WVC54GC firmware

Hi
I have just brought a WVC54GC camera and was checking up on firmware updates.
First I looked on the US site and there was an update but on checking the UK - where I live - there was no update for V1.10.
Question is, can I use a US firmware update to update my UK cameras firmware?
Regards ...  Colin

The real question was why are there differencies between the US and UK web sites, the US one offering a upgrade and the UK one does not; so is it safe to use the US update on a camera that is being used in the UK.
I am thinking of any radio frequency compliant problems in particular.

  • WVC54GC firmware upgrade fail - how to recover?

I have hw version 1.1 and  tried to upgrade sw to version 1.26 with just  wireless network. Something goes wrong because now just the blue led is blinking and I can not connect to the camera in any way. I already made a reset and tried wired connection with a computer on the same network and no answer on the default address 192.168.1.115...  Is is possible to recover from a bad flash ?
    Thanks for help

When the Camera is powered on, hold down its reset button for 30 seconds. While still holding down the reset button, unplug the Camera from power and hold for an additional 30 seconds. Still holding down the reset button, turn on power to the Camera again and hold for 30 more seconds. Now check if the blue LED is solid.

  • WVC54GC UK Download firmware 1.21 is in German. Help!

    Hi,
I just bought some software to view my camera on my phone and although my WVC200 cameras work fine, the WVC54GC reports incompatible so I went to this Linksys website and downloaded the latest firmware available to the UK which is 1.21
Firmware loaded fine but I now find that language is set to German!
There seems to be no way to set the language in the device so I used the Live Chat facility and explained my problem to "Princess" who was totally unable to help but gave me a support phone number to call at 10 pence per minute.
I called the number and was told that 1.21 was the latest version available to me and that if I reset the camera the language should reset to English.
Of course it didn't, and examining the UK downloaded firmware file I see that the filename contains a nice big "DE" which means it is German.
This is supposed to be Cisco for goodness sakes. And people ask me why I sopped selling Cisco equipment 2 years ago!
Can anyone help me with this?  I'd love a link to an English version of 1.25 but all I can find by Googling downloads is 1.26 (available only to the USA for some reason) which apparently would mean I have to change my PC software and I don't hold up much hope for that. It would probably end up being in Swahili or Chinese or something else I cannot read!
Version 1.25 would mean I can at least burn the firmware and use it with my existing viewer software but I can't find anywhere to download it. I can't revert to my previous version because I don't have the .bin file and anyway the support person told me that you cannot load earlier versions of the firmware. Great!
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    David

I just checked the UK page and found out that there are two versions for firmware 1.21. The one below (1.83 MB) is the English version of the firmware and the one on top is German. Try if you can upgrade the firmware using the English version (the 1.83 MB) and see if that will work for you. I checked the release notes for the 1.83 MB and that is how I found it out.

  • WVC54GC upgrade Firmware to 1.26 - do not do it

I did the 1.26 firmware upgrade on 4 Cams, and now the Linksys software for recording will not find the cameras. I saved the old dat file and it works, as the video is recorded, but again, a search see's no cam's.
Can I go back a version, will the new Camera WVC80N recorder see these older cams, so I can change my recorder settings?
    What can I do?
    Thanks
    Dan

I can ping all 4 camera's, so firewall is not a prob. Also the Utility program worked before the upgrade to 1.26
Then I loaded the new recorder Utility (It looks great by the way), but again it will not search and find the Camera's.
Having said that, since I know the camera names, Ip address, I can now set them up manually using the  Internet Camera link. When I do that is finds the camera and returns the camera's mac address, then it auto loaded the picture.
I have not tried to recording features, the old utility has a disk space error if the recoeding device was not a c: drive.
So I have to ask, has anyone been able to use the auto search for a camera feature?
Also will this utility work with the newer Cam's that Linksys sells? Which ones?

  • Wvc54gc not connecting wireless locally since updating firmware to V1.26

Pretty please help me.  I've read through many web posts about getting my wireless camera to work. But nothing seems to match my situation or I've tried it already.  The camera use to work wirelessly and then I decided to update the firmware to V1.26.  Now it only works hardwired, not even wireless locally.  I have 64-bit WEP enabled.  I've resetted to factory defaults and put in my information again.  I selected fixed IP.  I have a netgear router.
    Suggestions?

