unlock feature is available with this new firmware update. But for me when i press the menu button earlier i used to see the screen get lit for sometime. But after the update I am not seeing it and even the slide to unlock feature is not available. Is there any way to enable this new feature??

I tried updating to v60 through Nokia suite, but just as about the installation is about to start, it says "Cheking if you already have the installation files on your computer" and then i get an error saying something went wrong (with code 12017)
I tried NSU, PC Suite, Nokia Suite (reinstallation as well), a soft and a hard reset but im still unable to update to v60, although it is available in the OTA(update via pc) and also in the Nokia Suite.

WRT54G v6 firmware upgrade under Vista problem

I'm not sure if this is related to Vista or not.
I downloaded the correct firmware version for WRT54G v6 and selected upgrade using the web interface. After a few minutes, the browser directed me to a site with the following URL

My IE7 had problem displaying this page and the Power LED on the router kept blinking. I tried to connect to the web interface and it was still showing Firmware Version: v1.00.9
I don't think there is anything wrong with what I did and not sure if the upgrade was successful. Any suggestions?

This could be because you are accessing the router over HTTPS. You cannot upload firmware or settings to a WRT54G v5 over a HTTPS connection unless you have Linksys firmware v1.00.9 or later. Try accessing it using just plain HTTP.
Enabling and using http instead of https worked for me. No need to reset or reconfigure.
I upgraded from 1.00.1 (IIRC) to 1.02.2.

WRT54GS V6 Firmware Upgrade

I am trying to do a firm ware upgrade to the WRT54GS V6 router. However, when I go to its web page (192.168.1.1) - alI get is the layout of the Linksys web page, but no text labels or links. I can not do anything - any suggestions?

I used Firefox 2.0.0.2 and IE 7.0 Just this morning without such incident. The problem is definately in you computer.
I'd imagine that the page loaded improperly the first time and it's now stuck in your browser cookies erroneously. Exit the poorly loaded page, then clear all cookies, browser histories and temporary files, and then close and restart your browser. When you go back to the IP address page it may load properly the second time.

WRT610N New Firmware Upgrade and USB Hard disk not working

Hi, I've just upgraded the new firmware, everything seems fine but now my USB Hard disk is not recognizable unless i restart the router. I have a Seagate FreeAgent 500Gigs, and it worked perfectly with the previous firmware. Just wondering if its just me or anyone else has the same problem.

The same thing is happening to me... After the HDD goes to sleep, when you goto access it again you can hear it spin up but you still can't access it at all.

Apple Time Capsule 3TB firmware upgrade 7.7.2 will not accept "&" in wifi password.

Recently bought 2 Apple Time Capsules to backup my laptops, macs and so on. Installation was easy, I could easily connect them to my existing wifi router in 5 minutes.
But, they stopped working 3 days ago and I was surprised why I could not see both of them on network.
My Seagate's GoFlex Home works beautifully in every aspect. So, I thought there is no reason that both the capsules are not working any more.
I spent whole evening to find the problem. And, the problem was that my router's wifi password had "&" in password characters. While, "&" worked perfectly in firmware 7.7.1, both capsules could not connect anymore because they upgraded themselves to 7.7.2. So, I removed "&" from my router password and reconfigured both the capsules and they worked like a charm.
I love them because I can put them anywhere in the house and connect to them wirelessly from any device, watch movies and so on.
Just wanted to tell my "&" experience and help, just in case someone gets lost with the same problem.

My continual refrain in these forums is that Apple now is using SMB networking.. Mavericks is SMB by default.

The rules for SMB are much tighter and people are continuing to have issues because the Apple Setup is allowing and indeed defaulting still to names with spaces and non-alphanumeric characters.
Although the rules are not as tight as this.. my rule of thumb is short.. no more than 20 characters.. 10 even better.. no spaces and pure alphanumeric. For the least issues with networks.
Passwords should be 10-20 character mix of upper and lower case with numbers.. ie still pure alphanumeric.
All names and passwords should follow.. except if you are really paranoid you can use passwords longer than 20 characters.

