X-Fi Surround 5.1 External Card - problems with 5.1 surro

Vista Business 64bit operating system.
I am having trouble getting the card to work with my full home cinema speaker set-up. When testing to ensure each channel is working, only the front left and front right appear to work - centre, rear left, rear right and subwoofer do not. I have connected to my amp using?an optical cable connection.
Apologies if this thread has already been answered.

HP Compaq 870w Workstation, Intel (R)Core(TM)2Duo CPU T9500 @ 2.6GHz, 4GB RAM.
I have used to testing facility in both Vista and the Creative software to make sure all six channels are working. Both only reflect front right and front left as functionally correctly.
My laptop is installed with a Bluray DVD Multi-recorder and came pre-installed with Intervideo DVD 8. As I want to play back any Bluray DVD via my home cinema system/flatscreen TV set-up, I was hoping the X-Fi external soundcard would facilitate this.
Surely the soundcard should work properly regardless of the software used to play back DVD's, or does it only work with PowerDVD? Bit loath to install a piece of software on my laptop unnecessarily, that's all.

i been having sim card problems with my iphone 5. am i the only one?

    Hello,
I'm also had problems with Iphone 5 , it read no sim card, i solved problem by removing sim card and cleaning with alcohol and q-tip and installing back.
    Shut down phone.
On the side of phone , you will see a small pin hole, insert paper clip and sim card will come out, be careful to do it over a clean towel as not to let drop on floor, make sure your hands clean while doing this.
Insert sims card back and turn on, it should work again.
    Good Luck.

  • External display problems with snow leopard

I just upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard on my Macbook and it's created lots of problems with my LCD external display:
    - The display won't work at its native resolution (1680x1050) - it will flash up an image for 1/10 of second and then go black. I can only get it to work at a lower resolution, which looks AWFUL.
    - If I try to start up my Macbook with the lid closed and the display connected, the display won't work at all (it jams on the start up screen). It only works if I keep both of them running
I never had these problems when using Leopard. I've searched lots of forums and found that many people are having similar problems with external displays. Apple still haven't fixed the bug after repeated efforts from people to get if fixed.
Here are some threads (now closed) on this if you're looking for solutions:

    Common suggested fixes are:
    - Force OS X to use LCD font smoothing (does not work for me)
    - Clear the PRAM on start-up (does not work for me)
    - Delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist (does not work)
    - Change energy management setting to high performance (only works on graphics cards in Macbook 15" and 17").
From reading these forums it appears that this is a well-know bug. Has anyone else got any suggestions to fix this? And why hasn't Apple fixed this yet after so many people bringing it to their attention? It's clearly a bug that wasn't in Leopard.

I'M FED UP WITH APPLE! They've always been a little shady, but the last half of 2010 took the cake!
First it was the iPhone 3g "upgrade" to IOS4 which was garbage and killed my ability to use the 3g until I figured out how to crack the software, wipe the thing clear then reinstall the original software. Next up was purchasing the iphone 4 as a Christmas gift for someone running tiger on their mac, only to find out that the iphone 4 doesn't work on tiger when they tried to sync their contacts - and then having to rush out and purchase snow leopard so that they could enjoy my gift. Then I install Snow Leopard (note - I purchased the family pack) onto my own leopard-running(10.5.+) powerbook only to have the external LCD display I've been using for years suddenly stop working.
Oh, okay, to be fair, it works IF I RESIGN MYSELF TO SET it to "mirror image" (which defeats the purpose of having multiple displays) and drop the resolution down to a pathetic, unsharp, nearly distored setting that is almost painful to look at knowing that this monitor was just A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO showing me crystal clear images.
Then I exhaust myself trying to find a fix only to discover that APPLE in their infinite brilliance (AKA - their torture of loyal customers) knows of the issue - worked it out - then created an update that created the issue all over again. I'm so done! No more macs. I'm going back to the evil land of PCs. At least there, you know you're getting crap, it doesn't sneak up on you after getting you to trust it time and time again.