Was the issue resolved from this thread? I too am having this issue after upgrading recently to firmware v1.26. I disabled the security on my linksys wrt54g router and still cannot get the camera to get an ip wirelessly. When using a network cable it will get an ip and and I can access it using my browser. Can you please help me ? The camera used to work fine before upgrading the firmware.

  • WVC54GC v1.1 - Firmware update

Running firmware v1.21 July 2006. The only firmware update I find on Linksys support page is for v1.0. Under the drop down box for selecting version, I can only choose v1.0?? Does anyone know if there is a firmware update for v1.1 and how I can find it?
    Thanks
    Brian

    Hello,
I had to do some major digging through search engines to find the file name. I did and my cameras upgraded successfully!
    1.0 Hardware: http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/DYAM08-506-1025,0.bin
    1.1 Hardware: http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/DYAM08-506-1025-RoHS.bin
    Hope this helps!

  • WVC54GC Viewer/recorder

I upgraded the WVc54GC to the latest firmware 1.26 from 1.19, the Viewer worked fine on previous firmware but after the upgrade it can't detect the camera via Ethernet or wireless. Tried to downgrade the firmware but got an error.

    updated 4 Camera's to firmware 1.26
None are seen by the viewer, when I do a search.
I have the old dat file, and reloded it, and they come up.
But when I do a search, they are not there. I ping the ip addresses, and they all reply. I put the ip address in IE and it shows up.
Can I go back to the old Firmware? The viewer no longer see's the camera. Also I can edit the viewer dat file. Who have the parameters, as I can add my new camera that way if I can get the field descriptions.

  • WVC54GC

Installed camera (WVC54GC) via Linksys Router WRT54GS. Have address all set-up and can view camera footage via Internet Explorer through a wired (WinXP) and wirelessly (Win7) connected computer. Having issues setting up the Linksys Viewer & Recorder that came with the set-up cd that came with camera on any computer. It will install on the wired (WinXP machine) but the software will not find the camera. The camera itself currently running via wireless connection. I have upgraded all firmware's. Any help would be appreciated. One question is on the Viewer & Recorder the tab after you click add camera says LAN. does that mean that I have to have the camera connected via Ehernet Cable?

Connect the camera to the router with the Ethernet cable and then try to search for the camera using the utility. See if that works.
You can also try to download the camera utility from Linksys website and install it on your computer.

  • WiFi webcam WVC54GC: Motion triggered email via unencrypted SMTP

I've been trying to get the WVC54GC to send an image by email when it detects motion.  Currently, it just generates the following errors when it detects motion:
       01/01/1990 04:23:57 SMTP:
Error during the connection or timeout.
       01/01/1990 04:23:53 Alert: Triggered.
The gateway and DNS are properly set.  I did some testing of the SMTP connection to the server using Outlook.  I found that the ISP's email server only accepts SSL/TSL. Not being a specialist in this area, I'm not sure if encryption applies only to the login data or the whole message, but it doesn't seem to me to matter -- the webcam has no switch to activate SSL/TSL regardless.
I searched the web for SMTP settings for the big three providers of free email (Google, Yahoo, Hotmail) and they all require SSL/TSL for SMTP.  How have other WVC54GC users handled this requirement?

Looks like you might’ve hit the nail on the head with the SSL/TLS requirement. Doesn’t seem to be any option in the camera’s setup page for setting that. What firmware are you running on your camera? Is it the latest? There may be an option for that in the newer firmware

  • WVC54GC with Fritz!Box 7050

    Hi,
after a few beginner problems i got my WVC54GC (version 1.1 - firmware 1.26) running but only on LAN. I also read a german message and cut the power supply for a moment to allow the cam to connect to the WLAN (WEP correct configured) but nothing happens. I can't see it on the router monitor nor can i see any picture on the media player.
    Any idea what's going wrong?
Thanks in advance for any hint

What is the model number of your wireless router?
Make sure that the wireless settings on the router and WVC54GC are matching.
Follow this link to connect the camera to the wireless network.