Today I believe I just discovered that CS 6.0 cannot be upgraded as Creative Suites have been done in the past. Can someone confirm that continued use of my CS 6.0 will have to be done on a subscription basis? Is there a date on which my downloaded upgrade of CS 6.0 will no longer function?
While researching this issue I checked my account and discovered that my CS 6.0 was not registered. It was purchased on December 11, 2012 and have a print out of an Adobe Software License Certificate with all my personal and license information illustrated. When I insert the serial number noted into the web page that offers the option to register the product the site states the SN is not valid. Again, I need help on this matter as well.
I am registered with Adobe Creative Cloud and get regular software updates to my CS 6.0. If I had an invalid SN I asume this would not occur.
Please help a "Geezer" trying to traverse the digital world!

If you licensed CS6 using a conventional, perpetual license, there is no limit to how long you may continue to run this software. I purchased this from PC Connection in December 2012 and received it as a download. Attached is the Certificate I received regarding the purchase and SN.

Since receiving your email I had a return call from Adobe Support and they informed me my CS 6.0 was a volume license stating that it could be used on multiple computers, which I was unaware of. That is why I couldn't input the SN into my Creative Cloud account page. The support person did that for me so the CS 6.0 is now registered.

You still should be able to register your CS6 serial number. What sounds unusual is the nomenclature “Adobe Software License Certificate.” Where did you obtain CS6, from a retailer or Adobe direct in a box? If that was the case, the serial number would be on the packaging inside the box. If you licensed a CS6 suite or product via the Adobe website, you would have the serial number provided on a web page or via e-mail from Adobe. Anything else sounds a bit “interesting”…

After downloading Yosemite Installation got stuck as the disk needs repair but is not available.

Now I can't access my Time machine and it has not backed up since 3 months. I am stuck as i don't know how to get back to my old OS and basically ignore the Yosemite download until I figure out what is wrong with my SSD. I successfully replaced the HDD several months ago with a Crucial 240GB SSD and had no issues at all while working on it. However, now I seem to be completely stuck: can't get back to 10.9, can't back up to my Time Machine, can't even erase the disk and lose 3 months of data because of some disc mounting issue. What a mess I have created. Please help.

I may have a solution. I too installed Yosemite only to be stuck with nowhere to go because I couldn't repair my disk in the Disk Utility. I would verify over and over and sometimes I could click repair and sometimes it was grayed out. I would get red messages saying you can't unmout the disk, you can't repair it, etc. So, I read on another forum some chick used her CD of snow leopard and reinstalled that OS versus trying to install Mavericks again (which I tried too, but the disk was locked because it wasn't repaired). So I popped in the CD, restarted my computer and pulled up disk utility again. The first time I ran the repair function I actually got a kernel message (which is bad) and had to restart again. The second time, however, I ran the repair and it fixed it! I got a nice green message saying the disk had no issues appeared to be ok. So, I went to reinstall snow leopard and my Macintosh disk was no longer locked because it was repaired! I just installed it and I'm waiting for my computer to reboot so cross your fingers that this works.
I feel like this is good news because it makes me think that I don't actually have a hard drive issue but rather Yosemite was corrupted. I take very good care of my iMac so it would be heartbreaking if I had to put money into it when I've never had issues with my apple products In the past. Hope this helps anyone in the struggle. I'm not smart enough to hook up external hard drives and run programs or type code into the terminal. So consider this the simple man's resolution (I'm a woman). Feel free to ask me any questions, I'll check back when I can.

We have been asked by our client to create training manuals for the iPad. Is it possible to publish a book in iBooks author that can be distributed privately? This would be work that we would be paid by our client to produce. Thanks for any help.

You can just export the book in .ibooks format from iBooks Author and make it available any way you like, such as sending it by email. uploading to Dropbox, making it available on a webserver for download, etc.
Note that, if you do this, you must distribute the book free of charge, otherwise you will be in violation of the IBA EULA. However, it's OK to charge for the development of the book.