  • 10.4.7 update  and external firewire problems with HD corrupion

    Dear all,
Advised by Jpfresno I started this new topic about Tiger 10.4.7 update.
I will repeat my post and what was happening 2 weeks ago:
“In 5 years 10.4.7 update was a tragedy for my Powerbook Ti 667. When I update from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 my 300 GB firewire drive gets corrupted, after repairing it with DiskWarrior and after connecting it to my PowerBook my computer freezes and I must shut it down via powerbutton. Safari also crashes after the update.
I just erase my Hard Drive and after that install 10.4 and update with combo to 10.4.7. But I had the same problems: finder freezes with connected firewire devices and also safari when browsing. I spend a week trying to solve the problem but no luck.
Yesterday and with no firewire devices, 10.4.7 freeze and I have big trouble in order to started my powerbook!!! Even when i insert the 10.4 install DVD it did not detected my HD. Finally I get it to work and install 10.4 and combo update to 10.4.6 and everything works. My external firewire drive and safari. I already diagnose my HD with disk utility, TechTool and directories with Diskwarrior and everything is ok.
I clone my 10.4.6 to firewire, boot from it and everything is working. I let my external drive connected and finder does not freeze.
My conclusion is that the problem is 10.4.7 update. It only give me problems and I was getting crazy with it. 10.4.6 is working good and I do not advice anyone to update to 10.4.7.”
Last week after reinstalling 10.4.6 I started to have HD problems with my Powerbook 667. I did a surface scan with TechTool I it reported bad sector. Then I done a zero disk format but after a second surface scan TechTool also reported bad sector. Then I take the decision to replace my internal HD. I bought a Samsung 40GB Hard Drive and installed it on my PowerBook. Then I have done a clean installation of 10.4.6 with all applications that I need and clone it to my hard drive with Intego Personal Backup software. Everything works on 10.4.6. and external firewire drive.
After that everything is ok. But I decided to test if my problem derivates from 10.4.7 update or from previous HD corruption. Then I install 10.4.7 update on my Internal Hard Drive. Everything is working good but after connecting my external Hard Drive the finder started to freeze!!!!!!!!!. After that I tried cloning HD to external firewire with Intego personal Backup. Everything was working good but when it was finishing the backup process started to give errors!! I started panic. I interrupted the backup process but after and after restart I found something strange with 10.4.7. The system started up, I login but I could not started any application!!!??? All my application died!
Then I have done one more clean installation of tiger and 10.4.6 update.
My conclusions are that the 10.4.7 update causes all the problems that I have on my PowerBook, because I used the same methods and same software/hardware on 10.4.6 and did no have any problem.
This last two weeks were very difficult to me. I tough that these problems do not happen with Apple computers but I was wrong!!! It is very hard to me to deal with it. I always said to my friends that I never had problems with Apple computers. I accept that a hard drive died because the use of it but I can not accept that a system update cause me 2 weeks of hard problems and make me loose precious work information! I always love apple computers and Apple OS but now I am disappointed
If anyone can explain what happen or have a solution for those problems?
Thanks for the comprehension and collaboration.
    Best Regards
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi, alsvieira.
There are some things you did not check in all of your troubleshooting:
    1. Run the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) that came the affected computer. See my "Apple Hardware Test" FAQ for comprehensive advice on using the AHT in troubleshooting.
    2. re: FireWire troubleshooting: Here is some general troubleshooting advice that may help if problems return with your FireWire drive:1. Review the AppleCare Knowledge Base document "What to do if your computer won't recognize a FireWire device".
    2. If this problem occurred after installing a recent Mac OS X Update, and you are also unable to mount CDs, DVDs, or disk images perform the steps in this Mac OS X Hints article. This worked under Panther and may also work in certain situations under Tiger.
    3. Power-on the FireWire drive before starting up (booting) your Mac.
    4. Reset PRAM and NVRAM.
    5. Resett the power-management chip in your Mac.
    6. Try a different FireWire port. James Wiebe, CEO of WiebeTech, has published FireWire Port Failures in Host Computers and Peripheral Devices, a white paper providing backgroud information and technical analysis concerning the causes of failure for FireWire ports. This may provide additional diagnostic information.
    7. Micromat TechTool Pro version 4 can test the FireWire bus in your computer: this tests the bus — not the ports — but if the problem is on the FireWire bus on the logic board, it should reveal it.
    8. Check with the manufacturer of your FireWire drive or enclosure to see if any firware updates are available for such.
    9. Hopefully, the partition map on the FireWire drive is not damaged. This can happen if the FireWire drive was not Ejected before being disconnected or powered off. If it still refuses to mount, you may need to employ data recovery tools or services: see my "Data Recovery" FAQ.Note that some of the information above is from the "FireWire Problems" chapter of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X.

  • Network card problem with Mobo make the computer crazy!!!

Im using a msi 745 Ultra version 10/cpu xp2400/basic graphics card/40gb HD, 256mbs of drr
I have tryed 2 networks cards both with the same results & even changed mobo & ram/graphic card/HD.
The computer seems to work fine untill i decide to put in a NIC.
It starts to post the wrong processor speed/screen decides not to display sometimes & takes a little longer to boot into windows. It will also some time crash when i turn on the computer. If i try to save something in the bios it will then reboot & then try to boot of the floppy drive.HD / CDrom drive but will not find them. This has happend on both mobos.
This is a very odd problem im getting need some help ASAP.