  • WVC54GC Installation and Setup files

I can't find the installation and setup files for WVC54GC version 1.1.  The only files located on the download page is the firmware update and manual.  But for WVC54GC version 1.0 the installation and setup files are available along with the manual and firmware update.
Should I assume that the version 1.0 installation and setup files will work with version 1.1?

If you can see the Setup wizard for WVC54GC v1.0, you can download and install it for the WVC54GC v1.1 from the Linksys/Cisco website or you can download it from the link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/cameras/WVC54GC

  • WVC54GC ver 1.1

I have a WVC54GC ver 1.1 camera with the most current firmware (1.26). This version only has support for TZO DNS service. I use DynDNS. Would the older firmware (1.25) have support for DynDNS and where might I find it? I have found references to it in older posts - DYAM08-506-1025-RoHS.bin, but it appears to be unavailable from Cisco, now.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks for getting back to me. I also have a version 1.0 of the WVC54GC that does support DynDNS (firmware 1.25). Upgrading it to 1.26 will wipe out DynDNS, too. I was kind of hoping I could downgrade the 1.1 camera and have similar results.
    Thanks again,
    Paul

  • Macbook4,1 10.6.8 and firmware update - what went wrong?

Macbook 4,1 2008 2.4Ghz (not unibody). I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled 10.6 from the Retail DVD and all seemed to go well. The MB was working fine up to that point. I then set up the MB (network, date and time, etc.) and repaired permissions.
I then checked Software Update and downloaded and installed the recommended updates to 10.6.8.
Again, all seemed to go fine. System booted and I repaired Permissions again. I went to the Apple web site, a couple of other web sites, and Software Update found another update to install: Firmware. Though I don't remember what version.
I clicked OK and it installed.
Upon reboot, it seemed to install okay.
But then I left the Macbook and it went into Sleep.
I didn't come back to it again until the next day.
When I pressed a key to wake it, I got what I now know is the screen that appears after you wake it from SAFE SLEEP. As per this Apple KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1757.
And this is where the problems started.
After the MB woke to the Safe Sleep screen, which shows the desktop a little "out of focus", the progress bars started filling in from left to right, BUT before they completed, the screen went BLACK.
And it has had a problem with black screen ever since. I can boot the MB from internal or external HD or from DVD, and it seems to boot fine. Boot chime, Apple logo, spinning wheel, then at the point where it pauses, blue screen, then goes to desktop, instead the screen goes black.
It finishes booting, but seems to go into Sleep.
I can wake it by pressing a key, but the screen either comes on and goes black again after 10 seconds, or I get the Safe Sleep wake screen, and then it goes black after 10 seconds.
And at boot or when waking the MB, the front LED flashes 5 times. There are no error beeps.
I've tried changing RAM, but problems remain.
So what's all this? Any ideas?
The display doesn't seem dead, as it works to boot and wake. The MB works fine with external monitor.
It's weird, but I can't think of anything apart from the Firmware update. The problems started right after installing it.
Unfortunately, this model of Macbook doesn't have a Firmware Restoration image to download and burn to CD. It is the ONLY Mac at this point that doesn't have this!
I called Apple support and even bought the 49 Euro Pay Per Incident service, which proved to be the same as throwing 49 Euro out the window. The only "technical" support they provided was to Reset the SMC, which you can find out about FOR FREE at the Apple website. And which I'd done anyway. I'd also reinstalled the MacOS. Don't want to beef too much, but sheesh, you've already got a Macbook that might need costly repairs, and they make you pay 49 Euro BEFORE they even ask you about the problem and what you've done to try to solve it. I'm tempted to say "ripoff". I mean, if all they can offer you is the advice to reset the SMC - which Apple offers for free at their website - then that's pretty poor service for 49 Euro, to say the least.
Apart from the wasted 49 Euro, I'm pretty peeved about the Firmware update (or so it seems) wrecking a perfectly working 2008 Macbook. I don't know how to convince Apple of this, but I'm certainly going to try.