Sorry Bakes...folks aren't just waiting arount to help you. Expecting an answer in 2 hours is placing to high of an expectations on a user to user help forum.
No one here works for MSI, we are all users, just like you.
If you have not seen a reply, then there are several reasons that may affect why there has been no reply.
No one knows, or can offer o good answer to you question.
The question is too general and you did not supply the necessary information someone might need to even begin helping you. I have provided the basics on what we need at the top of this forum.
No one may be familiar with your motherboard's chipset, perhaps someone is but they have not visited the forum lately.
I can give only some general tips to consider for the time being.
Some incompatabilities may exist with a certain NIC card.
Check PCI slot IRQ sharing conflicts. Typically I stay to the middle slots and avoid the first and last. You may have to power down, move the card to another slot, and power back up. Each time checking your IRQ's in either Device Manager or System Information to see that the card is on its own IRQ.
Improper BIOS settings can cause conflicts.
Try "Plug and Play Aware OS" set to "No" and let the BIOS manage things or set it to yes and let Windows do it. In most cases it has been recommended to be set to no.
Upon installation of new hardware the setting "Reset Configuration Data" can be useful in avoiding lockups after POST due to conflicts recognized during "Verifying DMI Pool Data"
Possible reasons: Hardware change, BIOS settings change, improper connection of IDE cables, corrupt MBR (Master Boot Record) of the HDD (Hard Disk Drive), defective HDD or defective mainboard.
Possible causes: Hardware incompatibility, virus attack, electric circuitry damage/defect, corruption of data, improper BIOS settings, over-clocking damage.
*NOTE* Some Chipsets do not support this feature, see manufacturers documentation.
That's about all I care to share for now.
    Good luck........

  • Were there graphics card problems with the 2006 Mac Pros?

I'm curious about the ATI 2600 graphics card issues occuring with the new Mac Pro's using Leopard...
Did this just start occuring or were people also having problems with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT cards on the 2006 Mac Pro's while running Tiger?
The reason I'm asking is my Dual 867 has finally given up the ghost and needs to be replaced and I have the opportunity to buy a new 2 Dual-Core 2.66GHZ Mac Pro with Tiger loaded in lieu of the newer, problem ridden models.
    Thanks for your responses.

the 7300 has had no widespread problems.

I just bought the fm2-a55m-e33, everything is working fine with the board. I was planning on using my old 9600gso but when I plug it in nothing happens. Windows doesn't recognize the hardware and nothing will display out of the card.

  • MacBook external display problem with Panasonic projector

MacBook (September 2006, Intel 945) with Boot Camp and XP Pro won't display externally from Boot Camp to a Panasonic PT-DW5000U projector using VGA (via the MiniDVI-to-VGA adapter/dongle). I tried 640x480x8-bit and 800x600x16-bit and 1024x768x16-bit. I tried unplugging and replugging the adapter. I tried shutting down and restarting into Win XP while all video cabling was connected. I tried pressing F7, Fn+F7, Shift+F7, FnShiftF7, as well as other key combinations involving F7. I tried checking the checkbox called "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor." I installed Apple Software Update 2.1. None of these troubleshooting attempts worked. It works fine in OS X to the same projector (using the same VGA dongle). And, while Win XP starts in Boot Camp, the projector displays the Windows XP startup screen (black background and blue progress indicator), but after about a minute that disappears, I get a login dialog on the laptop screen, and the projector then displays only a blank blue screen.
Other displays: It works fine with Boot Camp to a Samsung SyncMaster 940T monitor using DVI (via the MiniDVI-to-DVI adapter/dongle). It works fine with Boot Camp to a Panasonic LC50 monitor using VGA (via the MiniDVI-to-VGA adapter/dongle).
We also have Panasonic PT-D5500 projectors, but I haven't tried them yet.
    1. Is this a problem in the Intel drivers supplied with Boot Camp?
    2. Are there settings on the projector that need to be set to make it work?
    3. I'm also now missing the Intel system tray icon that looks like a slanted computer screen -- how do I get it back?
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Based on the substantial research I've done regarding this issue, here's what the problem could be (without me knowing more):
If your working with an integrated graphics card (Intel 945?), chances are that it doesn't support the "resolution" of the projector - which is information embedded in to your other devices. Furthermore, the "refresh rate" is another piece of information usually "embedded" in to the device your connecting to, and the projector may not have either piece of information accessible to your card, or, vice versa.
Additionally, the drivers required by XP to make it all happen while using your particular video card, may not be installed. Basically, it could be a driver issue as well.
I wish I had a solution for you, however, everything I've read seems to conclude that XP within boot camp has little or no support for external displays (especially when talking about larger resolutions).
Humorously, when I addressed the "Mac Genius" at the Apple Store regarding this question, he told me to go buy a PC - so I did. Already have a Mac Pro, needed a laptop...