    Thanks for the reply.
Re. the Displays setting, the Macbook display isn't recognized and mirroring isn't an available option.
I've scoured the net and the idea of replacing the PRAM battery may be something to try. I read a post by a guy with a Macbook logic board screwed up by a Firmware update, which he solved by replacing the PRAM battery, as when you disconnect it you reset the logic board.
    Which capacitor?
No luck so far with talking to Apple. I will try to get hold of someone a little more tech savvy and/or in a position of authority, as it seems that the Firmware is the culprit. Obviously a million other things could go wrong with a Macbook, but given the timing here it looks like the Firmware. Firmware updates can and occasionally do screw up a computer, as most manufacturers will warn you before you apply the update: PC makers, printer makers, etc. And they probably warn you that it's all your responsibility if anything goes wrong. But re. the Apple Firmware update:
    1) it came thru Software Update
    2) there was no warning
    3) to make things worse, there's no Firmware Restoration image that I can burn to a CD to reflash the logic board: this is the only Apple computer that doesn't have a Firmware Restoration option
I'll try to get thru to a manager and convince him/her that the firmware may have been the cause.
Do you think an authorized Apple tech might have access to some way to do a firmware restoration? Something not avaiable to mere mortals? Because if not, the only solution looks like a new logic board.

  • New symptoms since latest firmware update

OK I have a 1tb sky hd box which hasn't had any really annoying issues up until the new firmware update (the one with the new Kids tile which is annoying in its own right).  Anyway, I have been watching the cricket on SS2 and every so often when they break for a short advert between overs I've lost sound when it tries to revert to DD5.1 after switching from 2.0 on the adverts.  I have to change channel and back again to get the sound back.    Also, for the first time, my planner was showing empty today so I had to do a planner rebuild which solved the issue.  Still, at least they  seem to have solved the sound dropout issue.  So just heads up for anyone else with a 1tb box who experiences the same issues.

    (Quoting Karl Petersen here:)
There's a bug in iMovie 6 that makes it impossible to re-edit (Update) photo clips previously imported with the Ken Burns checkbox ON. The source photo, normally stored in the Media folder of the project, is (inappropriately) discarded when you empty the iMovie trash. The clips Update as black clips and the preview is usually black too, if I recall.
The workaround is to 1) drag the photo from the iMovie trash to the iMovie Clips pane; or 2) never empty the iMovie trash.