  • IMac as an external display, problem with trackpad/mouse pairing

    Hi,
I am trying to use the imac as an external display for a macbook air, which is well supported/advertised by apple.
I can toggle the display easily between the imac and the macookair, the problem I’m having is that I only have one wireless keyboard and one wireless trackpad. As I toggle the display, the paring/unpairing of both trackpad and mouse is a real hastle becuase I have to manually go into bluetooth preferences and adjust the settings for both devices.
Anyone using the imac as external display with an idea/suggestion how to make this process more friendly?
Thank in advance for any help.

I don't think you can.  Wish I had better news.  Target display mode for non-thunderbolt 27" Imacs worked OK.  I have done it myself on a late 2009 iMac.  The new iMacs can only go into target display mode when connected thunderbolt to thunderbolt.  So a new macbook or macbook air can do the trick but your dell can't.  What you can do is remote desktop or VNC to the dell.  Now your dell screen will show up but in a smaller window.

  • Using a site in iWeb to publish to an external server - problems with RSS

    Hi!
I have a rather odd problem. I have a .Mac account, but I also work for a non-profit organization that has asked me to handle their website. I would like to use iWeb to do that and am attempting to publish the site to an external server. However, I also want to use iWeb to publish my own personal account pages to .Mac.
I have the site up and running, and most everything works on it except the RSS feed. I typed the url into the Publish to Server dialogue, but it has been to no avail. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I am not publishing ALL of my sites to this server, just one of the sites. (When I invoke the Publish to Server command, it creates a master index and folders for each of the sites. Then, I have been discarding all of them except for the folder of the site I want to publish, which I have to name "public_html" to conform with our domain provider's requirements. This works great, except the RSS feed is broken when I do this.
I know I can use a seperate log-in account and re-make the entire webpage there, but I consider that to be a last resort and I am looking for a better method than this.
Any suggestions? The site is http://www.oatag.org
    Thanks,
    Steve
MacBook 2gHz Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   1 GB RAM, Superdrive, 100 Gig HD

    Then, I have been
discarding all of them except for the folder of the
site I want to publish, which I have to name
"public_html" to conform with our domain provider's
requirements. This works great, except the RSS feed
is broken when I do this.
When you break the site structure by changing names of folders you also break the link for the RSS feed.
I find it hard to believe you are really required to change the name of the folder like that. Instead you should be inserting into the folder called public_html the following two things: the folder published by iWeb which has the same name as your site does inside iWeb, plus the index html file published alongside it. To make sure that this index.html file actually points to the site you are uploading, make sure this site is at the top of the list inside iWeb before publishing.

  • External disk problem with AVI files

    Hi
I do have Premiere elements 7 installed on a Sony Vaio laptop with Vista.
I have just rendered (DV camera to AVI files) some 20 tapes to my external disk (usb and fire wire connection) and everyuthing worked perfect.
A week later Premiere complains that I have not the correct codec installed.
However AVI files stored on my laptop still works.
Someone that has a clue about this?
    Second problem.
When renering the DV camera to AVI files directly to the laptop the dates works fine.
When i copy them to an external disk, the dates are replaced with todays date and I can not anymore see the shooting date.

    Hi,
Thanks, the forum seems to be a good knowledgebase. And thanks for your fast reply.
The thing is that I have a external disk with firewire and USB input.
However the laptop has only one firewire connection, so when rendering I use the laptop firewire for my Sony DCR-TRV33E and connects the external disk with USB.
When I create my videos, I connect the external disk with firewire.
However the problem is the same even if I try with USB or Firewire.
BUT last week it worked with both?????

  • External drive problems with Macbook Pro

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the exact place for it so apologies if this isn't it.
On my last computer and this one as well, whenever I delete something off of my an external thum/harddrive/whatever, the memory literally disappears to the point where there is only a few megabytes left unless I reformat it. This was cool until I started using an external hardrive, in which case it's becoming a little more difficult to just transferring and formatting.
Does anyone know about this problem and any possible solution to it?

In addition to putting the files in the trash, are you also emptying the trash as well, with the thumbdrive mounted?
If you don't, the files are still there, and NOT being deleted at all. All you are doing is moving the files to the thumbdrives's trash folder. Always make sure you empty the trash after deletion, and with the thumbdrive still mounted.

  • External Hdd problem with macbook pro 13" i5

I bought a extern hdd last week and i have detect that it doesn´t initialize when my early macbook pro 13" i5 come back from sleep or i turn on the mac. I must reconnect the hdd´s usb cable. My question is... Thats it normal?

Very true that if you don't see it in Disk Utility, you also won't see it on the desktop.
It sounds like you have an intermittent contact somewhere. It might be worth trying a different cable and a different port. Also try that cable with some other device.
No idea if the problem is with the drive's port, the Mac's port, or the cable, but you might be able to chase it down by trial and error. It may be something like a cable that is not fully engaged in the port and not making good contact.