  • New to the WRT300N - Firmware & help needed

Hi. First off, I apologize that this is going to be very long.  I really hope someone will take the time to read it all and give me some help.
I posted about a week ago about problems with my WRT54GS.  All of a sudden with no changes, the wireless stopped working.  I tried for a few days to fix it with no luck.  I decided to order the WRT300N (I figured if I was going to buy a new one, I'd upgrade and this is the one that Linksys recommended).
I should mention that after ordering the new router, the wireless on the old one started working again but it wasn't working normal.  The signal quality had always pretty much been excellent and now it started going up & down but at least it was staying connected.
The new router came today.  I disconnected the old one and connected the new one and everything went smoothly.  Both my wired & wireless computers worked great.  Less than an hour later, the wireless disconnected.  I went to view available networks and my network (I use our last name) was gone.  I shut off the laptop and it still didn't see the network.  So I started looking at the router settings just to be sure that nothing had changed.  About 15 minutes later, the laptop found the network and connected again.  The signal quality dropped to good and has stayed there ever since.
Just for information, when the laptop is on the desk (which it is 90% of the time), it's only about 5 feet away from the router.  I have not tried to take the laptop out of the room yet.  Also more information if it helps.  I have a large "U" shaped desk.  My monitor for my desktop sits in the middle.  On either side are the speakers.  To my left (in front of me) is a UPS (plugged into this UPS is the tower, monitor, speakers, cradle for my mouse, modem & router), then the tower (I can't put it on the floor because I have physical issues that would prevent me from accessing it there).  Now if I turn my chair to the left, the desk has an upper level.  This is where my DSL modem & the router are.  They are on the end near where the computer is on the lower level.  This is the same setup we were using before.  Old router worked great for almost 2 years with signal strength at excellant on the laptop.  It just started acting up all of a sudden.  If I go back to facing center and then turn to the right, that's where my husband's laptop sits.  The only other equipment there is a calculator and a lamp and on the floor is another UPS which has his laptop (which has an Intel wireless G card in it), a laser printer, and the above mentioned calculator & lamp plugged in.
Prior to today, I had the Logitech MX3100 keyboard & mouse set.  I had purchased a new mouse (Logitech MX Revolution).  So I was using the keyboard from the MX3100 with the new mouse and everything was fine running that way for weeks before the problem kicked in.  So I don't think it's got anything to do with the mouse.  Today's setup is a little different.  I am no longer using the MX3100 keyboard.  I am using Logitech DiNovo Edge, which uses a bluetooth dongle.  I also don't think it's any interference from this keyboard since this is a pre-existing problem.
I do have a cordless phone in the room (it's on the left hand side of the desk from where I sit at the opposite end from the modem & router...also it's one of those that doesn't need a phone line)but it's a 5.8 ghz.
The old router had the option to change the channel, etc.  This one has auto for standard channel & wide channel & there's no way to change it that I can see.  Radio band is also set to auto but does have 2 choices under it (standard & wide).  As I said before, I use our last name for our SSID.  It's the same one I've been using for years.  There is no one else around here with that SSID.  Network mode is mixed.
Concerning the firmware....the information for mine is WRT300N V1.1 firmware v1.51.2.  I tried to look for an update but the only one in the list is the WRT300N V1.0.  I did click on that but the firmware version is lower and I don't want to screw anything up.  Is there a firmware update for me or not?  If so, please point me in the right direction as I can't find it.
Concerning the signal strength....would it help to buy a new wireless card for the laptop?  The Intel card has been updated with the newest software.  The card is internal and to my knowledge can only be replaced with the same card or a bluetooth card.  (Computer is a Dell XPS M140.)  I do have a card slot but I'm confused because I think Dell called it an Express Card slot and I don't know whether or not the Linksys notebook card that is recommended for this router would work in this slot.  If the card would work, is it worth the expense?
What else can I try.  I thought about moving the router furthur to the left but it would require moving a few other items and I'm not sure if the cords are long enough.  Would it help if the router & modem were not plugged into the same UPS?  I do have a regular surge protecter near where my phone is.  I would really rather leave them plugged into the UPS though for obvious reasons.
Also if it helps, I have the router on it's side with the 2 antennas on the end pointing straight up and the flat one in the middle I have angled this way.
I hope I have given enough information for some suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Thanks for the response.  I was wondering if anyone would take the time to read such a long post.  I wanted to be sure to try to give as much information as possible.
My desktop (Dell XPS400) tower is made out of metal...but the router is actually not sitting on it.  There is a shelf to the left of my tower (when I'm facing it, otherwise it's to the right of it).  That's where the modem & router sit.  The shelf sits about 3" over from the edge of the computer and it's about 7" above it.
As far as the wireless card for my husband's laptop...I'm still thinking about it.  I'm wondering if there would be any improvement in speed or the quality of the connection with the N card.
Now I just went into the router's settings and tried to make the changes you suggested.  I was able to change  the radio band from auto to wide BUT once I do that, I loose the ability to leave the wide channel & standard channels on auto.  The options for the wide channel are 3-9 and the standard are 1 & 5.  I don't know which ones are best to pick so for now I'm not changing anything.  I didn't change the advanced settings either as I wasn't sure if I could do that without changing the other settings first.
My husband has noted that he does see the quality of the connection occasionally jump to excellant.  For the most part it's staying on good in here.  We haven't brought it out into the living room yet to see what it does out there.  He hasn't needed to.  He has had it disconnect on him a couple of times as well.
I did forgot to mention in that book I wrote that we do live in an apartment building.  We are on the 1st floor in the back of the building.  Our office is between our living room & another bedroom.  There is an apartment above us.  There is another apartment on the other side of the other bedroom.  Our bathroom is across the hall from this room, other side of that is the kitchen and then there is an apartment in the front of the building.  Our front door is off the living room, a hallway seperates our apartment from another one.  There are 4 apartments on each floor.  Laundry (directly under us) & storage in basement.
I give all these details to try to get the best help.  I don't know if all this extra info is helpful or not.  We have been using Linksys routers for quite a few years now.  This is our 3rd one and our 2nd wireless one.  We have been in this apartment for a year now and had no trouble until a few weeks ago.  Previously lived in another apartment of the same floor plan in the same complex but on the 3rd floor (boy did we hate walking up those stairs!) with no trouble.
Looking forward to hearing back from  you so I can try to make the changes you suggested.
    Thanks,
    Lisa
